Daily Ooos: October 4-5: Weekend Edition

CHEERY O
Hello, O-friends and fam! ♥
I hope everyone is feeling well-rested and ready for the weekend.

Another sunny and dry day is on tap for my area. The drought is getting worse and we now have fire and water restrictions. Everything was pretty crunchy outside yesterday.

The field trip went great! The kids seemed like they were having a lot of fun trying to find the hidden birds. I had printed 10 birds that would be common to North Jersey and they we approximately the same size as they would be in real life. I hid them in places they would likely be found-- the house finch was on the ground, the mourning dove on top of a fence. The groups had to find each bird, ID it, and then we discussed where we found them, if it was hard or easy to see them etc.
And then.... and then. It was all fun and games until Miss Chris tripped and fell on her wrist :giggle4:
We were playing a game where beach balls were "birds" and we had to help them "migrate" from a starting line to a finish line. Once they reached the end, we moved the finish line farther out. While I was walking, I tripped over the branch that was being used as the finish line, went down on hands and knees. I know it's not broken, it doesn't feel it at all. I am 99.9% sure I broke my right wrist when I fell on ice years ago. That was extremely painful in one specific spot, this is more generalized across my wrist. I have to say that another broken bone was a concern, I am fragile. :rotfl:

Today is going to be a rest day for my wrist so I can be in good shape for the GS program tomorrow. I'll go over the lesson and see if I can figure out the what and where and timing of the day.

What fun plans do you have for the weekend?

Good morning.
Spent more than an hour with the doctor yesterday. Blood work, urine sample, h-pylori test for measuring acid in the stomach, and the best one of all I got to bring home...poop sample kit!
I finally got some sleep last night, too! Still not feeling great! Very tired still. Still have a headache. I'm sure it is from no caffeine or sugar and very little food for 3 days.
Please continue the prayers for me as it's much appreciated!
You got them! I hope that you are feeling better today and that the tests will help you figure out what your body needs to get completely well again.
LOL... yes.. You remembered right. A few years ago the hot air balloon landed in the backyard of my neighbor across the street from me ! About 14 years ago - when we lived in our old house (different neighborhood) - we had a hot air balloon landed on our garage roof.

Yes, I did enjoy my PJ day. Read some and relaxed. Only did 1 load of laundry.
Yikes!! Those photos are pretty wild!
I am so sorry to hear of so many losses in your family. :hug2:

Then home for dinner and out for the evening for the last outdoor social night of the year with friends. The temps are dropping quickly at night so should be in the low 40's. Will need to bundle up. Hope the firepit keeps us warm.
Sounds like a wonderful day and night! Good luck and happy selling vibes today at the market. I love the idea of the box for the glow-in-the dark bracelets!
Nope, scratch all of that, my reading comprehension sucks this morning! hehe!
-- Save the good selling vibes for next week and have a wonderful time birding today!

It was almost not worth it and I am contemplating cancelling the massage Tuesday.
Oh no, that sounds awful! That much bruising can't be good, even if you are susceptible to it. Are you in any less pain/soreness today?
Yes. My wallet cant handle my hearts desires and ooooohhhhhh but its on sale so I'm saving money and ooooohhhhh look! That one says buy me and ooooo so does that one! :giggle4: I love/hate the sales. So many amazing products but even on sale they add up to more than I'm able at once. So much temptation to not adult and just buy buy buy!
LMBO at this!

Today is the CEF (child evangelism fellowship) pie auction. They raise money to travel across the state and teach kids how to share the message of Christ with others. They host after school programs for kids, teens teaching kids about the love of Jesus. Its awesome. Tonight is their big fundraiser and they auction pies. But first you must feed the people. So the lady who usually does the dinner (soups) is gone. She's also my Wednesday helper so she asked me to take her place. Big shoes to fill LOL. So today I will be cooking with my other Wednesday helper and making soup for 300 (150 x2 bowls of soup) and then we have to stick around to serve and clean up. Another long day and it leaves me nervous as I've never done this event before and its not "self serve" like our Wednesday dinners are.
That sounds like this is the last thing your body needed. Please tell me you have nothing physical planned this weekend. Call in sick to someone/anyone if you have to. I can pretend to be a doctor if you need a note. :sickinbed:

Be careful out there, Miss Chris! You are probably smart to rest the wrist today!

I actually am feeling better today. No nagging headache yet. Still tired but not quite as bad.
I am supposed to drink at least 72 oz. of water each day. I surpassed that by a little bit. 101.4.
Today I want to do some laundry and study for the widows devotion. I thought about splurging on coffee this morning but don't want to break my momentum. But Mark fixed some to take to the woods with him and it sure smells good!

Good morning,
Happy weekend!
I'm feeling better today, thank You, Lord!
I want to do some Bible study for my devotion for the widows since my headache has eased up finally. I couldn't concentrate while it was so bad the last several days. And I'll do some laundry too. That's probably about all I'll be able to handle.
My girls wanted to give me a girl's weekend to celebrate my 70th birthday coming up next week but I had to cancel with feeling so bad this week. My daughter who lives near me was going to pick me up around 2 yesterday and we were going to meet my oldest daughter and spend the night in a hotel and swim, shop, and eat. Makes me nauseous just thinking about food right now. But I was able to eat more yesterday than I had been. I told them I appreciate their wanting to spend the time and money on me, but I just couldn't find the energy to do it. And I told them not to worry about a reschedule. They are busy with raising their families and I know they were sacrificing family time to be with me, which I love them for.
Ok, gotta get the laundry and Bible study started.

Well, it is a beautiful day. Unfortunately the winds at 800' and above were too strong for the hot air balloons to launch this morning.
<<< sigh >>> Yes, I was up and dressed by 7AM and had camera ready when I checked the TV broadcast and no launch. :sad2: Still have 9 more days of the festival so hope that I can get some photos.

@vickyday Sorry you weren't up to celebrating your birthday with your daughters. Been there, done that, too. You are wise to call it off when you are feeling bad. Glad to hear you are feeling some what better now.

Been looking at some of the new kits/bundles.. and thinking that it might be time to change my siggy to a fall themed one. :yesss:

Chris @faerywings sounds like we need to put you in some of Vicky's bubble wrap! Sure hope the wrist isn't broken and gets better fast.

I had a 10 am genealogy meeting, attending on Zoom, so up earlier than usual today.
It's sunny and warm here today. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

You are right, Jean! I may need some of that bubble wrap later this month when we head to my son's house in Alabama where my falls seem to always happen!

Good Morning Everyone! Its a balmy 44° and the sun is just starting to lighten the sky. Its not raining so it might be beautiful today.

I hope everyone is feeling well-rested and ready for the weekend
I'm so confused. Can you please explain what this means? :giggle4: :floorlaugh: :giggle4:
And then.... and then. It was all fun and games until Miss Chris tripped and fell on her wrist :giggle4:
Oh Chris!!! I hope you are right and nothing broke. My niece broke her leg and she said the only reason she knew was she heard it snap. Praying you take it easy and rest the wrist and its not broke.
That sounds like this is the last thing your body needed. Please tell me you have nothing physical planned this weekend. Call in sick to someone/anyone if you have to. I can pretend to be a doctor if you need a note
Yes, please write me a note. Save me from myself. Need permission to chill. Actually that is the plan. I plan on letting the kid take his dog to the groomer and I will hand him the money and say here ya go. I'm out. I actually dont feel nearly as bad as expected. Had I not had some of my surgeries I wouldn't have made it. Was 10 hours yesterday but it all turned out great and there were a lot of people and they raised a good amount of money.
I'm feeling better today, thank You, Lord!
I'm glad youre feeling better but sad you had to cancel your time with daughters. Hopefully they ignore you and reschedule. I bet they were looking forward to the time off from responsibility as much as you were. :heartpumppink:

oh man, there is nothing like being up and ready and then nope, too windy. Glad there are more days and hopefully you get some amazing photos. You usually do get awesome photos just hope the balloons aren't in your drive again.

Well, not much happening. Just gonna chill and bond with the couch and drool over all the sale items I cant afford. Adulting stinks! But that's okay, I will survive. :giggle4: I'm gonna tell the family that giftcards to the O are great stocking stuffers this year!!!
Have a wonderful weekend!

After your week, I think you need to just chill and bond with the couch.....and drool! ;)

Good evening ladies! Surprise visit from me. So much to catch up on here. I miss you ladies.

The big news from me is that I am retiring and my last day is Thursday. So I feel like I will have time to stop in and chat again.

We are living in Iowa and we finally have the Florida house sold. It closes in 3 weeks. So I feel that I will have lots of free time. Although, probably won’t turn out that way.

Sorry to hear about the wrist Chris. I sure hope it is feeling better. I’ve done some falling in the last year so I know that challenge.

Hope the winds die down tomorrow Kay. And Vicky, it doesn’t sound like you are doing too well. Hope that changes soon.

I'm back from my trip to CT, Germany and Austria....so tired and sick-yuck. Had a great time with family in CT then off to Europe. After our long flight to Frankfort we took train to Wurtzburg. We dropped our luggage at hotel then walked around town. Grabbed a bite to eat on a riverboat turned restaruant then to hotel. We were all exhausted. The next day toured a few hours then off to Munich that was home base. There was a total of 9 but sometime we went seperate ways. The couple that planned the trip are young so each day was jam packed with things to do. Up at 6 and seeing the sights, eating then more sights till a 8 o'clock dinner..they go for 4.6 to 4.8 for the rating so we had super food. I have to say the best coffee I had was at McDonalds where we stopped on our autobahn ride to Salzburg!! 5th day I started sneezing and coughing...Ugh I have not been sick since moving to Florida but I get sick on this trip!!!! When we were in Austria our medic friend took me to Apotheken to get some meds...it did help but I am still sick. I start pre-op appointments tomorrow so will talk to Dr maybe I can get an RX to push me along. I was sick so didnt go to Oktoberfest, I'm ok with that though the kids had fun and I wasn't really interested in that part of the trip anyway. FYI they were not there during the bomb and all the other trouble. We took trains, busses, trams and walked---did I say walked 4-7 miles a day....yup I was so happy that the meds Dr gave me worked so well because my hip was good so I was able to walk all day. The group was always ahead of me and my daughter ( we were there to sightsee) but we always met up. I took lots of pic's so lots of material for scrapping. I got to see Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau again so I was happy about it even in the rain it was beautiful. We took bus up but walked back down...I recognised some spots from walking up 50 years ago with hubby.
The weather less than idea, cool or cold, overcast most days but pics seem ok. Bavaria is very beautiful and I was very happy to see it again. Now I have wonderful memories with family and friends.
Hubby picked me up at airport I was happy to see him. When I was gone he had the last 3 hurricane windows put in the house..now to wash the installers finger prints off them LOL. Jay picked up the tile for our kitchen redo which will start in 2026. He also had new tires put on my van 36,000 miles..he took it to Sam's club they had the best price for Goodyears...wouldn't you know it they lost a lug nut so now we have to go to dealer to get a set and they will reimburse us and install.

I am behind in everyone chatter now as I never had time to look at it. I will go back to see what has happened.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend

Good morning, my lovelies!

I am feeling a little ragged around the edges ATM, I'm hoping its only that I need time to wake up. I've been up for an hour and a half, got in my 2 mugs (= to 4 cups) of coffee, and now I'm just waiting for the brain to click on.
:waiting 2:

:coffee1:

:waiting:

Still nuthin'

Good news(ish) about my wrist. It must have been a strain or sprain. It is still stiff, painful, and slightly swollen, but it is much better today. (Please, don't mess it up today, Faery :praying2: )
I think I am 90% ready for the Badge program today. I want to get in a little early to try using the DBH tape before I flail in front of the group. Other than that, I think I should be fine. The program is "Think Like a Citizen Scientist," and we'll be doing observation and data collection of trees, birds, and the stream. The poor dry stream. *fingers crossed there is enough water at the upper stream to at least find a few things*
Caitlyn made me laugh yesterday. We were cooking dinner together, and I mentioned that this is the first time I led this program and it was with 13-14 ninth and tenth-grade girls. She asked if I had help and yes, I do-- a high school intern. She cracked back-- "well, good, she can speak their language." :floorlaugh:
So dang true....
As soon as I figure out one of the teen-speak phrases, that gets dropped and out comes a new one.

hhmmmph....
Coffee is still not kicking in.
:crying1:

HAGD!!!

When is your next widows' devotion meeting? I hope the headaches stay far away while you are preparing for it.
Oh no, that is awful that you weren't up to going away for the girls' weekend with your DDs. It sounded like a wonderful and thoughtful time. Maybe they will be able to find another weekend that works for everyone before the holidays start.

Ohhhhh.. Chris.. Take care and rest up that wrist. Fingers crossed it's not broken. :beatingheart: :hug4:
Thank you! 100% not broken, I can move all of my fingers today where yesterday I couldn't. Whew!
Did you happen to see my LO for the big photo challenge? The waves in Spring Lake last week were huge!
Well, it is a beautiful day. Unfortunately the winds at 800' and above were too strong for the hot air balloons to launch this morning.
Do you think they will launch today? I hope they do and you get some amazing photos!
Love the new siggie!
I have been looking at mine for the last few months, wanting to make it summery. I guess that door is closed. ;)

I have no idea, I am just parroting what other people tell me. HAH!!!
Same here when I broke my foot, I knew it was broken cuz I heard it.
Was 10 hours yesterday but it all turned out great and there were a lot of people and they raised a good amount of money.
That is fantastic! Makes the pain and exhaustion (somewhat *G* ) worthwhile!

Congrats on the retirement! What in he world will you do with your free time (besides chat with us)? How are the kids? Are they in Iowa or still at school in FL?

@BoatLady What a trip! Sounds like you did a little bit of everything and a whole lotta eating! That stinks that you got sick. It sounds like you got in a ton of sightseeing and I am really happy that your hip did ok with all of that walking.
I am looking forward to seeing the photos when you scrap them.

Hugs!

Glad you are back safely, Debby and your trip sounds lovely. So sorry you are sick, take care and hope you feel better soon. :beatingheart:@BoatLady

Chris ,so happy to hear your wrist is not broken! Whew.. :beatingheart: @faerywings

Oh @faerywings I am so glad to hear that your wrist is not broken.

What will I do now to fill my time without a job? Good question.

I’m in Minneapolis this morning. Syd has been interning at Land of Lakes since the first of May. She is sleeping in but none of that for me. (It’s a 4 hour drive but all interstate so easy drive.) She works up here until mid-December. Then she comes back to Iowa for Christmas. I will drive back with her to Florida for her last semester. And now I will have all the free time necessary without trying to squeeze it into the weekends.

Shaun graduated in May and then transferred with Walmart to a store in Iowa. He is living at home and saving his money. And you know that I love having him here.

And, I now have 1 great-niece and 5 great-nephews under the age of 5. The day that I retired, my niece asked if I would be available to chaperone a school field trip to the pumpkin patch! You know that answer was yes.

And I’m putting in a new flower bed. Some peony bushes and some crocus and spring bulbs at the front.

I may need to start scrapping to document all of these activities. It feels so good to be back here! (Hugs) to all.

@BoatLady your trip sounds amazing! I really need to go take a look at your gallery now to see where you have traveled in the past. Travel is one of my favorite things in the world! I hope retirement gives me more time to do that—-although definitely less money. Need to figure that out!

Glad to hear that you are feeling better! And :highfive: for getting - and going over- your water intake goal!

I told my girls not to worry about a rescheduling for the missed weekend.

Good Morning Ladies!

The big news from me is that I am retiring and my last day is Thursday. So I feel like I will have time to stop in and chat again.
Congratulations Linda on the upcoming retirement!!! Will be fun once you settle into the new groove.
I'm back from my trip to CT, Germany and Austria
Welcome home Debby!!! Sounds like you had a wonderful time and your hip did well. Sorry that you got sick though. That is never fun. I hope it goes away quickly and your pre-op goes smoothly. Cant wait to see all the photos you took.
my 2 mugs (= to 4 cups) of coffee
HEHE This is me. My coffee mug is huge and it always feels good to say I only had two cups. So what if its half the pot of coffee. Our pot makes 14 cups. I only drink about 8 of them LOL But the mug tells me lies I like, its only two mugfuls so its not that bad.

Not a lot happening today just a family dinner since we're all in town. Mostly sitting on my couch and recovering from the crazy week (since I didn't yesterday) and gearing up for another crazy week. Why why why do I schedule everything back to back? Oh yeah, get it out of the way.

Off and running, dogs want breakfast. Have a wonderful day.

Morning, all. Well, the hot air balloons were up and flying today. BUT... they stayed on the east side of the river so none close enough to me to take photos. :( Maybe tomorrow will be better and they come over my neighborhood.

@faerywings - glad you don't think your wrist is broken. Good luck with leading the walk with the teens. Yeah... glad your assistant is a teen so she can interoperate for you... :floorlaugh:

@LSlycord So glad to see you back posting again!!! And congrats on your retirement... and the sale of the Florida house.

@AK_Tracy 2 mugs??? I only manage 1 mug (but it almost 2 cups) each morning. It is so good to be back to having my coffee again.

@vickyday You are so wise to stay away from Pickleball!!!

Been busy working on a couple of new release LOs this morning. Yes... it is great to back to a more normal routine again.
Glad you all like the new fall siggy... It should be good until December.

I finally had enough dirty dishes to run the dishwasher .... and no leaks!!! :yesss: Will be moving all the under-the-sink bins and cleaners back either today or tomorrow.... whenever the back is up to all the bending and lifting.

I slept in this morning (8 AM) because I ended up reading until midnight last night!!! Finished re-reading the series so now need to find something else to read. I can't seem to watch movies/shows on TV right now.

Time to close the house up and get a few chores done. HAGD

Aww, too bad you got sick on your trip but glad you are back. Looking forward to seeing your pictures. Hope your doctor visit will get you well soon your hip surgery doesn't have to be postponed.

And it's so good to have you back!

Good afternoon,
Back from church and errands to take people home and pick up meds from CVS and lunch salads from Wendy's. We took lunch back to Dorothy and then stopped for gas before getting home.
This afternoon is for relaxing.
I have no motivation to scrap. Maybe I need to look through the shop and challenges. Maybe that will be some motivation.
Have a great afternoon!
