Daily Ooo's TGIF Friday Feb 6

Good morning ladies!!

I should actually be sleeping. I decided that since I am still awake and it is technically tomorrow (Friday) I would go ahead and start the daily O's!! I worked at the hospital yesterday which was fun but it did get pretty crazy. I had some little old man hit on me, which always makes me laugh. I was joking with him and asked him if he wanted a warm blanket or a stuffed animal and he said me. I told him they only gave me out on Mondays and Fridays. He was a day early. It made me laugh anyway. It was a good day. Busy but good. Man my feet hurt though. I am so not used to walking around all day. I like my lazy little world in my clinic but it is good for me. Plus it might motivate me to make some changes. I really need to train in something new. I just have to decide if I want to go into MRI or Mammo. My husband thinks I'm crazy wanting to go into Mammo. Not because I would take pics of breasts all day long but because it is a clinic filled with women which can always lead to trouble. I just really like the Patient care side of it and knowing that I am the reason they do or do not come back for their exam next year. I mean there is nothing glamorous about slapping the womenly parts of your body onto a cold slab and them having some stranger squish it flatter than you thought possible not to mention stretching it all out. Not fun. But it needs to be done and I'm okay with being the one who does it. I really think that is the direction I would like to go in, so I just got my answer by rambling on to all of you. I just hate change.

So, I got a call that they need me again at the hospital. I was really looking forward to doing a little scrapping, finishing my taxes and going to the post office, but I guess occasionally I should actually work for my paycheck.

I hope that everyone has a had a great week. I thought I would have a day this weekend to regroup before I had an extra kid but it doesn't look like that is going to be the case. I think we'll get him tonight. Then my hubby wants to go snowboarding Saturday and I think I have to drive my friend to the airport so that she can be there by 6AM. I'm not looking forward to Saturday at all at the moment.

Well, it looks like today is going to be a coffee day. I'm feeling like a white chocolate raspberry mocha. So grap your own froufrou coffee drink and enjoy your day.

Chris - I hope your boys had a blast at the concert. That sounds awesome. That also really stinks that Gary has gotten sicker. I hope recovery and cures come quickly for Lyme. And I agree...the O's have gotten a little quiet lately.

Sandra - I don't know what else to say to you about all you are going through. My heart absolutely breaks for you so just know I am always thinking about you and constantly praying for you and your dad.

ME - I hope you had a blast last night. I hope you spend a few minutes to tell us all about it. I'll bet the food was yummy. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Karen - I love the new avi. So cute. I totally understand about the daddy thing. Our DH is a daddy's girl through and through. She gets excited when I come home, gives me a hug and a kiss and then is all about daddy again. We knew this was how it would be which is why my husband vowed many years ago to never have a girl. Haha!!

ChrisT - It sounds like you have your work cut out for you with your boys. I can only imagine the changes you have to make in your life plan when you find out a diagnosis like that about your children. It amazes me how parents who find these things out go home, cry a bit, then fall right back into their lives and do the best they can and love their children that much more. You have to be a great woman. Feel free to vent all you need. This is a safe place. I vent some but ramble more.

Linda - you are still amazing me with your designing bug. I get to frustrated too quick, plus my computer is slow. Keep it up. Also, I am so jealous of your greek thumb. I could probably kill a weed if someone gave it to me in a pot. I'm horrible.

Sally - You make homeschooling sound like so much fun. I want to be home schooled? Can I be in your class?? That 4-D theater sounds so cool.

Sara - I'm sending some chicken noodle your way. I'm sorry that you got the internet flu. It seems like we are all getting our turn. I hope you get feeling great soon.

Hi Clara- thanks for starting the Ooo's! I am so tired- I might have bailed on it today. Nah, I would never do that, but I am really tired.

I think you would be awesome in Mammo. I haven't gotten one yet, even tho I am 40. My gyn. said that I had enough health problems on my plate last year and one year wouldn't hurt. I doubt he will say the same this year as I am almost 41 sheesh. Seriously, I think you would be so caring and compassionate. Go for it!

Sandra- you most likely are *not* getting enough sleep, let alone restful sleep. Please try to make time for you- some designing or scrapping or just closing your eyes and breathing. You dad would hate to see you so worried about him.
Good luck with the family - I hope it is helpful to you, not stressful.

ME- yes, how was dinner? Sounds delish!!

Karen- Oh, I remember those days-- moms become persona non grata -- I think it is b/c the kids feel so safe, they know they can push us away and we'll always be there. Love the avi- you can tell he love ya!!!

Chris- as you know- I vent all the time about out helth and finance crap- feel free to do the same! Good luck with everything, there just doesn't seem enough time in the day to care for the family and ourselves. Thanks for the squooshy hugs!

Stop making me jealous LindaP! 46* and plants! All we have here is 9* and ice boo hiss! Mudvayne... way cool! Gary said that that there was a huge range of ages- and *lots* of kids and dads. See, we are not getting older... we are just finding a way to keep on enjoying what the young crowd does

Sally- Clara is right- how many times have I said I wished you could homeschool me too? LOL I adore museums and wish we had the $$ to keep up our membership. And to have the energy and pain-free days to walk them ---- someday, we'll be there again.

Sara- hope you are feeling better and better every day.

Cora-- LOL!! *hugs* BTW, did Caitlyn ever tell you what we got her for C-mas? I bet she didn't..... I'll have to make her come on and post a pic.

The concert last night was great apparently. Gary just showed me some pics he took of Scott headbanging. Too cute- I joked asking that shouldn't we be "scared" of this... but I guess coming from two headbanger parents, it is not such a big deal. It is actually kind of nice to go grab new music off of the kid's itunes library LOLOL!

Cait and I watched iCarley (ick) and then played almost 2 hours of Raving Rabbids. We are both so bad at it, so we are more evenly matched then when Gary and Scott play with us.
The I spent an hour looking up doctors on HMO plans. We have to choose a NJ HMO plan for our new state insurance. Trying to find most of our drs had been a bit difficult. The only ones I really care about are the kids' ped. and Scott's Ped. Cardiologist. At this point I rarely see a GP and I see my gyn once a year. I love my gyn, but I know he only takes one or twoplans so I am not going to have any luck with him, for sure.
Our Lyme dr's don't participate in *any* insurance- it is all out of pocket, so I guess that is a "plus."

I was supposed to be cleaning today, but my client is still sick, so while it is nice to have the day "off" that means no $$.
What are you gonna do?

So today is goignto be filled with calling drs and insurance companies- yay rah! Fun fun fun!! Who wants to come and help me??

good morning! I'm actually getting in here early today... yesterday was a long day, and apparently I ticked off my sister... I am the oldest child and listed as Daddy's next of kin... which means that any decisions that are made, papers that are signed, etc falls to me... yesterday they did Daddy's gallbladder procedure (inserting a drain tube)... they wheeled him down to CT to do the procedure and only then did the doctor come out and explain the procedure... there was some risk involved (bile leaking around the tube and/or liver damage)... my uncle who was and EMT for many years and ran an ambulance service was there and listened... I just ask if he felt with the risk involved I should let them do it because I didn't have time to find a place to call my sister... and she's MAD! But I saw Daddy and he's doing fine... they did managed to drain off a lot of fluid and we should start seeing some improvement in his jaundice... the procedure went well, and it was riskier to do it than not do it... Sherry's just giving me lots of grief for it...

Last night we took the kids out to dinner at Outback... my MIL had given us a gift card at Christmas but we hadn't used it yet... and with me being gone so much lately it was a chance to spend some time together... I popped in at the hospital at 9:00 and Daddy was resting... I'm going back sometime today, but have to clean house and such as Mom and Sherry will be coming later this evening.

Okay... sorry I was long-winded!

Clara - thank you... you don't need to say anything hon... just knowing you're here is wonderful!

Chris - you're probably right... but I don't think I'll get enough sleep until this is all over and Daddy's showing improvement... I did start a layout yesterday, but I haven't had a chance to finish it... I'm gonna do that this morning

It's Friday! And day three of my "jeans week" YAY! I've gotten so much straightening and cleaning done in my classroom and greenhouse! Not sure what our plan is for this weekend, I think I need to pull some venison out of the freezer and grind into "hamburger" and maybe make some sausage too. We're out of hamburger so I have to get it done. There are several deer worth of meat cubed up and frozen waiting for me...... big fun! It's not that bad, just messy and hugely time consuming.
Not much else happening so I'll head off to see what else happened here on the forum while I slept.

Clara- My mom is a double breast cancer survivor. She had her first mastectomy at age 43 when I was a junior in high school and the second when I was a freshman in college. She found both of them herself through self exam. She, by the way, will celebrate her 72nd birthday this month! All that is to say, I commend your interest in mammography. I have so many friends who are breast CA survivors and they realy credit mammography for helping to find it. Good luck!

Chris - I've been having a mammo every year since I was 28 (46 now) because of my mom's history. so - don't let the grass grow under your feet on the way to get one this year! What would we do here without you? As for our weather, it will get crappy again, just wait day or two

ME - I want to hear abou tlast night!

Sally - the museums sound fabulous. Wanna come be on our admin staff so we can do cool stuff like that? Oh, wait, I live in South Dakota - huge shortage of cultural activities here Sounds like you do amazing things with your kids' education! Kudos! Most of the home schooled kids we get are trainwrecks! I would bet that your kids are just the opposite!

Karen - my daughter that's 18 and a freshman at Stanford came home for Christmas break, walked in the door, hugged me, dropped her stuff on the kitchen floor and RAN to the living room and crawled in the recliner with her Dad! Mind you she is 5'10 and on the rowing team at Stanford - muscle bound child. Dad is 6'2" and a former body builder. Some day that chair is going to just melt underneath them Sometimes they just love dad best! But just be thankful they have a dad in their lives that cares for them and reciprocates their feelings. There have been times in my life when my girls have not had that and I am thankful every day that Mr. Wonderful loves my kids as they love him!

Sandra - try to get some down time. I know that is easier said than done. Keep us posted and we'll keep praying. Love you!

Sandra - you snuck in while I was posting. So glad to hear that the gall bladder procedure went well. I would think that that should definitely make a difference. Don't worry, or at least try not to worry, about your sister. There are some things that have to take precedence and if you can't find time to make a call, then she should just be glad that you are there being consumed by this and she is able to come and go. Wonder if she'd be so eager to trade responsibilities with you? Have a wonderful Friday and enjoy the time with your family.

P.S. I LOVE the bloomin onions at Outback!

Hiya ladies, well, the Lunar New Year banquet was great. There were like 300-400 people there. Wow! Lots of school staff and community leaders. We ate and ate and ate. The walnut shrimp was my favorite, and I tried Chinese beer for the first time. Now I am not much of a beer drinker, but I really liked this beer a lot. I'd say it was a "girl" beer because it was so sweet. During the dinner, they had some children's groups come in to entertain - there was traditional Korean drumming and dancing, and the Chinese Lion Dance. I so wish I had brought my camera. It was awesome.

Clara - girl, you crack me up. I'll have a white chocolate mocha with whipped cream with you!!

Chris - share the headbanging pictures!!


Sandra - glad to hear you all got to go out to eat. Yum! And glad to hear the procedure went okay -- sorry to hear though that your sister gave you hard time.

Linda - Jeans day! I'm wearing my denim today too. It's friday after all.

Sandra - Don't worry about your sister. All gallbladder procedures are pretty simple and go well. When patients are that sick doctors really try and make good decisions that will improve not worsen. One of their jobs is to balance risk over improvement. Jaundice really makes everything worse so you made a good decision going with the flow on that. As far as your sister goes try and take it with a grain of salt because you're there and she's not. Like Linda said do you really think she'd trade places with you right now. Just try and remember everyone is probably stressed and feeling useless so frustration comes out in sometimes horrible and hurtful ways.

hey everyone!!

just wanted to drop by and send out MEGA HUGS to everyone!!! I went to my OB this morning for a recheck of the dreaded pap...LOL...and had a really great conversation with him about cervical cancer...if you can have a good conversation about that! Anyway, i tested negative for it so far! LOL!!! The coolest was that I brought Lillian to see him again. He is still stunned that she is doing so well after her crazy birth. So it was really fun to see his reaction to her. He was like, "She's really alright! I mean, she's doing really alright!!" It was cute!! LOL!!! and then he gave Lil and Quent (who, yes, were waiting outside the room during the exam...hehheh!!) M&Ms and they were his best friend then!! LOL!!

not that you guys wanted to hear about my ob appt!! but we are family! LOL!!! I've decided that the semi-hypochondriac part of me (very small part of me! LOL!!) really likes going to any doctor to hear that yes, I am doing just fine!! lol!!

Have a wonderful Friday...mine is now consumed with children, Target, Mr Gorgeous (later ), and our First Friday Worship and Prayer service at church!! I'm lifting up all ya'll's healings!! So get ready to feel better!!

Hi all - Sounds like most of you are in good spirits. Happy weekend!

I'm on the mend, but every time I eat, my tummy gets a little icky. Then, my cell phone rang at school at 1:15. Ben has a fever of almost 102. Geesh. I should have expected it after me being sick. So, my principal is covering my last class and I came home and am trying to get Ben to take a nap. Why does he nap at daycare and not at home? I don't get it. Maybe the motrin will kick in soon and he'll conk out. He did just lay down....so that's good.

Anyway...I have to scrap and finish my school budget this weekend. woo-hoo. Exciting. And I would love to dig my house out of the mess that it is right now. Chris I would love to have you come clean, but you wouldn't be able to find things right no. It's baaaaaad.

O.k. I'm going to go be productive if I can. TTYL!

Ha...I take that almost every night. I am a complete night owl and wouldn't ever go to sleep on time if I didn't. The docs say it's non-habit forming. But the allergist did say that a recent study determined that two Benadryl is the equivalent of being legally intoxicated. Crazy huh?

I hate benedryl. It makes me feel like doodoo the next day. I like taking ambien on the rare occasions that I need something. But it is a prescription medication so not as simple as gping to the drugstore.
