The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
The weather is changing everywhere! It is freezing here ATM (feels that way even if not accurately by temperature) but we have a Freeze Warning for tonight. I'd better bring my basil plant inside today. The tomatoes and pepper plants that I started too late in the spring are producing and ripening. Which cracks me up because they were from a "Survival Seed" tin that I got from the FP. I guess they really will germinate and grow no matter what conditions they are in. We gave up watering them in August, figuring that they were past any help. I pulled off 4 green peppers on Monday. I might add them to tonight's dinner. I am making grilled tofu and apple skewers, with red onion and red peppers. Might as well cut up the green peppers for the recipe.

How was your day yesterday? Mine was pretty uneventful. I paid bills, cleaned for my friend, and started the write-up for my aromatherapy portion of the retreat. And I scrapped the pictures of Lawnmower Man and Braxtron. It took me forever to figure out what and how I wanted to do any of it. My scrap mojo is down and out. :(

My parents are coming here today. My dad is officially passing his car over to us. Now that it is actually happening, I am so dang conflicted. Sure, I am relieved that we have another car, even more considering Tom's car is back in the shop on Monday. More than a little anxious about insuring a second car. And sad for my dad. He isn't giving up his license so he can still use my mom's car to get to the firehouse or the supermarket down the street. But sheesh... I thought Dads were supposed to be all-powerful and live forever.

Scott and Sam are on their way home from a camping trip this morning, so I invited them to come by too. I really hope they can make it b/c that will keep the mood lighter for me.

Sending everyone a big hug! :hug4:

@vickyday NJ is starting to get some niceish color in the mountains. But a lot of the leaves are doing the same as yours, turning brown and dropping. There are *lot* of acorns in my backyard this year too.
Here is a picture of the Rat-too. It's right after she spent 6 hours in the chair so it is red and swollen in the photo. It's so much clearer in person, but at least this is an idea. It's actually a *very* crummy picture-- I'll see if I can get her to send me a better one.

Yes, it had been awhile since Ilene and I got to spend time together. We are going to get together today, too. Then I have GOT to get busy and wrap up the loose ends of my widows' devotion.....and I totally forgot about our ladies' church Bible study this weekend that I have NOT even looked at!
I do that all the time, so many loose ends that need to be dealt with. And since we both want to be overprepared, I know it isn;t comfortable to look at it once and be done.
Did you and Mark have a wonderful and romantic birthday dinner? He is a sweetie ♥ Wishing you all the best on this upcoming year!!
My SIL died at about 1:00 today. They will make the arrangements tomorrow.
I have no words... She was so young (same age as me) and so unexpected. I am grateful that you all have such strong faith to get you through what has to be an extraordinarily difficult time. Many, many hugs and love.

Morning, all. A cloudy morning but I can see some balloons lifting off into the sky. Rain is in the forecast - off and on for the next few days (remnants of Priscilla). I have a bunch of errands to run... so many that I had to make a list of where/what! Hope I can get it all done before the rain starts. Guess I had better throw a rain jacket in the car... :lol23: Haven't needed a jacket for several months.
Hope you made your list and checked it twice. And that the rain held off until you were back home.

All of you looking for rain, you left it up here. And it will be here for at least the next 10 days. Feel free to come and get it!

Oh Chris, this isn't good. Jaida needs to heal. I hope that the new meds work and you dont have to "scrape" that sounds horrible.
We might be getting a Nor'easter up the coast so I'll hold off on your rain for now.
The scraping sounded like a surgical procedure so I am really hoping it doesn't come to that.

I went looking for the Weiss FB page so I can see what your workplace is all about.

Jaida needs to go potty, BRB!

Yesterday I had my last pre-op appointment all went well now I wait for surgery time...hopefully early to get it over with. I had to stop taking Meloxicam so all my joints hurt now.
I hope that everything falls into place easily and quickly.
Popping in with a very, long overdue HELLO!!!!! Will go back and read the thread, but while quickly scrolling I see everyone is mentioning rain. It rained here today as well. Which brings joy. We've been in a high fire warning area all summer. Nowhere near enough, but I'll take it. I hope everyone is doing well and life's struggles are a minimum. PEACE
:waving3: So fab to see you pop in!
Glad you got some rain too, it's way too dry.
@faerywings I agree with you that my timing on coming back to the Os is a very good thing.
:hug3: Love you, my friend ♥

Good morning all. I am typing on my brand new laptop this morning. I have about a million things to do but this morning I am enjoying this new laptop. It has a touch screen, which I am sure I will never use. The keyboard is a good size...this is a 17 inch. Today, as I retire, I return my work computer and that will free up my desk for scrapping (and bill paying :cuffed: ) and I am going to dig my second monitor out.

Thanks for all of the kind words about my SIL. She has been my sister for 36 years...so many memories. Anyway, I need time to sit with those memories. And I know that scrapping will help.

@faerywings I am so sorry that your dad is turning your car over to you. Not sorry that you are getting a second car...I'm sure that will be helpful...but sure sorry about your dad. You do want them around forever...

Our weather today is supposed to be beautiful. Overnight it may rain but I will be sleeping. Or if not sleeping, thinking about how I should be sleeping. :rolleyes1: Sydney is coming home tonight after work. She works remote on Fridays so she will work from here tomorrow. Always happy when Syd is coming home!

Morning, all. Only a few clouds in the sky... and see some balloons up and flying. I see a few of them are coming further west and south of us... so have hopes that some will come closer so I can get some photos. I forgot to put the trash and recycle bins at the curb last night - but got that done just in time this morning. There was a dove perched on the big stone in my front yard as I put the bins at the curb... it stayed on the stone and watched me whole time. Too bad I didn't have the camera to snap a photo.

Boo-hoo... I tried on the Cuddle Duds PJs and hate them!!! The top and pants fit like second skin and is very thin. Felt like I was wrapped in a sausage. UGH. So will be taking them back tomorrow. I just got coupons from Kohls so will check out the PJs there.

The back is feeling better this morning... so will strip my bed, rotate the mattress, put the new mattress cover on and change out the summer comforter to the winter-weight one. Will wait to add the down comforter until nights are colder - around Halloween time.

@faerywings - thanks for sharing Cait's Rat-tat!!! Sorry it is already cold in your neck of the woods already. I was wondering if Gary had pulled out the Halloween characters yet... lawnmower man and Braxton!!! Several of my neighbors have Halloween blow-ups in their yards. I should walk around and get some photos of them. Happy and sad that your dad gave you his car. I remember when my DH had to give up driving due to his double-vision... hard for them when they lose the freedom to drive when/where they wish to go.

@LSlycord my thoughts and prayers go to your family about the death of your sister-in-law. She was so young.
Good luck on getting the new laptop set up and getting PSE installed.

@Nonni F :welcome1: back!!! You have been missed. It is like "old home week".

@BoatLady Sending healing thoughts to you during your surgery and recovery. :hug2:

@vickyday - can't wait to see the photo of the cabin with the porch finished. Glad you got to visit with Irene again.

Time to get busy... HAGD

@faerywings Well thank you for the link---wow that is quite a place. You have so much going on there I see why you are so excited to work there.
I have to laugh at your "Forest Bathing". I'm reading Earth Childrens series by Jean Auel--Set in primitive caveman times and they use soapwort plants to bath. I like your kind of Forest bathing much better than theirs as theirs deals with river washing in cold water!!!
How nice to get another car for your family. Sad your Dad has to give his up but at least they still have a car to share, so it's not such a devastating event.

@LSlycord Congrats on the new laptop, I had to get one last year when we were traveling- Sedona AZ but I was lucky as they transferred everything so I had nothing to do but turn it on. Enjoy.

Take care everyone.

Good Afternoon. I'm running on battery and cell signal. Power went out yesterday at 1p and we still dont have power. Hubs borrowed a generator so we could plug in the fridge and freezers and cool them back down. Massive winds yesterday and dead trees falling everywhere. Our power lines in AK are above ground so they were taken out. Poor electric guys are run ragged the last 26 hours. Still working to get everyone back up and running. its down to 54 in the house so hopefully we get power before bedtime so it warms up.

@LSlycord happy last day of work. Hope its an easy transition since you are headed into the weekend. I hope scrapping allows you to relive those memories with SIL. :heartpumppink: Took me a long time after my dad passed to be able to scrap those and I still haven't scrapped his last photos.

Hope you all have a wonderful evening and amazing Friday! Hopefully I will have power tomorrow and can chat a bit more. Dont want to drain the cell phone too much using it as a hot spot.

I think my scrapping mojo has gone to visit with yours! ;)
Yes, it is bittersweet when someone's dad/mom has to give up driving! I know I would hate it!
Hope Scott and Sam are/were able to stop by!

Couldn't really tell anything from the rattoo picture, so I'll wait until you can get a better one.
No, too much going on this week to go out. I told him there was no hurry. I think we will probably try for next weekend. I still haven't made a final decision on the place. But I got lots of suggestions from the ladies at church!

The cabin porch isn't quite finished yet! We bought the tin for the roof tonight, so he might get to work on it this weekend, but we have a lot going on!

Ilene is so funny when we get together! I think she would take me back into her home in a minute.....if Mark would let me, LOL!

I'm making it in just under the wire. Almost time for bed. I know I only show up in random spurts, but always appreciate the love and welcome I find when I do.
@faerywings Looking forward to a clearer pic of the rat-too! Love that you're calling it that. A bit behind on all going on, but glad your preop went well. Cold here as well. We have a freeze warning tonight too. Goodbye, Summer! It was fun while it lasted.

I hope by now that your power is back!

I'm just a bit late to the party! I've had a busy day.
Up at 8.
Made coffee. Tasted better but still only drank about half.
Swept the floors.
Put the dishes away.
Cleaned up the kitchen a bit.
Put things away to clear off my counter.
Got dressed.
Left to take Mark and Bob to lunch.
Dropped them back at work.
Headed to Walmart to deposit a birthday gift check.
When back at home, I clean the dirty refrigerator handles and outside of refrigerator.
Straightened and combined some of the stuff in the fridge.
Sat down (finally) and looked through the mail. 4 more birthday cards.
Worked on the Bible study for our ladies' group at church.
Went through my email and here.
Time for Mark to be home.
We went to get tin for the cabin porch roof.
When we got back Mark went to the woods with the tin.
Time to fix supper.
Still waiting on supper at 8:21
Almost time for bed!
No scrapping today!
It was a beautiful day and cooler with clear, blue skies!
Buzzer went off for the oven! Time to eat!
NIGHT!
