    2023 Travel Project, p1 C Ration Dinner

My first page for the 2023 Travel Project, Dad's first letter home from his travels to Korea, 1951. I started with Project 2023 Travel Layered Template Album pp 2-3, placing the layers on a double page layout. I clipped photos to the masks, placed Solid Papers for the backgrounds, clipped the...

Journaling Bill was working nights and had just arrived at the chief’s quarters right before 8 AM and was preparing to hit the rack., when he heard a loud bang. He immediately rushed down to the maintenance shop to see if they knew what was going on. “This is not a Drill” announcement was made...

It is summer - and really hot - here in the US and July means Independence Day. I am unashamedly a Patriot and a former active duty member of the US Army who took an oath for life, so this day has a much different meaning for me than for some.

    Echoes of the Past

Journaling reads: Dad was stationed in California during his time in the Army. That is how we ended up going to California on vacation in 1964. He always talked about liking his time out there. I don’t know where this picture was taken or when. I know he graduated and turned 18 on 10/31/46. But...

This companion page to Celebrating Excellence is done in the same style.
  10. Celebrating Excellence

    Celebrating Excellence

This LO about my military days is really pretty straightforward. In keeping with the military theme, things a re pretty orderly and not too artistic. I feel this is the right way to do this. So I started with my background choice and stacked some other background pieces on that. Added...

When I was in the service, Independence Day was a big deal. I would hope it still is. It always puts me in mind of the cost of that freedom. Journaling reads: “A veteran — whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve — is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a...

  13. The Pledge of Allegiance

    The Pledge of Allegiance

As we in the US celebrate our Independence Day, it was been brought to light that Francis Bellamy (author of the Pledge of Allegiance, who was born in the next town from mine) may not be the original author, that he may have plagiarized it. However, he did promote the oath with one word change...
