CHEERY O
Wow, the weekend flew by for me. Did it go by quickly for you too?
It's rainy -- mostly damp and drizzly- again so I'm glad I am stuck in my house. Well, glad might not be the right word but it does feel like a good day to stay hunkered in.

I had a really interesting day yesterday. The work meeting was fun, engaging, and fascinating. It was boring at times, but it was still interesting in a dull way. IFKWIM. The first part of the meeting was brainstorming and long-term plans and goals for the center. There were "stations" with a large sheet of paper with a question on it. We moved around the room in groups (new people in each group each time) and had 5 minutes to brainstorm and write down ideas. Big, small, next-to-impossible- it didn't matter. Then we discussed the ideas and ranked which ones should be priorities for the upcoming year. We broke for lunch, and then they invited me to stay for the Trustees' portion. That was pretty amazing. Going over the open agenda items was the part of the meeting that was interesting in a dull way. haha. None of it was anything I had input on, but I enjoyed learning how things worked on their end. Not to mention, it's a good thing to get to know the Board of Trustees, considering they are the ones in charge of my employment. *wink*
Once I get ideas percolating in my brain, I sometimes have difficulty turning them off and I emailed the director *twice* this morning with suggestions for funding and newsletter outreach. :blushing1:

I got home much later than I expected and spent the next two hours cooking. Dinner was yummy but where I would have taken breaks in between steps,
there wasn't any time. My foot didn't hurt but it was tired.

What are my plans for today?
Cleaning my office (uh-huh, again!)
Finishing my grocery order
Scrapping!

Have fun whatever you do today!

WOW! You are late in here today! Did you sleep long and hard after your day yesterday with Weis? Sounds exactly like you said.....interesting yet boring! Glad your foot didn't hurt after standing for 2 hours!

Warning: Be careful and don't overdo in the midst of the glee of being free! Been there/Done that and you don't want a setback! :beatingheart: :heartpumppink: :beatingheart:
I can tell you speak from experience and I promise to do my best!

@BrightEyes I know for sure that you breathed a little easier once your kids were back home safe. It's awful that the weather added more cruddiness to an already very cruddy situation.
Enjoy scrapping this week, it will be good to keep your mind and creativity flowing. ♥

@tiffany scraps Yoyo dinner sounds better than what I call it here-- "Clean Out the Fridge Night."
Do you get to play pickleball often? I never played and that is probably for the best. (I am a klutz. Obviously LOL)

First rule of retirement is Everyday is Saturday. Second rule, you don't go on vacation, since you're always on vacation you take trips.
That is too funny!
My mil is short & bent like a shepherd's hook, she needed 2 pillows to sit on when she still could drive and she could still barely see over the steering wheel.
My grandmother was like that and one of the reasons I am freaking out about my genetics and osteoporosis. I am itching to get back to doing yoga and hiking again, sitting on my butt is not good for my bones.
Got absolutely nothing done yesterday. Wendell paced around and then would stand looking over my shoulder-
That would have made me bonkers. Very smart to give in and watch tv under those conditions ;)
Okay Pot, listen to Kettle, dont over do it! @faerywings Hope you had fun today getting out and seeing your work friends. I bet it felt good.
I was very well-behaved. :angelwhistle: And how about you, Ms. Kettle?
It felt amazing being on-site and talking to people. I work with the most amazing people, such gooood energy! It's like downing a pot of coffee without the shakes. tee-hee!
Yesterday was gloomy as was my attitude. I dont know that I did much. A couple sit ups, sauna, and then my feet up and not much else happened. Today will be the same other then church first, then sitting with my feet up. Its suppose to snow this week. April is so hard, like a lot of you have had, snow sun snow sun. We have 13 hours of daylight so that really helps.
I'm sorry. I am sending you big hugs to cheer you up if you still need them. I can't send you sunshine or warm weather cuz I don't got 'em. (Rainy and 36* blech!) but hugs? Unlimited supply! :hug4:

I'm kind of "rudderless" today - i.e. no direction - just jumping from one thing to another and not accomplishing a thing. Don't know what's wrong with my brain today. I thought today was Saturday and I think I posted last night that it was Friday. :what!:
There is ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with your brain. (If there was, there would be something terribly wrong with mine. That's me on a good day ;) )
I dunno, is it the time of year, in-between seasons and not quite ready to work outside? Whatever it is, I know that rudderless feeling, and I hope that it passes soon. Is the family getting ready for a baby shower? That will be exciting!
Ava has all my love and good thoughts, to her and to Peanut ♥

Peanut would NOT show his face for the last one. I got to go in with her and they tried everything to get him to show it, but he refused. We're hoping he'll cooperate this time.
Stubborn. Male= stubborn.
Oh, I read a little farther, the shower is in May! Does Drake's family have any special traditions that they will incorporate into he shower?
It wasn't really a tradition per se, but my family - mostly the older generation- didn't believe in giving gifts to unborn babies. At my shower, my side only gave me cash. I got one hand made blanket but it wasn't for a baby, it was generic.
I'll check out your challenge today :)

I usually play twice a week. It is addicting. I would play more often if I could. I encourage everyone to try it. You never know until you try.

Morning everyone and Happy Monday! It is a grey drizzly kind of day here. No outside yard work for me today. That's ok I did so much over the past couple of days that my back and legs could sure use the break! The weeds never stop do they?! Yesterday also included lots of :laundry::vacuuming::housekeeping: so today I don't have to do any of that kind of stuff today. DH and I are going to look for some new hiking boots for him, but other than that I don't have much else planned for the day. We will see what my Gary has planned, hopefully nothing that needs me to be involved. I really need to do some scrapping!

I got home much later than I expected and spent the next two hours cooking. Dinner was yummy but where I would have taken breaks in between steps,
there wasn't any time. My foot didn't hurt but it was tired.
Glad that you had a day out of the house, but that is a lot of standing for your poor foot!! Good to know that it wasn't sore, guess that means you must be healing well! It is a typical rainy April so far for us, but hope that the hike day will be just grey and not rainy! Hope you have some time to do some scrapping today, I am very far behind and need to do some catching up for sure!

I usually play twice a week. It is addicting. I would play more often if I could. I encourage everyone to try it. You never know until you try.
I would love to try pickleball, but I am afraid I would get hurt I am somewhat of a klutz myself and I don't need to be sitting in the waiting room of a hospital to have a broken bone taken care of :giggle4:. My brother and his wife played pickleball and my brother often got hurt. His wife however is an avid player and hopefully is still going to games. You never know perhaps my DH and I will try it out one day.

Waving :wavinghello: to everyone else who pops in here today! I am off to get another cup of coffee and wait for Heather to call and catch up with her to find out what they have been up to over the weekend. Have a lovely day everyone! :waving3:

It was quite a weekend. Saturday traveling to DC - we drove 2 hours to a western suburb and took the metro into the mall. Lots and lots of people and signs. Then we took the metro a few stops further to meet my nephew and his girlfriend for an early dinner. Back on the metro to the car, then drive home. I had to drive 16 miles on I66 before we get to the state highway that heads to Charlottesville, and I didn't feel like dealing with the traffic so I took the express lanes. I don't drive in DC much so I don't quite comprehend the whole express lane pricing, which changes. Not to mention you get about 1/10 of a second to look at it as you drive at 65 mph past the signs. I looked at my EZ Pass account this morning and my laziness cost me $35. But then, I figured nephew paid for dinner so we're still ahead. :D

By the time we got home it was after 8, so we decided to skip the watch party for the Duke game (we are alums) which was just as well because it not only started an hour late, they lost:sad1: but that means I don't have to stay up late tonight to watch the last game. Then Sunday, between church and catching up on housework, not to mention my three Sunday crosswords, just disappeared. I started watching Adolescence on Netflix and then couldn't stop so another late night to bed.

Scott's landlord asked him to take his feeders down for the spring/summer because of the bears.
Some of our neighbors take theirs in for the same reason. We haven't, but we're far enough in from the forested areas that we only occasionally get bears wandering through. If they were more common we'd take ours in. Meanwhile, it's the deer that cause most issues.

We picked out our choice for the vinyl decking and that has been ordered, the railings are in production, so it shouldn't be too much longer before the work starts on replacing the two upper decks.
I bet you're going to love it! Our daughter and son-in-law replaced their 2-level deck a bit over a year ago and whenever we visit them now I spend so much time there. The grandkids ask "Why are we eating outside" and their parents just tell them their grandma is a little different!

now it's "yoyo" dinner
Love that! I'm picking that up. Actually, between meetings and church mission, that's our plan for today.

What is happening to my retirement--crazier than work life.
I feel that way too! I think it's because retirement activities are so much more varied and irregular. You don't really get into a pattern.

Because I am so short, my seat is allll the way up, as far as it can go. If I shrink, I'm gonna need to sit on pillows or a booster seat.
My daughter (who claims 5' but I'm sure is stretching that last inch) has such a hard time finding cars she can drive. Whenever they need a new one they have to visit so many dealers to get one that will fit the kids plus stuff, and yet she can still reach the pedals. When I was a driving-everyone-around mom, I loved my minivan, but that's out of the question for her.

FP was packed. I asked the woman who runs it how the USDA grant cuts will affect them and it's not good. They have some state funding but anything they get the Fed govt will run out at the end of their fiscal year in Oct. They won't be able to get any meat or produce. Any of the support they get from SNAP will be gone too. If I can swing it, I'll stop going so the people who are in desperate need will have enough. I go to keep my head above water so I can pay down our medical debt. But as long as I am not going to lose my house, I'm in better shape than many of the people there. The woman I was talking to is devasted and we both got very choked up. I dunno. It's hard.
I don't know how so many places that are vital to the welfare of a large number of our brothers & sisters are going to manage.

I always turn my outside boots upside down and shake them just in case.
This is how I feel whenever I open the umbrella on the deck, I worry a bat will come flying out! I don't know whether to stand as far back as possible or to pick up the edge and peek inside first.

Good Morning Lovely O's

@tiffany scraps I haven't tricked pickle ball either. From the sounds of it, they may be a rush on the ER if Chris, Trudy and I all try it as we all admit to being klutzes :giggle4: :giggle4: but we (me for sure) would provide entertainment while trying.

I was very well-behaved. :angelwhistle: And how about you, Ms. Kettle?
It felt amazing being on-site and talking to people. I work with the most amazing people, such gooood energy! It's like downing a pot of coffee without the shakes. tee-hee!
I was extra good. I have nothing to scrap cause I am all caught up. I worked really hard not to do all the challenges last night. I wont allow myself more then two as I would do them all in a a day or two. I've sat with my feet up so much this weekend it feels like surgery just happened LOL. But like you and Trudy I have rain and gloomy whether so great time to be indoors. Glad you had fun at work. I'm sure they were all super happy to see you.

You did a lot this weekend. Glad its gloomy out and you can rest today. How was the first full week of retirement? Does it feel surreal still? I bit like its always been this way yet still super new? When hubs retired it was so weird, like he was always home and yet he was now always home. He worked nights so he was home part of the day so it wasn't a total switch other then I had to plan dinner for him too.

Not much happening here today. Its Monday so I will be doing laundry and cleaning house. Might try a light workout but nothing too strenuous. Its currently raining but suppose to snow later. Off to get more coffee. HAGD

Wow, the weekend flew by for me. Did it go by quickly for you too?
This YEAR goes by quickly. I cannot believe we're in April already. We had our anniversary yesterday (35 years together, married for 31) ... I mean, talking about time rushing by. But, boy do I love my man!

I'm not in a good place, not even scrapping or knitting is fun. I spend most of my time reading. Drifting off to worlds of romance and happy endings. I can't handle real life right now.

Our dishwasher has gone to dishwasher heaven. Not sure when we can afford a new one. We just had to get a new fridge in January! Trying to pretend I like hand washing. Fake it til you make it!

Morning, all. It felt so different not having DD#1 here. It is amazing how quickly having her here seemed "normal" and not having her here this morning... seemed so different. But she did call me this morning for a quick chat. :D All the family members are back to their homes safe and sound... even if they had to deal with traveling in bad weather. DD#2's son stayed on with her for a few more days. So glad he decided to do that. Hopefully things will settle back into a more normal routine for all the family.

Talk about a Yo-Yo weather... we are going from winter/snow to sunny and temps will reach 80*F in a couple of days!!! It will be time to think about taking the down comforter off the bed and switch to summer weight PJs!!! as I sit here in my fleece winter PJs and heavy socks waiting for the house to warm up enough so I can take my shower!!!

BBL.... call coming in from DD#2!

Went out for a brisk walk this morning 37 degrees. Made two laps at the park before I called it and went home to switch out laundry. Monday is laundry day.... has been for as long as I can remember.

I don't know how so many places that are vital to the welfare of a large number of our brothers & sisters are going to manage.
That is so sad and so very true. It's hard on everyone but there are people truly struggling with nowhere to turn and now even less...... I have family but not everyone does...
