Good morning everyone!
It's so cold and foggy :brrr: that I can hardly see the dachshunds when we're outside. And the leash is only 3 metres long. It reminds me of the horror film "Fogg". And we still have to go through the forest later ... Help!

I hope you are feeling fine and slept well. Give me some time to learn more conversational English and to get to know you better.
Two topics occupy me. The first is about my purchases here at the O and how I organize them so that I always have an eye on which kit goes best with which photo. This might be a discussion for the Scrap Chat.
And the second issue is that when I read through your posts here I find that sometimes my posts or replies are so strangely phrased, you would never speak or write like that. Maybe I'm putting myself under pressure? Do you understand what I mean? Can you help me occasionally, if your time allows, to respond to an impossible translated phrase with "no way" or "not possible! A new smilley would be helpful!! :tongueout1:
For example, you would never say "I can understand you very well" in sympathy. It seems to me the stupid translation machine is a bit outdated. And you would never say, "How is it with you?" You would say "What about you?" right? I'm going to look for a translation machine that uses American slang. :rotfl:

Oh, one more thing! When you say "I'm going for Personals" or "No personals yet" the translation machine translates it with "Kontaktanzeigen" which means in German you want to place a loneley hearts ad!! :giggle4::giggle4::giggle4:
Okay, then many of you have nice things planned for the future.

Dear ones, have a healthy and stress-free (maybe better: stressless?) day. I'm already looking forward to scrap anything.

Good morning @Su_Sanne and all of the lovely O ladies. First, to address your concerns about whether or not we understand you. We understand you completely. Yes, some of our slang might be a bit different but I have never had any problem understanding you. So stress-free is the perfect translation...and something that we all desire!

I had to laugh about the translation for "Personals" because the way that we use it in our Daily Chat is not common. But those of us in here completely understand it. "Personal ads" were common before the internet made the newspapers obsolete.

If I am asking someone "How is it with you?", I would say "How is it going?" or "How are you doing?"

And, yes, please ask that question in Scrap Chat about organizing your kits because you will get a large variety of responses. And I always think about whether or not I can do it a better way!

hello @Su_Sanne and @LSlycord !

Susanne, you have me laughing here. I can see why you are having a difficult time with the translator. I know that I typically use slang, strange abbreviations, and some made up words. I have been trying to be more conscious of using more Traditional English when I reply to you but I don't know how to stop myself. :D
Please don't put pressure on yourself at all. We understand you well. And if I say something that leaves you confused, just ask me what I mean. Yesterday, my family was making fun of me for how I speak in fragmented sentences so I am used to it.

The translation for "personals" has me cracking up :floorlaugh:
I don't know if it will help you or not, but sometimes The Urban Dictionary helps me understand my kids.

Now-- on to coffee! #coffee-4

Did you all have a fabulous day? It was just another day here for me. I cleaned, scrapped, finished my food shopping order, and did yoga. Excitement! Tom spent the entire day working on his car and finally around 4 pm finished up. He and Caitlyn headed out around 5 pm and then had to turn back because one of the wheels was loose. I think they made it back out around 6.30 for Trivia Night.

I am going to pick up my groceries this morning and some prescriptions. I also should look at some new glasses. I have been dragging my feet because I don't want to spend the money on new ones but the ones I have are 2 prescriptions old.

Susanne, Be careful driving in the fog. That always makes me nervous when I can't see ahead.
For organizing kits and photos, I use ACDSee Photo Manager software to tag files by color or theme. Then I can search for them when I am looking for something specific.
This: "I can understand you very well" could be said as "I hear you" or "I get it" or "I got you." What other phrases are you having trouble translating?

Linda-- if we keep saying it (No stress!) will we believe it someday? :rotfl:

@Su_Sanne Leftovers are one of my favorite dinners. That means I don't have to cook!

@LSlycord Please tell me that you were able to get your insulin yesterday *fingers crossed*
I just can't even think about the mess we are in with gun violence. The night before last, I was reading an article in Time Magazine about Gun Violence in 2022 with a focus on Uvalde. I wasn't finished with it and had left it open on my desk only to see that first thing as I was reading about Michigan State. At least two of the students there were in prior school shootings- one was at Oxford HS and another at Sandy Hook. I see why your mood was ugly. ((((((((HUGS))))))))))) I hope that today is a better day.

@BrightEyes That is smart to have stayed off the roads yesterday. The last thing you would have needed was to start to slide and wrench your shoulder when gripping the wheel. Sounds like you are making good progress with wall walking! Mama Chris approves :giggle4:

@Nonni F LOL! That is funny that you and DH don't celebrate but still manage to find a way to do something small for each other.
Reeses and Wine-- I like the way *you* roll Haha! Reese's would be for Gary and wine-- alllll for me!
I tend to be blunt about some things and I have been trying to not have my head in the sand with my mom's health. It comes as a backlash to my parents who hide things from me to "protect" me. As if I am 10, not 54 yo. SMH
I am sorry to hear about your coworkers but I imagine that going to work and not being treated with kid gloves is a good thing for him.
The beans!! So many big beans!! ♥ Oooh boy, that sounds like one heck of a tattoo story. When you are ready to share, I promise I won't fall asleep when you do. My DD wants to get rat footprints tattooed on her shoulder one day but that would be a lot smaller than his paws.

Going to post this now, Jaida is panting her stinky breath on me to I have to take her out.
BRB!

As for me...yesterday was another slow day around here. I sorted more photos for scanning. I got my new insulin which definitely improved my mood. I made a layout. I watched some TV. And I waited for a call about the job... I feel like I may be living ground hog day! It is going to get into the low 80's today so it would be a good day to spend some time at the beach but do I want to drive over there. Who knows?

Need to get a few more pages done for my all about me book. So many stories in my head. And I really need to get the Europe book done. I need a plan.

@faerywings while I would love for both of us to get to a point of "no stress" I fear that the way we are wired, that would mean that we were dead...so I guess we will keep the stress going for awhile. Maybe strive for less stress. ;)

@bcgal00 I need to check out the show "Children Ruin Everything". I tried watching "Mayor of Kingstown" when it first came out but it was just a little too rough for me.

@taxed4ever I hope that you enjoyed your time at the hairdresser. And, I hope that you got a good night's sleep to make up for the previous one. The phrase "Hell in a Handbasket" certainly seems appropriate right now.

@Cherylndesigns I can't wait to see the stone piece that you got for Chuck. I'm so glad that you were happy with it...and more so, that Chuck was happy with it. I got my insulin but I just don't understand the shortages.

@vickyday it sounds like yesterday was just the perfect day! I love eating out for a celebration...or for any other reason!

@BrightEyes can't wait for you to be back in scrapping shape. I miss your pages in the "Story of Me".

@Nonni F love that your boss brought you a cake pop. It sounds like you work with good people.

Have a good day all!

She didn't want to go outside, she wanted breakfast

Linda!! You drove in a blizzard to get b-ball tickets? Yeah, that sounds like something we would do. BFF and I bought tickets to see Bryan Adams who was playing at the west end of Long Island, knowing that we were going to be at her mom's family's house on the eastern tip. How hard would it be to take a train to the concert? Two trains and a taxi and many. many hours bad. What were we thinking? LOL!! We were actually closer to the concert if we were home in NJ! Stupid kids! :D
I love Steve Martin and Martin Short are awesome together-- and then Nathan Lane-- all of the oldies but goodies :) Glad you taught Shaun about them.

@bcgal00 Do I want to ask what Mayor of Kingstown is about? It sounds intense if you had to quit watching after a few episodes.
The shop here is just chock full of gorgeousness. I have some CT work I need to do before I download anything else, what kits are yu working with?

@taxed4ever I love having you as Old Grouch company ;) Did you sleep better last night? That is the pits when you keep waking up like that- even worse when it is cold. hehe, did you fall asleep during your hair appt? Sometimes I wish I could fall asleep when they are shampooing my hair, I love that feeling. 46 years of marriage! Wow! You must have been a baby when you got married. You sure as heck don't look old enough to be together that long at all. I mean that 100% as a compliment.
I will keep my eye on books by Bill Bryson. I could use something funny to read.

@Cherylndesigns I can't wait to see Chuck's gift. What a lovely surprise for him, And of course he loves it ♥
My kids would say that too-- Plot Twist! Is it from a movie or show or is it just that our families are similarly bonkers? We say the same about Caitlyn, she has her own language and she infects us all with it. I swear, she and Scott could have a full-blown 20-minute conversation and not use *one* recognizable word of English.

Speaking of how weird they are-- Walgreens had a free 8x10 offer yesterday and this is the photo I used for it. It's a joke that they hae with either other and it is one of a series of their "moves." Bwuhahah!

It is directly opposite the one of her getting hooded by the Dean of her school. One (semi) serious and the other showing their true colors.

Arline- awww, that is sweet of the Dep Fire Chief.

@vickyday You are so kind and compassionate and understanding. I hope that she joins your friends, I know that you will help her cope with the grief in many ways. I can see how it spreads through your church-- what a sweet pastor!
You have a keeper to in Mark. :heartpumpred: It is those little things that mean more than a dozen overpriced roses.
70* yesterday-- wow! I think we are supposed to get near 60* today. I have been looking at my forsythia, it has bloomed early and incorrectly before. So far, it is still brown but I bet I'll see that green haze to it in a few days.
I was honestly wondering about the baby socks the other day, I have been crocheting the shawl I started after Christmas and you were working on them at that time too. May is going to be here soon. Is Ilene getting excited?

Oh looook!!!! It is 7.59 am and I am posting this on time (for a change)

Love and hugs!

Woke up to snow this morning. Under a winter weather alert - with most schools/government office under a 2 hour delay. Looks like more than we had yesterday - which had mostly melted away by afternoon. But the storm/snow clouds were hanging over the mountain by late afternoon. The last of the 1099's arrived in the mail, so I did a quick copy of them, then packed up the tax papers and made a quick trip over to the PO to get them mailed to my tax gal. We were having a few flurries by the time I got back home. Glad it was less than a mile to the Post Office and the roads were mostly clear. Will be staying home today - as the roads are worse than they were yesterday.

Had a talk with DSon#1 last evening. He and his wife and DSon#2 are planning to come for a visit in early March. Then the following week will have DD#1 and DGD and her family coming in the following week. It will be so good to see them. DD#3 is thrilled that they be here... she will come over while they are here.

I am sticking my toe back into scrapping... had a CT commitment that had to be done this week for a challenge next month. Took a couple of days to get it done - which usually is done in a couple of hours. Will see how I feel next week and may try to ease back into scrapping. I really have missed it.

Thinking of all of you. HAGD

Good morning ladies. Last night was fun with homemade pizza and two movies, one a horror/thriller and the other a slasher movie (based in covid times). They kept our attention but were not deep thinkers so we could play with the dogs, chat a bit and keep up with the storyline. We were so full from the pizza that we never had our brownies for dessert so tonight Jen and I will have some. I'll make a caramel sauce to drizzle overtop, all keto friendly. Tomorrow D goes in for his colonoscopy so no food today, only liquids. Poor guy.

I ordered 4 mini pizza pans last night from amazon so I can make 4 pizzas, eat one for dinner and then freeze the other 3. Today I'll stay home aside from taking Remi to the dog park this afternoon.

I need to think about locations to go to on Friday if a friend comes for the day. She doesn't walk much so thinking about a drive where we can stop along the way for photos is what she'll like.

@faerywings Sounds like you had a productive day yesterday. Hope you find glasses you like. The show is about a town that thrives on the prison industry and a family that tries to be "brokers, fixers" between the officials and the criminals, trying to keep the peace.

@Su_Sanne Don't worry, if we don't understand something you say we'll ask about it. As for the kit organization, you will get a lot of different responses. Ask over in the scrap chat forum. Like Chris, I too use ACDSEE software to view my products and drag/drop into photoshop. I organize by store/designer/kit.

@LSlycord Enjoy the warm weather. It's 20 out there right now but will warm to mid 30's. We have crazy weather right now. Next few weeks it will fluctuate between a high some days around 14 and other days up to 30's or 40ish. They are predicting snow for a few wks so winter is not done with us yet.

@BrightEyes Sounds like lots of family time soon. It will be good to have them there to help you out around the house. Be careful with overdoing it. I can imagine how much you miss scrapping but don't push yourself. Take the time to heal.

I'm getting more coffee, getting dressed and getting on with my day. HAGD everyone.

Good afternoon (morning, or evening), Everyone.

@Su_Sanne love the translator interpretation of some things. Definitely makes the stories more interesting. ;)
I had to chuckle at the "organizing" what is this organizing thing you speak of? You mean, not everyone searches through every single kit on the planet all in one file like I do? LOL

@LSlycord please, please, please tell me you have insulin or some on the way!

@BrightEyes glad you were able to step your toes back in to scrapping and how wonderful you have family coming to visit soon.

@faerywings love the fun photo you chose to print.

Things have been quiet at work this week so I took today off... and was actually productive this morning. Got my oil changed and tires rotated, shopped for pet supplies at Tractor Supply and cleaned out and "organized" (there's that word again) my pantry. I am thinking a cat nap then some scrapping before going out to dinner with friends this evening.

I hope everyone has a fabulous day. Stay safe. The world has definitely gone downright mad.

Good morning all. It's a beautiful, sunny day here - currently 59 but going up to 70! The weather is going to be a bit of a roller coaster for the next week, but the end is near - it IS only the middle of February and it's certainly not "Michigan Winter" out here. We compare everything to them. We always had at least 3 month of winter up there.

Chris @faerywings I LOVE that 8x10 - aren't free pics from Walgreens great??? That's such an awesome picture. I don't know if if "Plot Twist" is a movie or not. We say it when we're changing the subject in what we're talking - we just think it's funnier than saying "new subject" LOL I don't even know how we started saying it - we just thought it was funny. I can imagine listing to your kids - it's hard to keep up sometimes. That's MY joke for Chuck and Roger "try to keep up". They just laugh and say that it's impossible.

@Su_Sanne I think you do a wonderful job - I have no problems understanding you either. Some of us speak "gibberish" in here - so we have learned to decipher each other. HAGD (Have a good day), IDK I don't know, BRB Be right back., Chris is right - the Urban Dictionary is my go-to if the kids say something that I'm not familiar with. Right now, one of their favorite words is "rachet" - as in "I need a pedicure so badly - my toenails are rachet. (Ugly) Somewhere there's a list of message board "slang". DD is dear daughter, DS is dear son, DH is dear husband, etc.

Linda @LSlycord did you get your insulin????? I forgot to tell you that I HATED the "portal" SO much - it was like the black hole. You got put in there and the lid was closed. HATED it!! I feel your pain - hope you got your script.

Kay @BrightEyes SO exciting that some of your kids will be coming for a visit!!! I know you're looking forward to that and it's good to hear that you're going to try to scrap again!

I've got to get off of here, but wanted to post a picture of what I got Chuck. It's more pretty IRL of course, but there are little pieces of stone glued on the front around the picture. He made the picture oval, which I absolutely LOVE. The back is black stone and you can see that on the edges. There's a funny personalization - it's a "private joke" and I knew Chuck would love it. This is one of his favorite picturesthumbnail---2023-02-15T095901.130.jpg of all the pictures Ava took and he sent it to his sons and said "this is my best side". I had that added to the front and they put it in one of the little hearts. :lol23::lol23:

Thanks so much!! My granddaughter took that for us. Our weather is typical for this time of year. I remember that many years ago - in Indiana - the land of the "if you don't like the weather, wait until tomorrow" - literally - we were driving around in a convertible with the top down on Christmas Day. I'm too old to believe in "climate change". I remember many Christmas Days that we were out playing and it was like 60 degrees, then in March, we had horrible.blizzards!!! People need to get over "climate change". I also remember seeing snow in the shade in between our houses, in May!!!

No "climate change" problems here - I live in Oklahoma and it's typically very mild in the winter. We got "caught" in that Polar Vortex - that was a once in a lifetime phenomenon. Very atypical for here.

@Cherylndesigns I was being snarky about Climate Change. Weather is usually a lot colder here this time of year. Don't remember the last time I went to dinner in February in a dress, no coat and it was still 50 degrees when I headed home. But, I'll take it!!!!! ....and I'm sure winter will return.

Ruth asked if we would stop and get her for church tonight. I'm glad she did. She got teary so it may have been rough for her to drive by herself to church.
We got to 62° today. Cloudy most of the day but still pretty warm.
Yeah, those baby socks will probably never get finished. Yes, Ilene is getting excited!

This is one of his favorite picturesView attachment 389730 of all the pictures Ava took and he sent it to his sons and said "this is my best side". I had that added to the front and they put it in one of the little hearts. :lol23::lol23:
Oh Cheryl! I love your gift for your DH! Wonderful picture! I love that he is facing the other way! What a wonderful gift!

OmG!! :heartpumpred::heartpumpred::heartpumpred::heartpumpred::heartpumpred::heartpumppink::heartpumpred::beatingheart:

Even if cats do not like me because I want to pester and cuddle them - without respect I like them! Even if they annoy my dachshunds and even if they always do their business in my garden, they are so soft and I love it when they growl quietly. I can't help it - I love them all - dogs, cats, mice, birds - only - as you already know - I do not like fleas and ticks. :eek2:
HAWE ... :rotfl:I do my own abbreviations
HAWE.....Have a wonderful evening??? ;)
No fleas or ticks here......or bed bugs!!!!

AMEN with the "climate change!"
You have lived in a lot of places, Cheryl. Was your DH in the services?
