Good morning! How is everyone today? I am a little tired but otherwise ok. :)
I am watching the goldfinches at the feeder on my phone again, in case I get distracted and write things less intelligible than normal. There is one make that stands............

*interrupting myself here*

I SAW HIM! I saw the red-belly!!!!
:claphands::claphands::claphands:

Hahah!!! I glanced down at my phone to see if that goldfinch was still yammering at all other finches at the feeder, when he (Mr. Red Belly, or Ms? I am making assumptions again LOL) swooped in, I ran to the window and saw him for a second before he flew off. He is smaller than I expected, I think the camera perspective makes the birds seem bigger than they are.

So as I was saying:

in case I get distracted and write things less intelligible than normal
You can't make this stuff up! :rotfl:

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and Easter. We had a low-key but nice time at Sam's sister's. The kids are too cute and Logan had me cracking up. He got a whoopie cushion from the Easter Bunny and knows how to ask Alexa to make fart sounds.
Kids! They are too funny!

Plans for today: I have so much to do. I (sort of) didn't realize how many days I accepted work in the next two weeks. Between Thurs, April 24 and May 2, I am on the schedule for 7 days. I want to spend the next couple of days here, preparing everything that I can do ahead of time. And because once May hits, family stuff runs non-stop until the end of June. I have a wedding on July 3 (IIRC), which stretches that out an extra week. Busy but exciting.

Hoping everyone has a lovely day and week ahead!

My thoughts are with my Catholic friends today. I was sad to wake up to the news about Pope Francis. It seems fitting that he passed on Easter Monday. He seemed like a very kind-hearted person and Pope.

Here in Florida I have never seen a frog unless it was caught by one of the shore birds. We hear them at night and sometimes have to shut the bedroom slider cause they are so loud. In spring we see eggs in the pond and then a hatching of babies are all over the patio, driveway and lawn. It's so wierd.
That is odd! In another few weeks, we get swarmed by the teeny tiny toads in the grass. There is a vernal pool on my neighbor's property and we would see the tadpoles there in the past. I haven't been back there in a while.
And yes, they can make a racket!!

Morning all.... it is COLD this morning - 31*F!!! Brrrr!! But the good news is that it will go up into the high 60's!!! The snow didn't accumulate... but melted when it hit the ground. We got almost 1" of rain/snow. Wish it had been more but glad for what we did get. The mountain got more snow.
Every drop of rain counts! Our temps are similar to yours ATM but it feels cooler with the clouds today.
I hope that you didn't aggravate your back with the laundry yesterday. Please take it easy today.
BTW, how are all of your kids and ILs? Everyone getting back on their feet ok? I am thinking of them.

Ha! Well that makes me happy to know I helped and for sure I can guess what he answered! I can't even tell you (or want to remember) how long it took my foot to heal with mulitple interventions and not putting ANY weight on it at all for what seems (& was) forever. So, I don't mess around anymore - even now if I feel a twinge.. I stop! Mine was a stress fracture, no fun at ALL.
I am so happy for you! And for your new-found caring/cautions, you GO girl! :beatingheart:
Hugs back at ya!
From the little bit of Google Doctoring I did, it seems like stress fractures are very tough to heal. Glad that you know when you need to stop and take a break off of your feet.
I think that we are bottling a red wine this morning, so the music will be playing and hopefully we can have the windows open and enjoy the smell of the cherry blossoms that are everywhere now. Not much else happening around here today, so perhaps a good walk will be in order for my DH and myself. I have gained about 5 lbs since he has retired :giggle4: far too much snacking and celebrating over the past month!! Its time to get serious about eating better again!
Was it the Eagles on the radio again or someone different? :D
You and me both about the weight gain! I am so unhappy, but it will come off. (It better, or I'll be really unhappy. :bawling: )

None in our area and few across the state. Some in Kodiak but I'm not sure where else but its minimal. Caribou and Moose are the big ones here.
Thanks for the info! I love learning new things. Hope you had a wonderfulday with Church and the family.

I'm accepted at a few Calgary artisan markets this summer so am busy designing jewelry to sell.
Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!
That is so exciting and I wish you all the best in creating and selling!!
Yippeee!

The chicken was really good. The harissa paste and tahini sauce were drizzled overtop when serving and neither of us found it too spicy.
That is good to hear, my "spicy" tolerance is much lower than everyone else in my family so I like to get outside opinions on new recipes.

@vickyday Sounds like you had a very relaxing Easter. I hope that your headache went away for good. Did Noah stay all weekend?

Have a great one today!! xoxoxo

I learned so much about Stress Fractures and how they occur, what they are, etc - it isn't even funny. Mine came because I was walking... Too much. A real oxymoron.... I was so proud of it and then...........

Good Morning everyone! Sending loving thoughts to our Catholic Friends this morning after waking up to the news of the Pope’s passing. A cloudy morning here, but the sun is supposed to shine this afternoon. We will be busy getting ready for the patio install today with power washing the back deck railings. They are not getting replaced and they are pretty green! I got my second page done for my Butchart Garden layout so I will be posting that to the gallery this morning. Got a txt from Heather yesterday that they had a fun time at Great Wolf Lodge, however Hunter fell sick and was vomiting most of the night, they had to have housekeeping come in to clean up during the evening. Poor little man! He managed to enjoy a part of the next morning, but they all hit the road earlier than expected and hopefully made it home without any further incident. Our son and DIL left that morning also and are now in the air on their way to London. They will have a week of being there and then our son has to fly out to Halifax the day after they arrive home. His work sure keeps him busy with travel!

@faerywings - Hooray for seeing the Red Belly!! The birds sure seem like a great distraction for you! You have a busy week ahead of you so hope that you get everything organized for it! Hopefully the Month of May isn’t too crazy for you and your family, but perhaps things will be a bit more low key for the upcoming birthdays etc so you won’t be going crazy trying to keep up with it all!

@MariJ - That is crazy that your walking was the reason for your bad fracture! I keep thinking that I should get out there do more walking, but maybe not a good idea?

Well it’s time to get the day going, I am off to make the bed and empty the dishwasher, then post my layouts to the gallery. Have a great Easter Monday everyone! :waving1

Quick in and out... Working on CP LOs today...

I managed to get all but one load of laundry done yesterday. The last load is purple/red stuff. I am wearing my purple sweats today so will do that load tomorrow. Yes... I was very careful while doing the loads - used my reacher so did very little bending. I did take a break around lunchtime and rested in the recliner for about an hour. I spent the afternoon working on 2 special LOs. They are in remembrance of our 50th Anniversary and of Leslie-Max wedding day. Ours is on April 23rd and Leslie's is on April 24th. I love the photo of Leslie/Max... I took it when they were in the limo after the photo shot in the park and getting ready to head for the church. I will post both of them on the 23rd.

Need another :coffeescreen: to keep me going on the Color Play LOs...

No, it IS good but you can't overdo or suddenly do too much.

I learned from MayoClinic.org - (I did a lot of reading back then!)
"Stress fractures are tiny cracks in a bone. They're caused by repetitive force, often from overuse.
Stress fractures often result from increasing the amount or intensity of an activity too quickly.

Bone adapts gradually to increased loads through remodeling, a normal process that speeds up when the load on the bone increases. During remodeling, bone tissue is destroyed (resorption), then rebuilt.
Bones subjected to unaccustomed force without enough time for recovery resorb cells faster than your body can replace them, which makes you more susceptible to stress fractures.
"

The key is "repetitive" and doing "too much too quickly". When you walk, the foot bends and straightens over and over and bone tissue is destroyed, that's normal and not a problem and we don't even realize it's happening as the tissue is easily rebuilt when resting. But if you do too much all of a sudden, the bone doesn't have enough time to rebuild and you get tiny cracks in the bone which are stress fractures.

So no worries, walking is great excercise and good for you, my friend who is a PT was delighted I was on a walking mission.
Just be careful not to walk much more then usual, multiple times. Normal walking routines are great, don't let me scare you off!

Sixteen years ago today this little man grabbed hold of my finger and our hearts became one and they've beat as one ever since- This is the first birthday I won't be able to spend with him, but any time I do see him is a celebration. He took and passed his driver's license test this morning, big rite of passage. I sent him this picture on his 13th birthday and his reply was, "Woof, Nana, what was up with that hair?" Well, at the time it seemed like a good idea.

:rotfl: You crack me up!!
Hope that you had a wonderful time outside. Are you seeing any frog eggs yet?
Way too early for frogs yet here. They're still wrapped up in their snowmobile suits and down comforters. They'd be too cold to perform yet, and I don't mean just the singing performance.
OMG! I just love your sense of humor!! You crack
It makes me happy to know I can crack someone up by just being my weird self. I'm lucky to live blocks away from a nice biketrail, but I'm really jealous of you living by water and being able to kayak every day.

Oh what a bummer. Nothing worse than vomiting except vomiting on what is supposed to be a fun getaway.

Gotten nothing done today. We had a lazy day yesterday, started binge watching Bosch Legacy, had popcorn for supper and were about to open a bottle of wine when Wendell's crazy wine drinking sister asked me if we wanted to come out. I've turned her down so many times I didn't want to do it again and say no, we have wine here and want to watch TV instead. We went out for a couple hours, came home shortly after 8 and instead of going to bed, Wendell says, "Do you want to go finish watching Bosch?" 8 o'clock is our bedtime and we want to watch 2 more hours of TV. Guess you could say we were hooked . I was shocked when I woke up at 6:30 this morning instead of my usual 4 am.
