hey hey! Its a Thursday that's like a Friday. Are any of you off tomorrow for Good Friday?

It will be really nice to not have to do anything tomorrow. I do have to go down to BJ's and get more candy bars. The kids sold out yesterday. They have raised over $100 for Torie. So proud of them. they made more cookies and choc covered pretzels yesterday. Another girl is making fudge. Cait is going to get a table at her school's fair on Monday so we'll need more stuff for that. These kids rock!

I am off to clean today- and then this afternoon/tonight is caitlyn's semi-formal. her bff is coming over at 5 to get dressed/hair/make-up and then the dance starts at 7. i already warned her that I want nice pics of her, yes she can have goofy ones too- but I want a few good ones for myself.

I have to get up and walk around- my hip is still so stiff and painful :(

morning- no extra days off for me- work does not consider this a holiday- we only get 5- and it is my weekend to be on call. Oh well. My Easter dinner plans are for brunch at a restaurant!

The sun is shining, the sun is shining- off to get dressed, do housework, other work and this afternoon- GARDEN!!!!!!! Oh yeah, I am excited. BTW- mr gorgeous sent me gorgeous flowers at work- gotta love that man.- reason- I nailed him on not being very present when he was off the road last weekend. I expected them on monday and he said- I can't send you flowers when you expect them... I still get flowers more often than anyone else at work.

Good Morning Ladies... Another sunny morning here today, it always starts off looking great then by the afternoon it turns cloudy and sometime it rains a bit also. But oh well its nice to see the sun for a bit anyway! Another full day of work today, then tomorrow I have to go in for just 4 hours. So no good Friday off for me either. Saturday we are headed to Costco and stocking up on lots of items that we have been in need of for a while now. Ouch on the pocket book, but in the long run it should save us money and time spent going to the grocery store.

Chris - hope your hip feels better soon, I am also achy all over, but I am sure its not for the same reason, I feel badly for you sweetie and I am sending pain free thoughts your way!

Laurie - I am so jelous that you get to spend time in your garden! Have fun and get dirty!! How nice that you get flowers from your Mr. G!! Mine rarely sends me any, however I did get a lovely bouquet of lillies for my birthday. Your Mr. G must be a romantic!! Lucky you!!

sunny, beautiful- on my mower- and hmmm what is that black thing- oh the belt that turns the mower deck- even if I buy one, I am not going to be able to get it on- argh-I'll have mr gorgeous pick one up on his way home and then I will mow lawn- so looking forward to lawn mowing- guess it is weeding and planting instead!
 
Hey ladies!!

I was scheduled to do shelter work today, but when I was getting up Addie woke up too and said she needed some water. Next thing I know I hear her coughing and then she yells "I'm sick." So needless to say I stayed home with her. She was being super sweet though. She's been mostly hating me for the last weekish, with a couple of good days thrown in. But she wouldn't talk to me, hug me, kiss me, anything. If I tried to give her a hug she would run to her dad. Me and her are gonna butt heads so bad when she is a teenager. Her and Ethan are so different. He is very empathetic and loves his momma until the end of time. She has about half of his empathy but is also a total diva. But being sick had her being super sweet. She was freezing so she even snuggled. I'll take what I can get. I thought I had 13 years until she was a teenager but instead she was born a teenager.

So, I did work at the shelter yesterday. It was great. It was interesting though because most of the people we ended up helping were not people at the shelter. The Department of Social Services set up a booth at the shelter for emergency food stamps. So there were hundreds of people coming through for that and so we provided services for them. We had snacks and some meals and a table with toiletries. When I got there the offered toiletries were kinda sparse and so would keep the table stocked but not with a bunch of extras because some people would come and take all of something. Then a company from the 82nd at Ft. Bragg came in and asked what we needed and they told them toiletry items. So they came back with hundreds of dollars worth of stuff from the dollar store. People swarmed before we could even get it on the tables. They also brought a ton of KFC. Then some group brought some Easter baskets and we upset some people because we said we would only give them to kids who were there. Some people just didn't understand that we only had a small supply of stuff and that there was an unlimited supply of items. I'm just so glad that we made some of the kids happy and helped out so many people. Some of the people were just greedy take take take types but I'd say most of them just needed and I am glad there was enough stuff to help all of them while I was there. It was amazing to see how much of the community pitched in to help out by giving and helping. It is awesome. I did get some pictures yesterday I will have up on FB later. I was trying to get a picture of a friend of mine's house who no longer lives here but the road was blocked off. I hope to get that soon for her. She named her son after the street they lived on. Derek went and helped a lady get a tarp on her house. They have no power so haven't been able to watch the news and weather reports sp she didn't know it was supposed to rain. It was supposed to rain last night so he told her to go get some tarps and then he would come back in a couple of hours to help her get it off. She had no idea it was supposed to storm. We have had amazing weather since the tornados...yesterday was in the low 80's. She thought her roof was in pretty good shape and Derek told her without the shingles rain would leak through the nail holes in the paper. Amazingly she had some shingles because she was going to put new ones on her two sheds she had in the back...but she no longer had sheds so Derek and one of his guys got her roof as ready for rain as they could. This whole situation reminds me of that story in the original Chicken Soup for the Soul book about the starfish. I wish we could help a bunch of people but even if we help make things easier for one I'm good with that.

Alright...enough about that. I'm sorry to go on and on about it but I have just never been in a disaster zone and this just seems to take over my entire being. Anyway...personals:

Chris - your kids rock!! I hope Caitlyn makes some good money this weekend. My kids don't have tomorrow off unfortunately. It will be a makeup day for snow days. But then we have Spring Break next week. I hope you hip feels better soon.

Laurie - awesome about getting to garden and how sweet of YMG. He gets cool points for sure. You are awesome mowing your lawn. I have never mowed a lawn in my life and wouldn't even know how to start a mower.

Suzy - You have a great day too.

Trudy - Have fun at work. I miss that weather so much. If I get a chance I think you should meet me in Victoria and I'll take the clipper up. My kids would love Victoria. Or maybe I'll look and see if there are any room specials up there. My mom has talked about Ocean Shores but maybe Vancouver Island should get our money instead. We'll see.

HI ladies......I have not died!! I am still here!!

Sorry to have been so MIA....but I have been under the weather.....

hopefully I will be back up to par in a few days....my body just needed a real rest!! So I have been taking a break from just about everything!!

I need to read and catch up on you girlies...I will try to do that tomorrow!!

Wooo!!! It's my birthday!!!! Since we already celebrated by going out of town over our days off... today I spent catching up on things around the house. Last night I finally got some sleep, but I couldn't fall asleep until I cleaned out the office. Hmm, maybe Jeff's OCD is rubbing off on me?
So, with the office cleaned out... I went to costco and saw they had reduced the printer I went in to buy by $20!! Woo! Happy birthday to me!!! Then double awesome - they started carrying Special K Chips, which are a huge hit in our house! So I walked out with the printer, special k chips, and special k cereal ($2 off coupon.) By then Jeff was ready to hit OSH, where we got 100lbs of charcoal for only $32!!!!! Steal!!! So I think we're set for the summer :) or half of it at least.
At home we set up the printer & I got ready for my other two shopping trips to target and wal mart. At Wal Mart I ended up fighting with the cashier about their coupon policy, and just when I gave up... the manager came over and said I was right!!! Wooo!!!!! So that saved me even more money. It was slightly embarrassing because I was in the express lane and people were getting mad, but I knew I was right... and the lady behind me would of had the same issue if I hadn't set the precedent.
I've got to finish my cleaning and get dinner started... but here's some freebies for Earth Day that you all should go for!!!

happy late night thursday!!!

I accomplished a whole boatload of stuff today...all while resting in between stuff and cooking dinner in the crockpot (thank GOD for the crockpot!!). Yay!!

I'm going to do a little bit of scrapping before i hit the hay!!

Oh i forgot to say to Chris...

Tonight was Cora's first formal, too!! It was her "jr prom"!! In the homeschooling group we hang with, it's called a gala. And she had a date!!! MY baby is all growed up!!! yikes!!! I'm gonna go scrap a pic of the two of them that I got!! :)
