Yes! I am still here and we survived the field trip and....*drum roll* we didn't lose a kid!
Considering the number of kids (go ahead and imagine 130 ten-year-olds, 4 school buses full, let loose in the woods! :thud: ), that can be a feat in itself. We already had fewer staff than Lauren would have likedbut when we did our pre-meet, she announced that we were down two more. One had food poisoning, and another was in a car accident on the way to work. (Someone made a right on red when they shouldn't have, she is OK, her bumper is not)
That left each of us alone with our groups, no one was a floater/runner.
I don't know what magic Lauren worked but the entire day ran perfectly!! Switching between rotations is usually a nightmare with 6 groups but it went PER-FECT! Kids were good, my sessions were good, and everyone seemed to be having fun.

My funny story of the day:
I have 22 kids sitting on stumps around a fire circle. 'Member, they are 10. This was my second rotation, and we are talking and commenting nonstop. I am asking them how they used the items I gave them to help them survive. They get random items and need to come up with creative ways to use them if they were lost in the wilderness. I am walking around the circle, collecting the items as they finish, while listening to their ideas and then asking them additional questions to expand upon them. I am talking to a group of boys who had farro rods and they said something about using the string that connects the rod to catch fish. I repeat back to them, "Yes! That is a smart way to use the farro rods... but I got tangled with my words and said "a fart way." At first, I was hoping they didn't notice, but one look at their faces was hysterical. The glances back and forth between them and then at me, I couldn't help but chuckle a little too- but then I moved on and fast.

Today is my Gary's birthday and he doesn't want to do anything special, but I'll have to see what I can come up with on the fly. Today is FP so maybe they will have something to inspire me.

Hugs to you!

Building fires----Patience, clarity of mind, and strength of steel.....and BIG buckets of water!!!!!
I have been adding fire safety to my intro and point out where we have garden hose and a water hook up- just in case!
Good Sunny Morning!
The sun is out! It blinded me when I walked out of the bedroom. :claphands:
yay sun!!!
its breakup season.
Oooh, I remember you talking about that last year, all the mud!
Today is Friday and the sun is out!! If she stays I get to porch sit this afternoon and read my book!!! WOOT WOOT!! Not counting on it though cause that's how the season rolls round here, clouds right roll in but ya know what? Its not raining at the moment and I am calling it a win.
Did you get to do this? I sure hope you did!!
Just finished uploading Challenge #6.... I forgot that I had it finished... good thing that I keep track of LOs in my notebook.
You are so organized! You need to be with the incredible number of pages you make in a month!
can't imagine how you manage them all and add making fires,
It can be.... interesting! :giggle4:
Believe it or not, the kids are usually so excited for me to light their fires that they are 100% tuned in. The biggest issue is that when
they crowd around each fire, they sometimes knock down someone else's unlit fire. I remind them to be mindful where they walk.
And the fires are palm-sized, and rarely does the kindling catch. Out ot the 20 or so fires they made yesterday, only 1 or 2 did.

Just 1-2? Yeah the sale is great but my checking account is screaming at me. Its doesn't understand girl math! I got twice the product for that price. Who cares that I spent grocery money :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: (not really just a joke, groceries are all purchased)
:lol23:

DEBBY!!!!!!!! ♥♥♥
I am absolutely drooling over the flowers (so pretty) and the photos, the clarity and color-- ah-may-zing!!!

130+ kids!!!!! :wow::wow2: Prayed for everyone's safety and sanity!
It must have worked!!! ♥
PS @faerywings - Saw my first hummingbird yesterday! WHOOT!
:woohoo:

OH MY! I cannot believe you DIDN'T lose the 10-year-olds at that point since their whole life is about "farting"! :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:
Prayers answered in that you didn't lose anyone, even with fewer staff than thought!
Happy Birthday to your Gary! I pray he is feeling better!

Good Morning,
I am stiff and sore from all the bending, tugging and moving stuff around yesterday, but the bedroom is looking so much better! I was going to "make" a spot for my desk in Mark's office when we got to that room, but I think I like it right where it is! I am definitely going to have to get a different chair, however! The folding chair is too low and the old office chair from Mark's parents is too straight backed! I think I'll get Tim's old one from the parsonage and see if it will work in this spot. I certainly wish I had taken a before picture! Mark took my closet bar (metal rod) to work yesterday and ground it down so the new shoe bag I got would go over the end to be hung in my closet out of the way. I will leave the shoes I wear most often lying in the floor of the closet.

Mark went back to work for about 3 hours today. After he gets home we will be getting ready to go to a Bible Conference about 20 minutes away from here. Our pastor and some other pastors we fellowship with will be preaching.

Other than that, not much going on! I never did get around to messing in laundry yesterday, but I think I will do that tomorrow afternoon. Depending on the weather. If we have rain I might have to postpone the laundry. We need the rain, for sure!

Only one sighting of the hummingbird. Haven't seen him since. Hopefully the new nectar I bought doesn't keep them away! We shall see!

Have a great weekend!

Plus teachers and chaperones and sometimes the chaperones are harder to deal with than the kids.
The teachers are no picnic to deal with either. I taught computer classes to teachers after school and teaching computers to kids as part of my library classes was a whole lot easier. They were at least polite and knew they needed to listen.
Whoot whoot first pics taken with my new camera....got to practice more. 24.2 megapixels are a huge improvement over 18.
Back later off to get my much needed haircut.
yayyy! You took pictures of my absolute very most best favoritest flowers! I have 3 of them blooming right now, in the house of course, and a fourth about ready.

I tried starting a layout yesterday and it just wasn't happening. Managed to pick out templates and pictures but didn't get any farther than that. It was a gray chilly day and of course there was a baseball game at the school I taught at so only 6 miles away. It was 49° when we went so 2 sweatshirts, winter coat WITH mittens sweatpants, forgot quilt, but had car blanket, forgot stocking cap, but had hooded sweatshirt. The game did NOT get off to a good start. The umpire's strike zone appeared to be all over the place and the first 3 batters struck out. Bottom of the first I felt a drop of moisture hit my lip, my nose wasn't running :runningdog:no one near by was spitting sunflower shells , what is UP with THAT ??, so it had to be atmospheric. Sure enough, second inning, there is a mist in the air, Christian comes up to bat, strikes out, usually he handles it quite maturely, but today was not that day. A couple of words came outwhat is UP with THAT ??, so it had to be atmospheric. Sure enough, second inning, there is a mist in the air, Christian comes up to bat, strikes out, usually he handles it quite maturely, but today was not that day. a couple of words come out rather loudly as he's walking back to the dugout, it was not shazam or french fry, granted his teammates did too, it wasn't quite as audible. The wind picked up and so did the mist, you could it drifting across the field, the game did not pick up. They had better pitching, fielding hitting. I made it to the 5th inning, my shoes were wet, pretty much everything was starting to get wet from constant mist, there was only 15 minutes left, my fun meter had run out, so we folded up the lawn chairs and trudged to the car. There was a woman out there with a good camera and a good telephoto lens, similar to mine, no WAY my equipment would be out in weather like that. It was 45° when we got home. Changed into dry clothes, cleaned our glasses, made popcorn, went downstairs, wrapped up in blankets and watched TV. The End. It was 45° this morning, I'm wondering where the 80's are that they told us we were getting. Today, it's cool start to nice weekend ahead, umm, isn't Saturday the weekend ?

Wow... it was quite a storm that blew through the area late yesterday. A huge hail storm covered about a mile of I-40 just to the west of here... it looked like the area was covered with snow!!! It tapered off before it got into the city but we did have the high winds from it. I need to touch base with my sister today as her area also had some bad winds.

Going to work on a couple of challenge LOs today. Then I may tackle getting the rest of the VHS tapes out of the master bedroom. The shoulder is much better now but will take it easy and quit if it flares up again. I was going to take the comforter off the bed but night temps are down into the low 40's for the next week... :cold::cold:... and daytime temps only in the 50's-60's. Crazy!!!

Good Morning!

Yes! I am still here and we survived the field trip and....*drum roll* we didn't lose a kid!
This is wonderful!!!! Always a good day not loosing kids. Sounds like a fun time was had by all too.
Today is my Gary's birthday
Happy birthday Gary!
Depending on the weather. If we have rain I might have to postpone the laundry. We need the rain, for sure!
Why would rain stop you from doing laundry? Do you hang it outside?

Oh Twin that sounds cold! Good job making it so far into the game.

Thats crazy to me. When we get hail the biggest they get it the size of a pencil eraser and its never very much. I cant imagine the hail you got. Glad youre okay.

Yesterday was crazy. The sun was out, then it was black clouds then some sun, the clouds. We had thunder! We dont usually get thunder. Then it rained. This morning walking out of the bedroom was blinding. The sun is up and no clouds. Its 31* but its sunny. It should warm up a touch. Have to go help the girls at work for a couple hours today but mostly just sitting around doing nothing. Maybe a touch of recover after AJ layout LOL Off to get more coffee.

Morning everyone! I think that we all had the same type of weather yesterday! Cool and OMG so windy!! The wind snapped off a huge branch from our bad neighbours side of the fence and was partially sitting on my beautiful Japanese Maple. So I grabbed my Gary and we hoisted it up and back over to their side of the fence. They probably won't even notice it for a couple of months  .
We have been so busy with yard work etc. that I was MIA from here yesterday! By the time we get done with the yards we are pooped and just sit out on the new deck and have a glass of wine before starting supper. We are loving the new decking! Today will be a running a few errands type of day and I need to get my winter clothes moved from the closet and put away for the spring/summer. I love that I can live in flip flops again! I do need to get some new shorts and a few tops so maybe soon I will go shopping. Oh I made some War Wonton Soup the other day with my homemade bone broth and OMG it was so good!! I loaded it up with wontons and huge prawns, some chicken and bok choy , brocolli and a sliced carrot took the pot over to the In-Laws and shared it with them for lunch. They were so happy to have it and ranted and raved about the soup. I will be making it again soon, when prawns are on sale. Man those things are expensive!! But oh so delicious! Anyway I haven't had much time for scrapping since my Gary retired, he is keeping me very busy! Its a good thing though as lots of projects are getting done finally!

The glances back and forth between them and then at me, I couldn't help but chuckle a little too- but then I moved on and fast.
Wow that is a lot of kids to watch out for and lighting fires too :holysheep:! Sounds like it all went perfectly though! Too funny about the fart comment :giggle4: I bet they loved it as like vicky said at that age they are all about farts!!
Today is my Gary's birthday and he doesn't want to do anything special, but I'll have to see what I can come up with on the fly. Today is FP so maybe they will have something to inspire me.
Happiest of Birthday's to your Gary! I hope he feels better and that you find something at the FP to inspire something special for his day!

Welcome to my world of being stiff and sore!! Only my aches are from pulling weeds, so many weeds!! However there is something satisfying about yanking out a weed and getting the whole root and saying Ha I gotcha!!

Ugh on the bad weather for your ball game! Opps on the language! Sounds like it wasn't a good day for anyone! Hope it has warmed up for you today!
temps are down into the low 40's for the next week... :cold::cold:... and daytime temps only in the 50's-60's. Crazy!!!
The weather is just crazy everywhere! We went from summer warm to temps that felt like winter in the course of a couple of hours yesterday, the wind sure blew in something from somewhere!!
It is strange when you get thunder and you are not used to getting it! We would get thunderstorms all the time when we lived on the prairie, but here it is very rare!! The sun is shining bright here this morning too, but oh my the temps have sure changed! Hopefully it warms up again soon!

Ok I hear my Gary grumbling about his tummy talking to him, so I guess its time to get some brunch going. Have a great Saturday everyone! I hope you all find something fun to do today! :waving3:

Anyway I haven't had much time for scrapping since my Gary retired, he is keeping me very busy! Its a good thing though as lots of projects are getting done finally!
This is sad, no scrap time, and amazing and exciting that projects are getting done. Hope you dont over do it and end up too sore. I'm loving the deck updates. And that youre enjoying it so much. You deserve "porch sitting" time with hubs. Its my favorite thing, to porch sit but my hubs cant sit for long LOL Drives me crazy.

Oh... this has been quite a day already... Wanted to call my sister and find out how it was at her house in TX last night. When I dialed her number on the home (cordless phone system) it took her number but would not call the number... message was "Hold" on Home line.... WHAT???? Hung up and grabbed my cell phone and call the home number which went straight to our answering service... no ring into it all at!!! Did some on-line searches with VTech but could not find what to do. The phone is about 3 years old... which is about the life time of most of them I have had. So over to BB and bought a different brand. The phones have to be charged for about 7 hours before they will be back in service!!! Thanks heavens I have a cell phone that I can use in the meantime.

Decided to drive over to the brand new Market St store before heading home. BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!!! Got my Free 40 bottles of water (coupon) and signed up as a member. The members get specials each week so will see how I like them price wise. Turns out that it is not south of the hospital after all but a block north of there and easy access from 2 other side roads!!! Yea!!! I don't have to go across traffic after all (there are lights at both of the side roads)....

Reached Sister and heard her tale of tornado sirens and warnings... 3 separate ones going off from midnight until 4 AM!!! They hit close to her but not in the park where she lives, thank goodness!!! She lives in a manufactured house so that made it even scarier.

Well, the storm clouds are moving in rapidly and wind is picking up... See you later.

Good Morning!

This is wonderful!!!! Always a good day not loosing kids. Sounds like a fun time was had by all too.

Happy birthday Gary!

If it rains very much our septic tank doesn't like for me to do laundry.

Those weeds! I totally agree about getting the whole root! Satisfying!
I'm interested in your soup you mentioned. Do you have a recipe you can share, please? Thanking you in advance! ;)

Good morning, my lOvely ladies!

How was everyone's Saturday? Restful? Hmmm, :thinking2: --- my guess is for most of you, that would be a big fat no! LOL

As for me, I had a good day, Gary had a good day, and I got a b-day cake at the FP!!! dance4

Karma must have been smiling on me. Do you remember when I was trying to sell some of Cait's toys at the Winter Wonderland at work? I hadn't been able to bring the leftover items home, but a coworker helped me get the boxes of stuff in my car the other day. We were just going to put them on the curb and list it on the local freebie FB page. When I realized that it was FP day, I know there are a few families that have little kids that might have use for them. I asked the woman who runs the pantry if she could use them and she was thrilled. She said that she already had two moms in mind and my gut is telling me that the family I am hoping they go to is the same as one of the ones she is thinking of. The mom has 4 little ones, 3 girls IIRC, and an abusive (hopefully ex by now) DH.

So yup, when I saw that birthday cake on the table, I was excited! Wins all around!

Plans for today-- Catch up on scrapping and other random things that have been lost in the shuffle this past week :p
I have my plans for Tuesday's HS 99% completed and the plans for the Friday Pod Field Trip 95% completed. I am not going to be at that one, so I'd like to have most of the day planned and prepped for the people who fill in for me.
That's it!

Have a fantastic day!

BTW, Gary told me not to get him any gifts but I used the photo and LO of the two of us from Cait's wedding for an acrylic cube from Walgreens. I love that photo of us soooo much, it makes me happy whenever I see it. Hope it does the same for him too ♥

I am stiff and sore from all the bending, tugging and moving stuff around yesterday, but the bedroom is looking so much better! I was going to "make" a spot for my desk in Mark's office when we got to that room, but I think I like it right where it is! I
I am not surprised that you were stiff and sore. How are you feeling today? You have been kicking butt with decluttering. :highfive:
I hope you see the hummer again! Not one sighting at my house :bawling:
I did get to see two ravens at work the other day and a bear! The bear was crossing the road as I driving in so not on the property, but the den has to be nearby.

The teachers are no picnic to deal with either. I taught computer classes to teachers after school and teaching computers to kids as part of my library classes was a whole lot easier.
Why am I not surprised?

Oh boy, some days life gets the best of ya.
The weather, the crummy umpiring, more yucky weather-- sounds like not the best day for any of you.
It was supposed to rain here all day yesterday and guess what did not happen? We might have gotten some rain overnight but not enough. Maybe today *finges crossed*
It was 45° this morning, I'm wondering where the 80's are that they told us we were getting. Today, it's cool start to nice weekend ahead, umm, isn't Saturday the weekend ?
I hope the weather warms up for you!

Had to post quickly. My brother called about my dad, who had two small vertigo episodes yesterday :/

The shoulder is much better now but will take it easy and quit if it flares up again.
You know what I am gonna say.... say it with me!!
:protest:
"Don't push yourself!"

You had all weather patterns rolled into a day, didn't you? Hope you had a nice time scrapping!

@taxed4ever Good for you guys putting the branch back where it belonged. How wonderful to sit on the new deck and enjoy a nice glass of wine with your Gary :drinkbuddies:
Your soup sounds incredible! Did you stuff the wontons yourself?
Welcome to my world of being stiff and sore!! Only my aches are from pulling weeds, so many weeds!! However there is something satisfying about yanking out a weed and getting the whole root and saying Ha I gotcha!!
Is it weird that I am extremely jealous about this? You have no idea how much I wanted to do yardwork yesterday but it's too hard to do while sitting with my foot straight. That would hurt my back from bending and raking wouldn't be good either. (Friday, I am going to be fully cleared on Friday. If I keep saying that, it will be true.)
ITA with the satisfaction of getting the weeds out!

@BrightEyes what a bonkers day! Everything from trying to make a phone call to stoms. Glad that your sister was safe with the tornados. They must be terrifying.

Ok my dears, time to work on groceries!

xoxox

@BrightEyes Wow that was scary that you couldn't reach your sister. I'm glad it worked out well, that all is ok with the tornados around her area.

@faerywings Your story was a cute one for sure. Just a little slip of the tongue! If it was my daughters family...it would have gone on and on, you would have been embarrassed. How wonderful all the things you teach the children I admire you.

@taxed4ever better many projects than being bored in retirement. I cannot imagine a day with nothing to do. Enjoy it at least it's not a schedule and you can pick or chose the day project or event.

@AK_Tracy Your mud season sounds horrible so I guess you don't miss it this year especially since you are not 100%.

We are having great weather 80's and sunny which I love. I had a wonderful birthday, calls from kids, grandchildren. Hubby took me to breakfast but all I really wanted to do was play with my new camera. I got to play for a few hours but still do not have it hooked to wifi yet. Our son and wife sent flowers with a light up butterfly...they know me. I got a much needed haircut. I gave my sweet hair dresser a basket that I made for her and she loved it. Then over to the grocery store since it was close. I had to pick up a few things well that didn't go well- I filled the cart! When I got home Jay was at the club doing something so I had to bring everything in myself, got it all put away then he got home- that figures!!! Then I got to do a fun photo shot. Baby ducks came to the cracked corn dish. OMG they are so cute. I just love our Muscovy ducks but most people think they are ugly. They are friendly, docile and wag their tails when they come over so happy. We went to the brazilan restaurant for dinner...so delicious, I had the lamb chops, they were melt in your mouth tender with yucca fries and grilled veggies. One of my favorite places to go.
Yesterday busy all day cleaning and cooking because we were having our HS friend and her husband over for dinner. She is the one who had the brain aneurysm in Jan. She is getting around with a walker now and has walked a little with out it. We sat out on the patio enjoying the weather, her speak is muddled and most times its difficult to understand. She has it in her mind but cannot form the words Bob translates allot. We took them dinner 3 weeks ago and her speech is better now so I am hoping that by the time we are back in October it will be even better. I made Chicken Divan with bowtie pasta and salad. They really enjoyed it and it gave Bob a break. It was a fun visit she was glad to get out. about 15 minutes after they left the baby ducks showed up with Momma she wanted to see them so bad. We have a nest of eggs by the magnolia tree so hopefuly
We just had 2 1/4 inches of much needed rain. Jay at club setting up for county wide clean up with dumpsters locals can dispose of things for free. I am planning to sort pic off my phone to make room for the summer snaps. Easy day. Tomorrow will be busy as its the final week to prep for our summer long trip. I'm putting on a photo of one of the baby ducks jumping off the wall practice for landing!! this new camera is the bomb..faster shutter speed.
Ok the small world that we all know about!...... Got a text from a marina friend up North. She said her grandson is marying the granddaughter of a boat friend from NJ. Well sure enough Jay hooked them up with the boat same brand as ours and they joined our yacht club, so we became friends. We used to hang with them most weekend in the summer when they were in CT.

Well that is it for now. Got to get sorting my pics.

Wow... been a busy day already... turns out that my cordless home phone system was NOT the problem... it was the modem. Never suspected it was the modem as the internet was working fine. Got in touch with Comcast this morning via my cell phone. Took a couple of resets on their end but finally got the landline working again. So... now I have 2 cordless phone systems... the old one and the new one I just bought yesterday. I am going to go back to the old system... once I get all the handsets on it recharged. :wow2: Will pack the new one back up and keep it until I need it. Found the receipt on the old one and it is 3 years old so it will probably fail sometime this year. At least I will be ready when that happens!!! :giggle4:

Have to get 1 LO uploaded to galleries this morning and work on another for release tomorrow. Will be back later after I get those done. HAGD

Good morning. I had a great day out at a euchre tournie in Calgary. We didn't win any money but had fun. Got home for dinner which was creamy chicken and spinach with potatoes. I am loving the variety we are getting with these delivered meal kits. The good thing is, aside from the recipe cards that come with them, is that many of the sauces I can make myself later when we don't get the delivery. One of my fave sauces has been apricot jam, dijon, stoneground mustard, garlic and maybe a few other spices, can't remember offhand. Tonight we have pork tenderloin with a sauce. I've been trying to stockpile jewelry, need about 30 more necklaces and about 50 more bracelets and then I'll feel ready for the first 2 day market next month.

I'm going to my first crafty ladies morning get-together tomorrow. No class booked, I'll just hang out and maybe work on some bead dangles as I chat. I've put together a few small plastic divider organizers to bring with essentials and will put my essential tools into a zipped case.

I'm getting laundry and floor washing done today. Falling behind on house chores lately. I might even get a scrap page done later.

@faerywings Happy belated b-day to Gary. Did you have a family dinner?

@taxed4ever I bet you are enjoying your deck. Our weather has jumped from snow to summer heat LOL. There isn't much spring here. I commend you on your hiking. I went for 1.5 hr walk and it wiped me out. I need to get out more now that the weather is good.

I need more coffee, then back to jewelry design. HAGD everyone.

Good Morning Ladies!

I know you say karma, but this to me was a beautiful God moment. How wonderful to have blessed a family you dont know. And then to find the cake for Gary. Hope he loves the cube with the photo. I am sure he will. Its a special photo.

@BoatLady Debby your little baby ducks are so adorable!!!!! Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday.

@BrightEyes Kay I'm glad you got the phone figured out. And now you have a back up!

@bcgal00 Rae have fun designing!! Sounds like its going well and youre still having fun.

Today is gloomy. But its almost summer, the trees have broke bud!! The leaves are popping and it looks green out there now. Now will the darn dandelions please pop up for the bees.

Off to feed the dogs before church. They're demanding to be fed. Have a wonderful day!

BTW, Gary told me not to get him any gifts but I used the photo and LO of the two of us from Cait's wedding for an acrylic cube from Walgreens. I love that photo of us soooo much, it makes me happy whenever I see it. Hope it does the same for him too ♥

I hope the weather warms up for you!
Feeling better today since we were gone most of the day to the Bible conference yesterday. The hummer made another appearance yesterday. He is pretty small! So maybe a young one. I hope you see some soon!
I love seeing bears, especially cubs, from afar! ;)

Are the baby ducks in your picture Muscovy? So cute! My sister raised them when she was younger and still lived at home.

YUP! I agree with you!

Good Afternoon,
Been working on church stuff this afternoon after church, getting the deposit ready and paying some church bills.
Doing laundry for Mark that I never got around to this weekend. I'll work on mine this week.
Need to make a grocery order later to pick up tomorrow. Want to go to the parsonage and get Tim's old office chair. This folding chair with chair pads in it just doesn't cut it! I hope I can get the chair in the back of my SUV. So I will probably run those errands as I run to make the deposit. Mark will probably want to eat lunch tomorrow with me, too. Seems to be a Monday thing. ;)
I think I've basically got the bedroom the way it is going to be.....for now.....until I get another wild hair to trim the excess down even more. Haven't decided what room I want to work on next. I'm thinking maybe starting on the closet in the living room. What a mess!
Have a good afternoon!

HI Everyone, How's everyone been?
We've had two new bird sightings this week that I've never seen here before. One was a Rose-breasted Grosbeak, the other was a Blue Grosbeak. Both unmistakable and so beautiful!

@vickyday You're encouraging me to put up our hummingbird feeders. I haven't done it yet! They must be here if you have them.
@faerywings Happy Late Birthday to Gary!
@BoatLady Those Muscovy's are adorable. It sound's like you had a great birthday!
