I was ready to go before the party started. My ILs called to say they were very early-- an hour early- and I was just finishing up the last-minute stuff when they arrived. I just *love* my family. Even when everyone drives me up the wall (it either doesn't take much or they are the ones off the rails, not me :floorlaugh: ) I know how blessed I am. And now with Sam's family blending right in, it is even better. I had a blast playing with Logan (2 yo) and got to hold Sophia who is now 5 months. They are Sam's older sister Sara's kids and will probably be the closest thing I get to a grandkid experience. I loved getting a small baby fix in yesterday and Logan is freaking adorable. ♥
You were all correct in telling me that everyone was going to love the ATC/candy gifts. I had put them all in a basket and told them they had to"fish" for their bag LOL I never know the "right thing" for Sue (Sam's mom), especially with a Mother's Day card but for her ATC I used a photo of her kids, including Daniel. (Daniel was killed in a car accident in 2021) and I didn't want the photo to be too "in your face" but I couldn't not include him either. She needed a minute to get herself together but came over to tell me how much it meant to her. I just feel like I am doing the wrong thing - but there isn't a right way, it's going to hurt no matter what, so I go with what is in my heart. Sue is awesome and it kills me that I could inadvertently hurt her even more, but there isn't anything I could do that would do that. It's already been done :brokenheart:

Anyway- enough of my too-early-in-the-morning ramblings.
I was happy to get some ideas and planning for the shower too! I knew it was the only time I would have my SIL, BFF, and Sam in the same room so Tom kept Caitlyn busy and I scribbled notes and I think it's going to be fine. If I start saying that over and over, it will be true. That *is* how that works, right???
:D

I was able to get the majority of stuff cleaned up last night but still a couple of hours of work this morning. It's supposed to be hot all week (YAY!!!!) so if need to get over to TJ Maxx and find some capris or lightweight leggings for work. Then if I have time, I want to clean the garden area so I can get some plants on my way home from work.

Hope that everyone has a fantastic day!
(I almost typed "frantic day" -- that might be what *my* days are like but I wouldn't; wish that on anyone else. :what!: )

@bitzee Thank you for the big hug!! I do what I do here in the Daily Ooos because 1. I love the O and the people here and 2. it helps me a lot as well. In some ways is like journaling/therapy and it's helpful to know that other people understand what I am going through.
When we were all very sick (all 4 of us had Lyme diagnosed in 2007-2008), I rarely left the house to do anything social for years. We went to Drs appts, I fought with the school district, and I cleaned houses for some extra cash. This place, the Daily Ooos, kept me sane. I lost a lot of friends in those years but this place was always here. :cloud9:

@vickyday aren't those lyrics awesome? I feel like I scrapped a page using them once but can't be 100% sure.
And no more breaking things!
Hope that the rain stops and you get some cool, fresh air. I know- that's doubtful this time of year, but I can hope for ya!
How did the day go with the rest of yoru ATCs?

@AK_Tracy Raisins--- YUCK! Way back when (you know this damaged me because I remember this like it was yesterday), a student brought brownies to school for her b-day. I took a bite, thinking there were chocolate chips in them. But noooo- it was raisins and I did everything in my power not to gag. I do love nuts though and almost all of the Christmas cookies I bake have nuts in them.
Are you calling *me* cray-cray? Haruumph!
;)
So sorry to hear what happened to your dad.

The whole reason I first heard of Bon Jovi was at my cousin's house. My uncle's (hairdresser) best friend (hairdresser) knew JBJ's dad (hairdresser LOL). In the doc, they talk about how he was sending out copies of Runaway to family/friends/etc. Looking back, I wonder if my uncle had a copy because I know that I had liked that song before most people ever heard of it.
The doc is on Hulu.
FWIW- my BFF hated it. She watched 2 episodes and thought it pretentious. She joked that it could be bias since she was always Team Richie and I was Team Jon. :rotfl:

@FloridaGranny I was super excited when I heard that they renamed one of the rest stops after him on the GSP! My mom and I were driving down the shore one year and she asked if I wanted to stop to "visit." LOL! TFS that pic!!

@BrightEyes those are some awesome crafting items you have to donate. So happy that you are resting/working and resting again. How is the back?
Your eggplant-zucchini casserole reminded me that I haven't made the ratatouille pasta in a while and everyone liked that. I wonder if I could make that in the Instant Pot? It is going to be too hot to put the oven in for hours to roast everything soon. Has anyone ever tried that?

Vicky- just scrolled to your post-- congrats on finishing the ATCs!!

@Cherylndesigns ouuuuucccccchhh.... I am stiff and sore from readying about your climbing in and out of Ava's truck. Scott's truck has running boards and I still struggle. Short People Problems (SPPs). And then we have CGP (Curly Girl Problems). :lol23:

@MariJ No way! I bet you wish your friend still had that house in Belmar. My mom's family had a house on D Street in Belmar and I wish it was still in the family. My dad's uncle had a house in Lake Como and that's also long gone. My mom and I usually make a trek to Spring Lake in September for a couple of nights, sit on the beach and read. It's heaven, isn't it?

@JeanneMN I would love to see pics of the yard/pond/gardens if you have any to share. Everything sounds lovely! I love clematis, wish my yard got enough sun for them.
(Scott used to work for a garden center in town and loves to tell the story of when two elderly ladies came in asking for the "chlamydia" when they actually meant clematis Bwuhahah!)

On that note, I should go :eek3:

@faerywings Yes! It IS heaven at our shore... I'm lucky in that two cousins still live in Highlands, one has the house we lived in as kids. Both houses were destroyed in Sandy. One was fixed and raised, the other was eventually flattened and a pre-fab installed. I'm always welcome there and sometimes stay a week or two.
And, YES! My friends actually do still have the house in Belmar. It was my friend's Grandparents' house, the 5th generation of family is still living in and enjoying it today. I'm with this friend every day helping with her baby granddaughter and elderly Mom. So I still do have access to it, I just haven't been there to stay in awhile... It's on 17th Avenue about a half block from the ocean.

And, I do understand your thoughts about what the daily "O's" means to you. It's one reason ScrapGirls closing was such a hard hit for me as the site, scrapping and my SG friends got me through many hard times and isolations -- illness, caregiving, Covid, etc. Being here with all you warm, caring scrappers has been a big help in that loss.

Lastly, I think that going by your heart is best and a good thing to do. We can never be sure, but in my experience even if your heart inadvertently hurts someone, it's coming from goodness and is usually understood that way, even if causes some pain which sometimes isn't bad... I had a young goddaughter killed in a car accident years ago. Her parents always said they had "two daughters". And while it hurt, it also was a comfort not to forget her. I'm sure it was that way for Sue. Mother's Day is hard enough when you've lost a child, but most times it's a comfort when he is remembered by others.

And, now after all that, I have to run. Hope everyone has a nice day.

Good morning everyone - quick check in this morning!
Yesterday Belle and I spent all day at the race track with Erinn. She was driving! She’s new in the sport and SIL has the cars. While he’s away he wanted her to take some driving lessons, so she did! Erinn did great, she even took me on a lap. She’s a natural loading the car in the trailer - it’s just a big horse that doesn’t jump around and she’s been trailering horses for years. I was very proud of her and it’s the most she’s smiled since Paul left.

@Cherylndesigns I laughed out loud about your heaving into the truck with no running boards because I’m living that every day here!! I even read your description to Erinn and she laughed too - not because we’re laughing at you but because we SO relate!! I learned the other day after nearly tearing my rotator cuff getting in to grab that bar with both hands and haul in that way. It’s still clumsy and hilarious to onlookers, but at least it doesn’t destroy my already sore shoulder. And getting out? Hah.Last night getting out kind of pulled the small of my back and it took a minute to stand up - i have to laugh at myself in the process but boy oh boy did that hurt!! SPP here for sure!! :giggle4:

@faerywings your story about the ladies looking for clamidia totally cracked me up! How funny is that. I’ll never look at clematis the same again - one of those ”once you see it you cant unsee it” moments! :floorlaugh:

For all those talking about JBJ - he was on American Idol last night. Fun to see the young kids singing his songs. I’ll have to go find the documentary and educate my kids because they said “Who?” I guess I haven’t been doing my job. Haha.
Also the lyrics yesterday on aging sounds like a challenge in the waiting….

@MariJ it’s nice to see you here.

@faerywings Good job on your party!! So glad your bags were a big hit. You did good on Sue’s bag. The thoughtful heartfelt decisions will always be the best.

@vickyday you got ALOT done so early in the morning!! Good Job!

@JeanneMN Your garden sounds so nice. Can’t wait to see pictures or a layout of everything when youre’ done.
@taxed4ever - I just figured out you’re on Vancouver Island. We honeymooned up there when we got married 30 years ago and Mark has family in North Van. We stayed at a little Bed and Breakfast called the “Blue Willow” for many nights. It was so beautiful. I can’t remember the exact town it was in but it was right on the east side of the island. Vancouver Island is also where I saw my first Bald Eagle ever, and also the first wild bear I ever saw. It’s so beautiful up there. Now I understand better where you get to go kayaking! So pretty.

It’s so unseasonably cold here - can’t believe it’s almost June.
Hope you all have a good day - I’ll check back in later!!

PS: @AK_Tracy Add me to the no nuts and no fruit in baked goods - especially raisins. Nothing ruins a good loaf of bread or a muffin faster than a gross raisin.

@faerywings You are welcome. I am sorry you had to go through that. It is nice to have that group of people you can always count on to be there for you when life gets rough. I am glad you had your O family during those times. It certainly helps you to not feel isolated. Those “friends” you lost when you needed them weren’t really friends. This feels like Scrap Girls more than any site I have been to  Gotta run--I have a big day ahead. Have a great day!

Good morning ladies. I'm home today except for a visit to the dog park with Remi later. I will pop a lasagne and rolls into the oven for dinner tonight. It's nice to have a quiet day, mostly at home. I will work on some CT stuff and get some house chores done. I ordered a new bird book that should be small enough to put into my backpack when I go out birding. It'll be nice to have a book reference when I am out photographing the birds. I have my phone app but having the bigger pics to look at should help with identification. I had a memorable time out at the lake yesterday. Lots of birds and ducks around. I photographed 2 types of grebes, goose goslings and had baby sandpipers land in front of me to feed in the shallow water I was standing in. I photographed two male coots sparring for dominance. It was a fun morning.

Summer must be coming. There were swarms of midges at the lake yesterday and I got my first mosquito bite of the season, on my neck.

The robin has started laying her eggs in the nest in the backyard. Mama and papa robin have been busy, patrolling the yard and chirping at the dogs or people walking by on the path behind us. Can't wait to see the babies. We have left them alone as much as we can and the other nest has finch babies that we have heard but not seen.

FYI - moving files onto 2 big EHDs is finished, backblaze did a backup pretty quick compared to previously when it was trying to back up all the small drives. Whew, problem over (I think). It's nice to have my photos on one big drive and digi stuff on another.

@faerywings The party sounds like a success but then again, they always are, aren't they? I've never heard you talk of any not turning out. It's so wonderful that Sam's party fits right in with your family. As hard as it is, I'm sure Sam's mom loved the ATC/candy bag after the momentary hurt.

I'm getting another coffee and settling down to do some CT work. HAGD everyone.

I always giggle when I start reading. The time stamp is my timezone and man you all are up early!!!! LOL But then I have to remember most of you are 3-4 hours ahead of me.
I never know the "right thing" for Sue (Sam's mom), especially with a Mother's Day card but for her ATC I used a photo of her kids, including Daniel. (Daniel was killed in a car accident in 2021) and I didn't want the photo to be too "in your face" but I couldn't not include him either. Sue is awesome and it kills me that I could inadvertently hurt her even more, but there isn't anything I could do that would do that. It's already been done :brokenheart:
I love that you used a photo that included her son. It might be hard, and it might cause emotions, but I have found when someone dies, people tend to not talk about them anymore for fear of upsetting someone. That is harder. They lived, they loved, and we miss them. I've only lost a parent, so I cant imagine how hard it is as a child or spouse. I think you did the best most perfect thing ever in remembering her son and including him in the ATC. :heartpumppink:
@AK_Tracy Raisins--- YUCK! Way back when (you know this damaged me because I remember this like it was yesterday), a student brought brownies to school for her b-day. I took a bite, thinking there were chocolate chips in them. Are you calling *me* cray-cray? Haruumph!
Oh barf!! Why oh why in brownies. That sounds horrible and traumatic. No wonder you still remember. I would have spit it out. Texture of a cooked raisin always grosses me out. Cant do it. Dont like them normally but really  in baked goods. As for calling ya cray cray, well if the shoe fits.........:giggle4:
The doc is on Hulu.
FWIW- my BFF hated it. She watched 2 episodes and thought it pretentious. She joked that it could be bias since she was always Team Richie and I was Team Jon. :rotfl:
YEAH thank you. Have totally added it to my watchlist and will be binging JBJ. How can anyone be team Richie? Like hello???? JON rocks!!!!

My 14yo son walked in yesterday and as I was baking and listening to music and says "Is this back in black". We were about 3 bars into the song :giggle4: and I was yeah. He then says AC/DC right? Yeah...... proud mom I've done my job. Then he ruined it and an Eddie Money song came on and he says is this Skid Row? Crushed. Yeah still working on him but my oldest rocks the 80's songs. He knows most of the words.

PS: @AK_Tracy Add me to the no nuts and no fruit in baked goods - especially raisins. Nothing ruins a good loaf of bread or a muffin faster than a gross raisin.
See, I knew there was a reason we got along so well!!!! Nothing absolutely nothing ruins a good baked good faster then a nut or raisin. SO gross. Chocolate shouldn't crunch or squish :floorlaugh::sick::giggle4: Neither should bread and muffins. Just yuck.
This feels like Scrap Girls more than any site I have been to
I agree!!!!! I only had SG a year but oh what a year. SO thankful to have found the O and all the lovely lovely friends. I would have loved having you all during 2020 crazy. But I did lots of zoom. I hate zoom now. We weren't as locked down as some places and we have space we could still get out. But oh connecting to people was hard. Would have been bliss to have this place too but at least I now have found you! Cant get rid of me now :giggle4: Stuck like Gorilla Glue.

@mimes1 you mentioned a lyric challenge above. I think you should totally do it!!! That would be so much fun.

Today is Monday. Yeah I get to do laundry. And vacuum. The dogs have blown their winter coats. Have been for a bit now and oh the dog hair. I could easily knit a blanket with the amount of hair these two babies have dropped. Yesterday they were running around having a blast. I only took 51 photos of them. Just a couple. The sun is shining. I can't wait to be outside. I just need the wind to stay away. Might be time to pull out the lawn furniture. Woot woot!!!

Have a wonderful day Ladies!!!!

I keep stalking the AJ thread. Does anyone know if there will be a week 3? We only have ten days of May left. Not sure how that happened already. Its been two weeks since we did week 2 and I just wondered. All the templates have four places so I assume (yep making an *** of u and me) that we have two more coming.

Morning, gals. Been busy this morning doing a CT layout. I am so far behind on creating challenge LOs this month. I need to look at some of them again and try to get the brain working for a few more before the end of the month.

But... have to load the donations in the car and drop them off today... and the day is half gone already. BBL

I bet it feels amazing to have the donations loaded and ready to drop off. That's the part I have trouble with, loading and dropping. But man I can purge (and regret later). Now, dont forget to rest. We dont want you all in pain and unable to play at all the challenges. :heartpumppink:

My sore muscles have sore muscles today & hurt in spots I didn't know had muscles. I don't even remember what I told you we'd done in the garden so I'll see if I can get pictures to upload today. Everything is ready for Memorial Day other than my topiary critters that need some refreshing. Floating pond plants have shipped so they should be here in a day or 2. I really love the spot we carved out for my cousin. We have shrubs that died this winter just don't have money to replace them. I took some pics from our neighbor's deck. I've had the white clematis for at least 10 years and haven't had that many flowers total. Between my "rabbit" hubs & rabbits it's always been cut down to the ground level and that one is the type that wants to be left alone. We fenced them in this winter so all varieties of rabbits stayed out. We added two more clematis to the "wall" and put 3 more in my cousin's garden. I'm feeling low today, Her Celebration of Life is this Friday and I think it's weighing on me.20240519_133730-Edit-copy.jpg20240519_090729-Edit-copy.jpg20240519_133855-Edit-copy.jpg20240519_133743-Edit-copy.jpg20240519_133906-Edit-copy.jpg20240519_133711-Edit-copy.jpg

Oh @JeanneMN what a beautiful garden. I can imagine its so peaceful and nice to just sit and look. I'm sorry your sore muscles have sore muscles. I wish I could hug you and help ease the grief of your cousin. :hug4::hug2: I am sure it will be hard this Friday. Dont forget to take care of you too. I found at times, I needed to cry but couldn't so I would put on a sad movie and cry. No-one asked questions then, assumed it was the sad movie. Kickboxing helped other times too. Poor punching bag. I'm sure you know all that already. Just know I am sending you hugs from afar.

Thank you sweet twin. I'm actually sitting next to my sweet cousin in the garden & across from my friend Tammy, the other whirleygig. Friday is also the first anniversary of her death. I spent every day the last 2 1/2 months by her bedside so her husband could work. My cousin getting diagnosed in August was a double whammy. I know neither one would want me too. hooing , but I think I need to, sometimes a good ugly cry is what a person needs. Thank you for the hugs.

I always giggle when I start reading. The time stamp is my timezone and man you all are up early!!!! LOL But then I have to remember most of you are 3-4 hours ahead of me.

YEAH thank you. Have totally added it to my watchlist and will be binging JBJ. How can anyone be team Richie? Like hello???? JON rocks!!!!

:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

This shows you posted at 4:19 a.m. and I just laughed like wow she's busy and its not even 5 am yet!!!! You sure did get on the to do list early this morning!! Good job!

See, I knew there was a reason we got along so well!!!! Nothing absolutely nothing ruins a good baked good faster then a nut or raisin. SO gross. Chocolate shouldn't crunch or squish :floorlaugh::sick::giggle4: Neither should bread and muffins. Just yuck.

There will be a lyrics challenge at some point in the future, FYI @mimes1

I'm feeling low today, Her Celebration of Life is this Friday and I think it's weighing on me.View attachment 419412View attachment 419413View attachment 419414View attachment 419415View attachment 419416View attachment 419417

I walked for 2 1/3 miles today before the "fiber optics" hit me. So I rushed back to the car until my stomach settled down a bit. I felt OK in a few minutes and decided to get the few groceries I needed and then rushed back home.....just in time, LOL!
I worked on my ATC for the day.
I hard-boiled 2 dozen eggs in my nifty little machine and made egg salad and deviled eggs.
Mark heated up the leftover roast from yesterday for supper and I had some egg salad.
Now we are watching TV.......Tracker, Rookie (our new obsession) before we do our devotions and then I will play Rummikub with my sister while I drink my sleepy time tea before going to bed!
Have a good evening!
