I am shocked at myself. It is 35* right now and that makes me *happy.* Yeah, happy, how crazy is that? It was 40* colder 5 days ago. It is utter madness.
Scott was feeling better and he and Leah ended up going on a hike yesterday afternoon. I was enjoying driving home in the sunshine.

My Drs appt was fine. I think.
Looks like I am going to need surgery on my ankle. It is a ganglion cyst and I need to get an MRI done first to get a better look at it and then a follow-up appt and discuss surgery. He seemed pretty confident that was the best/only option. For some reason, I knew that was going to be the answer before I went in, but I thought the surgery was a something super-simple, like an in-office procedure. Don't ask me why I thought that, I don't know where that came from. :noidea: But when I got home and I looked it up, depending on the size/location of the cyst, it could be anywhere from 1-6 weeks of recovery. Yikes! I won't freak out about it until I know for sure, but that was not what was expecting.

Lunch was nice. I rarely get to see my family, just the 4 of us. My brother hasn't had a chance to see what kind of waiver might even be possible to get into the alternate route courses. He needed a 3.0 GPA and his was a 2.3.
I asked him about maybe going through a more traditional route- getting a second degree rather than just the education classes. He needs to figure out exactly *what* he wants to do and then come up with the plan of how to get there. My mom is jumping ahead to next year when his package ends and what if he isn't employed.

I have to go food shopping and I *really* am not in the mood for that. But when I get home, I need to deal with the insurance company to get Prior Authorization for the MRI and make that appt and then go for bloodwork too. So the grocery store looks like it might be the highlight of my day, oh goodie!
But the great part of it is that we have another day in the 50s.

Wishing everyone a happy day today too.

Trudy- how much snow did you end up getting? I saw that Seattle got hit very hard for them so the Wet Coast is more White than wet ATM. Hope that it all melts away quickly.

Sorry for that weird post, I don't know what happened and I tried to go back and delete the extra stuff. Who the heck knows anymore?? LOL
Good job finishing your puzzle- I think we are going have to pick another one out soon.

Rae- how cute Taz must be running in the snow. I think a lot of the time, W whines to go out and eat it instead of really needing to go potty. She is obsessed with ice and ice cubes.

Good for you for sticking so close to your diet and that realizing even a small treat isn't always worth it.
I was hoping that the cyst would have gone away on its own but I guess since I have had it since last Sept and it is only getting bigger, that isn't going to happen.

Felis- I hope that your house calms down and isn't as distracting so you can get some scrapping done this week.

Scott is feeling much better- thanks for asking!

Karen- thank you for your input, I appreciate it. Right now in NJ, you can't get a regular teaching job unless you have either a Masters or a SpecEd degree. My friend has her Elem Ed degree and cannot get her foot in the door. She was a regular sub, a long-term sub and has been a Paraprofessional for 3 or 4 years now. Every time she interviews, she gets passed over. The school budgets are so tight, that they try to combine classes or just move one teacher to a different/grade or school.

I was trying to encourage him to go for SpecEd. He has been volunteering with the Special Olympics with my SIL and her family since they met and I know he would be great with it.

He is 52 so age is an issue even though it shouldn't be.

Good to hear that the roads are safe by you, we always have trouble up here.
You also had a very productive day, you should share a photo of the stool you finished.

Jean- You must be excited to see that Spring Training is getting underway. I hope that you have a much better season.;) The temps are insane, aren't they? Not that I would ever complain about it being too warm ha!

Yuck, I am late....HAGD!!! xoxo

good morning - well I saw the surgeon and I am healing really well. He took off the tape and the last stitch. I still could not believe that I am not going to open the incision but he explained that the stitches are on the inside and will dissolve. Well that made me feel much better. I no longer have to keep a bandage on the incision and I only have to wear my compression socks during the day. What a difference that made. So I used just my cane and walked to the doctor's office and then had to pick up some new meds at Walgreens and walked there too. My DH drove. So I had a great day and it was so nice outside. As I was leaving the doctor's there was 2 ladies in the waiting room. One was back for her year visit and another 3 months. Both were so happy but both were also going to get their other knee replaced. I will probably be doing that too in the future. LOL We did not put Luther in daycare as my DH was home until the middle of the afternoon and Luther and I did fine all night. He seems to know that something is wrong with me. He does not jump so that is awesome. So he will be in daycare this whole week but I will try it next it with him home. If I am still not strong enough he can always go back. I am so enjoying the Marvelous Mrs Maisel. At one point her husband tells her - men find women that are beautiful, or smart or makes them laugh and if he is lucky he falls for one that is two out of three but that he found a woman that was all three and he was not sure how to handle her. I found that so interesting. This show takes place in the 50s I think so to see how little there was for women to strive for outside of motherhood, teacher or nurse. She is so naive that she does not even see what she her actions cause. Anyway I love the series. Today my Devils play the LA Kings. The Kings have not been that good but neither have my Devils so it might a fun game. My goalie Cory Schneider is back from injury but we still do not know when he will start but it might be tonight or Thursday.

Chris good luck at the grocery store. Glad that Scott is feeling better. Glad you got such good news about Tatiana. That is interesting about becoming a teacher. Good luck to him. It is hard to change but he still has many good years for find his passion. Must have been fun to just be the 4 of you again.

Trudy tell your MG that having his knee replaced is a good thing. The pain from recovery is so different from the constant pain of a bad knee. They now seem to have it all down and without opiates. That was special about Rask now being the winningest goalie for the Bruins. Hope the snow does not stay long and you get your car back so you can begin painting.

Rae that is so cute of Taz waking early and needing to play in the snow. Don't let the work bog you down so you don't take care of your self. Hope those hummers do okay during this cold snap you all are having.

Kay hope weather near you is not too bad. But what ever at least you now have your garage door working.

Felis I would say you are lucking in that you have the heat fire place in your room but sorry it causes such distractions. Good luck with work!

Jean I too am excited to see that spring training is not that far away. Yankees and Mets say theirs start March 1. And yes this winter and temps are so crazy.

Karen that in so interesting about what teachers are needed. So the west needs French teachers wow.

Have a great day all!

brrrrr!!! It is cold this morning! -8 here which is what? around 20F? Way too cold for out here on the West Coast!! We ended up getting around 3 inches of snow, but some of it melted away in the afternoon. Still the yards and roofs are covered in white stuff and it does look pretty. The roads are dry and clear, so DH took his truck today. Silly man, I can't believe every year we go through the same thing of him refusing to put on his winter tires and then needing them :gaah: What the heck did you spend all that money on tires for if you are never going to use them?? Oh well I am happy to have my CRV back and will hit the pool this morning to get in my laps. Then off to he hardware store to pick up my paint and stain for the staircase. I need to upload the page I did yesterday and it would be nice if I could get another one done sometime today too.

Chris - Glad that your temps have warmed up a bit, we are expected to have this polar vortex hang around for a while yet, I will have to have two hummingbird feeders at the ready for the poor little hummers, the feeder keeps freezing up , wish I had some kind of warming up box for them to hang out in. But I try not to mess around with Mother Nature too much. I always wonder if I am screwing up their migration if I feed them all winter?? Glad that your Drs. Appt went so well, I had one of those removed from my little finger and it was just a day surgery at the hospital, in and out in around 20 mins. Then had to watch my incision for a few weeks but it was nothing really. Hope that yours will be the same! Glad that your visit with your brother was ok too, hopefully he figures out the best course of action to take! Going into special Ed. would be a wonderful thing for him! Have fun food shopping, hopefully it's not too busy! So glad to hear that Scott is feeling so much better!

Nancy - You are healing up just perfectly!! A wonderful patient and sounds like you will be back to not using a cane and out there walking with Luther before you know it! I will pass on your words of encouragement to my Gary, thanks!! Yes I suppose that you will have to one day have your other knee replaced, but hopefully not for a while and at least you know that you will be just fine when you do have it done! I started watching the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and then forgot about it, so might have to start watching again.Glad to hear that your Goalie will be back playing with your Devils soon, hopefully tonight!

Rae - Sounds like you will be very busy trying to keep up with your work! Hope you can, but a good time to be indoors with this freezing weather we are having! Looks like a nice sunny day though, perhaps you can bundle up and get out for a walk with Taz later on in the day!

Felis - I never thought of filming my Gary's birthday party, silly me!! But the kids had a nice facetime with him, hard to talk to them when there were so many other people here though. Hope that you can find some quiet time to do your scrapping!

Karen - Yes French teachers are very much in demand!! My grands are in French Immersion and love it, it hopefully will provide them with many more opportunities for a career in the future. Victoria where the flowers are in bloom did not get as much snow as we did here in the Cowichan Valley, so hope that the cherry blossoms survive this cold!

Jean - Nice to see you!! yes how cool for you to have your great niece come learn about the family history!! Nice for you to have spring training again, hopefully spring is on its way!!

Well Heather is facetiming me so I better get going! Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good evening girls,
such a lovely day here! The snowdrop flowers are show their heads, or at least in my neighbours, because the dog is dig another hole on a place where mine was previous years. It is so nice to feels the kisses of the Sun on your face, and to smell all these Spring scents that wind bring. Soon I wouldn't be able to ignore the garden work which expect me, but for now I need theses double shifts at work.

Jean, I'm happy to hear that you have fun with the baseball spring training! The time spent with your niece sounds fun for the both side! Do you have some plans for this year 52 weekly pages? Please, don't allow my disappointment to discourage you! Everybody loves your page and this was great project!

Kythe, your stool's recovering project sounds very interesting.

Nancy, great progress, how awesome that all happened so quick and recovery going on plan! Oh, yes I love my fireplace, and usually I scrap at night so my family's day bustle it wouldn't be a problem if I wasn't so tired right now and not enough energy to stay awake. I'm sure Luther have fun in a daycare, so don't worry about that! This show sounds interesting! Right now I feel some nostalgia to the old moral, especially because here women are have equal possibilities with the men from the moment they become married.

Chris, ouch, sorry to hear about the ankle surgery! Finger crossed that will be simple one! How brave from side of your brother to wants new qualification. Here is expensive, and complicated and scares me to death! I'm happy that both Scott and Titania are feels better!

 to the others!
Happy Chinese new year! The year of the pig. :flypig:

Had to be up early and get dressed early this morning. Had the pest treatment guy coming by and he is usually here around 8. I managed to get a cup of coffee drank before he arrived. He asked about the vertical incline table I have... told him it was for sale. He wants it and will call me on the weekend so he can get it then. Hooray!!! I also have a Bowflex and a treadmill I need to sell. I can't use either one of them due to my bad back. Have to wait on the treadmill as it is surrounded by boxes out in the garage. Grandson-in-law is going to help me go through the boxes [filled with old electronics] and then take them to the dump for me. That will clear the way to get to the treadmill so I can get a photo of it. And now I also have the old garage door opener to take to the dump.

Played around a couple of challenge LOs yesterday and got them posted this morning. I stayed home all yesterday and spent the late afternoon/evening reading. The wind was blowing so even tho it was in the 50's, it felt much colder. Front is coming in this afternoon and will be back down below freezing again. Not suppose to have snow... maybe rain/sleet by tomorrow. Have to go to the hardware store to get replacement sockets and cords for both of my MBedroom lamps. Figured out that was what was causing the circuit breaker to pop off. I had been getting a bit of bite sometimes when I reached to turn them on/off... but we have lots of static electricity in the air here due to the dry air. Been awhile since I have replaced sockets/cords but am sure I haven't forgotten how to do it. Had to bring a lamp in from the guest bedroom so I could have a lamp on the nightstand in my bedroom.

Chris, so sorry about your ankle needing surgery. I am sure you will feel better once it is done and you recover from it. Glad Scott is feeling better.

Rae, hope work isn't too over-whelming. Hope you can get out for a walk later on.

Nancy, so glad to hear you are coming along. Wow... that is quite a bit of walking. Nice that you could manage all of it.

Trudy, was shaking my head over your DH resisting putting the snow tires on his truck... sometimes men's logic escapes me completely. Bet the snow looks nice... just wouldn't want to have to get out and drive in it.

Karen, great job on the stool recovering job. Neat that it will match the pillows, too. We did my mom's stool and rocking chair at least 3 times for her. It just takes patience and good tools.

Felis, wow... your flowers are starting to bloom... glad you are having spring like weather. Enjoy it.

Good morning, ladies. It is too cold here for me. Woke up to 18° and it hasn't gotten past 20 yet and its almost noon. I have a heater on one hummingbird feeder but it was still half frozen so had to wrap a thick t-towel around it and the other smaller feeder was in the house all night b/c it would have frozen. I put it outside this morning and it started freezing up almost immediately so wrapped a big fluffy red towel around it too.

Taz is obsessed with the snow LOL. He went out last night around midnight for a final run through the yard before bed. I'm heading out for a lunch time walk with him soon. I'll be sure to bundle up b/c its going to be brutal out there. Luckily there isn't much wind so thats a small blessing.

Other than that, I'm not going out for anything. I have lentil soup for lunch and will make a casserole for dinner. I've got lots of work all this wk but I'll stop by 9 tonight so I can relax with D and watch a few shows.

Chris - sorry to hear you'll need surgery but at least it will be taken care of. Fingers crossed you'll be at the shorter end of the recovery time.

Trudy - drive carefully today, its icy out there.

Nancy - you are recovering so well. Bet it feels good to get out and about a bit now.

Kay - how great that you found someone to take the incline table.

Felis - aw....spring....I can't wait.

I'd better get another coffee and fortify myself before heading outdoors with Taz. Have a great day, everyone.
