helllllOOOO!!
We are finally getting semi-warm days here. It got close to 70 yesterday, and the forecast is for 73° this afternoon. The best part (and I am crossing all of my fingers and toes that it stays this way) is that the forecast for next Tuesday is sunny and ~80 °. I planned my lessons so that Stream Study was this/fifth week and Water Cycle/Clouds was the final/sixth week. I switched that up b/c I want to finish out this session doing something really fun. That's a little risky because if it ends up raining, the stream study is not going to be as much fun. If it thunders, all plans go right in the trash. But as of now, my ideas seem to be paying off. :praying2:

(Sidenote: Anyone else who uses Grammarly notice that it's been twitchy? I am getting some really odd spelling/word suggestions and it wants me to put commas *everywhere.*)

I finally got to spend a few hours in the yard, clearing out the dead leaves off of the flowers. Gary trimmed back the damaged parts of the rhododendron and it looks silly and pathetic at the same time. But it means the patio will get some extra sunlight in the mornings and hopefully, all of the veggies we planted will grow well. I have soooo many new milkweed plants popping up too! dance4 They simply needed a little extra time. Don't we all when the temps are cold? I moved two of the ones that had spread to the front of the driveway and a couple from the garden area. They get really tall-- taller than me!- so the ones by the driveway kinda got to be PITB. Plus, I still have 6 left in the front garden and the seeds from last year.

I got some sad news from my friend-- they are moving. She and her family moved in when our girls were 18 months old and we have been friends and family ever since. Her DD was the one who officiated at Caitlyn's wedding. They had been looking to move/buy a house at the same time Cait and Tom were but like them, there was nothing on the market that was affordable. Now their landlord has lost her freaking mind and is kicking them out. After 25 years. I honestly can't imagine not having them across the street. Every time I think about it, I have to stop. It's too much. If they were moving on their own schedule, at least I'd have a reason to be happy for them. This is just painful.

So I'm going to focus on my lessons and the weather today. Wishing everyone a FAB day ahead!! ♥

I read this article awhile ago about cleaning out gardens too early. "Many butterflies, bees and other pollinators overwinter in the dead leaves and hollowed out stems of last year's plants. If you clean your garden prematurely, you will literally be throwing away this year's butterflies, bees and other beneficial pollinators." You are our Nature Lady so do not stress about cleaning up.
Yes!! This is so true! Milkweed stems are perfect for this, nice and hollow. I bend them down or break them halfway in the fall as they dry up. I rake the leaves off my front lawn (with dogs, that is necessary LOL) to the sides where the woods are. When I clear the leaves in the spring, I pretty much scoop them up and throw them a few feet farther into the woods.
What a gorgeous surprise to see all of the crocuses that one year!
FYI we do not watch TV in the trailer we travel 3-4 months but don't use it. We use our phones for news and keeping up with friends. Other than that it's all about camping and touring the area
Good for you! My kids still complain about the one year we went camping with friends and one day it was pouring rain. Scott was aggravated that I wouldn't let him go to our friend's tent and play video games. We were *camping* dammit, not playing videos games. Yup, I hear about that 20 years later when they list their childhood grievances :lol23:

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your ankle might be stiff for a year!
I read that the average is 4-6 months post-boot, and that is what I am firmly sticking to. Anything more than that: :lalala:
I hope that you had a wonderful time at the church meeting and then with the family visiting this weekend. ♥

@Terri M Good luck with the timeshare, don't get angry! *fingers crossed that the weather is wonderful while you are away*
Hippie dippy here too, can you imagine how many people you could feed with just a fraction of the money spent on war planning?

@bcgal00 Do you have a favorite jewelry piece yet? You must have a gorgeous collection!
I saw a few of the bird photos on FB and they were so amazing!

@AK_Tracy I figured that is where you were-- I hope you are healing well and not in too much pain. xo
Oh no-- just read that this time is rougher than the first one. Lots of hugs, very gentle ones to you~~~

@BrightEyes Oh, Kay! What a fright that you had about DD#3. You and your family have been through utter chaos these past few months. I am glad that it was "just" a gallbladder attack. Serious but treatable. That's good.
Glad to hear that DD#1 and your sister are coming out earlier.
Hope you slept well, take it easy today.

Seems like everyone is having a rough time so I am sending out extra big hugs today
:hug4:

@BrightEyes Wow another family crisis that was scary. I think you have had more than your share of family trouble. How exciting to see the hot air balloons, I'm looking forward to seeing a page.

@faerywings Ha your son remembers all those years later. We camped when the kids were young there was no computer games and they lived....they are in their 50's now.LOL We didn't have a TV in our boat either...There were people at the marina who spent all their time inside watching TV--why bother having a boat just stay home!

@AK_Tracy I feel bad for you that you are hurting from the surgery. This is the last one correct? Gentle hugs to you and i hope you heal quickly now that the weather is nicer...that porch will be a nice place to recover.

Sadly we do need to keep our war defenses up..it's a nasty world out there.

Our security cameras at home show only 5 baby ducks I'm sad but they are getting big so that is good they will have fewer predictors.
Today is a travel day to Fayetteville NC. There was a threat of rain last night here but it didn't. The forecast in Fayetteville is 95% chance of rain--yuck set up in the rain is not fun. Once we are set up it might be scrap time.

Have a great week

Quick in and out this AM... Need to get dressed soon and run a couple of errands before Sister gets here. It is only 4 1/2 hour drive from her house to mine so she should be here around noon (she is in Central time). DD#1 has a 6 hour drive (and she lives in AZ - Pacific time) so won't be in until late this afternoon. Did a quick upload of new released LOs now time to get dressed and run my errands.

DD#3 sent a text last evening... the pain meds are working and she is feeling somewhat better. Hoping that the other meds will help with the gallbladder flare-up.

Will be in here on a hit-or-miss schedule for the Color Play Releases and end of month stuff. Think I have everything ready for June challenge and releases then. HAGD

Had a great time at church yesterday, but didn't get to hear much of the preaching as I helped the pastor's wife with prep and cleanup of the meal.....I've been in her shoes! ;) Needless to say, my feet were killing me and I came home and crashed!

Morning ladies... I am popping in as I am getting the coupons and Gift Certificates ready for the last time. Life has been very hectic lately as we are hauling more mulch in for the gardens here and across the street. I am finally feeling 100% again and went to the eye dr. yesterday for my full exam. Seems I burst the blood vessels in my left eye by lifting something heavy, who me?? I would never do that :giggle4: . No wonder my back has been bothering me too. Anyway it took a long time to get over the shingles vaccine and feel like I have all my energy back now. It will soon be time to get the house ready for the kids to come home for my brother's celebration of life. That will mean a trip to Costco to stock up on items that we don't normally buy, it could be a more expensive trip than usual, but thats ok I am glad to have everyone here! Then DH and I will travel back to Ontario to stay with Heather and family and get some projects done for her while we are there. Still no set date as to when we plan to start travelling, but that's ok we are so busy just getting things done here. We really want to be somewhere warm this winter, so that will be our first vacation, most likely someplace like Mexico or Cuba because (sorry my USA friends) but we are not travelling to the States. Anyway I just wanted to pop in to say :wavinghello:I hope that all of you are having great weather and even better having a wonderful day what ever you do today!

Yesterday's timeshare talk was just barely survivable. I didn't start getting irritated until they went a quarter hour past their allocated 90 minutes. I was prepared to give them the agreed-upon time and even though I knew they wouldn't stick to it I became quite insistent and the last person -- who was doing a customer survey step -- really got the message and pointed us out the back door.

Afterwards, the rain held off well enough that we could ride our bikes into Colonial Williamsburg. I think this is the 5th time we've been here, and it's the first time I haven't been melting from the heat. I definitely did not bring the right clothes for the weather -- who would have thought, Memorial Day weekend in Tidewater Virginia and I turned the heat on in the condo last night.

This morning we went to the Norfolk Botanical Garden which was delightful. Hydrangeas in bloom everywhere, and still a fair number of azaleas blooming. We kept making notes of possible ground covers; David is on a campaign to reduce grass as much as possible. Tonight we're going to dinner at one of the colonial-themed restaurants, just for the fun of it. But tomorrow looks like solid rain, and Thursday spotty, so I think we'll just go home sometime tomorrow. It's only a couple hours drive and if we have to sit inside we may as well be home.

Since our men were military I'm thinking they might like the Navy base and I saw your boat tour so I would love it you would share what the tour company is called so we might be able to do that same tour.
The company we went with is here: https://www.navalbasecruises.com/
We enjoyed it. My hint is to sit on the right side of the boat, that's where 90% of the sights are

I got some sad news from my friend-- they are moving.
I hope they aren't planning to move far!

Still no set date as to when we plan to start travelling, but that's ok we are so busy just getting things done here.
When we were planning the retirement transition, I had originally had some stupid idea about selling the house in NJ, putting everything in storage, and traveling for 3 months before coming back east to Virginia for house hunting. That was just crazy, what with the problems of finding a house in the right price range. So then we were going to do our big trip the year after we moved. But transitioning took so much more time and energy than we had anticipated. We finally did our "Great American Roadtrip" two years after retiring. But it's OK, what do we have other than time?

@Terri M Thank you so much for that link we are going to go for sure just checking to see if our friends want to go too before we purchase tickets. Did you do the battleship tour too? We have already been on battleships even had a private tour with retired jet pilot but the boat ride sounds fabulous. Anytime I can be in the water I'm happy.
Norfolk gardens are on my list too.

@taxed4ever --- Travel when you can. When we first retired we still had our boat so we took 3 1/2 months traveling canals in Canada then the next year went all summer again but a different set of canals. Now we travel by land in our truck/trailer. We did a cruise to Havana Cuba....love it then travel was forbidden 2 weeks after we got back. We did scuba trips to Mexico..yes I loved the food too. Happy travels but sad you cannot come to the US. Go have fun wherever you go.

Good Morning.

I got some sad news from my friend-- they are moving.
this is so sad. I wonder why they're getting kicked out. Does the landlord wanna move in, are they selling? Hope they got a good notice time and aren't in a scramble hurry up and take what is available instead of something they want.

@AK_Tracy I figured that is where you were-- I hope you are healing well and not in too much pain. xo

This surgery was intense. It was a larger area and he used straws to keep three wounds per side open for better drainage. They took the max allowed and it only did front of thighs and hips. So I have to go back in Nov for the back of thigh and butt area. There is nothing worse then hard straws sewed into a cut and then you have to pull compression pants over top. The straws move and shift and hurt like heck. Sadistic Straw Strategy is my name for it. It did its job and was worth the pain but oh man I'm not looking forward to them next time either. Going potty was torture yet you gotta keep hydrated. Pull pants down past two sets of straws, oops they "flicked" and now the wall looks like crime scene with blood splatter on the walls. It was an adventure. Still oozing and hurt but the straws are gone. Flying was okay but for swelling. I'm bigger from swelling then when I went down.

This sounds fun!! Have a good time with your family.

@taxed4ever I'm sorry the shingles vaxx took you down. Glad youre almost back to normal. Sounds like lots of plans getting made and your gonna have a fun time with retirement.

Hi @vickyday and @Terri M Hope youre both having a wonderful summer so far.

Off to let the meds kick in . Have a wonderful day!

So sorry you are having a tough go of it from the surgery, Tracy! Prayers for QUICK healing! When do the straws get to be removed? That will help immensely, I'm sure! :lovey3::hug3:

They were removed a couple hours before I flew home. That was an event. Six straws. All ripped out (gently removed) at once. Was bad. Saw the stars. But the holes left behind, pencil eraser size, are super sore and its fun (sarcasm) to pull my compression pants on top of them.

OMG @AK_Tracy I feel so bad for you that sounds horrible and another surgery that is just not right. I am wishing the swelling to get better very soon. That condition sounds so awful, now get home where the weather is getting better so you can be outside on your porch to heal, read a book then let everyone wait on you. You got this now..hugs and healing wishes coming your way.

I am home. Its 75° in the sunshine. Black compression pants, too hot LOL. But I sat out for about half hour. Taking it easy. Next surgery might be a smidge more as it will be back of thighs but it will be worth it when I am all done. :heartpumppink:
