The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
*fingers are crossed tight* It is 7 am and the phone hasn't rang yet. Looks like the kids will have school. A delayed opening, but who cares?? My heart breaks for all of the people in the area still w/o power, I just can't imagine.

I was reading a news article on a new Climate Study that is predicting that more extreme storms- hurricane, blizzards and so on, are going to become the norm. My IL's wanted to buy us a new sofa for Christmas. I am thinking that we should scrap the sofa and ask for a generator instead. being 100% electric, I wasn't even able to heat a can of soup or boil water, let alone flush a toilet. A generator might be a smarter option. Of course MMG is not going to agree, until we have a comfy sofa to sit on in the cold and dark and no power. ;)

Off to work today for MIL, yay! I am looking fwd to getting out of the house. I invited my mom up for lunch yesterday but then the kids ended up being home, soo the 4 of us went out together. It wasn't as quiet and calming as I had hoped, but it makes my mom so happy (and me too!) to see my kids laughing together.

xoxo!!

Morning Chris and all - day off and so full of necessaries- this does make my life easier on work days though- not complaining- just saying!! Of course my goal is scrapping at the end of the day as well.

hi Laurie- i hope that you are able to get everything done that you need to.

I have been completely MIA from posting personals, but I have been trying to read and catch up. I am sorry if I miss replying to any of you.
I think Phyllis said that *my* screen name should be "what next" and some days I think she is right, many days you'll hear me muttering to myself, "It's always something," followed by a deep breath and then "This too shall pass."

Nana- I was thinking about you so much the last few days, hoping that court would be "good." but its so much out of your hands isn't it? Well, the decision, that is. The kids-- definitely *in* you hands, in your hair... LOL I wish I lived by you and I could babysit a day to two just to give you a chance to breathe.

Eva- How did the drs appt go for your DS? It is so heart wrenching to see your "baby" in pain, especially since I imagine it is very hard for him to express it b/c of the Asperger's. Love how you missed your DH, its so sweet and reassuring to see people head over heels after many years.

Donna- fingers crossed that the "SS stays away from you!

Fran- I guess I am lucky- I go to bed first, so MMG is the one on the couch and I keep the bed. LOL He is actually more comfy on the couch since he has horrific restless leg spasms and the blankets seem to make it worse. Hope that you can get some good sleep tonight. Have you tried melatonin to help you sleep? I take 6gms before I go to bed and it really helps me get into a deeper sleep.

Andrea- hey girl! I am here, really!!! Oh some of the weird songs I wake up to some days.... I told Gary I though I was channeling AM radio! And then some songs get stuck in my head for days and weeks- Like right now I have had "We're off to to see the wizard.... almost 2 weeks!!!
How were your beans for b-fast?

Maureen- hope things worked out ok with your car.

I';d better get going, delayed opening always screw me up. I have my routine down cold for regular days, but that 90 minutes throws me off... I have no idea if I am running late.

love to you all!

Good Morning Ladies! I slept soooo good last night, probably because I was exhausted.....lots of stuff to do at work and no down time like there used to be and getting spotty sleep the night before didn't help. So feeling pretty darn good this morning....

Chris I vote for the sofa....who needs to eat and keep warm anyway.....

Laurie - hoping your day goes smoothly.

Morning all.. a friend is taking me out to breakfast in a bit so this is just short. I have my car back, and considering it was under 1k to repair, I can that pretty good. I have a very reliable diesel VW Golf but it is 10 years old now so some repairs aren't surprising.

Today I am making dinner for Dick and 4 other men. Actually it's the pork loin porchetta that I made earlier, that I'm going to slice thinly so it looks more than it is. If I let them cut it up themselves, they'd take too much! No matter what I make for these guys, there is never anything left. I know two of the wives don't cook, so homemade is kinda special to them. Good times talking stuff over too.

Deseert? godwilling, it will be baklava. (I have all the stuff Phylis...say your prayers that I can work fast enough with the filo!)

cya'lll later.

Good morning everybody! I'm just breezing by this morning. Normally, Clara brings Addie over on Thursday mornings, but she's not feeling well this morning (FEEL BETTER, CLARA!) so I have some time I didn't think I'd have. But I have to do finals stuff for my class right now. Blah. I will be busy with it all weekend. DANG! Does my school not know that it's DSD weekend? Huh? But I'm stopping here first!

Here's my big news: we have Genny's IEP meeting every November, because it's her birthday month. In case you don't know, the IEP is a special ed kid's plan for the academic year. It's a legal document that lists all their goals and how specifically they will work on achieving them. Gen's been with essentially the same group for 2 and 1/2 school years now, so usually her meeting is pretty routine. But yesterday, I got an email from her teacher saying that she's doing so well spending parital days in the regular PreK classroom that they would like to transition her to the typical-able PreK starting after Winter break! Hooray, right? I'm a little worried, tho, because she'll be switching back to the neighborhood school because she won't need to go to full-time special ed anymore, which means she will have totally new teachers, and totally new friends. I don't want her to be bullied or made fun of. Just being the nervous mother hen, I suppose. I'm proud of her tho!

The other big news is that my older son, Quinn, is going to visit for Thanksgiving! Yay, I'm so excited! We're going to the coast to visit some old friends from when we were stationed at Fort Bragg the first time. I haven't seen them since I was barely pregnant with Atha, so it's been awhile. I hope it's not weird or awkward, but I think it will be fun.

Anyway, that's that. I'll try to stop by later for personals. Have a great day!

hiya. hubby is home today so that he can cut the grass before the NEXT snowstorm. (i know that sounds weird, but we have a TON of grass. like almost 2 1/2 acres,. so it takes HOURS to do it.) temps in the low 60s today, so it's a perfect day for it. plus it'll keep him outside most of the day and out from under my FEET! honestly. i wonder how it's going to work when he retires. i am so used to having the house to myself all the time.

Chris, i vote for the generator. but then again, i'm the girl with a basement full of freeze-dried food with a 25 year shelf life (enough for over 3 months) and alternate sources of heat, light and power. i just treated myself to a nifty little thing called a Power Monkey eXtreme which will hold 75% of its charge for a year and can power iPod, iPad, phone, etc. many times from one charge. mega battery. pl;us there's a solar battery you can use, too. i won't tell my husband about this/ he thinks i'm insane. i basically am preparing for the Apocalypse.... :behindsofa:

Maureen, hope the baklava works out. it's really impossible to mess it up. the only time i goofed it up was when i POURED the syrup over the warm baklava instead of spooning it. don't ask me why, but it makes a difference.

Andrea, the IEP news sound so encouraging. but there's always the Mom Worry thing when change is involved. my kids are grown and i STILL worry about them.

Frani, nothing like a good night's sleep. generally my sleep is intermitent and awful, but i've been doing well the last few night, too, for some reason! the Sleep Fairy must be flying around with the pixie dust.

Laurie, enjoy your day off!

i better get going. too doggone much computer time for me. Anna has another big product release for tomorrow, and i have to start thinking about PAGES! and laundry.

have a Happy Thursday, everyone.

Good Morning Ladies!! Well off to work this morning and then home this afternoon and I have to get this sign painted that I have been doing for BIL's greenhouse. I will take a photo of it before it leaves the house, it's turning out quite cute and I know he will like it! Running behind again today. Will be back here for personals later today I promise! I am so excited for IDSD this weekend! No plans for me except being right here and spending some cashola!! Have a great one everyone!!

Hi girlies!!! I've have a whirlwind week with quilting wildness going on. Last week was Quilt Market and this week is festival. I'm hoping my mom wants to go with me and the girls tomorrow afternoon. I have to find a particular ruler and some cool plastic embroidery hoops. Other than that, I'm just going 90 to nothin trying to keep my head above water!!

Hope everyone has a marvelous thursday!! Mine is going to include cutting out and sewing rabbit costumes for our musical that our church's drama team is putting on!! It should be really fun!!!! :) I'm sooooo distracted by all of my wonderful fabric and projects...so you might want to pray for me!! LOL!!

and pray that the mouse in Mr Gorgeous' office goes away!! We have a humane trap that I hope he sets up...he did lock Big Fat Kitty in the office, but the mouse was a bit too smart for this particular cat...*sigh* Mice give me the willies!!! :)

love you all!!!!

I've read all your news - what full and busy lives you all have.

I envy you - being mainly home-bound is a nuisance BUT "it could be worse"!

I have my computer, the internet, my "O" family, and my dear family, boy Fritzie and love.
I'm truly blessed!

I won't have time to respond but know that I'm reading and thinking about each of you as I do!

I know the past sentence was a grammatical disaster ;)

Take care - keep warm - and stock up (I don't think you're insane Phyllis)

::grouphug

Afternoon everyone... it turned out to be a beautiful day. Very busy at work and the decorators have come to get the store ready for Christmas!! We only got the Halloween stuff put aside and now its Christmas and I am not ready :frusty:

Chris - I vote for the generator!! I know what its like to try to cook for a whole family with no electricity!! But it sounds like you could probably go to Phylis's house and be ok for a while!! LOL.

Laurie - Have a great day off and hope you get to have that scrapping time later on!

Frani - Don't you just love those nights when you have a great sleep?? hope it continues for you!!

Maureen - Hope your breakfast was good!! I bet those guys just love it when you cook for them!! Dessert sounds awesome!!

Andrea - You must be so proud of your little girl!! We never stop being protective of our children, it shows what a wonderful mother you are!!

Sally - you make my head spin with all of your busyness!! Hope you catch that mouse! Sending out prayers so you keep your head above water!!

Phylis - Can I come and stay with you when the big Quake hits the West Coast?? I keep telling my husband that we need to be prepared, but it falls on deaf ears. Guess I will have to start a stockpile on my own.

Jacqueline - You truly are blessed!! Sounds like you have everything that you need!

Hope you have a wonderful evening, I'm watching Big Bang Theory and Gray's Anatomy tonight.

Quick pop in before I go lay down. My FIL made it through the angiogram just fine this morning and they ended up placing a stint. No bypass surgery!! Woohoo! I'm so glad!!! My MIL needs prayers though... she hasn't had a minute of sleep since yesterday morning. Since it's raining up there, she's not driving down to San Jose to stay with her sister in law. So, she's resting in their rental car in the hospital parking lot. I really wish she had somewhere better to rest, but she doesn't want to go to a hotel alone & the VA hospital doesn't have vistor stay rooms.

I have another massive migraine (3rd day in a row) so I'm going to go lay down for half an hour... giving me just enough time to make my sides before the chicken is done for dinner!

Maureen, you're making baklava?? Mind sharing some?!?!?!?! I haven't had any in ages!!!
