You said it was like a picture postcard. There was a nice hike on the trail between these rocks, and I remember finding lots of juncos and sparrows on a rustic rail fence. There aren't a lot of vistas in the park, but lighting and scene would be changing every day all year long.

We waited for the day with the best weather for the week, to drive Pikes Peak Highway. After the toll the first stop overlooked Highway 24. I was already above 8,000 ft and by the stop at 9,250 ft was very thankful for the oxygen. I was feeling good, but knew we'd have to climb very slowly.

Just east of our hotel we turned left onto a residential street and we were maybe half a mile into Garden of the Gods park when we saw the bunch of deer. They kept browsing and paid no attention when we stopped and that was nice. After that we didn't see them again all week.
Dr. Rose called and wanted to see me Friday. Of course it was a yes. So we were up early and on our way home. The road was black ice, but we allowed plenty of time. What I'd remember most of all about that day, was how happy "Every Breath You Take" playing in the waiting room made me.
