Hi everyone!

Claire here, really excited to host the Year Flashback challenge this month. I have never hosted one of these before, and had a lot of fun deciding which year to pick.

This challenge is about choosing something from the specified year and create a layout about anything that happened in that year that is either meaningful or interesting to you.

For this month, I chose 2022. We bought our house in Florida that year. It's not just significant for that, it was quite a year, and buying the house got very stressful at the end as Hurricane Ian arrived!! The front garden looked super tired after being hit by a hurricane. 3 years on, I think I've done a great job of making it look pretty.

I want you to choose a photo (or go photo-less) from 2022, tell us a bit about the photo or the event, and why it is memorable to you, and use 2022 large as your title. No templates for this challenge, please.

Here is my example:

I used - Rachel Jefferies - Lived In: The complete mixed media collection.

Hope you have fun with this challenge. Can't wait to see what you make.

Claire x

This is Halloween 2022. It has a special meaning to me since my two granddaughters have a 20 year age difference and live separately. They don't get to spend much time together, but the oldest made sure that her little sister had a wonderful halloween.

Another batch of fabulous layouts, thank you so much. I have left all the love directly on your posts x

I went all in, LOL
Here is journaling, if it's hard to see on the LO:
DAY 1: November 18, 2022
Cheverly, MD – Avon, NC
After passing Richmond, the traffic cleared, and the foliage became more intense. We refueled in Norfolk, VA, and reached the Outer Banks just after 3 pm. Our first stop was the Wright Brothers’ Memorial. Next, we stopped by the Lost Colony on Roanoke (Fort Raleigh National Historic Site). Finally, we drove to our B&B, watched the sunset, had dinner, and went to the beach to look at the night sky. Without light pollution, it was absolutely amazing!

DAY 2: November 19, 2022
Avon, NC – Ocracoke, NC
First order of the day, unwinding at the Old Lighthouse Beach in Buxton, NC. The weather was superb, the water was still warm-ish, and there were almost no people. Heaven! Here I fell in love with the ocean. Later, in Hatteras, NC, while waiting for the ferry, we visited a museum, and then sailed to Ocracoke, NC. We arrived just before sunset, and the super-friendly lady at the hotel reception kindly let us go to her backyard to watch a spectacular sunset. She also recommended a pub, which served excellent local oysters and oyster shooters.

DAY 3: November 20, 2022
Ocracoke, NC – Charleston, SC
The weather changed dramatically, with clouds and cold winds, as we left the lovely Outer Banks and took a ferry to the mainland. On the way, we passed a wildlife refuge in the marshes. We stopped for lunch and to refuel the car in Wilmington, SC. There, we discovered the best pizza we have ever had! We arrived in Charleston, SC, together with the last light of sunset, and we stretched our legs during an evening walk.

DAY 4: November 21, 2022
Charleston, SC – Savannah, GA
We woke up to another beautiful, warm, and sunny day, perfect for sightseeing in Charleston. We visited the Charleston City Market, the Battery, Rainbow Row, the Tavern (the oldest liquor store in North America), the Old Exchange Building, and the jail, located near the former slave market site. We concluded our tour with a delicious crab soup and fried green tomatoes, accompanied by grits and tomato jam (this is how I fell in love with grits!). After that, we started our journey to Savannah, GA. We arrived after dark and went to explore the town’s nightlife. This took us to the waterfront, where we had a delicious and very unhealthy dinner, and tasty drinks to go (Savannah is one of the cities where walking on the street with a drink is allowed).

DAY 5: November 22, 2022
Savannah, GA – St. Augustine, FL
Only in the morning did I realize that our (gorgeous!!!) B&B was a block away from the famous Forsyth Park and fountain. Since it was my first time in Savannah, we took a trolley tour of the city. I agree with everyone who told me how beautiful this city is! We finished our stay in Savannah with a visit to the museum where Forest Gump’s bench was relocated, and then we had a peach cobbler. Duh! After saying goodbye to Savannah, we drove to our next stop: St. Augustine, FL, which had already begun celebrating Christmas with its Night of Lights.

DAY 6: November 23, 2022
St. Augustine, FL – Melbourne, FL
After experiencing the NYC-style intensity and crowds the previous night, we decided to start with something more relaxed and visited the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum. We did not expect to discover that this beautifully maintained museum is affiliated with the Smithsonian, and that the lighthouse was designed by one of the architects of the Library of Congress. We also enjoyed the pretty, sea-themed Christmas trees. Finally, we ventured to the historic district of this oldest town in the U.S., founded by Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century. We learned that some of the buildings were original structures built in the 1700s and 1800s, while others were reconstructions. The fort and the oldest U. S. school are original. In the early afternoon, we bid farewell to this somewhat commercialized town and began the last leg of our trip.

DAY 7: November 24, 2022
Melbourne, FL
Thanksgiving with friends!

DAY 8: November 25, 2022
Cocoa Beach, FL
Our traditional after-Thanksgiving escape room adventure! We made it!!! Later, we had a feast of leftovers, the swimming pool fun, and some good, relaxed conversations.

DAY 9: November 26, 2022
Melbourne, FL – Cheverly, MD
We made it in one day, and Aga did not even let me drive! Now we have a whole Sunday to rest before going back to work…
