I am seeing the kight at the end ofthe tunnel, truly i am!!!! All of my gift baskets are done, yahoooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

I forgot a couple of things, like taking pics of them before they get wrapped in cellophane. I like to take pics of each and as you all know, its easier to do it pre-reflective coating. But no matter, I am not about to unwrap them. I had Gary laughing his butt off at me yesterday. I use about a roll of tape for each basket and I grumble and curse the entire time.
If you have every tried to fit multiple items of different shapes and sizes into a round container and then wrap it all with sheets of cellophane and not let anything inside the basket roll around at the same time, then you know exactly why I grumble and curse!

but done done done!! Today and tomorrow I have cleaning clients, then I am ready to bake this weekend!

Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eva- did you get any of your projects done? ITA with wanting it to be the day after C-mas....even better in some ways that I don't have to worry about cleaning up a gazillion toys and barbie shoes and legos. LOL

Phyllis?? Phyllis? Are you there? I hope that you didn't climb into your closet and decide it was much nicer to hide out for the day.
I am so happy for you and your g-son. Hope he is on his way home and feeling better every day!

Trudy- 2 more sleeps for you! I can't imagine not seeing my kids for extended times.I hate Stocking Stuffers too. When the kids were little, it was easy. Now it feels like I am wasting money on junk I am going to end up throwing out in a matter of days. Yesterday I went to the other supermarket in town. I had a coupon to use and had to spend $50 to use it.I went up and down the aisles and bought food for their stocking. Sardines for Gary, Scott got Cocoa and bubble gum, Cait got a different kind of gum, Bunny got a chew stick.... at least its stuff that they can use.

Eva and everyone: What do you cook for your holiday dinner? I have done everything from full sit down to chips and dip, but I am lost about what i should do this year. Any ideas for something easy?

Thanks!

Sally- how is the blog stuff going? I mean to check in every day but life has been so busy! Not that you have any idea about that ;) JK!!

ToT:
i want to get my client's house cleaned as quickly as possible, instead of doing a good job, so I can get home and scrap. Totally evil! :peep:

MOrning O friends/family- My day off and the official start of no work until 2012- much to do today though, shopping, wrapping, laundry, and ending the day with a night out with friends. Please send prayers and positive thoughts to my SIL who is undergoing surgery for a broken hip suffered in a fall last night. Okay- off to the races!

Morning ladies!

Been one of those weeks so far. I've had a plan each day and been out the window as other things need to get done. My elderly mother lives with us and some days that is a job in itself with her appts. and taking care of her affairs. 'Maybe' all is caught up for now.

This AM off to the stylist for a cut and color..........oh, I LOVE this person! She works magic.

Chris-Congrats on all you have accomplished so far for the holidays! WTG! I know what you mean about the stockings. My kids are older and still do them...........facewash, earmuffs for keeping warm on campus, contact solution, Wal-Mart card for necessities and will find a few more practical items yet to put in them.

Laurie-Enjoy your time off and certainly prayers for your SIL. Poor thing. We all feel so busy right now and can't imagine this set back. Good thoughts for her.

Enjoy your Thursday ladies.
Feeling like a few laughs would help me today.

Thought I would share this funny story from work- yday my first little pt and mom checked in and as we were walking back the mom moved her coffee towards me and said- do you have time for a sip? to which I must have had a priceless look on my face and I replied- why do you ask (all the while thinking- really share your coffee?) and then she said- it was a gift for me - starbucks- I never buy starbucks, but do enjoy it, so I gladly took a sip. I had been up since 330- couldn't sleep due to so much on my plate- this made my third cup= I only drank 1/3 and I was flying all day- wonder if there was extra caffeine in there?

Morning ladies, I've been a little scarce the last few days.....trying to get everything done at work so my team isn't left with lots of stuff to do. I will be going to see my mom tomorrow. Sounds like they will try weening her from the resperator today, depending on how she does they will or not do the trach tomorrow.

Please pray that she will do well and won't need the trach to help her breath.....

always chatty at the O!!
My goodness...so much illness and injury this time of year. For some reason it seems to work that way. Hospitals are always bus around the holidays...as are the Child Services programs. My sister who is a social worker is always extra busy this time of year. She no longer works on the CPS side of things and is on the reconciliation side again...so that makes things a bit better, but it still get crazy.

So, it has been a pretty crazy week. The 12 Days stuff took a little bit of time, but I really like how it turned out...make sure you check out the challenge threads that will be up until Dec. 31. There are some awesome prizes to be won.

So last night our friend Dave came over. He's deploying next month and has been getting all of his paperwork in order. He's given me and Derek different POAs and was filling us in on stuff...including will stuff. It was horribly daunting and it was freaking me out. I was glad to have talked to him about his living will stuff. He was going to go home for the holidays and talk to his family about what they wanted to do...but I think Derek and I got him straightened out so that he figures out what he would want done and tells them what they would need to do. I told him he needed to use one of his sisters, not his parents since they are divorced. WE had to give him examples of why it is important to tell people what you want done and not leave it open. I think he got it by the time he left. He's the same age as Derek and all the talk of possibly dying really freaked me out. I kept yelling at him and telling him it had all better be for nothing because if we have to actually remember all that stuff I'd kick his butt. But some stuff is important...he's keeping his apartment while he's gone rather than packing it up and losing his place in that complex. They are full so he could lose his place. I'll have to renew his lease later next year...we have to check on his place and make sure the pipes do't burst or anything...dust once in awhile. Keep the thermostat someplace that won't cost him very much, that kind of stuff. That stuff I can handle.

Well, Addie went to Disney on Ice with our friend Andrea (mrsaboyer) last night and slept in for a bit...but now she's up so I'd better get going. I'm sorry I don't check in regularly...but I do check on you guys quietly. I miss my fabulous Daylies!!

Have a fantastic day everyone!!

'morning, ladies. Chris, i did emerge from the closet and cubby hole, grumbling and carrying heavy things. well. THAT's done. now i can get on with my more-and-more minimalist decorating, which consists of about 8 different kinds of small-ish trees, some Santas, some Matrushkas and assorted bling scattered around.

Laurie and Frani, prayers a good thoughts going out to your loved ones. Frani, i hope the trach gets removed successfully. Laurie, keep her moving as much as they suggest. and make sure everyone who's near her washes their hands!

Donna, your rewards are great in Heaven. your Mom is so lucky to have you.

Clara, i know talking about stuff like that is freaky, but OH, so necessary. just to lighten up our Christmas Season, my husband and i went to the cemetery last Sunday to buy the place we'll be planted. now THAT was weird! (haHAAAA!!!! i made a PAGE of it!) but, as i told my kids, now all you have to do is show up and cry. everything is taken care of! i'm sure your friend feels better because he has friends who are able to take care of things. he needs to know that, i think.

it's supposed to pour rain today and blow a gale. maybe a good day to stay indoors and CLEAN for a change....

happy Thursday!

Traditional Swedish Christmas dinner is a smörgåsbord:
640px-Julbord.jpg

Read here at Wikipedia: Smörgåsbord

We only have what we like, we are 3 peeps - no point in cooking stuff no one wants :)
We have:
- christmas ham (no Christmas is a Christmas without the ham - rule #1!)
- prinskorv (small sausages of high quality)
- meat balls (homemade! rule #2)
- Janssons frestelse (Temptation - looooooooove this!)
- sill (pickled herring)
- potatis (plain boiled potatoes)
- ägghalvor (egg halves decorated with mayo and caviar)
- rökt korv (smoked sausage)
- rödbetssallad (beetroot salad - cooked beetroot, diced and mixed with a mayo sauce)
- julmust (Christmas soda)

So far - I've done the meat balls. And today we had borrowed my sister's car, cuz John had an dr's appointment in our neigbor town ... so - we went shopping. I have everything I need to prepare the ham and the Jansson, and almost everything else is bought too.

Christmas - here I come!

I actually totally forgot until my husband reminded me today...Dave is deploying with Special Forces this time around and so a lot of his deployment stuff is a lot more extreme. He's never had to be quite so thorough on a deployment before. He used to be a rigger...which are the people who pack the parachutes...but now he is in Civilian Affairs which buddies up with SF. he's gotten to do a lot of cool things like off-road classes and ATV stuff...but lots of scary stuff too. I know we will be praying extra hard for him while he's gone.

Belated hello to all. Fortunately, all is well here, and Dick is even able to drive now. He goes in to see 'our' cardiologist next week for a mini-stress test to determine if he should get a 2nd stent or just diet and exercise. I really wish he'd exercise and get more active but I haven't been the greatest example. I know enough not to nag and fuss, but...I pray. I can do a pretty good job of careing for the diet without being stingy esp as our dr does say once you're on Lipitor it's mainly exercise that's needed. Fortunately, 'we' never have fast food but I know he used to get it when he was out working. That too has mostly ended.

Love to all of you who have family to care for now. Remember the old line... A son's a son til he takes a wife, but a daughter's a daughter the rest of her life. So so true for most of us.

Well, I got the front wreaths up today, not on the upstairs windows though. Not going out on the roof this year! The door lights are up and godwilling will stay up. Staples into the plastic wood nearly drove me over the brink! So I am done decorating!

Tomorrow I hope to get back in the swing here, when Dick and another guy go to WVA to visit the mutual friend with ALS. That kind of puts all of life into perspective for me...cya soonest!

Just me, checking up on everyone! Feel like a mother hen sometimes. Read your posts, pray and send loving thoughts and yes, even worry....
My life is quiet and relatively trouble free especially when I read about your days - and nights.
I know I don't say too much and I don't answer each post but I do read and understand what many of you go thru.
Take care and lotsa warm hugs.
