CHEERY O
Guess who slept on today? I just could not get out of bed. I started waking up around 5:30 and then would fall back into dreaming, and didn't get up until 8. Dang! That is late, for me. I had some seriously wierd dreams including Scott stealing dresses and money from the mall, helping my BIL's HS best friend find a recipe for chicken Caesar salad, and going on some fair ride that went upside down in the dark. hahahah!!!!

Heat advisories all over NJ today- breaking 100* and I don't even want to think about humidity. Cait and her friend and I are going to hang at the lake for a bit if we can stand it. Other than that, I guess I'll be in the ac!

How are you all doing? Everyone in the US staying relatively cool?

Hugs!!!

Some personals from yesterday, bottom up!

Clara- I would feel so LOST!!!I guess the good part is that you will be busy with work and the coffee stand. But man, I would be missing those babies so much. :( Make sure you get lots of hugs from Derek. I know that I literally crave hugs/contact when my kids are away, and if Gary is making me crazy- I go to the dog!!!

You and Derek staring at each other reminds me of the few times Gary and I went out alone when the kids were little. we didn't know what to even talk about without them LOL
Hope your allergies calm down! You need a nice gentle rain to clear the air out and to cool it down.

Kristy- wow! Your yard and the pits look wonderful!!!! Bet you are going to have so much fun with it-do a lot of your friends play horseshoes? We have a set that we used to play around with but we haven't even dragged them out in years. If Gary saw that pic- he'd want to get digging right away. (Then he would look outside, realize how crappy he feels and then sit back down! Hahah!)
Enjoy the cooler weather and have fun at your party!

Trudy- those temps are seriously perfect- I could even go up to 85* very comfortably, but I hope that they stay like that all weekend! Boring life is kinda nice, if you ask me heh.
Gary ended up not going for his tests. Part of me was aggravated part of me understands. He stomach was in bad shape and the lab for the blood work is a half hour away and the hospital for the chest x-ray is about 5-10 minutes past that. So he had to cancel. He is going to get his blood drawn next week at the dr's lab in town-but then he has to pay a $15 fee just to have it drawn there. Insurance co's suck! But to get the results in soon, its worth the $. He isn't going to worry about the chest x-ray ATM. That is fine with me, let us deal with one issue at a time. :boom:
We watched The Whistleblower last night (in pj's on my comfy sofa!). It was about sex trafficking in Bosnia after the war in the 90's, based on a true story. After it was over, I said to Gary that we all might complain about stuff that the US does "wrong" but thank goodness we don't have to deal with that. (not that there isn't traficking in the US b/c there is-- but it is not to rampant and common and corrupt) Anyway, it was very dark, but really well done. And made me want to protect my kids even more!

I agree with you all about opening the blinds- my houseplants need light. my spider plant is turning a light green from lack of sun. Do you think fertilizer would help? I have fertizler for flowering plants but maybe it would work on those too?

nana- this makes me so mad!!!!!!! I would suggest that you see if your neighbors can make a stink somehow- maybe write to your newspaper, and the bad press might make them reconsider.
Homeowner's might be a way to go too, but that would have to depend on your deductible? Our is either $500 or $1000, can't remember and it wouldn't be worth it in raised premiums. Argh! Its such a scam!!!!

Deep cleansing breaths..............

(Don't you all like it so much better when I am quiet? :tape: )

I wish I could help you Nana- I hate having such close friend who live so far away
Hopefully the kids will settle back down for you once "life" is more "normal" whatever the heck that means.

and to end this on a good note- YUM!!! I love zucchini bread!!! But I haven't had any success with zuch plants either so I haven't had much in the way of excess zuch!

xoxoxoxoxo!!!!!
love and hugs to all!!!!

Morning to all... A beautiful sunny day with nice temps again for us. Supposed to get warmer tomorrow, but still don't think we will get what they are having out east. Not much to do today, some yard work, perhaps a nice walk with MG and then he gets his eyes tested today. Will have to drive him home as he will have those lovely drops that they put in your eyes, I hate those!! Talked to the neighbor about their yelping dog, had to listen to it again for hrs yesterday. Told them that there is a bi-law about that and that the neighbor behind them was not very impressed either. Hopefully they got the hint.

Chris - Looks like everyone is sleeping in today! You sure do have wild dreams! I find it amazing that you remember them so well. Too bad that Gary was not feeling well enough to have his tests done, but it will happen when it happens right? I had a dream last night also, Heather P and I are hoping to meet this summer in a little place called Coombs if all goes the way we plan. So I was dreaming about meeting her and having coffee at this little place there that is famous for the goats that they have on roof. In my dream we had nothing at all to talk about!! (like that would happen) Woke up all worried about our meeting. Silly I know!

Well I better get going and get MG and myself some breakfast and convince him to go for a nice walk with me this morning. Have a great weekend everyone

yeah we have a few friends that like to play so i am sure its gonna get used today! yay party time!! LOL today is Helenas birthday party (and my birthday)

It's been a crazy week. At least for me who usually sits at home and meet nobody but family LOL There's been meeting about DS, dr & nurse appointments for me, in-laws visiting, and a road trip with my girlfriends today. I'm dead tired LOL

Here's the link to the place we visited today: http://www.hildasholm.org/en FANTASTIC gardens ... got tons of fantastic photos. I need to scrap!!!

Edit: those of you in London can visit the same family's house in London :)

super hot here too this week! Ugh I hate the heat. Did manage to go on a great bike ride though, which makes me happy!

Happy Birthday Kristy!! YOur horseshoe pits look great. I have been scrapping to avoid the heat. We worked hard at dance. I bought two used dresses with lots of gems on them- feel like they weigh an extra 5 pounds- they are for wearing at special performances. One is for rhythm dances (chacha, hustle, swing and rumba). The other is for smooth dances (waltz, viennese waltz and fox trot). One of these days I will have to take pics.

104 here today...heat index 110 - 115!!

Parents got power back last night...they lacked 15 minutes of being a full 7 days...and never complained a bit....WTH?? I whined like a baby all week...and mine was out only 4 days...seemed like a damn month though :tape2:

I wanted to scrap today...Mom did come get the kids for me today..she knew my nerves were totally shot....but I didn't get to scrap anything...I was up for the upcoming collab preview..and it takes me hours to do those...but I have to say...you ladies are in for a treat with the next one!! FUN!!!!

Going to be soon...so I can get up to enjoy some more heat tomorrow.....hormones are not my friend in this heat either..makes me much more bitchy!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear ya nana linda!! My menopausal self does not do well in the heat, hubby keeps telling me its not that hot, but what I wouldn't do to have him live in my body just one day!!! I hate men!!! LOL!

helloooooo my friends! I got up a bit earlier today. I still had some bizzarro dreams (going on vacation with all of my cousins with whom I do not speak, being desperate to find a sweatshirt for an outdoor concert that was disappointing because the band didn't let anyone near the stage, you know normal stuff this time around) but slept better last night.
Our horrible heat wave never appeared, thankfully. It was hot, but not like they were predicting. We didn't get any rain either, which isn't good. Scott's friend jen came over and she and cait asked if we had water guns. I offered to drive them to the dollar store and they got water guns, silly string and glitter/confetti. Then they dive-bombed him. he face was priceless!! I now have shiny glitter pieces all over the house, they vacuum up easily but they also stick to the bottoms of your feet!! I wish I had my camera- it was hysterical! Jen said that her mom would not have been amused. Maybe I am totally wacked, but its all washable/cleanable and safe.... let the kids laugh and have some fun, right? Its like when the kids were little. A messy kid is a happy kid and no one ever died from dirt. Life is way to short to worry about that kind of stuff yannow?

(I still wish I had a photo of it all!!!)

Not sure what I am doing today- weather looks nice so I might go to the beach myself for a bit. Then we are supposed to be meeting up with our neighbors for pizza and drinks. Tomorrow my dad is having cataract surgery and my brother is in a PANIC! I have spoken to my mom and to my dad and they have it all covered, but my brother thinks I need to go down and sit with my dad. If any of this sounds familiar, I went through this when my dad had carpal tunnel surgery back in January. After talking to my brother, I had to talk to my dad again, to make sure they weren't "protecting me" by saying that they don't need me down. Now my dad is aggravated at my brother for getting all riled up and worried. He is looking forward to getting home after the surgery and dozing in his chair!!!
I adore my brother, but as I said to my dad, he makes my mom look sane!!! :pound:

I'd better shut up, cuz as soon as I am done here, I have to get brownies into the oven for tonight.

hugs!

Happy Birthday Kristy!!!!!

I didn't know it was your birthday yesterday, but I hope you had a fun one and a great party!! Did the pits get good use?

Nana and Trudy- my peri-menopausal self has been "good" in the heat so far, I still need to be wrapped in blankets when we watch tv at night and the ac is on.
Nana, great news about your parents electric!!! Ugh about not scrapping but I bet the preview is amazing as always!!!!

Laurie- how fun to "dress up" when you dance. Love it!!

Heather- hi there!!!

Phyllis- did you survive the picnic??

Eva- I was wondering where you were! How did the drs appt for your DS go? Any progress for him? Can't wait to see your pages!

Chris. i want to be reincarnated as a kid of YOURS! and, yeah, i barely survived the picnic. we left after about 2 1/2 hours. it was a combination of the 100 degrees and the people. it was my BIL's family, mostly, and hubby and i are pretty much the total opposites in personality from them, so conversation flows like mud. Eva, Jesus never showed up to save me, so i took matters into my own hands, made our excuses, and drove away.

Laurie, i want to see your sparklies!!

I hate men!!! !
haHAAAA!!!! good one, Trudy! i'm thinking that Hubby and i will be fighting the Temp Wars today, because it's "only" supposed to get up to 87 degrees, and he's going to be expecting that i'm going to be turning off my weeny little AC. i think this is unlikely to happen.

NanaL, i can't even imagine being without power for as long as you and your parents had been. it's like a nightmare just THINKING about it. i'm glad you got a day off from the kiddos. always nice to be able to take a big, deep breath. hoping you're able to engineer many more of those kinds of days soon.

today. humm.... probably have the AC fight with Hubby. do some ironing. hit the grocery store for an avocado and some bacon for the Cobb salad i'm planning for dinner later today. maybe a little staring at the computer screen, trying to invite my scrapping mojo to reappear.

enjoy the rest of your weekend, everybody! Kristy, i hope your birthday was the best!

Good morning ladies! How did I miss being here yesterday?

Another 100+ degree yesterday. Phylis, I think that you are a very brave woman to even consider it.

Chris, I pretty much agree with your philosophy on the kids. Which reminds me why I wasn't here yesterday. The kids have now had all of the chairs for two days in tents in the living room. I slept on the sofa for the campout! Insane.

Syd had soccer practice in the morning. Has it at 4 this afternoon...but supposed to only be low 90's. They have two games on Friday and two on Saturday...hoping that it will only be low 90's...or even upper 80's. That would be sooooo great!

Be back later...need to get some time in the gallery or I won't make my July goal!

P- I will adopt you as my kid if you promise to make me cobb salad!! YUM!!!

Linda- I loved doing camp outs with the kids!!! We used to do these "Theme Nights." We'd put all of these themes (Cowboy Night, Alien Night etc) in a jar. On Monday we'd pick one out and we'd plan a menu, decorations we'd make and pick a movie or activity and we would do it as a family on Friday or Saturday. My kids still talk about it!
*bittersweet sigh* I miss those days.....

Linda, I need to add that you are doing a super job as mom too- I know ity isn't always easy, but like I said up there, my kids still remember that and it think that you are laying a strong foundation for them as they get older. Do they bite me in the butt sometimes? Yes! And who knows what the future will bring.... but keep doing these things with them, you all will treasure it!

lol we didnt use the pits at all.....a few of us stayed in the house while others sat in front of the mister LOL it was pretty hot out yesterday....but thats okay they will get used eventually LOL

Just got off the phone with Verizon....our internet has been an issue for months and months now...I have called several times before...it goes out intermittently..sometimes for a minute...sometimes for 5 minutes..sometimes for an hour....it's a PIA!! after another long hour or so on the phone with Verizon, they are finally going to send someone out here tomorrow....

Doing mountains of laundry today.... WHEN WHEN WHEN will the everhandy washer that sorts, washes, dries and folds clothes be invented?? Yeah...I know..her name is MOM aka NANA!!!! LET ME MOP FLOORS...it's done in 20-30 minutes!!! Do you ladies have the same problem I do with laundry?? I sort it and start..forget to go back downstairs for hours, and then don't get it finished in one day?? I guess if your washer/dryer are in close proximity to your main living area, it's not such a big deal..but mine is downstairs in the ..... yes......THE LAUNDRY ROOM!!! in the basement. I want mine to be right in the middle of the living room!! :pound: just set the TV right on top of it!!! :pound:

Haaa, Nana Linda, I am the same way with the laundry!! I started laundry two days ago and just finished this morning  When the kids were home I used to have a poster of Tom Selleck in my laundry room, that helped me get it done sooner!!! :becky:

:hurt:

Yep there was a time when ole Tom would have done it...but now a days...maybe
Alex?? :flame:
