It's the weekend, everyone! and guess what?? The air is breathable again. Woohoo!
So far, the day is off to a great start. Sunshine, blue sky, Saturday, and to top it all off- the Oscraps party.

As I read my post from yesterday, I have to 'fess up. I didn't clean my office at all. I put a few things away but that was it. Other cook and clean, I have no idea what I accomplished. I spent most of the day taking the dogs in and out. J whines and scratches at the front door, I take her out. She sniffs the air, surveys the activity on the street, then lies down, still watching everything. I tell her to come in, she ignores me, I tell her "On your feet." She is still ignoring me, so I lift her to her feet, and tell her "inside." She gives me dirty looks while I take her by the collar to lead her in. Half an hour later, she does it again.
I was scrambling to figure out what to make for dinner when I found a head of broccoli in the wrong bin. I was going to make a quiche with it but there wasn't enough so I filled in with some caramelized onion. It came out really yummy! The pie crust also came out nicely-- I have the best recipe for it but it's hit or miss whether I hit the right spot before it gets overworked.

I am going to spend the morning here at the party and this afternoon is going to be catching up on all of the yard work I missed b /c of the orange air. My rhodo and azaleas are done blooming so I'll clip them back. I haven't seen TJ recently. I; 'll keep my eyes open when I am working on the rhodo since that is where I saw him last.

that's about it. Hope you are all having a fabulous day!:hug3:

Good morning ladies! I don’t know what the deal is but I’m wide awake before 5 every morning. This morning it was 4:00. The list of “to do” items is long. Still, we went to the beach for sunrise. Everyday is so different!

My heart is so happy today. This time next week Sydney will be home. She will be jet lagged and probably crabby but she will be home. :dancingelephant: :cucumber:

I promised to make French toast and scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast so I need to do that. Then look at the to do list and see what I can cross off!

I have been wracking my brain for ideas to help your stomach and I have two suggestions for you to look into. Have you tried probiotics? They can help balance gut flora that, when out of whack, can cause bloating and gassiness. The other is papaya enzyme which is a digestive aid. I used to get them both at Puritans Pride.
I have no idea if they will help you but you never know.
17 years has got to be a record!
I wonder! I am trying to remember if any of the OG digiscrap shops are still around- The Lilypad and Sweet Shoppe Designs have been around a long time, but as long as the O?
Congrats to your adopted grandson on his graduation! Hope you guys are able to get a ride in soon.

@Cherylndesigns I love the avatars. I also love the Golden Girls. They were one of my go-to shows when I was home with a newborn Scott. I went back to the avatar/meme site and rearranged the text, thanks for the suggestion.
Hope that your legs are feeling better too!

@LSlycord How often have you been going to see the sunrise, more often than not it seems. So lovely to start your day.
Still no signs of hummingbirds for me either. I am going to use up the sugar water I made and then probably take it down. No point in wasting sugar.
So is it down to six sleeps for Syd? dance3 I wish there was some way to mentally adjust to having adults, I am-- always will- struggle.

Off to the Gallery-- :motorcycle1: leaving some :lovey3:

That pirate ship is so cool looking! Great job!
I have tried probiotics to no avail. I have not heard of papaya enzymes, however! Ilene gets some free medical things with her medicare supplement. I think I will ask her to get some for me. She is always saying if there is something I need let her know because she can only use so much and the rest is overload or wasted! Thanks!

Struggling with having adult children is a mom thing! The only way I have been able to adjust is because I had no choice. WV's work status was pretty low when they got out on their own. They had to go where they could find work. Only one of the four is still in WV. There is only one living near me. One is in Alabama and one is in Ohio. But when we get together I am in 7th heaven! And even though I have one of the four living 20 minutes away, their lives are so busy with their 3 teens that I hardly see them. I guess my biggest satisfaction is knowing they are all thriving and doing well in their lives, which I thank the Lord for!

Good Morning!
Saturday it is.....happy I am! The sun is out with blue skies! Later on today we are planning a bike ride with friends (our pastor and his wife) and go to supper with them somewhere! He just traded up to a beautiful bike with 2 wheels in the back! I am so jealous!

This morning I need to get some laundry started. In between loads I will work on a designer challenge and Cheryl's challenge.

Mark's Google revisits brought up this photo today. The piano player took the picture. This is my first and second husbands, Tim and Mark. This is just a few months before Tim died. He has a patch on his eye as the cancer was in his brain and had him seeing double. The only way to relieve it was to wear the patch. He had already had brain surgery (on our 41st anniversary the prior month) to remove a golf ball sized tumor but the cancer came back and he died 3 months to the day of his brain surgery. I am thankful Mark and Tim had a good relationship because we both like remembering and talking about Tim. He was a wonderful, Godly man. Not sure why the Lord blessed me with two good men because I surely didn't deserve them!

That's it for me! Have fun today and Party Hardy! :partyhorn: :jumpingcake:

Good morning ladies. I went to my eye exam yesterday and it wasn't good news. In the two months since the last visit, the glaucoma has progressed considerably. The doctor put me on a different combo medication which hopefully will slow or halt the progression b/c the next step will be surgery which he says has less than a 50/50 success and could result in numerous irreversible complications. He will do the tests again in 2 wks. Right now I have red eyes, low grade pain and am losing some peripheral vision. I have to wear a heated eye mask once or twice a day and he wants me on magnesium and omegas which are good for eye health. I have to be careful with anything that raises BP as that also raises the eye pressure which causes further progression. So he wants me to reduce caffeine, not lower my head below chest level i.e. hanging off end of bed, yoga where you tilt downwards, etc. No heavy exertion or exercise, just low/moderate. I'll do anything to help slow this down. I'm tolerating the new medication and pray it will help.

So, sucky news for me yesterday. Got my 3rd covid booster yesterday afternoon, had a terrible headache and sore arm but other than that was ok. Today the headache is gone, just a sore arm.

I'm going to have coffee with a friend this morning and that'll be the end of my coffee for the day (3 cups). Doc said to limit to 1-3 a day, not my usual 7-8. So today I had 2 and will have one when visiting and then will switch to tea and water later.

On a happy note, I booked our hotel rooms for Spain and Italy. In Rome I booked a B/B and fingers crossed that we love the quaintness of it and the elevator works as we'll be going up 3-5 flights of stairs. Regardless, we will be in Rome, that is the main thing and it will be close enough that Jen and I can go out and wander to some sights within walking distance.

Booked airfare...yikes. It was double what we expected. Travel is crazy expensive right now.

I'm hopping in the shower and heading out so need to go. I'll check in with the party stuff later. HAGD everyone.

Good afternoon ladies... I have about two minutes here and then we are off to my Brother and SIL place before heading back to the reunion. Yesterday was so much fun and we had lots of laughs and great conversation with a bunch of our old classmates! Tonight will be more of the same with even more showing up as some could not make it to the Friday night meet and greet. Other nice news is that it is pouring rain here!! Hooray, finally some moisture, it rained all night long and all day today so far. I laugh as who would have ever thought I would be so happy to see it raining?? Hope to get some great photos tonight, my one friend took a couple of great selfies last night and tonight should have more opportunity to take more photos. I am so terrible for not getting photos as I get so caught up in talking away with everyone and forget all about it. I hope that you are all having a wonderful time at the birthday party for the O!! I hope to get back in here late Sunday an catch up a bit.

@faerywings - So happy to hear that the smoke has left your area!! Enjoy getting out in your garden and catching up on the dirt therapy!! Say hi to TJ if you happen to see him/her.

@LSlycord - The mornings at the beach must be so tranquil!! Sorry you are getting up so darn early, but that just seems to happen as we get older :(. Only 6 more sleeps til Syd arrives home, you must be getting so excited to see her again! Hope she is not too jet lagged and grumpy!!

@bcgal00 - I am so sorry to hear of your glaucoma trouble!! SIL Linda has it also, but has had the surgery and it worked very well for her.

@vickyday - Has your doctor checked to see if you have a Hiatal hernia?? My Gary had that and before they put on meds to control it, he couldn't even get food to his mouth without his stomach revolting on him. You might want to check that out?? The operation to fix it is not nice (painful) but there are meds to control it and that is what my DH chose to do. (because men are babies when it comes to pain) :giggle4:. It sure would be nice to get your tummy issues sorted out!!

@Cherylndesigns - Your Avatar challenge was fun to look through hope you are getting some laughs from it!

Ok its time to get our suitcase packed and get going! Have a fun Saturday evening everyone!! :bye2:

Well, I am back! And it only took 11 hours. I bet that you think I crossed a bunch of things off of my list...well, no, I did not! We had breakfast, then Brian and I headed to the store. I had purchased a hanger for the ironing board from Amazon but it was for an ironing board with a bar across the bottom and ours have two legs like a V. So we went to UPS and shipped it back. Then we stopped in the Wild Bird Store and got one more bird feeder stand. Met a really nice woman who works there....she moved here from Wisconsin. Found a small bird bath that I think I will try in the garden in the back yard...waiting until we get the landscaping finished this week. Then we went to Publix which is our local grocery store...twice a year, they run a coupon sale for gas cards. If you buy $50 worth of groceries, you can buy a $50 gas card for $40. We got a few items and picked up two gas cards.

We were almost finished when my cell phone rang. I had scheduled an appointment for a hair cut and color at a new place and the woman called and said that she had a last minute cancellation and that she could work me in today. She asked how long it would take me to get there and I said, I really had no idea but probably no more than 15 minutes since that seems to be the common distance. Brian rushed me over...then went home to put groceries away and wait for me to call to come get me. It was just me and Marion in the shop today. She has lived here for 4 weeks so we had lots to talk about. AND I :heartpumpred::heartpumppink: my hair. Of course, it will never look that way when I do it myself, but I'm still happy with it. I haven't had a regular hairdresser since I left Iowa 4 years ago. I am so excited. Brian came and picked me up and we went to a restaurant we hadn't tried yet and had a couple of appetizers and sat outside and overlooked the ocean. It was the best day.

Then I came home and took a nap!!! ;) I really do need to get my sleep schedule figured out. And YES, SIX more SLEEPS!!! Woo Hoo! Then my Sydney will be home!

@faerywings we are going to the beach for sunrise at least 50% of the mornings. And there have been a couple of days that we have been over there twice. Love it! And I love that pirate ship...I'm not at all sure that my family could cooperate with each other well enough to put it together!

@Cherylndesigns you really have kicked this party off with a couple of great challenges!!! I am determined to get the avi challenge and the OOB challenge done this weekend! If I can stay organized!

@vickyday I love the picture of your two husbands together...what a blessing to know that they were friends! I hope that your bike ride and dinner was a nice treat!

@taxed4ever I am so glad that you are having a good time at the reunion! It's funny how those memories take you back all of those years. My graduating class was 72 kids and most of us had gone to school together for all 13 years.

@bcgal00 I am so sorry to hear about your glaucoma getting so much worse so quickly. Hopefully the new meds will slow the progression. And I'm sorry about the reduction in coffee...but I'm sure that it will be worth it if it slows the progression. (I'm kind of a big :coffeedrinker: coffee drinker too!

Ok, I'm going to go check out the gallery for a bit. And see if I can't get another layout done! (And do a little bit of reading and then go to bed knowing that when I get up, I will only have 5 more sleeps. Obsessed...who me?? Maybe a bit.)

Good evening my Lovelies.

Boy are two back-to-back challenges keeping me hopping. I had originallysigned up for the Avatar challenge but somebody needed help at the last minute on another challenge and I took it and it was Day 1. Anyway, I have my skates on, so it's all good.

As you all know, Saturday is "girls' day" so that kind of put me behind the 8 ball. We cut it shorter than usual because I had a lot going on here, but I hated to cancel the whole thing. We just went to lunch then to a couple of boutiques - we weren't gone nearly as long as usual. We want to go back to Walmart tomorrow - I was glad Adrienne and Ava understood. I got pretty much caught up on the Avatar challenge before we left and did what I could on Challenge 1. Those layouts are flying into the gallery - this party is going to be a big success - it has certainly started off with a bang. It's nice to see some "old" faces and a few new ones.

Chris, @faerywings I love your OOB layout of Whiskey - how perfect to have the paws on top of the frame. LOVE it!! Linda @LSlycord I know you'll find time to do the Avi Challenge and Challenge 1. Just keep the Meme/Avi simple - use that link I posted, pick out a meme and add Happy Birthday. Keep It Simple - KISS. :floorlaugh:

Trudy @taxed4ever glad you're having a good weekend and yes, I'm getting quite a few giggles out of the Avatar Challenge. I just LOVE seeing them, and I was glad for the reference to your Meme/Avatar challenge from a few years ago. It's pretty simple if they use those templates. That's all I did, and it was easy peasy. Chris @faerywings I referenced your Avatar Challenge, too. It's always nice to have a format to look at.

I'm going to run I JUST posted my example LO in the BD gallery. In all the chaos, I totally forgot to post mine. Hahaha I THINK I'm all caught up for now.

Happy Saturday and Happy 17th Birthday Party Oscraps!!! That's over 100 years in dog years - even NOT in dog years, that's a long time in today's world. XOXO

I have the kind that they can't do anything for. I can feel for you and just wated you to know that. SO many people have both of these things and it's so frightening. :hug2::hug1:

Good morning ladies! :wavinghello:

We've been home from vacation for a week and have been working like mad in the garden, which looked terrible after the hot spell that is still going on. We cleaned, planted, watered - now it's actually time for vacation again... phew!
It was wonderful on Rügen! We did lots of sightseeing with our friends who visited us for 4 days over Pentecost. The rented house is big enough, so we are happy to invite guests. So funny, on the treetop walk, we spotted wooden arrows on the railing showing the distance of treetop walks around the world including from Laurentiedes (CA) 5908 km. I'm looking forward to scrapping some photos!
And now the birthday challenges!! + the monthly challenges - how and when should I do it?
I'm in a quandary! I want to enjoy the weather, but the great challenges also excite me so much! Especially since I once again spent a lot of money on new scrap kits!:lalala: Definitely remember for next year: Don't do shopping excesses at Oscraps until June for next Oscraps Birthday! :party1: There are such good discounts!!!

I am always happy when I discover you in the gallery. I still have to leave some love . I was in too much of a rush for the brief moments on Oscraps. I'll probably have to scrapp at night to spend time in the garden too. Really stupid situation. :holysheep:How do you manage this?

I haven't read all the news in this special issue. But

@bcgal00 I hope the new combo medication works and stops the eye disease!!! Get well soon Rae!!!
@faerywings good to read that your air is better again!! I've seen the horror stories on the news. Horrible!!
@vickyday Love your Avatar :rotfl: see you at the party! Let's celebrate :popcorn1::birthday2::party1:
@LSlycord Linda, what do you mean by "I will only have 5 more sleeps"?

I wish you a wonderful Sunday.

By the way - what does a OOB Layout mean? :please:

:please:

C u all at the Party :hug4:
@Su_Sanne You are back!!! :welcome2: And I see that you have found all of the wonderful emojis! OOB means Out of Bounds so when pieces of your picture go outside of the frame of the picture! And when I say 5 more sleeps, it means I have 5 more nights when I go to sleep before the big event. It sounds faster than 6 days. And you must tell me, where was the city where you worked? Sydney toured the VW plant two weeks ago and I wondered it it was the same place that you worked (before you retired)!

It's Day Two of the Party and I see Linda has an Enable Me Game posted.
Must. Stay. Away. :cuffed: The last thing I need to to get more stuff! LOL The LO I made yesterday was all from my stash so I was pretty happy about that. It's like scrounging through your fridge to find leftovers and throw something together to eat.

I didn't get to scrap all that much since we went with Caitlyn to an open house in town. The house was cute and teeny tiny, but IMO, workable except that it needed structural work. Lots of it. :(
When we got home, I spent hours outside and sneezed my head off for a lot of it. It's sooo dry and dusty - we desperately need rain. But I got the rhodo trimmed, at least what I could reach on the ladder. It's a monster, it has to be at least 8' tall. I am 5', on a ladder, using loppers, and couldn't reach the upper two feet. The azalea is done too.

My brother called this morning to give me an update on the wedding he was at yesterday. It was a vegan one and he was very impressed by the food- and that coming from a hardcore foodie carnivore  He sent some pics of the food and menu to pass along to Cait.
I'm not sure what I am doing today- it is cloudy but I don't think we are getting any rain until tomorrow. I might work a little more in the backyard. Might scrap. Might clean. Might do nothing.

Whatever you do, I hope its fun!! :hug4:

Good morning. Is everyone having fun at the birthday party?!!! I am!

I think that today will be a day to stay home and scrap. Thursday night, while I was reading, my mouth started bleeding...lots of blood. I couldn't see anywhere that I had cut my gum but I take a blood thinner to prevent afib and strokes and so when I bleed I really bleed. It stopped and everything seemed fine. Well, last night at about 3:30 I woke up with a mouth full of blood. I have it slowed down with gauze pads but not stopped. So tomorrow may be an emergency dentist visit. Ugh...

But it does give me a day to just hang out in the gallery and make layouts. And I'm so far behind on that...so I'm going to try to look at the bright side.

@LSlycord I am so happy for you too, less than a week until Syd is home. LMK when you start counting in hours :waiting:<~ you
Did you go to see the sunrise today?
You had a busy day running errands and such a nice surprise to get the hair appt. It makes such a difference getting your hair done by someone you like and trust. Bet you look mah-velous
Good morning my favorite O'ladies! Ooops...that sounds Irish and I don't think that I am an Irish fairy! :dancingbfly:But I am definitely a dancing fairy!
Twins!!!! ♥

@vickyday I hope that Ilene is able to find the papaya for you. If it's the same plan Gary used to have (through CVS) I don't think that was one of the supplements available. But it's not expensive and you should be able to find it at a grocery store or local pharmacy.
I would have such a hard time when/if the kids moved that far away. I guess you deal with it b/c it's not like there is always a choice. :(
Yippee!! Did you have a great time out?? :motorcycle1:
What a sweet photo of your two men. You are very lucky and so are they.

@bcgal00 Ohhhh no. :( I am really sorry that the glaucoma is progressing. Every good thought I have that the new meds work is coming your way :sparkles1: I wish I could help but I am thinking of you. :hug2:
That's so exciting that the hotels and flights are booked, makes it seem so much more real.

@taxed4ever What a wonderful time you must be having at your reunion. I am looking fwd to seeing the pics. If you didn't get any on your own, I hope that your friends will share with you.
I'd be doing a dance if it rained here too, maybe I'll be dance3 tomorrow
I didn't see TJ yesterday, but I did find a little hideyhole where I think he is burrowed in.

@Cherylndesigns I don't know how you find the time to squeeze everything you do into one day. i am happily shocked at how quickly the challenges/avatars are filling up in the gallery.I have been trying to stay on top of commenting and there's no way! :multitasking:

@Su_Sanne :cowwaving: Hey there!!

Your vacation sounds like it was wonderful and I am looking forward to seeing the photos. The designers have the best sales for the party. If you play games and scrap the challenges, you could win incredibly generous prizes.
That's the one drawback of the summer and the nice weather. I want to be outside but I want to scrap too.
OOB is out of bounds when a photo extends beyond the frame.

@tanteva Your  avatar cracks me up every time I see it. I usually have a hard time connecting the new avatars to the regular ones, but not with yours. :giggle4:
Sorry that your files are messed up, It wasn't me, I promise *G*

@LSlycord Linda, I worked in research and development at VW in Wolfsburg for the last 25 years. Before that I was in marketing, among other things. I hope your daughter takes a lot with her from her study trip and finds nice friends.

@faerywings Thanks a lot!
Yeah, Chris! That's exactly my problem too. So let's work on the challenges at night. Who needs sleep? We all need a lot of

@Su_Sanne that's where she was...in Wolfsburg! I can't believe that. She went halfway 'round the world and toured a place where my friend (you) used to work! What a teeny, tiny world it is. This weekend they went to Bonn, Cologne and Duisburg. They go back to Osnabruck tonight and a couple of projects to finish up and present. Then they have a couple of going away dinners. She has really enjoyed her time there. This is the picture she sent to me of her time at the VW plant.

Yes. Even Tim's mom told me that she thought Tim would approve of my marrying Mark!
The bike ride and dinner was great, even with a little mishap we had that I'll talk about in a separate post.

I'm not so sure but OScraps being so busy is not part of the problem with glitching. I don't seem to have problems anywhere else.

Anyway, quick in and out as I need to finish getting ready to leave for church.
I'll be back later today to give you a story about our bike ride yesterday. It was eventful! ;)
Have a great day! I'll be back for some more partying later.....
