Even less birds on Wednesday at MVNWR, and we decided not to come back next year if the drought map still shows the county in extreme drought. We were glad to see a few avocets, and there was evidence a predator had taken a large bird. A coyote could easily wade into such shallow water and get a...
Thanks. It's very sad, but we totally expect it to get much worse because of climate change, and never go back the other way. I hope we're all wrong, I really do. We see the northeastern part of Colorado never recovered from the dust bowl of the 1930s.
On Tuesday the lighting at MVNWR was flat at sunrise, and a bird we had never seen before circled above us before flying off. I managed to get a photo and later learned it was a black crowned night heron. It was beyond my wildest dreams to see this bird, as I knew they feed at night.
We had time before Calvillo's opened so we stopped at Blanca Vista Park in Alamosa because it's by the river. There were no Canada geese this time, but we found lots of purple sweet peas and they were delightful. Then even more so when we saw these huge bumblebees enjoying them. It was a joy to see.
I'm confused because the store's challenges say they can't be used in other challenges. But I'm thinking maybe because this is a game, I can post my masterpiece here because why not? Might have to ask forgiveness if this was a mistake. LOL :D
So exciting for you too! I love this way of introducing the news and how the new little one is already fitting into the family. Love your title wordart mixed media grouping. Congratulations!
We started our hike on Meadowlark Trail at 5:30 am, about 15 minutes before sunrise, and left the refuge just before 7 am. We saw more than a dozen different types of birds plus the elk. There's extreme drought and the sunrise was just average, but the refuge is still my happy place.
Fewer birds Tuesday at MVNWR, but lots of yellow-headed blackbirds and two elk. While ruddy ducks swam with their mates, a baby coot swam with one adult. Both Canada goose parents stayed with their babies. We saw a meadowlark, cinnamon, redhead & shoveler ducks.
Gorgeous. I love the idea of bridges designed to be so beautiful instead of just get people from A to B. Also love your blended sky and greens with bits of red. Congrats on your Standing O.
