Happy Columbus Day to those who "celebrate." ;):hat:
We were supposed to have today off from school but since we already used a snow day (post-hurricane day?) the BOE took it away. I try to get my kids to see their drs on no-school days, which of course they hate, but this one got taken away from all of us. What can you do? So we are off in a while and will be gone all day- long and exhausting, (and expensive!) but again, what can ya do? :eek:hwell:

Hope that all of you have a great Monday.

Me Me Monday... any one have something good to do for yourself? I am thinking a nice glass of wine with dinner after my long, exhausting and expensive day. :partywine

Happy Monday lovely ladies!

Back to work for me today with I'm sure a ton of work that will be waiting for me to catch up on....at least the day will seem to go by quickly. I treated myself to buying a hand made haunted house, it's about 2 feet tall and maybe fourteen inches wide. I decorated it with spider web stuff, put a black crow on the roof ( I think I need to look for a little smaller one for the scale to be right). I purchased some halloween battery operated votive lights (the kind you put inside pumpkins) but was a little bit disappointed it didn't light up more.....I just love it! I think I can modify it for the different holidays and keep it out year round.....I just love it...oh yeah I already said that.....LOL

Chris - hoping your day is productive and you don't get too exhausted with your all day doctors' visit.

Lauri - Have a great day at work!

Morning all!

Nice long visit with my grandson yesterday while watching a very very amateur lacrosse game of granddaughter's. While at 12, she is a 5'7 knockout, she does not quite have the killer instinct for this game. It's early days for her with a new sport so I give her an A for trying something new. In girls' lacrosse there is no stick touching so I did miss that clack clack clack sound. btw, the field is next to the CIA hq which was an interesting juxtaposition.

One batch of laundry in, and today is the day I seriously should weed my garden. If not now, it will not get put to bed properly and I'll regret it for the next 365 days!

I'm also wondering if I can make a porkloin roast seem like a 'porchetta'. Some intense googling will have to take place today also.

Have a great day all!

...loves her some "O"
Hi my darling Ofam!!!

Today I'm off to California. We are staying in Walnut Creek, which i'm totally psyched about because it has an H&M there!! LOL!! We don't have that store down in Houston. THey just opened one in Dallas and I made the mistake of telling Cora. She asked me how old she had to be to drive up there with her cousin...*sigh* I said she wasn't allowed to, so she replied with, "okay, 18...that's next summer!!" I'm not worried about getting older myself, but when my little baby says that, I get all weepy!!!!! :)

Okay, I have a couple of loose ends to tie up before we leave in an hour and a half for the airport!!

Happy Columbus day, everyone!!!
love you all!!

always chatty at the O!!
Good morning ladies.

Today we have no school or work. So the fam is sitting on the couch watching a movie about a lion. Nothing really planned today. We've had little stuff going on all weekend though. Friday we went to the Pumpkin Patch with my friend Andrea....which i have been harassing her to find time in her day to come hang out with us. I've seen her post around a bit, so yay!! We had originally planned on going to a corn maze but there was nothing open during the day on Friday. Nothing opened until later in the day. But we found a produce stand that had Hay rides and some fun little kid stuff. It was fun going there with the kids and my dad. I also totally forgot that it was October 7...which is the 4th anniversary of a friend of mine dying in a plane crash. I always try and do something to celebrate life...and I think it is awesome that I did something accidentally. I haven't known the date of any given day since October started. I always would keep track of the days by what was on TV but now that we don't have cable....I'm totally lost. LOL!!

Saturday I took my dad to the airport and went to Trader Joe's. I so wish we could get Costco and Trader Joe's here in fayetteville...but not so lucky. We do have good fast food restaurants these days like Chipotle and Panera and most of the other larget chain restaurants...just not the grocery stores. I have the grocery stores here...what I wouldn't give for a Safeway to be built here. *sigh*

So we have nothing planned for today. I have some Cheery-O work for a project coming up. Keeps your eyes and ears open for some fun happenings around here.

Chris - I hope your day is productive. Your BOE is such a pain with your days off. You would think they would schedule school to go a little longer so that there were less makeup days. You guys always miss a few days anyway. Craziness.

Laurie - Yay for new floors. I hope they look awesome. I hope you get to enjoy at least a little of that beautiful day.

Frani - that house sounds too cute. I wish I could buy stuff like that...but my house is always a mess so things like that get overwhelmed by mess. Crazy kids (husband included in that statement).

Linda - Have fun with your girls. That is so great that the cousins are getting so much time together and good for you for making it work. When my neighbor got her 4 grandkids she had to ask that the other two grandkids not be over as much...like for babysitting type hours. They could come over but she couldn't be the main source of childcare...because 6 was just too many. The two girls started getting really mean after that. It was sad to watch. That's awesome you can make it work. Hugs to you for all that you do.

Phyllis - I am so thankful I have the ability to sleep. Unless I get woken up after 8 I can almost always fall back to sleep within a few minutes...if I even wake up at all.

Maureen - I have never seen a game of lacrosse. It sounds like a lot of fun. I love watching kids play sports whether good or bad. I remember my son's first t-ball game. He hit the ball off the T and went and went to grab the ball to throw it instead of running to first. Not that silliness at 12...but still fun.

OHHHHHH!!! I can't believe I almost forgot to say this. My daughter's birthday is in November and she'll be turning 5. Because of the timing of her birthday I decided to just get her a bike...just because while my dad was here. It was very random...but I thought it would be fun for my dad to help with the bike choosing process and the learning process. We have a field behind our house so she started learning there and did awesome. She got up on her first try and does pretty good as long as she keeps pedaling but she likes to try and coast and then falls down. It is awesome though. I was super proud of my girl.

Phylis, we don't have a phone that rings in any way in the bedroom. The phone we have has the ringer turned off. If a call comes during the night, it's nothing I need to know til I wake up. Just sayin'. We both charge our phones in other rooms also. Of course...ymmv.
