Hello Darling Ooos!
Please don't hate me today because I feel like I have PMS. Crabby, achy, and mentally itchy. Do you ever feel like your brain is scratchy? Like there is a clothing tag, rubbing away at your brain? YKWIM?
There's no reason why I feel like this, I just am. I think it's simply low-level stress and anxiety getting to me.

(This is my Grammarly icon for the text I wrote 1721473991439.png Sums it up pretty well, dontcha think?LOL!!)

My knee was only hurting a little bit after I cleaned for my friend. I did some weeding in the backyard after lunch. That was the first time in weeks and everything is so overgrown. It looks a lot better now and hopefully tomorrow I can get to the front yard. My tiger lilies are more brown than green and need to be thinned a little and get all of the scraggly pieces out. It looks like my milkweed is getting seed pods this year, yipppeee! I started them from a seed pod, but they didn't produce any since they grew, only spreading through the roots. If I get pods, I can plant them on the side of the yard. Next year I'll move the ones in the front of the garden and not worry if I kill them. They are >6' tall at this point and crowding the coneflowers that are behind them.
I saw a gorgeous yellow and black butterfly on them yesterday but it flew off before I could snap a photo. I think it was a swallowtail, I saw them a lot last year but I didn't notice the blue dots on the wings on this one.

I have the dress fitting today at 12.30 with my mom. I was going to try to get to the food pantry before I went down but she reminded me that the parking in the center of her town is awful on the weekend. I might have been able to make it in time but decided it was going to be too stressful to rush around like that. Since I have a little extra time, I might hit DSW at the mall on the way to pick my mom up. If I leave an hour earlier, I should have plenty of time to get to the mall, check out some shoes, and then grab her and my dress to get to the shop on time. I swear, I would much rather be hanging out in my messy gardens.

On that note, may you all have a wonderful and stress-free weekend!

@BrightEyes Wow, your temps dropped quite a bit too, isn't the fresh air amazing? We didn't put the AC on at all yesterday, at least not downstairs. I only did two of the regular challenges this month, my scrap mojo is still struggling along.
You and your sister are going to have a wonderful time scanning photos and enjoying the memories. Don't forget to build in some stretching breaks so you don't get stiff.
[my goodness I am bossy, sorry!]

@vickyday So happy that you got some rain and cooler temps too.
I'll try that -- highlight the quote and then insert it. I was clicking +Quote on the entire post and that was just way too much :D

Going to Ilene's today
yes!!!!!! That worked!!! Thanks for letting me know you didn't have to insert the entire post. So much easier! Hope you had a great time with Ilene.
You are lucky that you can chat about your daughter's wedding, I did not get that with Heather, her and Jonah will never marry, so we will never be able to make plans
How awesome that you have a "refill" store near you. I hear adverts for Blueland (refill tablets) and I would love to reduce the plastics we use.
That's how I feel about g-kids. I know I'm not getting any of them. I understand it and I respect the decision but grand rats aren't exactly the same at kids. Which reminds me-- I have to check on my grand-rats this morning since Cait and Tom are away :D
We can stick together :protest: when Ona yells at us for not being productive Cheery O's Hahaha! ( I know she would never yell at us but still :p)

but the scanner doesn't work with Win11!!!
That's what happened with my old scanner too. Upgrades and updates -- ugh!
Your recipe looks yummy!
Well I have done a lot of different styles but no, never with my hand behind......... oh wait yeah I have. Toddler phase and handing back snacks and drinks. :giggle4:
tee-hee!! I guess we all have done a variation of that! LOL
32 years! That's awesome!
Thanks for the book rec! BFF and I were talking about Kristin Hannah too. My BFFATS (across the street) always rec's her to me. I read The Great Alone-- where almost all of my AK "knowledge" comes from LOL- I feel like I have read something else by her too, but they all seem to run together in my head.
It was cooler here, too, in the 70s this morning, although the humidity is still high.
Good to hear its at least a little bit cooler. I hope the Technu did the trick. When I used that, it seemed hit or miss but I think I wasn't getting the oils washed off soon enough.
Hope you had a nice time reading your book.

@mimes1 Hiiiii!!!!! How is the job going? Are you getting more settled in and have your routine set?
Too cute about the mama and baby deer, I bet they loved the watermelon. I hope you can get some pictures of them if they come back.
Bejeweled flip flops sound ah-mazing, but I am so short that I need some height to pull off my dress. Not to mention BFF will kick my butt if I did that! (She can be scary! :holysheep: )

It was hot here and after a few early morning hours birding at the lake
I saw the heron photo on FB, what an incredible shot! You live in such a beautiful area with the wildlife.

Big hugs to everyone who pops in today!

Good Morning!
We actually have some mud!!! WOOHOO! And it looks like it will rain some more today! Mark and I went to breakfast and it was misty then. And the clouds are hanging low and full!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I have the dress fitting today at 12.30 with my mom.
Take pictures!
yes!!!!!! That worked!!!
I'm so glad! It is so much easier to highlight what you want to comment on as you read all of the posts! Hope you have a great time with your mom today!
And, yes! Had a great time with Ilene yesterday as usual!

Morning, all. Slept in until 7AM this morning. Up and dressed already and enjoying my cup of coffee. Temp is climbing fast this morning... went from 69* to 75* in less than an hour! We have been having thunder/lightening with rain every evening... the monsoon is in full swing right now. We need the rain but hate that it causes flooding in the burn-scar areas of the state.

Heard from DD#2 last evening.... surgery on Son-in-law was on Thursday and went well. So glad it wasn't on Friday with so many hospitals postponing surgeries due to the cyber problem. He may be dismissed early next week.

Yes, I did get the rest of my clothes washed and put away yesterday... even got a load of towels done. Stripped the bed and the sheets are in washing now. Decided I am going to change out the comforter on my bed. The one that was on it is too heavy/warm. I have another one that is lighter... just need to pull it out.

HI Everyone,
We had more rain last night, and the grass is actually starting to look green again!
Today we're going to see Twister. We've heard very good things about it, and Belle is in town for the weekend so we're going to lunch and a movie!

How is the job going? Are you getting more settled in and have your routine set?
The job is going great. I know more at the end of this week than I did last week, being more independent know that more of the tasks have been assigned. The environment is excellent, the people very nice and gracious with the learning curve. The hours not stressful at all. The deer were here this morning and they ate all the watermelon. The baby was back too so I'll upload that picture in a second.

Waiting for the coffee to finish so I can chug it down.

I read The Great Alone-- where almost all of my AK "knowledge" comes from
That was an amazing book!!! And the best part is she didn't get the town wrong! She did a great job telling it like it really was.

@mimes1 I love the deer photos Amy! They're so pretty. In SD all we see are the White Tail and they are grey. So its fun to see the brown version.

Fishing yesterday was amazing but now all I smell is fish. That is the hardest smell to remove from a person. I am also starting the day with 1 spoon. Was worth every second on the water and the fun we had. Thankful my job isn't taxing and I can mostly just sit today and do nothing.

Soon there will be layouts with fish. AK subsistence style fishing, not a rod n reel. Its my favorite way to fish and the only time I can catch more then my hubby. Yes its cause he has to drive the boat and not fish but I still take the win.:floorlaugh:

Have a wonderful day!

Morning ladies... another busy weekend for us and we are heading out right after DH waters the flowers in the front yard. He wanted to get that job done before the heat hits again today. Warm temps today again and not a cloud in the sky. Still waiting for some of you to send the rain this way :waiting:. I started on a layout yesterday, but I am really struggling with it and might have to start all over again. Not sure where my mojo has gone, but if you see it would you send it back to me please?? MIL gave me a whole mess of old music magazines yesterday, so many cool old advertisement's in the them and the pages are all discoloured, perfect for junk journaling they are from the 1940's but there are too many of them for me to keep them all. So I am dropping off half of them to my hairdresser this morning. Her mother is really into junk journaling so I thought she might like to have them. My hairdresser said she would be thrilled and thanked me very much! Nice to share and not see them go in the recycle bin. Anyway my Gary is ready to go, so I will try to pop in later on this weekend. Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!! @faerywings I want to see photos please!! :waving1

Good afternoon ladies. I was busy early morning, out to the park with Remi just after 8. I have to go early b/c by 9:00 its too hot for her to run around. Then came home to check out trip excursions. It is a long process b/c I check what the cruise ship offers, then check 3 other companies I use and then have to keep reading back and forth to see what suits us and pricing. Took a break and went downtown to the Taste of Okotoks for lunch. It is an outdoor street fair with local vendors for food and merchandise. I got a deep fried chicken pocket that was so good and many people stopped us to ask what I thought of it. Also got a sour cherry vegan dairy-free milkshake. I sampled 4 different chai teas that we so good, my fave was one with fennel (who would have thought that would be good in tea?). Then came home and got excursions all booked except for Boston which I think we can do on our own.

Will have a buddah bowl for dinner and settle in to catch up on House of the Dragon. Tomorrow I am home after the dog park in the morning so will get some chores done around here.

Well, well, well. I bought more shoes in the past 7 days than I have in my entire lifetime!
(total fabrication: I used to work in a shoe store when I was in HS/college and I think my paycheck went 99% towards shoe purchases)
However, I bought more pairs of shoes than I have in the past 10 years. That's much closer to the truth. Six pairs of shoes and I am only keeping one. This is the :wehaveawinner:

It's got a decent heel but I remember Cait always telling me that platforms are the way to go. I can walk in these with no pressure on my joints and a grippy sole. My mom and I have our final fitting and pick-up on Aug 6.
That was a big thing I crossed off of my list. Next up is the (lack of a) rehearsal and dinner. The venue is booked the day before the wedding and the officiant and best man aren't flying in until the 11th. Caitlyn is thinking that we'll do a quick run-through at my house and maybe order some food here. Have any of you done that? The rehearsal part? The food bit I can do. LOL

It is supposed to be a beautiful day so once I get my food shopping/menu planned for the week, I am going to get outside in the gardens. Please let that be what I need for a brain reset. I hate it when my mood is like this. I am working at Weis tomorrow so my knee better be in good shape. In other words, Faery- don't mess it up.

Big hugs all around!

Today we're going to see Twister.
The job is going great.
What did you think of the movie? I am so happy that the job is good and not stressful. That is important.
What a fab photo of the deer, love the little one!
And the best part is she didn't get the town wrong! She did a great job telling it like it really was.
No kidding?! That's pretty cool. Did KH ever live in Alaska? I have to say that is not a place I could survive in. Way too much wilderness and isolation I could ever cope with.
Hope you were able to rest and build up your Spoon Brigade again. What is subsistence-style fishing and how is it different than "regular?"

@taxed4ever If I find your mojo whenever I find mine, I'll grab it and send it back to you. I think my yucky mood is killing any feeling of creativity I had. Forget about any motivation too. I can't even complain about not having photos- I only scrapped one out of all of the shower pics. :(
That's so neat about getting old magazines for your junk journaling! Have fun!
went downtown to the Taste of Okotoks for lunch. It is an outdoor street fair with local vendors for food and merchandise.
How neat!
What excursions are you looking at on the cruise?
Fennel in general is blech- not sure if it's worse than ketchup...
Oops. I'd better not start another food fight here. :censored:
Good luck getting the chores done today.

Hugs to everyone!

It's been a busy weekend & I've got nothing to show to prove it. Well, we went on a day trip on Friday, and I got some lovely photos to scrap. At least I hope so ... haven't downloaded them from the camera yet.

Started organizing my knitting & crochet patterns yesterday. Why do I do these things to myself? Got a total ADHD brain crash, and had to sit down and meditate while I forced Urban to go and get takeaway for dinner. Too many piles, and too much chaos to process. I'm not 100% done with the organizing - but like 85% maybe. Everything's sorted, but I need to put a huge pile into their folders.

It's making me a bit sad. I see so much I've printed out with the intention to make it. And I haven't really been able to knit or crochet for a year. I can do the odd row here and there, but it's always leads to me having pain. It feels like I've lost my creative yoga.

Urban's going back to work tomorrow, the vacation is officially over. My plan for tomorrow is to remove all my knitting and crochet stuff from the living room, up to the "craft room" - can't really call it a craft room anymore, it's a total mess. I should have done it a long time ago - it just sits there taunting me. Getting it out of sight will maybe get me less sad.

On a positive note: I've found me a new TV show that I really love. Got hooked from the first episode. Only seen first season so far, but I love it. I'm probably the last in the world to see it, it's Call The Midwife. Sorry, you sweet fellow Americans - but the Brits make the best TV. We signed up for a whole year of BritBox, and boy do I love it! Urban and I have been watching the entire Inspector Morse together, and now I'm watching the midwife on my own.

Good morning lovely ladies. I woke up refreshed and am ready for my day lazing around since I have a broken leg. Fell twice in one night while on holiday in Maine. Knocked myself out the second fall, and broke my Fibula. 4th July this year will be memorable for sure. I was in a half cast for a week, had to fly home with 2 stopovers… painfully wheeled around in a wheelchair. Went to my Ortho doctor who put the fancy (not fancy) boot on me and gave me crutches. It looks like I’ve been beaten up with all my bruises, even my head. So I guess I have time to scrap and ignore house chores for a while.

Yesterday afternoon was busy... I ended up going through a bunch of photo boxes and found a lot of photos that I really should get into albums. Some were professional photos from 2 of my kids weddings. So I need to decide what album type I want to use for them. Also found a bunch more photos of our mom and dad's 50th anniversary. Ended up scanning them and stored on the ExHD in a different folder so we will know which ones my sister doesn't have yet. Now I need to ID who is in the photos. Yes, I have to use DH's old computer as my new computer won't connect to the scanner! And his old computer is as S-L-O-W as molasses (compared to my new one). So today's goal is to go through the albums to see if I have any photos that should be in the wedding/anniversary albums.. or any of them that need to be scanned in.

I am a happy camper... the high today is only suppose to get to 83*F!!! And stay in the low 80's until Friday!!! Woo-whee. But there are flood watches for much of the state during that time... Yes, it will rain every afternoon but think our area will be okay.

Need more coffee... be back later.

Yikes! My dr said it could take 3 months because of my age. Worst part was knocking myself out, and a CT scan to ensure I had no brain bleed.

Kay, you have the best pictures and now you find more! How fun and now you get to scan them all and organize them. Lucky you! I'm still missing SO many of my pictures. I've resigned myself to the fact that they got lost in our last move out here. We lost several things - the movers didn't even bring. Like our really expensive sweeper and our big safe are two of the things I can think of off the top of my head. The safe was empty, but still..........................

Have fun!

Well, its not a rod n reel, its a 5' diameter net and you scoop them up. Its just for Alaskans and its to fill the freezer, not sport. So the limit is much higher. The handle of the net is 5' for longer depending if your land or boat. You wait for the fish to "slam" into the net then pull them out. Its such a hoot and fun.
As for KH no she didn't live here but she knew someone who did and used their knowledge. And you could so survive here. You're only isolated if you want to be. Right now our state had doubled in size (people) because of world class fishing. Ready for July to be over so people go home but not ready for summer to start winding down.
I hope we see layouts of you
I promise. You will be sick of my fish layouts. But maybe not, hubs didn't take near the photos I told him to. He took three.

the high today is only suppose to get to 83*F
This is wonderful that youre cooling off. Yesterday we were HOT and got up to 77-80 depending on where you were. Its suppose to be a touch cooler today, 75 so we shall see.
