Guess what??????????
I freaking LOVE my job!!
I was so happy being outside with the kids. Loved seeing them run around. Loved seeing them engaged with lessons. Even loved... ummm.... ok, how about this?-- *appreciated* their screaming. LOL
I pooped out at 1.30. 100% done. I still had another half hour to finish up but plopped on a picnic table, let some of the kids run wild, and some of them did an art project. I apologized to the chaperones that I could not do the last activity and they told me to go and sit. And I tried. Really, I tried. I patted myself on the back-- and I still am- for being smart enough to wear the boot. Best decision I made in a long, long time.
I had the group on the field to play Garden Tag and as I was shouting encouragement to the kids, I was sort of playing along. Not running, but at one point, I caught myself jumping like a frog along with them. When the game was over, I had to sit down so we played a few rounds of Nature I Spy. Then we did the seed scavenger hunt.... and *then* I was stick-a-fork-done. Heh.
The director wanted to catch up with me about some upcoming programs which meant I was off of bathroom cleaning duty. Yay!!!! It's been bonkers in the office. All of the FT staff have been out. Lauren has a bad concussion and Nicole is finishing her Master's Thesis. Anne has been trying to coordinate all of that on top of her own job. Our Earth Day Event is next Sunday, so we talked about what she would like me to do. I am running a craft table and promo-ing HS programs. AmericCorp/Watershed Ambassadors was supposed to be doing a stream study, but their funding was just cut. Anne isn't sure what that immediately means for our watershed Ambassador Partner. I might be running the stream program if she is not available or allowed to, like I said, no one knows what any of this means. We also talked about a 3-day preK summer camp that I'll run, plus we will are goin to be starting off-site programs sometime in the future that she is hoping I will lead. And she and Lauren would like me to lead some of the Forest Bathing Programs, eventually.
OMG, I came home just buzzing with excitement!
I loooove my job!!!

Today is FP and then I need to make an example of my craft to send to the director for advertising. It's a nature self-portrait-- Make your face using natural/foraged materials. How fun is that? (I hope it is fun for the kids, I know it will be for me)
Oh that reminds me-- cute kid-comment of the day... one of the kids turned 5 a few weeks ago and because of that, I seemed smaller since he saw me in Feb, and that he is going to be as tall as me soon.
My heart... ♥
Oh and one more thing I am super excited about!!! - I am going to be writing a "Kids Corner" bit in the monthly newsletter. My idea is to review a kids' book and then have a little craft idea or activity to go with it.
Any book recs-- send them my way!!
J really wants her breakfast, lemme feed her before she passes out LOL!
