Some days I think my heart is dead. Nothing makes me happy or excited. But I got a touch of Grinch Heart Growth this morning and for a *very* unexpected reason.

You will want to sit down for this.

It snowed overnight. Not a lot, about an inch or so. Just enough for it to flicker a little bit of wonder and joy in that dead heart of mine. I thought about all of the little kids waking up and getting really excited for Santa and White Christmases. My heart might have grown a little, although def. not three sizes, not because of snow. *shakes head firmly* Hahaha! (For the people who are new to the O, I hate snow- hatehatehate it. This is why I suggested everyone sit down, it has to be a shock to see that snow made me even a tiny bit happy :D)

This is it-- just a few more things to work on today, and what is done is done, and what is not-- ain't gonna happen. I think it took me two hours to get all of the cookies boxed up and ready to hand out today. I had already gotten about halfway through when I realized my brother wasn't on the list. Could you imagine, he would never speak to me again!
I was so wiped by the middle of the afternoon, I decided to not wash the wine glasses, if I tried that, I would have dropped them. I painted my nails instead and now have to convince myself that the color is fine. It's a sparkly/glittery gold-- it says it is "chrome" but not really. I only use the color for the holidays and every year I forget that I don't like it. Haha!
My BFF called on to wish me Merry Christmas- our first year (not counting last year) not together on Christmas Eve since we were in HS. I hope she is having a wonderful time- they are in Disney and I am a little jealous.

I should get myself going, I still have more food to cook for tomorrow.
Have a wonderful, joyous holiday! Love you all very much! xoxoxo

Good morning ladies! Yesterday managed to get me back into a good mood. Still a little annoyed with Sydney and her work schedule but I have stopped pouting and think I will live through it. Christmas is so much more fun with little kids and I just don't have little kids.

We had a good day with friends from Iowa yesterday. Went to a trampoline park where the kids jumped for an hour. They played dodge ball, used trampolines to allow them to dunk basketballs, did front and back flips (Sydney did anyway) and just had a good time. Then the kids played miniature golf together which gave us parents time to sit and visit. We got home just as everyone in the neighborhood was putting out their luminaries. That was beautiful. It was chilly but not cold so perfect.

Today, Brian and I are going to set out on a quest to find any of our missing items (whipping cream, miniature marshmallows, eggnog, cream cheese) for dinner tomorrow. Shaun's last gift arrived so only Syd's returned laptop is missing. And the truth is that she will prefer choosing her own anyway.

My advice to all is, have a Merry Christmas, whatever stage of life you may be in. If you don't celebrate Christmas, enjoy the extra time with family. And get ready, because I think 2022 is going to be quite a ride!

@LSlycord How fun to hang with your friends for brunch! That is a mess about the groceries. We had the same thing happen yesterday. Gary went to the store that that isn't busy to buy the eggnog, there wasn't any so he picked up cream for Cait's homemade recipe. Then Caitlyn asked Ian if there was anything he wanted when he comes on Xmas Day and all the guy wanted was Cocktail hotdogs. (He also asked for him to not hate his life so much, which broke my heart). She went to the same store, could only find a box of 24 for $10!!! I was laughing that if anyone other than Ian asked for them I would have said no way in hell!
Sorry that Syd had to work until 3 tomorrow. Will she be around in the morning at all? I hope that after seeing your friends you cheered up. Hugs!!!

@BrightEyes I saw the bouquet on FB-- you have the sweetest kids!! You can tell they adore you <3
Another good score of DVDs for you. Your collection s really growing.
OMG-- how is your nephew doing? Good thoughts to him and to his wife- how hard for her to not be able to be there :(
Good thoughts to your DD#3s family as well.
It must make you so happy that your recipes are passed down. Caitlyn took photos of my recipes cards and they retyped them into a Google Doc so she will always have them. Next year, she wants to convert them to vegan ones too- she plans to make both kinds. I must have asked her a million times if she would come back home to bake with me after she moves out.

@tanteva by the time you read this, your Christmas will be over. I hope that you, Urban, and John had a very lovely time together. IKWYM, dinners the week before Xmas are usually fly by the seat of your pants here too.

@felis Wishing you and your family much love tonight, I hope that your holiday is filled with joy. I would send you my snow if I could ;)

@mom2triplets04 I wish I had some advice about your dog other than hiring a trainer. One of the things that I learned the hard way was when Whisky and Jaida would fight and Whisky bit her and all of us is that I got very tense and anxious around her. And she sensed it. I think that added to a lot of the "vibe" for lack of a better word, and that it made her even more stressed, which made me more stressed-- so on and so forth...
She did outgrow it but the other day she play-nipped me and I did the "yelp" - you are supposed to yelp like a dog so they know that they have hurt you-- something about how they learn bite strength. Caitlyn thought W really bit me, but it was just the reflex of doing that again, even years later.
Oh--the other thing, do you use a crate? One of my dogs hated the crate and it made her worse, but the other three did well in it. But we used it for W as a cooling down place - for all of us. As I said, things got *tense,* all of us, dogs and humans on alert 24/7.
Love the new siggie!!
Hmmm... Yes, I would say Freehold is "Central" Jersey. I am one of the Jerseyites who believe in Central Jersey. The easiest way to find out: Taylor Ham or Pork Roll? Bwuahah!!
I used to teach too, I was a PreK teacher before I had my kids, then went back to work for a year when they were little and decided it was too much. I have been thinking about going back to work in a preschool- as an aide, not a teacher- when all of this *waves hands* is over.

@scrap-genie So sorry to hear of the teacher's friend passing.

I wanted to post that, Gary just said that he lost his internet on the laptop and my phone looks like it is searching for the wi-fi. I am hardwired so I seem to be ok.

@scrap-genie I hope that the dinner turns out wonderfully!
Sacrilege! The is NO such thing as too many cookies. (I could give up candy and cake in a heartbeat as long as I have cookies. LOL)
That is so smart to use a button for the gnome's nose. Mother of Pearl is a perfect choice. I am still also relieved that we got tested, I felt crummy again yesterday and would have been in a panic if we hadn't. (more of a panic than my baseline state! LOL)
Having been owned by many cats, yup, they do that too- remember Catzilla who would try to smother me in my sleep? No rest for the parents of furbabies :D

@Cherylndesigns Hehe, I think we figured that you were busy surrounded by the family and were too busy to check in-- seems like you are caught up in all of your family adventures and loving every minute,
hehe, Asher must have been wiped out, what a long day. Are you off to Adrienne's tonight, tomorrow, or both?

@nancyr I am sure that you are busy with the family too, wishing you all a wonderful holiday!

@faerywings so glad that the snow was just the right amount to cause happiness and not work! It's almost over...and whatever is done if exactly the right amount.

@tanteva love your attitude about Christmas. We have talked and talked about it...and now it is almost over. What will we talk about next week? LOL

@BrightEyes sounds like a good plan to just stay in for a few days...and watch DVDs and listen to music and read books. Yes, sounds like an outstanding plan. Glad you got that beautiful bouquet. Awful about your nephew...glad that he got to the hospital quickly but so sad that his wife can't be there.

@felis Merry Christmas to you. Please don't worry about being the "grumpy cat" here. We all get grumpy from time to time...and knowing that people care is sometimes just helpful. So, if you feel like popping in but think you have nothing happy to say, pop in anyway. I guarantee you that we won't care.

@mom2triplets04 I am so sorry that the dog is putting you through this! And that signature, along with your new one here, is definitely a sign for "Enough"! I need to think about my word for 2022.

@scrap-genie they didn't even offer to replace the laptop...just gave me my money back which was irritating since it was on sale. But, whatever....

@Cherylndesigns oh my goodness, I can only imagine all of the wonderful chaos at your compound. Love that you made him Ramens with an over easy egg on top. Even if he could only finish half of it. Enjoy your weather and your family!

Morning, all. Hope you all have a wonderful day and enjoy whatever you do... even if it is just lazing the day away. I celebrated a day early and enjoyed having my turkey with the trimmings for supper last evening. Yes, I still have enough for another meal... so nice to not have a mess in the kitchen to clean up afterwards! LOL Not sure if I will have a repeat of it tonight or skip a day and have it tomorrow. I watched In Love and War DVD with Sandra Bullock then read a bit before going to sleep. I did get some good news... my nephew had a stent put in and his wife was allowed to visit him late yesterday. He said he was feeling better. So glad he had treatment as quick as it was.

Do I dare admit to being a bit of a Grinch yesterday .... I decided to clean a bit and ended up packing the Christmas decorations away and putting the normal decorations back in place. That included handwashing the crystal candelabra that sits on the buffet. Love seeing it clean and shining afterwards. Gave my spirit a big lift to see everything clean and back in place. I put the rose bouquet in the center of the kitchen island so I still have a bit of holiday décor to enjoy. Spent some time bringing my DVD inventory up-to-date on the laptop and printed out the new lists for the notebook. (Love having the new printer working with the laptop!) Then put the new DVDs into the office bookcase. Feels like I am clearing things away at the end of the year so I will have a fresh start to the new year... and hoping it will be a better year. Already have some plans and projects for the New Year that should keep me busy.

Wishing you all Happy Holidays.

Good Morning everyone!! I am just popping in very quickly to wish you all a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Things are still very hectic here, but happily MIL is doing well and we will be at SIL Linda's for the big day. So much family drama here and I will tell you all about it in the New Year. I am missing all of you and happy to be able to post here again, because my computer totally crashed on me and thank goodness our son installed a new hard drive and more memory for my old iMac. It should last me a few more years now. Photoshop is working so much better now too thank god I did not lose anything thanks to my computer whiz of a son! I love that boy and he gave me the best gift of all, being here with us and bringing his family along with him! I am sorry I have been so absent here and sure am missing my O family!! I just wanted to let you all know that I am thinking of you all and look forward to being here again in the New Year!! Until then I am wishing you Peace and Goodwill to all of you!

I'm going to check in first and then read everyone's posts.

This morning was going so good. First my husband got up with the puppy and took care of her walked and fed. Then played
All was going great until my phone rang!

At 9:30 my mom called crying. My grandma in Florida fell and she is in hospital. She is 91 years old. She fell earlier in the week and said she wasn't feeling well. My aunt is fed up with her living with them. She said she is not taking her in and if she does recover they are looking into a nursing home. We are in NJ. So now we wait to see what is going to happen. My mom wants to fly to Florida. She said she'd bring both me and my sister if we can go. So now I pray that God will not let her suffer. She has had a rough 7 years living with my aunt as they don't get along. Last year she fell and broke her hip.

It's been a rough morning.

Just popped back in to show my crystal candelabra... the photo doesn't show all the shine and bouncing lights. That is my Jade Japanese Lady statue on the right of the floral arrangement.

I forgot to say that it is raining!!! So happy to get it but unfortunately it won't last long. We started at 40* this morning but the temp will be falling soon as the cold front is moving our way.
Just got a call from DSon#2 and his wife... so wonderful to talk them.

So sorry to hear that others are dealing with family problems.

@faerywings I too hate snow! We didn't get any here luckily. We did manage to get all our outdoor furniture covered yesterday and my husband took our bikes and put them in our yard and covered them too. I don't know if that was a good idea as we don't have a shed but do have a garage. We hired a trainer for Myla. He has come to our house 2 times. We have one more which we have learned a lot. We also put her in puppy kindergarten but it was 45 minutes away and the ride was torture with a puppy. She did graduate. She also did petco training which she also passed. She is very treat rewarded. Does the basics Sit, Down, Stay, Paw. We are working on Leave it and Drop it. I have also been teaching her Kiss Get Cookie. I'd rather be licked all day then biten by her sharp teeth. I worked in an elementary school for 8 years doing cafeteria and recess monitor. I loved it and it was only part time. At first it was K to 5 but 3 years ago they changed the school to K-2 which was great as I loved the little kids. But because of covid I quit as they didn't give me a leave of absence option. So I am home now. I don't have a teaching degree. I just was roped in one day by the PTA at my kids school and just stayed there.

@LSlycord Merry Christmas. Yes 2022 is going to come at us quickly and rapidly. NJ is not doing so well with the Covid counts. It's spreading like wild fire. We are trying to stay home as much as we can but my kids are going to school and working. Praying everyone remains healthy.

Merry christmas to all that celebrate. We are going to my parents tomorrow. I think my hubby will stay home with my dog. My parents live an hour away from me. Tonight we will finish watching the Matrix as we started last night but it got late and we only watched half the movie.

So glad you are feeling a bit more Christmassy, Chris! I don't love snow, but I don't hate it! My idea of snow is to come for Christmas and leave the next day! And, generally, if it snows here in NC that is what happens.....here today and gone tomorrow! ;) Works for me!

Wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas! Still not sure if we are doing anything tomorrow with DH's daughter. But, I'm OK with just relaxing if not! My kids (3 of the 4) came last weekend for our Christmas gathering. DH's kids rarely ever get together, which is sad. Praying the New Year is better than the old year for all!

Merry Christmas everyone! The gifts are wrapped. I'm just making rice krispie squares now and some nacho sauce later so not much left to do. We're going to relax tonight with a few movies and snacks and then have a lazy morning before bringing Bailey over at noon for the afternoon of gift opening and dinner.

@nancyr I am sure that you are busy with the family too, wishing you all a wonderful holiday!
I yi yi yi I don't even know what day it is. Oh, I just looked at the bottom of my computer - it's Friday. We just got home from Adrienne's and I'm so stuffed I can hardly breathe. I eat way too much when we go up there - she's such an excellent cook and we all pitched in and brought our favorite things.

Yes, Asher was exhausted! We slept in until 10:30 - I don't remember what day I was last in here. I shooed him off my laptop - how long? he asked. BWAHAHA Little stinker. It's been a long day and he's laying in my bed timing me. SO, Ava did a photoshoot with Steph and Asher today and I can't wait to show you all the photos!!! They're amazing!! She took him on "an adventure" earlier and they went into the woods. She got some incredible pictures of just him!!

I promise to show you girls some pictures tomorrow. Steph and I have to drive for an hour and a half (one way) tomorrow to take Asher to meet up with his dad. I think I told you all that his dad's dad lives in Webb City near Joplin. They all flew out together and landed in Arkansas. It's worked out well, but I don't want to let him go. :( He said tonight he didn't want to leave. :( But, we have to share.

We had a wonderful Christmas party tonight and it was only family. Roger said NO boyfriends/girlfriend until after we had dinner, which was after we opened gifts. It was really nice and we got a great family picture - which I'll share tomorrow, too.

I'd better go - the ticker is running. LOL Merry Christmas to ALL and I'll be drifting by later on tomorrow. Hugs and love to ALL OF YOU!!!

It's just past midnight now and Santa snuck in leaving wrapped gifts under our, well not tree, but centerpiece, which is in itself a gift from SiL. That gnome is front and center on a box the perfect size for him. We look forward to opening them in the morning.

Just want to wish you all wonderful times for a Merry Christmas.
