Woot! TGIF!!!

Are all of my Southeastern Friends getting prepped for the Blizzard?
Linda W- you can come up to visit me any time this winter if you want to get away from the snow. ;)
Its crazy... we are going to get (so they say) 1-3" that's nothing for a storm up here.
(Again, NOT complaining! LOL)
At least our temps have been cold so the ski places can make snow. My brother and SIL volunteer every year at the NJ Special Olympics and one year they almost had to cancel b/c it was too warm to even make snow.
This year they had very little "real" snow, but the machine were pumping it out.

Kat- hope you and Nick are getting all settled in too :)

Laurie- hope work was better for you yesterday than it was the day before. How was the zoo?

Linda W- no S/B plans here- I thought we might, but I am too tired to deal with it LOL

Clara- how could I forget? You are sending that suitcase to me soon, right?? LOL
Hey, were you ever able too get in touch with Cynthia? Hope so!

Linda- just scrolled down! LOL! GMTA!!

Linda P-- ugh! That is a lot! And I am sure you are like me, itching to get out in the dirt! LOL

The bad thing for us is that we count on the snow melt to help fill the reservoirs. No snow/dry summer... we'll have a drought on our hands.....

Hope you all have a great Friday!!
xoxoxo

Yep....it's already snowing...again....the Early Show on CBS even did a spot on the show this morning from here about the weather....geez!! 13" is what they are calling for....plus sleet and freezing rain too....DH just left for work, asked me if I could get out and shovel the driveway every couple of hours so it won't be so hard for him tomorrow!! This snow will put us around 45" of snow for the year. I don't think we have had that much snow in the past 15 years put together!!! The write up in the paper yesterday showed the nothern states and cities that get so much snow every year and we have had more than most of them!!

I am so ready for spring!! I talked to DH last night about a weekend away...he agrees, we are in need!!! We will plan something this weekend...nothing major, but just to get away...probably end up being TN..maybe a cabin. Not really getting away from the cold, but it's not HERE!! Who knows!!

Chris...if I thought I could talk him into NJ, we would come there...a little far for a weekend though :(

I am going to get coffee!! I will check back later!!

Well we don't have snow, we have rain, rain, rain! At least it seems to have melted all the ice, but dropping the girls off at school today is going to be an event. We have to walk them to the back door and wait out there until their teachers come and get them, which is fine on nice days when they can run and play, but when the weather outside is frightful, it's no fun at all. I can put their rain boots on, but they look at them as a challenge to find and splash in as many puddles as possible.

Hey, I bought a food dehydrator! It's awesome! I got it yesterday, and so far I have dried some spinach, yellow squash, potatoes, grape tomatoes and made some marinated tofu jerkey! I'm thinking it's going to be a good way to preserve produce that doesn't get used, and then to add some fruit and veggie punch to everything I make. I can crumble that spinach into scrambled eggs and make green eggs and ham, and then maybe the kids will eat spinach! Also I'm going to experiament with making dried fruit and fruit leathers for the kids to snack on. I don't know if anybody else has seen Food, Inc. or even the Oprah that talked about it, but it really grossed me out and made me think. I used to eat really well, like brown rice and beans all the time and guess what- I WAS NOT FAT! LOL. Not like now when I am tired and run through the Burger King after school. SO maybe eating better will make me less tired, and when I'm less tired we can eat better! Wish me luck!

Linda W- I hope you have an awesome weekend getaway! Sounds fabulous! Relax, kick those feet up, and breathe! Whoooooo!

Chris- my hands are all chapped from the weather and from doing some cleaning, and the shea butter I use for Gen's legs feels soooo good on my poor knuckles! Tell your brother and SIL thanks for helping with the special olympics! Although I bet it is very rewarding. I bet it's a blast, and super inspirational, too!

Okay I need more coffee. Eating better is one thing, but I gotta have me coffee!

Good morning ladies. I started a post yesterday but it never got posted...ooops!!

So, I am such a spaz. I ran out of Crazy Clara meds a couple of weeks ago. So, obviously I did an online refill request. Really, I did. Then I just kept forgetting to pick them up. Then I used all of our money up so then I couldn't get them. Lame, I know. So I have been crazy Clara for a couple of weeks which equals unmotivated and very irritated by hubby. (Although just to say duck season would annoy me no matter how many meds I were on. I think I could be unconscious and it would annoy me. LOL). So, I finally went back to Walgreens.com and found out that if you order them online there is no shipping. How about that? So, I went ahead and reordered everything. Tricare has awesome med coverage. Well, awesome for me anyway. The cover for the provider horribly. Most meds are covered at way less than 50% which I would feel bad about except that they charge so freaking much. There is just no way any of the meds I take, which are pretty standard meds should cost whet they cost even if they are not generic. What is up with me that I can't take regular generic meds anyway? No, I have to take meds that don't come generic. Can I take Allegra? Nope...I have to take Allegra-D with a little bit of sudafed in it. And the Crazy Clara pills?? Nope they aren't generic either. But my parents have really good health insurance and they have to pay so much more than I do so no complaints.

So, did I tell you guys that I restarted the Financial Peace University program? It is taught by Dave Ramsey. It is an awesome program. It is Christian based but has universal principals. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get their finasnces under control. His book "Total Money Makeover" is always a good place to start. Anyway, we just had the 3rd class and one of the things we had to do was write down our total debt. Now I have been telling Derek for years that we have a lot of debt. I have a student loan, we've always had a car payment or two and don't even get me started on credit cards. We finally have no credit cards. They are cut up and no longer a part of our spending habits but we still have the debt of them. So we had to write down our total debt not including our mortgage ion the class. So, I wrote it down and handed it to Derek. He saw the number and was just in shock. He had just never put it together that we could owe that much money. Keep in mind the average family debt is $20K and we are a bit above that, quite a bit. His spending has always made me crazy and like most couples we fight about money more than anything else, spending habits in particular. Well, it seems that was a turning point. It seems he may have finally got it. He may finally understand why it is that I get so upset everytime he comes home with a silly thing we don't need that he got a really good deal on at the Goodwill. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about a bargain on something we need. BUt it is only a bargain if you needed it. Otherwise you still spent money you wouldn't have otherwise. We have a garage full of good deals. So, I was very excited that he got it. So, you guys know me...why let someone get something when I can be obnoxious, right? So after we wrote down the number and put our anonymous total in a bag to add up and put in a group total I wrote the number down again and handed it to him again. I'm so sweet. :) But, you know what he did? He put it in his wallet. Then I was talking to my neighbor last night and found out that he was talking to them about it. So, I know it really go to him. So tonight we are having our first real budget meeting. So today I have to get everything written down that we owe, everything we need to save for (Cozumel), all of our bills, etc. Not to mention I've gone into panic mode about my kids school recently and want to put them into private schools if we stay here or home school if we move someplace with the military. So, we've got to figure things out, and get them figured out aggressively. It is really scary...BUT I am actually really excited that we are for the first time EVER on the same page. That is awesome. That is jump up and do back flips awesome. I have a lot of work to do today. Eeeek!! So, that is why I thought I'd check in this morning.

So, how about those Olympics?? I sure hope it snows soon. I can't believe there is snow everywhere but the West coast. You know I am only a few hours south of Vancouver. I found out some interesting things when I was in Europe. We did a tour of Innsbruck where they did the winter Olympics twice. One year they didn't have snow. Well, the snow for the olympics has to be natural./ They can't use manufactured snow. Just think how nice that would be to put a snow machine on a hill and create snow. No problems, right? Yeah...illegal at the Olympics. So instead they have to go to where there is snow load it onto trucks and ship it in. Can you imagine that being your job? "Yeah I'm in the snow shipping business." Craziness. Now it isn't even cold. There's snow at Whistler I believe but I don't know if they are doing any Olympic events there. Not quite sure where that is in relation to Vancouver. I've been to Vancouver many times but never Whistler. I'm not a skiier.

Well, a little love before I go off to work...

Chris, I thought you were walking to NC getting Linda and then you were headed to FL. I'll bring a suitcase and you guys can hop in. :) You know, I have tried to get ahold of Cynthia many times and she never wrote back. I don't know what is going on with her. It is all good though. We had planned on using the resort as a meetup place but we may do something else or maybe we still will. Any suggestions? I think we are going to go to the zipline park. It is a long stop there. I was hoping to find out where the good shopping there is, good food, etc. Also if it would be better to do an excursion to the zipline park or to find our own transportation. Thoughts??

Linda - I hope you have a fun weekend getaway. That is nice of you to shovel the driveway. I'd look at my husband like he was crazy, then start laughing. Maybe there is a neighbor kid who will do it for you??

Andrea - look at you getting all motivated. There is something to that eating healthy = more energy thing. Not eating sugar has def given me more energy. Can you believe I haven't had any sugar in over a month. I even made brownies and didn't even lick the spatula. UnAmerican, I know. LOL!!

Okay guys...I'm outta here and off to work.

Good morning Clara... I live on Vancouver Island and we are very excited about the Olympics here!! I cannot afford to go to them myself, but for those that can, most of the skiing events will be held at Whistler mtn. where there is a ton of snow!! The only event that is being held on Cypress Mtn. is the snowboarding and that is the Mtn. where they have had to truck in some snow just to make it look a little more pretty for the world to see. All the other events are being held at various places around Vancouver itself. Just wanted to let you know so that people don't get discouraged and stay away from this exciting time. Many of us in B.C. are not too excited with the Olympics being here, because of the cost and at such a bad time for so many! We hope that the world sees us as a beautiful peaceful and free country... one of the best places in the world to be!!

...uhhhmmm Clara....you must have read my post fast!! I said DH Asked me to shovel the driveway...I NEVER said I would!! Buhahahahaha!! He must of figured I wouldn't....he got in and asked if he could get the day off, so they found someone to cover his route....guess who is outside shoveling right now?? and double ...uuuuhhhmmmm about your meds!! Yes...I do need to throw a shoe at you my dear!!!! ~motherly/nana voice~ CLARA!!!!! DON"T DO THAT AGAIN!!!!

Sounds like you have the debt thing coming under control!! Especially with you and Derek being on the same page!! It is much better to do it together than only one trying to keep up!! GOOD FOR YOU!!!

Trudy....I think it would be exciting to have the Olympics so close. IKWYM though we would not afford to go either if it were close. But I can imagine the buzz around there of so much going on!!

That is awesome. I was so worried about you guys not getting enough snow. I knew there was plenty of snow at Whistler but not if it were close enough. That makes me feel so much better. I absolutely love Vancouver. It is such a beautiful city. Vancouver Island too. I actually have been skiing over there one of the few times I've been skiing, amazingly enough. I can't remember the name of the mountain though. The weather up there is usually almost exactly like the weather in Seattle only a tiny bit colder. Good, I'm glad everything is set. We wanted to head up there for Olympic events but it just didn't work out. I'm sure the Seattle airport is going to be really busy.

Oh crap...the Seattle airport is going to be really busy!! I'm going to have to keep that in mind when flying out for my cruise. All the Americans flying in and out for events...at that time out...will probably be using the Seatac airport. I didn't even think about that.

hey all... just stopping in for a sec. I'm off to scrapbook for the weekend, but I'm doing digi too so I'll check in later tonight!

hugs all, I'm SO excited!!!

quick stop for me!! Hi guys!!!! I'm missing you!!! Sorry I'm a bit crazy, too!!

just wanted to say I ADORE BC...spent two summers in Victoria...and my sis lives in Gig Harbor, so I LOVE the NW...

clara, you'll be fine at Sea-Tac.,..its HUGE (you know!!) and think of all of that awesome sun you'll be getting on your CRUISE!! Yipeeee!!!

okay...off to award a winner of January's Ostash...then figure out what I'm doing for my COLTS Superbowl shirt I'm creating today! :)

happy FRIDAY!!!!!

Have fun scrapping AndreaNyx!!

I have been scrapping ALL DAY LONG!!!!! No kiddos, DH was at home being OCD about the snow...he went out at least 5 times to shovel...he just came in and said "I think I have a problem....I am a bit obsessive about that damn snow"....Buhahahahha...but the road in front of our house is clear...yes he shovels the street too!!! Now you know why he came home!!

But yes...I have been a scrapping fool today...look at my "Challenge me List"...I have marked most of them off now!! WOOT!!!!!!!!!!!

I might have to knock off a couple more before I go to bed tonight...I am happy my mojo is flowing!!:p

Just have to say Yay for COLTS since I saw that!

Woot for Indiana!

(I don't really watch sports though, ha! :D)

Hey everyone- we have snow- I am loving it- got out of work an hour early and all our weekend obligations are cancelled, so I can work on getting caught up with my work work as I brought the computer home with me and can access the network from home. Not ideal for play, but getting caught up will be a huge relief. Plus bad weather on the weekend means I don't have to drive in it. Oh and the zoo was wonderful - cold but fun and I got to see my first Manatee- those things are huge and ugly, and a baby elephant. The whole zoo was way to politically correct all the save the world messages aimed at kids bothered me some. I am all for being aware of how what you do impacts the environment- but I felt like - no don't breathe you are using someone else's air by the time we left.
