How many layouts a month do you do?

Most months between 5-10, usually on the lower side for now. I have a lot of LOs up for this month so far, but they are ones I made in fits and starts after surgery but didn't have the energy to get posted. I MADE myself do it today to get them all on and it has definitely improved my state of...

    Off side elements

I have always let the elements go off the edge. I did start as a paper scrapper, but my scrapping mentor did all this glorious stuff with hinged elements, lace, ribbon flowers and such. I wanted to do that but it's hard with boys! I can do that with hybrid and have learned to adapt my sleeves...

    Speaking of templates...........................

I'm with @bcgal00 @faerywings @Veronika and @taxed4ever I'm not good with clusters so I get great ideas from templates. Love Anna's, and I wasn't always a pocket scrapper but Karen Schulz coverted me and Lilach has spurred me on.

    Are you a template fan?

I love templates but seldom use them as is. Mostly, I love the inspiration they give me. Since I still work full time - until 26 May, Hooray! - they save me time and sometimes include paint elements and masks that I find really useful.

Are there items you seldom use in a kit?

I love alphas, but don't use them as often any more because I have some fantastic fonts. Shadowed elements are not my favorite. As was already stated, getting the angle, etc on my own shadows is often impossible to match. I use flowers but I am not a huge flower fan unless they are hand...

@LSlycord Linda, I hear that! I looked around and found myself pushing 70. When did that happen? I love the minimalist approach of your LO. It really focuses on the story. Love you LO!

@scrap-genie Jean, I just love your LO! The railroads played such an important part of so many lives and communities. I must also thank you for the reminder - my Grandpa worled for the railroad as did a couple of my father's cousins. I need to document that!

    The Redbuds are Out!

On my way home from work yesterday, the sky was beginning to clear after a rally rainy, gloomy week. As the clouds broke up, the sun shown down on the road home from the university and nearly took my breath away. When the redbuds are almost ready to bloom, they turn this misty, feathery shade...

    Miss You, Mom

My niece unexpecte4dly lost her mother recently and this is for her. I deliberately added no journaling so Shannon can add her own. The background is paper 19 in Pin Light mode over paper 02. Other than that, there are no special techniques here - just play with it until it feels and looks right!

    Celebrating Friends

Wendy was Justin's primary after hours baby sitter when we were all at The Salvation Army's College for Officer Training. We spent Justin's first 2 years there from the time he was 3 months old. Wendy would just come knock on the door and take him with her to go play on the weekends. He...

    What's your favorite flower?

Hmmmmm - roses, violets, pansies? Too many to choose. I love when the honeysuckle blooms, though. It's one of the scents COVID didn't take from me!

    01-Iowa-Schools-to-1923.jpg

These 10 pages are for a set of panoramic sleeves. Journaling reads: This Wahkonsa school house was completed in 1912 and is built on the site of Fort Dodge for which the Iowa city is named. Grandpa (George William Winter) started school there in 1913 or 1914. Thomas K. Winter, my great...

    02-School-Skime-1929.jpg

This was the schoolhouse for Skime, Minnesota in 1929 where my cousins Thelma and Clarice Winter attended. Their teacher, Gladys Anderson boarded with the Roseen family in 1930. Teachers often boarded with local families in the one-room schoolhouse days as salaries were small and housing was...

    04-George-Winter-Class-of-1929.jpg

Journaling reads: Momma and her father both attended Fullerton Union High School, as did Daddy and his first cousins, Euvonda and Jack Deburger. I suspect I will find more family here when I get to other branches and twigs of our family tree. This is Fullerton Union High School in 1929.

    05-Ann-Winter-Class-of-1954.jpg

The bottom right yearbook photo is from 1952, Momma is 3rd from the left bottom row as Ann Winter. The larger page at center right is from her Senior yearbook in 1954. Momma and Daddy married in June 1953 and she is shown as Ann Wood. In my high school days, if you married and or got pregnant...

    06-Ann-Winter-Class-of-1954-02.jpg

By the time Momma and Daddy attended Fullerton High, the school was HUGE. The yearbook for 1929 had 174 pages in it. The one for 1950 had 384. The arches from the previous page were -and are - still there. Seniors’ Corner, on the right, was a favorite gathering place. I wonder if they got yelled...
