The first thing I'd always do when we got to Alamosa NWR was hop out of the Jeep and be glad we were there. It was always my happy place, and the pond would be mostly dark because the sun wasn't up yet. I'd always take a photo anyway. On this morning, I loved pink clouds reflected in the water.
Thursday was our last day in Alamosa, and we were glad we got out to the Alamosa NWR. There wasn't much water and the only cranes we saw were overhead. But we saw an eagle, a hawk, blackbirds, Canada geese, and I think maybe a bittern. The sun came & went behind clouds.
Funny, the diner is welcoming me out of the darkness and fog, but we were just out this morning in the thick fog and it was kind of nice although I also prefer the vivid colors.
Fifteen minutes before sunrise, most of the cranes had taken flight. They scattered in every direction, and I thought about how many tons of grain they would clear from farm fields including refuge land that produces grain for cranes and other wildlife. We enjoyed the sunrise before heading out.
Love your notes. We have so much in common, and I'm a Sagittarian. But if I had been stubborn I couldn't have survived the constant abuse of my childhood and so I turned into the complete opposite of stubborn. It probably didn't hurt me in the corporate setting. ;)
