Whatta day(s) :(

Is there any way to help someone who never seems to get a break, one bad thing after the other?
Poor Sam</3 She and Pup have been here the last couple of days, he goes everywhere with her since he got so sick (cancer). Yesterday, he was really sick, vomiting, and then was barely moving for a few hours. She called the vet, made the appt, and she and Scott brought him over to her mom's so the rest of the family could say goodbye. And what did that adorable little bugger do? Jumped out of the car, played with Sam's mom's dog, and ate some of a hamburger. So she canceled the appt and came back here and we all loved on him some more. Unfortunately in the middle of the night, he started throwing up again.
I keep saying how sorry I am to her, for all of it. When I was saying goodbye to him yesterday, she told me he was going to see Daniel. (Her younger brother was killed in a car crash in 2021). I can't do *anything* to help her, only give her hugs. It's not enough. I know that Scott is very supportive of her, and Cait is working from home for part of the day so she will be there for Sam and Puppa.
And to top it all off her family is placing her grandma into hospice this week.

No plans today, My back is still a little stiff and sore and with everything going on, it's going to be a laying low kind of day.

Any good thoughts for Sam and Puppa and her family are very appreciated.

xoxo

@BrightEyes I am really glad that you were able to get some better sleep, hope that continues. I wish I lived closer to give you a hand with groceries or whatnot.

@LSlycord Yesterday was a bill-paying day for me too. Not-so-easy come, allll too easy go Bwuahaha!
I couldn't tell you the last time I went to a movie theater. Much easier/comfortable/cheaper to wait until it streams. Do they still run matinees? Is that any less expensive? *fingers crossed for the job funding to come through*

@Nonni F Do I dare ask how it is going with the hard drive? I think we have been there at some point and can tell you that I feel your pain. Good vibes going to it right now~~~~

@Su_Sanne Oh yeah, always bring coffee to keep me happy. :D My entire family, from my parents when I was a teen, to DH, and to my kids, all know to leave me alone until I have inhaled at least 1 cup.
Anyone with dogs is always welcome here too!

@vickyday Thank you for accepting me as a non-believer too. ♥ I am sorry to hear of the loss of your fellow church member.
How did you do with decluttering?

@taxed4ever How was the hike? I hope that the weather was wonderful for you. It was nice here- warm for February so I am not complaining at all! Was the trail very muddy after all of the rain?
Good luck to you and your ears and the pool! I hope that ear flushing does the trick and you can get back in the pool again.
heather will love the watch, I bet she will remember the trip you all took together every time she checks the time :heartpumppink:

@bcgal00 Was it fantastic to have the house by yourself for a little while? Please tell me all of the details, I am so jealous and want to live vicariously *G* Was it quiet, could you hear yourself think? I bet the air felt different too.
I am proud of Jen, I bet that she was conflicted about quitting but it was 100% the correct thing for her.
That is a great idea to scrap the dress on me and Cait. I wonder if I have one somewhere of me standing? I am sure I do, just no idea *where* LOL

@Cherylndesigns Good morning back to ya! Total shenanigans at my house, you know it! And always at your's too :pillowfight:
I want chickens, have wanted them for years. You are going to have to share lots of pictures of them when you get yours.

Good morning. Beautiful morning on the lanai! It is supposed to hit 83° today...might need to head over to the beach this afternoon. Need to finish up a couple more layouts from the Story of Me. And I made some homemade salad dressing yesterday so I really need to get to the store and pick up a few things for a big salad. Other than that, it will be a nice slow paced day.

Morning, gals. I am typing one handed... so won't be a long post. I did sleep better last night - only woke up 3 times and the pain in left shoulder has diminish a lot, thank goodness. I managed to get to the base to pick up my Rx prescriptions. Had to wait until the icy fog lifted around 10AM. There was new snow during the night but the roads were clear.
DD#3 is coming down this weekend and will change sheets on the bed for me. That is a big no-no for me for who knows how long.
I need to upload a couple of LOs I made for Karen Schulz last week - before the injury. Just a matter of copy and paste, thank goodness. HAGD

@faerywings I'm so sorry that Sam is continuing to have such a rough time. It's so very hard to know when it is time to let them go. And with the losses that she and her family have had recently, that must make it all so much more difficult. We didn't wind up going to the movie either...just stayed home. Lots of prayers and good thoughts coming for Sam and Puppa. Yes, I think that they still do matinees and that they are less expensive...but one movie in 4 years probably doesn't make me a real expert. ;)

@BrightEyes I am thinking about you. Hoping that the shoulder settles down a bit very soon and that you can get back to normal. Glad that DD#3 can make it over to help with your sheets.

@Nonni F I am so sorry that you are having problems with your EHD. I hope that you were able to get it solved...at least for the short term. Like Chris said, I think that we have all been burned at least once (and some of us are slower learners and it might be more than once) but it is so frustrating!

@Su_Sanne I'm on my third cup of coffee. I actually have a story about how I began drinking coffee. Another story that I need to document! Oh my goodness. And the dogs are wrestling on the sofa right now which is a little bit less than relaxing for me. :coffee1::runningdog:

@vickyday loved your explanation of how you accept people. With an older congregation, I'm sure that there are plenty of funerals. But they serve as good reminders of the joy of knowing where they will spend eternity.

@taxed4ever hope the hike was good. I love that Mickey Mouse watch and I'm sure that Heather will too. I love the way that you are always looking for ways to help her. Truly, a mom's job never ends. Really hope that this works for your ears and that you can get back into the pool again.

@bcgal00 I am so glad to hear that Jen is sleeping better. Hope you got the meatloaf made.

@Cherylndesigns yes...I think that you and I may have similar feelings about Florida. I'm sure that if we move away, I will miss some things about it. But, for now, I have at least 3 years left because I don't want to have to pay out of state tuition.

Have a good day friends!

Morning ladies...and we are back to the RAIN!! Well at least the weather stayed very nice for our hike yesterday! It was a very good one, with lots of ups and downs. The heart got a good workout yesterday! It worked out to be about 8.5k and there were 28 of us on this one. Our record is 30 people, the sun brought everyone out, it was good to see everyone! The Municipality are putting up all new signage on all of the hiking trails in the Valley and are they ever nice! Each post has a detailed map and a "you are here" spot and they are all numbered so that if you ever got lost you can tell them which post you are at (as long as you have a phone and cell coverage) and you should be easy to find. I had a lovely nice hot soak in the tub when I got home and today I am feeling just a bit stiff in my upper legs. I haven't done that much climbing for awhile, so its no wonder I am feeling it today. Back to the Doctor this afternoon to have my ears flushed out. Hopefully that does the trick! I ordered my bone conduction waterproof mp3 player yesterday, so this better work or I will be sending the player back. I have a layout to get posted to the gallery this morning and hope to work on another today. I also have the canvas ready for Hunter's requested painting, so just need to start on that too.

@faerywings - Of course I am sending out all good thoughts to Sam and Puppa today!! Guess he had a bit of a rally when he arrived at her Mom's, that seems to happen just before the end. :hug1: Gentle hugs for her! There were a few muddy spots on the hike yesterday, but really not too bad, its pretty well covered with lots of beautiful trees along most of the trail. Take care of your back today, enjoy laying low and perhaps you can catch up on a good book or something nice like that!

@BrightEyes - Happy to hear that you are sleeping a bit better! How great that your DD#3 is coming to help with the changing of the sheets! That is a big thing with me also, the sheets must be changed on a regular basis. I read somewhere that there are some (mostly single men) who only change their sheets once every couple of months EWWWWWW!! :eek2:

@LSlycord - Sounds like you will enjoy a beautiful day today! Lucky you! So nice to have the warm temps and laid back day! Send some of that lovely weather this way please! I hope you get to the beach today! Yes you are right, a Mother's job is never done! I sometimes worry a bit too much about Heather, but that's my job right?!!

@bcgal00 - Hope you get the meatloaf made today and that you enjoyed the quiet time in your house! How nice to hear that Jenn is doing better now that she has left that job. Sure hope she finds her dream job soon!

@Cherylndesigns - I had many chickens when I was a young girl, I just love them! The roosters not so much... they used to chase me around when I went to collect eggs LOL. So Dad made sure he got rid of all the males and then the chicken yard was a much happier place!!

@Nonni F, @Su_Sanne and @vickyday - I hope you are all enjoying a lovely morning and will join me in another cup of coffee! :drinks2: or whatever suits your fancy!! Have a great day everyone! :waving1

Good morning ladies. Today I am going to go for a drive with Remi and scrap a bit. I changed my mind about the meatloaf. I made a big batch of spicy taco meat instead and put that over a big salad for dinner with salsa, sour cream and a creamy garlic drizzle. Yum. Tonight I will have the same thing except I will roast parmesan green bean to go with it. Lunch will be my taco soup. Nice to have the menu planned for today. D can have pork chops and potato salad. Quick and easy. We watched the last 3 episodes of 911 Lone Star. What good episodes they were. They keep coming up with great storylines.

I ordered a 1.4 teleconverter for my 200-600 lens. Can't wait to get it. I think it'll be 2-3 wks but I'll have it in time for birding season to start. I will love having that extra reach to capture pics of the little birds. We have birds in both nesting houses on the fence. They are starting to bring their nesting materials in. None of the birds have touched the suet holders I put out but I'll leave them and hopefully eventually they will come. I would love to see a woodpecker start feeding here, I miss them from our place on the coast, they would come daily to feed.

I've started practicing up (front paws on my lap) when I tap my chest and then off, wait (she lays down on the floor and waits for me to call her up again). She loves training. She is the smartest dog I've ever had. I only have to show her a trick for a few minutes and she gets it. I've never had a dog that can calculate a plan like she can, for instance, she will go to the chair she is not allowed to disturb and will pull off a throw pillow from it, while staring at me, then drop it onto the floor. Her plan is to get me to come over to put the pillow back up on the chair and gee, since I'm there, want to play with this toy that is now lying beside the pillow? She doesn't want the pillow, she just wants to get me over there to entice me to play.

@faerywings Sending hugs to Sam, what a sad time for the family. As for quiet time, yes I do need it but I would share my space if you were here :) After all those years of having the house to myself during the day while D went to work, I can't stand to have noise all the time. I need to distance myself from it for a good part of the day. My 3rd floor foyer office space is perfect for me, the dogs love the open floor plan for play time and napping while I scrap and watch videos. Be careful today, take care of your back.

@LSlycord Enjoy the beach today. What salad dressing do you make? I make vinaigrette a lot b/c the store bought has carbs/sugar and I can make mine with stevia/monkfruit (no carbs).

D just got up, I'll say good morning, get more coffee and get out to feed the birds. HAGD everyone.

@taxed4ever I'm on my third coffee! EEEK. Do NOT check my BP.
As for the external hard drive... well... I'm not losing hope YET. I friend is going to pick it up, swearing he can get the stuff off it. I can't, so I guess I have nothing to lose.
Thankfully it isn't YEARS worth since I have other back ups but it's the last six months worth. (Again shame on me) but KUDOS to Oscrap that let me go back as far as I needed to get the stuff I'd purchased. Most places 72 hours, 15 days and it's a hard no...
This too shall pass. In the big picture. It's not that BIG of a deal.
@BrightEyes I hope today has been a better day.

AWWW! Losing a pet is NEVER easy! They are part of the family and losing family hurts! So sad to hear they are putting Sam's gma into hospice at this particular time, too! It's never easy, but especially when you are already hurting! Big hugs and prayers for Sam and her family and yours! :heartpumpred: :heartpumpred: :heartpumpred: :hug2::hug2::hug2:
Hope your back is better soon! Taking it easy is probably the best thing you can do! :heartpumpred::heartpumpred::heartpumpred:

I have to remember that I am not the Judge of people! I have to leave that up to God! I'll have enough trouble standing before Him in the judgment, so I try not to add that sin to the list, LOL! And I have enough trouble keeping myself out of trouble! I think that is one of the reasons He gave me a preacher for a husband! And I even tried to thwart that by telling Tim I didn't want to marry a preacher! But, we see how that worked out, LOL! But, by the time he surrendered to the ministry I was ready to be on board! No regrets! I just try to let Him lead in what I say when I say it, trying to keep Him as my focal point in how I live!
Yes, ours is an older congregation. The kids and grandkids have all given up on us! The pastor and his wife bring two of their granddaughters that live next door to them when they can, but that is it! It's sad, really!

Good afternoon!
I didn't make it back yesterday like I had planned to. After the funeral Ilene and I went to Ruby Tuesday for their $6.99 salad bar deal of the day. Mark had to go back to work. After I took her back to her car at the funeral home, she went to Carolyn's and I came back home to do some more decluttering. That didn't really happen. It was not long before Mark would be home, so I went ahead and fixed up a batch of Little Cheddar Loaves (glorified meat loaf) and cook some chicken to be ready for salads. And I put on a pot of green beans, potatoes and bacon grease. By the time Mark got home and got his shower the cheddar loaves, potatoes and green beans were ready for him to eat his supper. I did not eat since it hadn't been that long after eating the salad bar with Ilene. I did eat some soup after church, however.

I did get my knitting, crochet, and double-pointed knitting needles, and circular knitting needles sorted through and organized. I kept one each of the different sizes of crochet hooks (30 in total) and got rid of 70 duplicates! For the knitting needles, I kept one pair of each size and two if they were different lengths and got rid of the rest. Same for the double-pointed and circular. I am boxing/bagging everything up immediately and carrying them out to the car for donation. That way I am NOT looking at it and thinking, hmmmm.....I could PROBABLY/MAYBE/but DOUBTFUL... use...give...sell... or whatever and end up hanging onto it!

Today I woke up with a headache since our weather has changed to cloudy again and rain is expected tonight. But I took some tylenol and just worked with it. I started on my closet today. I took my jammies off and tried on everything and if it didn't fit because I couldn't get it buttoned, snapped, or zipped.....it went into the give away/donate pile! If I had duplicates (how many black skirts do you need, afterall, LOL) it went! If I hadn't worn in the last (at least) 6 months, it went! I cleaned out a good 3 foot section of closet space! Most of it was good stuff that I asked my pastor's wife if she was interested in. She is! So, I bagged it up, put her name on it, and took it to the car! I'm giving her skirt hangers, too! She will look through it and then pass it on to her sister. Tomorrow I will start going through dresser drawers!

I did take a break and go to lunch with Mark. He needed a break from work, LOL! Now, I'm sitting with a heated rice bag propped between my shoulders and have taken some more tylenol and plan to do nothing else the rest of the day! I may work on the new puzzle I've started.....just in the sorting stage right now. We shall see! I was only able to eat half of my lunch, so Mark will probably finish that up and eat leftovers for supper. If I eat anything it will probably be some more soup, but much later!

Hugs to all! :hug2:

CHEERY O
Good afternoon all.

Chris @faerywings I'm sending lots of hugs to Sam and Puppa - really to all of you. Losing a pet or just making that decision is SO hard. I don't have any words of wisdom - it's just hard. We had a big ole Lab/Shepherd mix named Bailey who weighed 120 pounds. We were ready to put him down and he did the same thing as Puppa. His "bounce back" lasted for a few months, but we loved him for the rest of his time. Our ex-SIL was a vet and he was all ready to come to our house and put Bailey to sleep. Chuck wanted to bury him out in the back of our house in the woods. By the time Steve (SIL) got there, he was running around like a pup. He had cancer too. One thing I did - you might try this - I went to a Catholic Bookstore and bought him a St. Francis's medal. They told me to put it on him and just love him. He had a good quality of life for more than a year. He wasn't young, either. I tied it on a piece of black leather and tied it around his neck. He wore it until he left us. i'm sure you can ou can probably get them on Amazon now.

I'll try to pop in later - it's Grand Central Station here today - what's new?????:rotfl:
