:coffeedrinker: Oh, how I looooove my coffee in the morning ♥
It is such a nicer and gentler way to start your day than not being allowed to have it. Yesterday, I wasn't able to get rid of the caffeine withdrawal headache at all—even after having coffee and taking Aleve.
I think I am done with fasting and medical tests for now. *knocks wood* I got the Calcium Score right then and there and my risk is calculated at 0. dance4 Obviously, I'll need to talk "officially" with the cardiologist but my arteries are clear and the recommendation is to get rescreened in 3-5 years based on family history.

We got back here a little before lunchtime and then I didn't know what to do with myself. I felt crummy and tired but didn't want to do nothing since that would make me feel crummier and tired-er. I went into the attic to bring down my winter clothes and ran them through the laundry. At least that is one less thing to have hanging over my head. I also finished prepping my AJ challenge for week 4.

The weather is lovely but we are going to need rain and soon. Driving past the reservoir yesterday, I was shocked at how low it is. No rain in the next 10 days either. That makes it great for work but not so great for much else. I am off to the FP this morning and I hope that have some fun stuff to go along with the rice and flour I need. ;) I have to be at work around 4.30 for the Wicked Walk. Did I tell you that I am not a Guide? Thank goodness for that! I am helping at the campfire which is the last stop of the tour. We are having cider and hot chocolate and someone is telling ghost stories. My (non)conundrum is what to wear. I am wearing Caitlyn's fleece bat costume but between the temps (near 70 today) and the fire, I'm going to be sweating my butt off. ;)
I think is going to be a lot of fun though!

Anything fun happening with you this weekend? I hope you have a wonderful day!

@vickyday what a spectacular view, your DS is lucky to enjoy that! Sorry about the traffic, I hope it's easier to get through on your way home.

@taxed4ever I'll take some of that rain off your hands if you like. I hope that you can go to your Tea Reading, I know you always have a fantastic time with that.
So smart of you to not tell FIL where you were going :giggle4: Sorry that he worried but at least it was just the girls enjoying the time together. Are you going back to the restaurant next month too? Sounds very cozy with the heaters and blankets :)

@AK_Tracy I felt bad for the girl whose pumpkin cracked. She is very sensitive to begin with and if I had to choose the last person to have that happen to, it would have been her.

See Chris!! I am NOT crazy!! (maybe I am) Its an amazing experience and its not like getting out of a hot shower into a cold room. Its so different and spectacular to sit in a hot tub outside in the winter. You dont mind the cold because youre so hot.
yeah, I am not buying that LOL! I literally have to psych myself up and countdown 3-2-1 to turn the water off and get out of the shower. Hope you and the fam had an awesome pizza and movie night!

@BrightEyes It seems that you are back to feeling like yourself again! What kits did you use for the challenges?

@JeanneMN you :crazy:
Our hot tub has it's own room. When we use it we open the windows a big patio door and let outdoors in. I've used them outside- too and OMG, you don't know what you 're missing. I love it when it's below 0, sit in 104°. water & so steamy you can hardly see the other person. We have a fan going and have had it sleet inside, the steam on fan blades shoots off as ice crystals.
This sounds AWFUL!
:rotfl:
OTOH, the time with the grandkids sounds incredible- that would boost my mood for days ♥ I love that you are passing on female empowerment to Lauren.

Kay-- thank you for the heads up on the chicken recall. It's hard to keep track of them all.

Hugs!!

Hello everyone! This has been a super busy week with nothing but work, dogs, and dog emergencies. My brother will be here in a few hours to deliver my Grandpas Secretary desk, so I can't stay and play right now. But I wanted to check in, I'm thinking about all of you, and I have greatly missed being here this week. I'll be back later this afternoon.

Good morning,
Clutz Vicky here...I did it again...ended up in the ER after tripping on a tree root yesterday. We went to brunch at Cracker Barrel and then went to the Guntersville Dam and park for pictures and while walking around I stubbed my toe on a tree root and went down. Landed on my left side and stoved my right hand into the ground. I could have sworn my right wrist was broken and possibly some ribs and my left elbow hurt. So off to the ER we went. X-rays were done and thank the Lord no bones are broken. Just strains and sprains and bruises. If I don't quit scaring my son and DIL they are going to stop letting me come to visit, lol.
60330.jpeg

I'm happy to report my camera seems to have survived the fall! My boob is sore from the lens cap being in the left pocket of the plaid shirt I was wearing, being the side I landed on. I've been icing my right wrist off and on. I'm really stiff and sore today as is expected. But I will survive!

Oh Vicky. I'm so glad youre okay and nothing was broken! I did giggle that they took a photo of you on the ground. That would be my family too, take a photo then check on me.

Hi @mimes1 Amy! Missed you this week!!!

Todays the coldest yet, 20* and Friday they say white shall fall. I wont say the word yet as I know you all are still in fall and beautiful temps.

Today is work. Then nothing this evening so yeah! Scrapped a couple personal pages yesterday. I'm about two weeks behind in my layouts but that's okay. Off to get more coffee.

The winds were crazy yesterday all day then the rain started last evening. Forecast is for rain all day. So glad I put the winter heavy comforter on the bed yesterday. It felt so good last night. I plan on staying in today. There was snow last night in several of the mountains and along the continental divide to the west of us. I prefer the rain to snow!!
@BrightEyes It seems that you are back to feeling like yourself again! What kits did you use for the challenges?
Kay-- thank you for the heads up on the chicken recall. It's hard to keep track of them all.
Not quite over it but feeling better. I used CarolW's October Feeling and her Oct Template. And November's Breathe by et designs for the Big Photo Challenge. I called my sister yesterday to alert her about the chicken recall and she had a couple of the frozen meals, too. Glad I was at the store and saw the recall yesterday as I was planning on having one of those frozen meals last night!!!

Heading for the shower and then into some warmer clothes... At least the house stayed warm (70*F) without the heat turned on. HAGD

@vickyday first I am so glad to hear that you are oK, that's scary and while I love photos taken from different perspectives you did take this one a bit far, but I must admit it sounds like something I would do, however I would looking around to see if anyone noticed. I guess they did notice. I guess a sore boob is a small price to pay as long as the lens is ok, & it's not my boob.

@faerywings While I've never thought of you as a 0 I'm happy that your calcium is a 0, but I am glad to hear you are back to normal (hmmm, normal?) in the coffee department.

Wendell and I spent the morning outside. We cut down the clematis on steroids, it was gargantuan. I gave another one a little trim off the top and then we fenced them in so they wouldn't all get pruned to the ground by 4 legged bunnies. I've finally kept the 2 legged bunny and his clippers out of them . We put fences around two evergreens and then fenced in my cousin's area of the garden so the bunnies leave the clematis there alone too. Garden is ready for winter other than taking the net off before it snows or Wendell is done chasing leaves whichever comes first.

Ha! My son and hubby did run to see if I was OK. After I rolled over to my back they wanted to immediately help me up, but I told them I needed to just lay there for a bit. So my son said, OK, I'll take a picture! ;). He sent it out to the family texting group and since it is almost a duplicate of the picture Michael took last year after I fell playing pickle ball with him, my youngest son thought it was a joke. Several comments later he said, I'm still waiting for the LOLOL. My DIL said there is no lolol...its the real deal! :floorlaugh:

Last night while Vicky was in human ER, I was in Animal ER with Reesie. He's ok - but I got home from work and he was cowering, and crying, and trembling, eyes dilated and head down. With visions of what happened to Ike I took Reesie in. Appears that he hurt is elbow, but it's not broken. He's on activity rest, (Not easy for a 107# dog!), pain meds and anti-inflammatory. He's doing pretty well today. Gunner's new suit that came fit's him great, but last night when we were at ER, he chewed through his suit where is wound is while he was waiting for us at home. However, he did not get the best of me - I turned it inside out so now he has a fresh side to chew a hole in. Hopefully he won't.

While I was cleaning my grandpas secretary desk that my brother brought over, I discovered not one but two secret compartments. In it were things like my grandparents wedding invitation, many Mason and Shriner membership cards, some booklets for the Shriners, one dated 1899! Also some pictures of my dad, aunt and grandmother from 1933 that none of us have every seen. Layout to follow! But that was such an unexpected and welcomed find!

@JeanneMN Your garden sounds so nice even as you're winterizing it. I don't exactly understand how anything survives the winter up there. Do the bulbs go in the garage? root cellar? Under the house? Or do you start over every spring?

@BrightEyes @AK_Tracy it seems so early to be talking about snow already! We've had some snow in our mountains already too, which is not good for the hurricane survivors. Many have power now but many still do not. Please keep the communities up there in your thoughts and prayers.

@faerywings can't wait to hear how the costume and the wicked walk goes!

Good evening.

Vicky. Vicky, Vicky @vickyday what are we going to do? I vote for putting you in a bubblewrap suit when you go out into the woods. I'm SO thankful to hear that nothing is broken though. You caught a lucky "break" (no pun intended) on this one.

Amy @mimes1 not more doggy ER! Bless Reesie's heart - again, should we put him in a doggie bubblewrap suit???

Chris @faerywings hurray for the good test results and boo for the caffeine withdrawal headache. Can't these people figure out a way to do these tests and still let us have caffeine????? Don't they know that people need caffeine to just come in for those tests????? I'm kind of glad I quit drinking coffee now - I drink tea on a semi-regular basis, but it doesn't have the caffeine in it that coffee does. Some mornings, I don't even drink it. Now, I DO drink my nighttime tea concoction and it's still working for me.

Guess what????? Adrienne and I went to Wally's today to get a few groceries and I found a navy blue sweater like the one I have in Camel and the other 100 that I've returned to Amazon and Walmart. :lol23: :lol23: Then, just a few minutes ago, I checked into my Walmart online order and they apparently restocked the black sweaters so I could get that delivered! I'm livin' La Vita Loca right now. :dancingbfly::dancing6:NOW, if this black sweater fits like it's supposed to, I can stop because I'll have camel, navy blue and black. Those color go with everything I wear.

We also went to Sharpe's a local department store and I found the most awesome, cozy, blanket that I can't wait to curl up in and lay on the couch and watch TV. I have several "afgan" sized throws, but this one if more of a "blanket size". It's SO cozy and "western looking". SO, it was a good shopping day.

That's about all the big news from me today. I am going to stop here shortly and fix myself some dinner. I decided to "fry" Icelandic Cod in my air fryer. Tracy @AK_Tracy don't judge me. :lol23::lol23:Anyhoo, I'm going to have fish tacos.

Hugs and love to all and XOXO

@vickyday so glad your fall had no breaks but the bruises and sprains will take some time to heal. cheryl's idea of bubble wrap might be a good one. Ouch you will probably feel worse for a few days then improvement. Heal Quickly.!! I'm so afraid to fall I have enough replacement parts and do not want more unless I have to.

@mimes1 so glad your dogs are ok and will get better. I had to use the "cone of shame" on Pirate after he had cysts removed...LOL of course he hated it and wouldn't move when wearing it. When we went to the boat that weekend. I put him on the floor so he just sat there, later I put him on the sofa with me he didn't move when we went to bed I put him on the bed...again would not move....pitiful. I took it off so he would eat, drink and when we went to shore. Poor dogs.
Your finds in the secret compartments of the desk sound so amazing . So wonderful to find treasures like that.

@faerywings yup morning coffee is a necessity. Rain I wish I could have given you some that we had during the hurricane 10" but believe it or not I had to water some plants yesterday they were wilting. The pond is back to normal level already.

@AK_Tracy @BrightEyes SNOW- it's a swear word. I thinks snow is so pretty in pics. When we were young in CT I loved it we would play out in it for hours but as I got older and older it became work. shoveling the walkways and snowblowing we such a chore. There was always the fear of a fall so I can honestly say. I love winters in Florida!

@Cherylndesigns I like the airfryer idea for fish...I will try that. I love fish tacos but never made them myself I always have them when we go out.

@JeanneMN Your hot tub situation sounds fabulous!. Up North my daughter had a big gorgeous hot tub and my best girlfriend has one too so I always had access to one so we didn't bother to get one. Down here in Florida it is too hot to have one although our neighbor has one. Enjoy the winter in yours.

Well our friends with the hurricane surge are making progress. the oldest one has her new sheetrock so is into part 2 of the rebuild., Other friends are tearing out, almost done. Our friends that we helped the most had part of the tear out done yesterday so are on the right track now. I made a nice roast the other night and had them over so they loved a homecooked meal with a few glasses of wine.

Yesterday I finished raking up the seed pods that the hurricane knocked from the magnolia tree..it filled a garbage can. Now my shoulders really hurt. my replacement one aches but the other is so painful I had a hard time sleeping...I want to avoid the knife as long as I can so resting it for the next few days. I am repoting many of my plants as they just grow like crazy here in Florida.

I got 3 monarch caterpillars yesterday so set up one habitat so I will walk over to get some giant milkweed leaves from my friend, they love them.
I'm still working on the summer trip photos so I have been making one a day but today I might get two done since I am not doing any yard work. I also need to get to Sam's club for some food for the week as I have not really filled the freezer since we have been back from our summer trip.

I'm hoping to get hubby out to one of the parks for a walk today, it's such beautiful weather here now.

Well that is it. Happy Sunday everyone

OK, OK, OK-- I read through this thread before I even started to type and OMG, VICKYDAY!! Whatcha doin' girl?????
I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or what! I like Cheryl's idea of bubble wrap. *G*

My other thought was this: 5 years from now, Vicky is going to scrap a multi-photo page of that same photo scenario-- 2023, 2024, 2025, 2026. The final photo is going to be your DS trying not to strangle you as they drive you to the ER :floorlaugh:
The second I saw your photo of you on the ground I had immediate flashbacks to last year. I am positive your son did too! I'm glad you got off "easy" this time around with only bumps and bruises. LOL!!!

The Wicked Walk was awesome! You could hear the people screaming in the woods where I was stationed at the fire circle. I got to do a quick walk-through of the cabins before I had to set up the refreshments and some of the cabins-- even without the scare actors- were super creepy! I ended up reading some of the ghost stories at the fire. I was with two HS girls who had volunteered to read them but they were more comfortable handing out the cider/cocoa/s'mores. b/c I didn't know I was doing that, I only had a few scripts they had been given. If you ask ChatGPT to write campfire ghost stories-- don't waste your time. They were not spooky at all, even with my very dramatic ( :giggle4: ) reading of them. By the end of the night, I was asking the groups if they wanted to hear any not-so-scary stories. ;) I was only scheduled for the first 2 hours of the night but I was having fun and I didn't want to leave the girls on their own. So I stayed until it was over. (BTW-- waaaaayyyyy past my bedtime! I was very close to turning back into a pumpkin. haha!)
My ILs had stopped by before I left, and MIL got a pic of me in the costume. If she sends it to me, I'll share it with you :)

Today is going to be a quiet day. I am working from home on the HS curriculum for the next session. And the food shopping order. blergh. That's never fun.

Wishing all of you a fantastic Sunday!

I was going to send a picture to Nikon with the imprint of their name on my boob, but, alas, there's no imprint :floorlaugh:

@mimes1 Big big hugs to you and Reesie. That must have been terrifying when you saw him like that. Poor baby boy and poor you. My stomach dropped when I read that.
Did I tell you the story of Caitlyn's rat and how she chewed through her stitches after she was spayed? Good times... :/
I hope that Gunner does OK with the second side of his suit. Dogs are the best-est things in the world, but sometimes the most frustrating.
Woah!!!!!! That is sooooo dang cool!!! What a find and I cannot wait to see the LOs you make!!

Todays the coldest yet, 20* and Friday they say white shall fall. I wont say the word yet as I know you all are still in fall and beautiful temps.
Keep that white s*** by you, please! Hope you had a decent day at work!

@BrightEyes I didn't do Carol's template challenge this month, but I am going to check it out. I bet your winter comforter felt so cozy last night.

This had me LMBO!!!!!
Sounds like you and Wendell had a productive day in the yard and gardens. Any games this weekend with the grand?

should we put him in a doggie bubblewrap suit???
*insert Oprah gif*
You get bubble wrap, youuu get bubble wrap!
Congrats on the sweater score! and the blanket too. The only nice thing about the colder weather is the cozy-factor of blankets and sweaters :D

had to use the "cone of shame" on Pirate after he had cysts removed...LOL of course he hated it and wouldn't move when wearing it. When we went to the boat that weekend. I put him on the floor so he just sat there, later I put him on the sofa with me he didn't move when we went to bed I put him on the bed...again would not move....pitiful.
My dogs would do that same thing! It was like they became statues. We got a Kong "donut" for Jaida when she had surgery and it worked so much better than the cone.
Many years ago, we rescued a feral cat and he flipped out when we had a cone for him. Flipped. Out. We had a cat door that went from the kitchen into the basement and he desperately was slamming his head into it trying to run away. Of course, the cone didn't fit through the cat door! The poor thing was *frantic.* We ended up locking him in our bedroom just for his own safety.
That was so sweet of you to have your friends over for dinner. I cannot imagine what they are going through and dinner/wine must have made such a difference in their spirits.
I am so excited that you have some monarch caterpillars! Please let me know if they change!

Time for this Faery to fly!

I was very close to turning back into a pumpkin. haha!)

@vickyday I didn't want to hit you while you were down, but everything is ok, and no Nikon boob tatoo, which probably would have brought the FBI to your door, I have to do this, I'm glad your family didn't10-Best-Minion-Quotes-For-Friends-6002-3.jpg

OMG, how scary! I'm glad it wasn't worse. I've gotten hooked on the "Incredible Dr. Pol" and have seen how much worse it can be.

This is absolutely the coolest thing ever!!!!!!!!! It could be in a Hallmark movie, but they've done that multiple times already. I can't wait to see your layouts.
@JeanneMN Your garden sounds so nice even as you're winterizing it. I don't exactly understand how anything survives the winter up there. Do the bulbs go in the garage? root cellar? Under the house? Or do you start over every spring?
Sometimes I wonder too! I don't plant any bulb plants, I used to do canna lilies in the pond and pots, but digging up bulbs, Wendell drew the line at that, and buying those plants every year got expensive. While some of the potted pond plants could survive, the only way they could do it would be lowering by hand and that would mean face in water, plus they are heavy, so everything is perennials or geraniums I pot in the spring. The four hanging pots I bought from a school fundraiser are beautiful and not terribly expensive. Plus, bulbs in Mr. Wendell's garage, OMG, that's not going to happen.
I can stop because I'll have camel, navy blue and black. Those color go with everything I wear.
:floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:I'm only laughing because I've never said this, it's probably why people in Minnesota find me odd, but I totallly blend in, in Key West. When they make a snarky comment, I just say, "I'm not asking you to dress that way, your way makes you happy and this way makes me happy. That's what life should be about."
I got 3 monarch caterpillars yesterday so set up one habitat so I will walk over to get some giant milkweed leaves from my friend, they love them.
I'm still working on the summer trip photos so I have been making one a day but today I might get two done since I am not doing any yard work.
That is so exciting and both levels, I'm not done with Key West and 3 months from tomorrow we leave for Key West. How in the heck did THAT happen? Two layouts in one day, I would be in scrap heaven!
If I keep falling I'm going to be needing replacement parts! My right wrist is pretty stiff and sore today!
And replacement parts handle quite well, trust me, guess how I know.
The Wicked Walk was awesome!
Hope I get to see the layouts!

Nothing much is going on here today. Downloaded a kit so I can get my November challenge done. This afternoon we are going to a surprise birthday party for Wendell's aunt's 90th birthday. She's a blast and all the rellies will be there most likely, she's worth it and no one said I had to talk to them, actually it wasn't no one, it was Wendell:lol23::lol23::lol23::lol23::lol23:

Morning, all. Think today will be a PJ day. Going to rest up today as I hope to make the trip to the base tomorrow to pick up my Rx refill and do the commissary shopping. I did make it over to the church yesterday afternoon (after the rain stopped) and voted. Glad to have that done. Had some ripe avocados so made guacamole to go with the enchiladas for supper last night. So yummy!

I saw a lot of photos of the snows in New Mexico on FB this morning. Glad we just had rain here as I am not ready to deal with snow!!! Usually don't get snow here in the valley until mid-November... although in 2000 we had a big snowstorm before Halloween. Who knows when we get it with the crazy weather we have had this year.

@faerywings So glad that the Wicked Walk event went off so well.

@Cherylndesigns Congrats on finding the sweater in the right size and color... and then finding the last one you wanted. I was LOL as I have a long white one, a black one and a red one.... I bought all of them at the same time as I knew I would wear them a lot. They are perfect for the fall weather.

@vickyday I vote for you to be wrapped in bubble wrap!!! You were wise to not get up right away.... falls really do a number on the body...and it takes a bit of time to be able to move. Had to LOL about the lens cap impression on the boob... Yep, I remember the photo of you laying on the ground from last year. Hope this will not a yearly thing, girl!!!

Need more coffee :coffeedrinker:and get some food. BBL

Well, actually, some of my family DID laugh and joke about it. For instance, my sister asked if she could get me a walker for Christmas! And my son-in-law added... with a strap to wrap around my waist for Mark to hold on to.... yeah, they love me! :floorlaugh:
