Tomorrow is the solstice! It might take a while to notice the difference, but yippeee, I am excited for the longer days. :goldstars:
Now, if I can start the countdown until Spring (she says before it is even "officially" winter bwuahahaha!), I might feel even happier.

My baking day didn't turn out all that productive. I made two batches of bar cookies, but I couldn't make the peanut butter ones I wanted to make. I thought I had plenty of PB in the house, but apparently not. I was considering making them today if I can get some from the pantry, but I don't know if I have it in me. My guess is *nope!*
I'll see how I feel when I get home.

After I was finished baking, I spent some time on my Monday lesson. The next thing I knew, I had to start dinner. The days are zipping by.
Today is gonna be more of the same-- FP/library to pick up a book for Monday/start to clean the house.
Gary is feeling mentally and physically awful and I hate that I can't help him. But maybe I can channel that into scrubbing down my house. I am a stress cleaner which means the timing works. :housekeeping:

Wishing all of you a wonderful and relaxing day!♥

Had a great day catching up with Ilene yesterday.
Did she have awonderful time on the cruise?
Sounds like you have been non-stop busy the last few days. Did you get everything done organizing in the house and bedroom that you wanted to?
I let hubs out for a night with friends last week and look what he brought home :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh: See if I let him out again :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:
Even when you are sick, you are so very funny!
I hope that you are feeling better and the kids as well-- the last thing you need is a round robin of germs.

The shoulder/arm are still aching so not doing much scrapping for the next few days.
Glad to hear that you are taking it easy!
Kirsten has been sick so when she called on her break today she said she was really congested so is wondering if she should cancel almost in tears so I said see how you feel later and go to bed early.
Oh no! I hope that she is feeling better too!
I keep seeing headlines about some crazy flu strain going around. I hope that everyone is much healthier!
Mmmmh-- the chocolates sound amazing!!!!

Jaida is bouncing around to get my attention, I'd better feed her before he hurts herself...

hugs!

I just finished my final layout for the 12 Days of December!!!

Now I'm turning this computer off, and - if not tonight, then tomorrow - I will try and get my NEW COMPUTER up and running, and this old, very tired laptop will retire! Cross all fingers that everything will run just smoothly.

I should be preparing for Christmas .... but ... gee ... too much!!! I hate being the responsible adult!

Yeah, but even though tomorrow is the "official" day of winter.....it is already here! And has been for awhile now!
Hate to hear Gary is feeling bad again! I know exactly what you mean about hating you can't help him! That's exactly the way I feel when Mark has a sick migraine! Or sickness of any kind! My anxiety immediately kicks in and my IBS escalates due to the "replay" of Tim's illness and my helplessness to do anything about it! :hug2:

Ilene loved the cruise and wants to go again, "and take me with her" LOL! Not sure I'm up to it! Not sure Mark would be up to me going! We shall see!
I ended up not getting the organizing done that was in my head yesterday, LOL! Took the scrapbook stuff from our old church to my DD so she could drop it off while in WV this weekend and ended up staying longer than intended and then went grocery shopping on the way home and then to the pharmacy.....by the time I got home, I didn't feel like doing anything, so I scrapped a bit, LOL! That was much more enjoyable! ;)

Hope everything goes smoothly with the new computer, Eva!

Good Morning!
Mark and I usually sleep in on Saturdays, so he was up by 8. I laid there until 8:30. He had the dishes from the dishwasher put away and my coffee made by that time! He's such a good man! I think I'll keep him! ;)

Got the scrapbooking stuff from our old church carried to my DD yesterday so she could drop it off while in WV this weekend. That felt great to finally get rid of it! I should have left it there when we left back in 2008! So, yeah, I've been dragging it around with me all these years!

Didn't get any more organizing done yesterday. By the time I got back home, I wasn't in the mood, LOL! After I went to DD's I went grocery shopping. That always kills any motivation I had prior to. I also had to drive to the pharmacy. So, yeah, by the time I got home, I was shot. Plus, I forgot Mark was leaving work at 2, so a few minutes after I got home, so did he. He went to the woods, but I did a bit of scrapping Anja's challenge instead of working!

Today, no plans for anything. However, I am a bit motivated to do the organizing. So after I finish this, I think I will jump into that! I want to launder the bed linens today, too. So I'll do that while working in here.

OK. Have a great day! It is 32 but nice and sunny here! I think it is supposed to get to 60 today!

Good Morning

Even when you are sick, you are so very funny!
I hope that you are feeling better and the kids as well-- the last thing you need is a round robin of germs.
I aim to please! :floorlaugh:
I am feeling some better but not the kids. They dont understand take the vitamins, along with sauna. They just sauna then sit and snot and blow and snot. They dont understand you need vitamin c and d to help you kick the cold!!!
I hate being the responsible adult!
Yep, 100% with ya on that one.
He had the dishes from the dishwasher put away and my coffee made by that time! He's such a good man! I think I'll keep him! ;)
Awwww so sweet. When my alarm goes off and I get up, the coffee is already in my cup and mixed to perfection with the cream. All I have to do is shuffle to the couch and poof, coffees there. Such good men who know its the little things. :heartpumppink:
I wonder if spaghetti with black pepper and ketchup would be a good Christmas dinner???
NOPE just nope. Not a good plan.

Today is what day??? Are you sure? Okay, guess it is Saturday cause you all keep saying it but I am not sure. I did NOTHING but the laundry yesterday. Not one single gift wrapped. I have al but 2 that are still on the slow boat so there's no reason they're not done. Might be the thought of sitting on the floor to wrap that keeps me from moving forward.

Its another chilly one here. Negative temps but hey at least the number is still single digit (as long as you dont look at feels like numbers). We desperately need some snow. It insulates the ground which helps keep water flowing. So far we haven't had issues but if this sub zero temps keep up we could. Please send back the snow!!!! An icy Christmas isn't what we dream of.

Off and well, not running but do need to feed the dogs. LOL. Have a wonderful day.

Morning, all. Just had an hour long talk with my Granddaughter#1... so wonderful to talk with her. Miss having her, the great-grands and her parents living in the same town with me. It has been 6 years since they moved away. Glad to get caught up on the latest news with the family.

I did get my errands run yesterday... but the traffic was terrible!!! Finally dawned on me - it was Friday and the Christmas shoppers were out in droves!!! UGH!!! Came home with 7 library books. Ran across 3 books by James Patterson...about 'The Shadow'. Now I am showing my age... "Who knows what evil lurks in the minds of men... The Shadow Knows.." It was a radio program I listened to (before TV). I am curious to read the books as Lamont Cranston (The Shadow in the 40's) is transported into the future... Then I stopped at the used book/DVD store and scored big time... with 12 movie DVDs + plus a big one: 6 DVDs of Rogers/Hammerstein musicals. . . . The Sound of Music; The King and I; Oklahoma; Carousel; South Pacific; and State Fair... !!! I ended up reading until 1 AM this morning. Still have about 1/4 of the book to go to finish it. Think this is going to be another PJ day... sit in the recliner with the massager and read. (Yes... the shoulder is still bothering me...)

Debating if I want to make the pumpkin pie Sunday or wait until Tuesday or Wednesday. Depends on how the shoulder is doing. HAGD

@tanteva no offense but I say no to the Spaghetti and Ketchup with black pepper. I know you love it but not for me so I hope you enjoy.

@AK_Tracy I'm glad you are a little better but it's because you only did laundry yesterday instead of running around like a mad woman trying to be wonder woman! The days of sitting on the floor to wrap presents are over actually long over...that is what the kitchen or dining room table is used for now. The kids have a few days to get better so everyone should be good as new for Christmas.
I have to say your temps are making me get goose bumps. Snow is so much better than icy cold but even that is not my favorite. We were just talking that lately here in Florida we need the heat at night and the AC during the day...love our new AC/Heat unit.

@faerywings You are gaining on it so quit being so hard on yourself and why are you still adding things to your to do list?
Sorry Gary is not feeling well but it sounds like Jaida is better as she was bouncing around for your attention...That is a good thing.

We went to get Kirsten in Tampa today...she is coughing but feels good. We stopped for a quick lunch in Palm Harbor. We fed the turtles and birds so the alligator came over but not to close. She was up at 4 this morning to get to the airport so is napping now.
Later we are going to the club Christmas party so she can see some of our friends that she has not seen in a year or so. Turkey croquettes are made so I just have to heat them and the gravy, grab bag gifts are wrapped so I'm in good shape there.
I ate 3 of the special chocolates from son & family...sooooo good. Talked to Sarah today as their present was being delivered---duh FedEx delivered it to the neighbors house...gee, they own both houses but deliver to the # & name and get it right. Oh well she will send Reed over for it.
I don't think the roll on CBD is doing much for my knees...3 days now and not much better

@BrightEyes I hear you about talking to grandchildren...we are so lucky they want to talk with us and visit. Don't wait too long to get your shoulder checked if it is serious and not cared for it can freeze up then be useless. Maybe it could hold a book but it wouldn't be good for you. Keep us posted

That's about it for me...time to relax as I was up at 3:30 today.

No point in seeing the doctor about my shoulder. I had a torn rotator cuff surgery on it about 13 years ago. I also have a torn rotator cuff on my other (left) arm last year but the doctor said he would not do surgery on it due to my age (would only sedate me if it was for a life-threating cause). I have been doing the wall-walking PT exercises some... I just need to not pick-up heavy things or stress the shoulder/arm. BTW, that is why I use a small pillow on my lap to hold the book as I read.

Glad Kirsten was feeling up to the trip! Have fun!

Good morning, happy Sunday, and Happy Solstice!
Did you know that Solstice means "sun stands still" in Latin? If not, now you do. It's one of the things I picked up as I wrote my lesson for tomorrow. :p

How is your weekend so far? Busy? Hopefully, it is a nice balance of not too busy and relaxing.
I lucked out yesterday. The FP was not as crazy as I expected. I was home before noon, and that was even counting stopping at the library on the way home.

What did I do when I got home? Honestly, I am not sure. I put away all of the baking stuff after officially deciding that I was *not* making the PB bars. (Go, me!) I wrapped a few more small things and started my grocery order.
Gary and I had dinner and then watched Knives Out: Glass Onion. That was a fun movie!

Today-- *sighs*
I have three big tasks. I have to clean out my fridge and take stock of what I need for Christmas Day. Then I have to finish the order since I won't have time to do that tomorrow. I am not sure what will happen next-- clean or finish my lesson prep. Probably the lesson, since I have the majority of that done. I have to put the finishing touches on it and add the timing of the activities. Then it is cleaning the house for Thursday.
yeah-- easy peasy... *wink*

Jaida wants her breakfast so I'd better feed her. I guess that means I am behind schedule already-- and it is not even 8 am :thud:

I think i have 45 seconds before she is finished and then has to go outside LOL
I just finished my final layout for the 12 Days of December!!!

Boo on adulting.

How did that go yesterday?
Sunny and 60*!! I am super jealous!
I wonder if spaghetti with black pepper and ketchup would be a good Christmas dinner???
Do you really wantme to answer that?

(I swear, Eva does this just to get me started :rollingpin1: :D)
am feeling some better but not the kids.
Good to hear that you are doing better, hope the kids follow your lead soon!

Thats wonderful, the FL air and sunshine will do her good :D

Sorry for the super quick cvommentsbut now J is bouncing to go outside. (told ya! :rotfl:)

Good morning Lady O's! Sorry to have been so missing... Good grief! This moving thing is no joke! The apartment in Minneapolis is empty. We have a full UHaul truck in my brother's driveway. Shaun's work schedule got changed so we wound up hiring 2 movers for 2 hours each at both locations. We will move the big items (sofa, king bed, dresser, etc) into the storage unit and then we are done. Well...we still have boxes to sort through...but basically done. Sydney doesn't know if she will have room for everything she wants to take back to Florida and still leave the passenger seat open so she thinks she can drive it alone. Watch for major updates in that battle over the next two weeks. She is not driving 19 hours alone. She is only 21 so not all hotels will even rent to her. No, no, no... :rolleyes1: More to come.

Now, I need to find my way to the list of what I need to get done around here. And I need to get a few more gifts this week. Plus, I need to think about my word for 2026. I have it down to two...health or peace. Both will be a challenge for me. I need to get myself in gear! :runningdog:

Don't worry! Christmas dinner will be just as lovely as every year!

I'm stepping out of the whirlwind for a quick minute.
Kirsten was so excited to see us and is ready to do anything for the week.
Last night we went to the club Christmas Party. We all had a blast everyone was happy to see Kirsten but we had to explain that she had laryngitis so couldn't talk. After eating we had a fun grab bag event and then played games. Kirsten was tired so we left around 10 and we were all in bed by 10:30. Good sleep but she still cannot talk much and does cough.
This morning we went for breakfast then did some errands. When we got home we feed the turtles and birds...yes Jimmy came up on the lawn to get some food. The alligator showed up but didn't come very close. Kirsten and I decorated our Christmas tree but won't do much else as far as decorating. We are going to go caroling with friends to shut ins but Kirsten who loves to sing won't be able to. We got all the blinking necklaces, antler headbands and bells ready to share with everyone. I think we will chill out for a few hours before we have to leave. After our caroling we are all going to a friends house for wine and snacks to that will be a fun ending for the day.

@faerywings Congrats to you for letting the cookies go...I'm sure you have plenty and that relieves some stress....I'm proud of you.

@LSlycord Moving is such a project but she is lucky to have you to help. Invincible kids with just go and go..but 19 hours is a bit much.

Happy rest of the weekend dear Ofriends

Morning, all. Today will be another "take it easy day" - probably read and/or watch DVDs or Netflix. Yes, I did finish reading that book... and half-way through another book. Will start on the 3 "The Shadow" books next. Pretty sure they will be quick reads. I call my sister yesterday afternoon to tell her about finding them. Promised her I would let her know if I liked them... and if I thought she might want to get them to read on her kindle.

Decided that making the pumpkin pie will wait until Tuesday or Wednesday. The shoulder is better this morning - but I am going to baby it for a few more days. I need to do a pencil-in on the DVD inventory list of the DVDs I just bought. Will wait another week or so to pull out the old Dell laptop and bring that inventory up-to-date. The Inventory notebook is overflowing... so will winnow down the old DVD list and also get rid of the VHS inventory since I got rid of the VHS tapes. I hold my breath now every time I start up the Dell laptop (it is from 2007) and it is the only one that has the software for the Inventory. I know it could quit working anytime now. I should see if DH's other laptop has either Word or Excel on it... and if I could use either one for the inventory. But... that is something to do next year!!!

Ooops... having problems. BBL

YES! I did get the organizing I wanted to do DONE! That was switching out the capris and short sleeved shirts for the packed away sweaters and long sleeved shirts. The pants hang in my closet all year long! I also packed away my short skirts. I honestly don't even know why I bought them! I never.....rarely ever wear them! Couldn't resist getting them from the Kohl's clearance rack, however!
YES! Yesterday was a lovely day! Not quite 60s but low 50's with lots of sunshine! I actually fixed a couple of sandwiches, chips and chocolate chip cookies and ate lunch in the woods with Mark!

I'm so glad Kirsten is at least feeling up to going with you on the events! So sad she won't be able to sing the carols with your group, however! I wouldn't be able to stand not being able to sing! I'd probably have to stay home!

Good afternoon!
Back from church, lunch is eaten, grocery order done and will be ready to pick up in an hour or so.
Nothing planned for today. I did get my organizing done yesterday. That task was to switch out the short sleeved shirts for the packed away winter items. I also packed the capris away. The long pants are in the closet year around. I even packed away the short skirts. Not sure why I even bought them other than they were on the clearance rack at Kohl's! I always wear maxi length skirts to church or pants on Wednesdays. I rarely ever wear those skirts, so I may give those to someone next year when I unpack them after the winter months.
We are not having services at church on Christmas Eve, but we are gathering for a soup supper and a devotion and singing and possibly games on New Year's Eve. That should be fun! I need to go to the bank this week for the cash for the grands. I can wait until January to do that for my grands.
Gonna do my Day 21 page after I finish this!
Have a great afternoon!

Good afternoon. Taking the day off (again) to do nothing but had to come share with you all...........
**dont freak out!!!***

I survived sitting on the floor wrapping gifts!!! And I dont hurt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:

Surgeries have been worth every moment of agony and recovery. I can do things now that before I couldn't, like sit for 60 minutes on the floor wrapping gifts. The best part is I dont hurt. If you want to know what it was like, sit on a Costco size bag of peas, then place smaller bags of peas under each leg and one under each ankle, oh and they have to be frozen so they're rock hard. And then just for fun, place 10 pound weights on each hip. Yep, it was torture and now I can move and wrap like I'm in my 30th! :floorlaugh: Didn't have it in my to do ribbons so I cant be in my 20's LOL
