We still have another week of summer, dammit! Why is it so cold? 47*!
I have a big old sweatshirt and fuzzy socks on this morning. (I should admit, that i wear the same in the summer when MMG has the AC on).

Glad everyone enjoyed the coffee- I have another pot on if ya want. Its not as good as nina's.... but hopefully soon, she will come back to us. *fingers crossed that her "real life" calms down and she starts designing again soon. She makes the loveliest stuff.

Did you enjoy your day off Laurie? Sounds like it was a busy one, but fun.

Amber- May and Sept are my big b-day months, Caitlyn's b-day is 21, MIL is 28, FIL and SIL the 29th and niece is Oct 5. I am the family all up on Sat for Caitlyn who thankfully doesn't want big "friend-parties" any more. Then down to the IL's on Oct 1 to celebrate everyone else's.

I do that to- stick my head in the sand. But I also live for my To-Do list. I know if its not on my list it won't get done cuz I'll forget all about it.

Good idea to bring a camera to the bus stop- but I am lucky if I remember to bring my kids with me hahahahahah! I do have some good shot of them in my back yard.

Katherine- hope you got all of your housework done quickly. Enjoy your days off!!

lOve the O!
Morning Chris- and everyone. Although it was busy, it was fun to be able at the end to shop and not have a time frame I had to be home by. I did enjoy Chipotle- but next time would have to force myself to just eat half. I even took metal salvage- old wall heaters, brackets for hanging tv's on the wall - the old type to the recycle place and got $8- that was a first as well- did I have my camera- no. But I had money for lunch and less junk in my garage. Today- work day and start of the weekend. It is cold here too Chris, I found frost on top of the hot tub when I let the dog out this morning- I am wearing my fuzzy jacket over my nightwear. I like to play a game in the fall to see if I can wait until mid October before I turn the heat on. We shall see. It is 43 on my porch this morning. I need to go upload some layouts in the gallery.

Sorry for the short post- crazy kitty is allover me again and I tried to copy it and it got stuck and I didn't want to lose it all.

Frani- I hear ya on the couch potato! Have your tried Vit. b-12? When I can't have any more caffeine, I take b-12's to give me a little boost of energy.

Phyllis- I am with you on the weather!!! Yuck!!
Hope that the painting is almost done for you. Be careful moving that furniture.

nana!!!! how I have missed you! Fantastic news about Traci, my fingers/toes/eyes all crossed that she continues to move forward.
You are so Glinda.... don't even think about the WWoftheW!

Maureen- *eye rolls at the workers* Hope you were successful at Michael's.

Trudy- I think YMG needs to give you a good back rub. if you are allowed to wear sneakers at work, I swear by the Sketcher Shape ups. I don't wear them for toning my butt (It would be nice if they worked for that, however) but they help my back and knees a lot.

Sally- Idle hands?? You??? Never!!! LOL

Phyllis- Priorities, ya know.... Scrap over Furniture moving any day....

Kristy- ugh-- the toilet situation sticks. (ok, that was Baaad! :sheep: )
What brand of chai did you get? I love chai but the tea bags usually taste like tea flavored with spice-- not the same as you get in a coffee shop for sure.
Oh DUH! I see, Pacific Chai. I am going to have to look for it here.

Laurie- Great news about your dr. w/ your weight although I am sure you didn't gain that much, you are so good about exercising. Any news on the foot?

Merkee!! hey there Lady!!!!! How have you been? So glad you stopped in. You have to do that more often!!!

Fiona- feel better! Hope that YMG took good care of you.

Maureen  You are too funny! Think sexist remarks away!

Terra- I hope when you feel off of your chair, you weren't finishing off tasting all of those wines from the wine list! Sounds like a fun time :)

Tracy- Pop in and say hi whenever you can- doesn't matter what day it is. You should hook up with Jean/Scrap-Genie- she does genealogy too. Hope that the kids didn't tie you up!

Clara- have fun with your mom!!!!!

K-BAMM!!!! I have been worried about you. I see your statuses (statii?) on FB and I hope that you are ok. I see that your BFF is there for ya and that makes me happy. If you ever need to talk, PM me, OK? Hugs to you and Baby Bamm!

OK- gotta run!

Finish It Friday.......
ugh- too much on the To-Do list to mention ;)

always chatty at the O!!
Good morning laides. Just finishing getting ready to send Ethan off to the bus. Derek has done it the past couple of days, which seems like it would be helpful...BUT him and Ethan are so freaking loud in the morning everyone is awake by the time Ethan leaves for school regardless. It sucks.

So, today my mom is going to help me get stuff organized. Yay!! So many things are missing because Derek would "clean up" because someone was coming over but his version of cleaning is hiding and stashing everything he doesn't want to look at...so now things I knew where they were are in some strange place they don't go...and of course he doesn't remember where that strange place is because he doesn't even remember toucking them. UGH!!! I still need to find Addie's ballet shoes. I do not want to buy new ones. That would stink.

Derek is off near Wilmington fishing with his brother. It was fun to see his brother. He is such a mess though. He was in Somalia many years ago when everything went down and it really messed him up...he was a ranger/sniper type. So now he has major PTSD with paranoia issues and what not. He lives on top of a mountain in AK beyond the power lines with his little family just doing his thing and it works for him somewhat...but he still has issues. I am just so grateful that he finally went to the VA to get care and they are truly taking care of him now. Derek has been bugging him to take care of it for years but he only did it in the past year or two. I am so glad.

Well, I'm going to go hop back into bed until Addie wakes up. I'll hop in for personals later if I can...

Linda and Kayleigh...so glad to see you guys in here. Makes me happy to see your smiling faces.

Well it's blissfully cool here. Yes, my dh would call it cold - it's 65 downstairs and that's not cold! - however, I will admit, my toes are cold. That's as far as I'll go. today is my "Don't scrap, clean up the studio day." Sigh but you know how that goes. When I can't stand my own mess, it's time.

Chris, sounds like birthday city round your way. Stock up on those candles!

Laurie, never heard of a place to sell such salvage, but then I don't have any either! Free lunch money is always nice, isn't it.

Phylis, I told dh when we got married - 10 yrs ago - that he'd have to tweeze my chin hairs when I went into 'the home'. Geesh, he couldn't see to do it now! You remind me to get some new Nair stuff, or whatever the brand is these days.

re dinner? I'm taking fish oil capsules now and they have almost killed my interest in food. Weird. However, a quick meal is Greek kebobs. Mostly you need boneless chicken breasts. The rest is mainly olive oil, lemon juice and bottled will do, and oregano. I'll post the exact recipe later. Rice, white or brown but brown is better for you, and a green veggie. I like spinach, and frozen is fine if you're not into all the washing. I'm not. Maybe saute an onion for that spinach.

Clara, I used to do military/VA cases for a US Senator. I don't need telling you the things we expect our military to endure and then toss them peanuts for salary and benefits. I'm so glad to hear Derek's brother is getting some help. God knows he deserves it.

Ok, back with a full recipe later my loves.

Good Morning All!

Faded on the couch before 8pm, I was soooo tired. But I woke up at 3am this morning .....urghhhhh, I hate getting old and not being able to sleep in.

I haven't tried the B12, does it perk you up?

Will get ready for work soon, but it's Friday.....yeeeeeeeeah! So I get to play soon.

Ok here's the recipe on my blog. (I keep some recipes stuck back at the beginning since I never made a sep recipe "page" because I didn't know any better back then....)
There's a nice photo too! not mine but that's where I got the idea of shooting photos of my food. btw, AnnT has that wonderful Vancouver northern light.

Chicken Souvlaki

Chicken breasts
Fresh minced garlic(personally I don't think powdered cuts it but if it's all you have, go for it. Try fresh garlic sometime though, Please!)

dried oregano
lemons
olive oil
Salt
Pepper

Cut chicken breasts into 1 inch cubes (MMR notes - cut the thinner bits off and use for a chicken curry or bits in a chicken soup)

Place on wooden Skewers that have been soaked in water (prevents sticks from burning) or on metal skewers.

Rub with fresh minced garlic and dried oregano

Squeese fresh lemons over chicken and some olive oil
Salt and pepper

Marinate for up to 1 hour. If marinating longer do not add lemon juice
until the last hour. Lemon juice "cooks" the flesh and changes the texture.

Place on hot grill and turn often until done. Serve with Greek salad and
rice. (MMR notes:Ann was never much for vegetables...) :frown:

NOTE: This recipe works well with Pork (I use Pork Tenderloin) and with Lamb

thanks for the recipe Maureen. no matter what i make each night someone says "that again!" going to give this a whirl!

going to try to get my O to school on time today. she is convinced that the school day hours are manufactured by adults for the convenience of adults alone. children, in her opinion, need more sleep and learn better later in the day. she's thinking maybe 10:30 am would work for her. so far, the school's not in agreement.

got to work and fold laundry. my washing skills are top notch :) ... love folding, but haven't found much time for it lately. kids are getting a little tire of "go to the mountain" and similar comments in response to "where is my ..."

have a great day ladies!

Morning, girlies!! I've posted my list on Facebook today, and yep, it involves quilting, of course!!

It's supposed to be a bit cooler here (ie...90s instead of 100s), so we'll see how i react to that.

Adryane, my four children are all still asleep...this is one reason why I homeschool, because I believe the school day hours were manufactured by early bird adults, not musician-type artists like myself and apparently my four kids! LOL!!! We actually have done a lot better getting up since school started!! And the "mountain"? Are you peeking into my bedroom???? It's more like Everest in there!!! Some day I'll fold them....someday!! have a great day!

Maureen!! That recipe looks divine!!! Thanks so much for sharing!! And yuck on the fish oil pills!!! I actually tried them, even though I don't eat seafood...I couldn't manage them at all...I think I'm allergic to anything that lives in water...

Frani, OHhhh B12 works wonders for me!! It's almost as bad as caffeine...or should I say, as good as...!! Enjoy!!

Clara, enjoy this organizing time with your mom!! I'm hoping to start organizing room by room again. It's such a process, isn't it!!

Phyllis, ohhhh waxing is my best friend...well, not on my face but the bottom half of my legs. Is that too much information?? If I lived up north, you would never ever see my legs!! Have a great day!!!

Chris, I always love picturing you in your fuzzy socks!! I'm thinking the dry heat would kill ya down here...coolness still seems like a far off dream!!

Hugs to everyone!!! Have a stunning Friday!! I'm off to a friend's house to use her big die cut to cut out little Christmas stockings this morning. I'll probably listen to Christmas music the whole way! LOL!!

love you all!

Hi everyone. Looks like you have busy days ahead of you. For the 5th day in a row I plan to clean/tidy up our mudroom. But I also plan to do some designing and maybe scrapbook back to school pictures for at least ONE of my 3 kids. And then it's off to buy a birthday present for my daughters friend and run some errands. :juggle:
