any idea why my yellow printer ink is now orange?

Early in March I made/printed 2 birthday cards on my printer and all color inks were fine. I made a seriously adorable Easter card for my godson and I was so upset to see that instead of greens and yellows, it printed in browns and oranges. I cleaned the cartridges to no help. There is still 50% ink levels in the color cartridge and the blue and pink are perfect hues.

I don't think the ink is all that old, which is my only guess what might make it turn orange.

Has this happened to anyone?

PS: I decided to pull it out of the printer- it expired 2/13. That is really not all that old? Sheesh, i take meds that have expired farther back than that....And why would it print fine one week and totally not the next?

Now I am asking if there any any way to make it better??

maybe (really guessing) but ink a a mix of different chemicals,
and running out of date can be transalting in " more sensible to oxydation /air ... hence color changeing with oxydation??? or humidity ...

even closed I have seen ink color changed when old, so yes, i guess the age of ink is the guess I would make.

Is it a refill ink cartridge or brand new???? I found that my refills didn't work worth beans...

That's my only knowledge on the subject! :)

I would do a nozzle check to make sure that all colours are printed .It could simply be that one cartridge is blocked and therefore not making the right mix.

that happens to me once in a while...I have no idea why it happens but the last time I just change the type of paper I used and then it worked fine?

That bites! I think it's probably the old ink but I'd definitely do a nozzle check or cleaning and see if that takes care of it.

thanks ladies :)
I did the 3 level cleaning, with no change, I took it and and shook it up a bit (maybe if I slap it around too??) and I'll try again.

If that doesn't work, I think I have another color cartridge somewhere. It just stinks to waste the other good colors, yannow???

It got frisky with the red.
