We'd quickly name the colorless time before the first snow, when most birds were gone and vibrant color was gone, our least favorite part of fall. But we made a plan. We'd visit Santa Fe. They'd celebrate Day of the Dead and we'd once again enjoy the scent of the chiles in roasters.
The "All About Me" topic was Guilty Pleasures, and for me at the time it was not getting ready for bed early enough and then hurrying way too much. Then I'd turn on my sleep timer and my Twitter. I'd try to find at least three things to make you laugh when you woke up in the morning.
Fall color at Great Sand Dunes NP didn't disappoint us, we expected pretty much all of it to be yellow. You worried I'd pay for that hike out towards the dunes but I couldn't resist and I paid the price all week, needing you to get take-out hamburgers every day. It's so hard to learn.
Love the photo of you in your robe, the way the colors flow through the frames on the left, and the magic sparkly gems which I've always believed have special energy.

All about me. I was a railroad wife for better and worse. Remember those years, when you'd come home and after subtracting commutes to Wyoming you'd be way under eight hours for sleep. You don't remember any of our vacations, & I remember how you'd try to pick fights when you were tired.
