hey all... about to head to bed, but wanted to pop in and say hello... my mom and sister came by for a bit on their way home from my aunt's house in Ohio... then we just hung out here... tomorrow I have to run to staples and pick up some much needed office supplies since there's no budget for that at my office... at least its tax deductible... and I'm gonna take either Will's or Piper's school supply list and get started on that...
now... I don't know what other schools make kids supply, but here's the combined list for both Will and Piper... 4 - 24 ct boxes of pencils, 1 bottle of white glue, 22 glue sticks, 2 - 24 ct boxes of crayons, 2 boxes of markers, 1 purple handled pair of friskars scissors, 5 boxes of Kleenex, 3 rolls of paper towels, 2 packs of loose leaf paper, 2 containers of baby wipes, 2 spiral notebooks, 2 boxes gallon size ziploc bags, 1 box qt size ziploc bags, 1 box snack size ziploc bags, 5 different composition notebooks, 5 folders, 1 ruler, pencil top erasers, rectangular pink eraser, 2 pens, highlighters, 2 bottles of hand sanitizer, and another pair of scissors...
my question is this: if each student brings in 4 boxes of 24 ct pencils estimating a class size of 25, what the heck is the class going to do with 2400 pencils? And while I am glad to donate when I can - why should I provide school supplies for children other than my own? this is my big pet peeve with the supply list... that I'm providing for other children... I really don't mind doing that if I've got extra... but I don't like being required to buy all this extra stuff when my children won't use a large majority of what's on the list...
okay sorry, didn't mean to get off on a tangent... was looking at the list and it just ticked me off LOL... I'm off to bed now!
