The Tokyo Electric building above was used by the Far East Air Force (FEAF) as officer billeting. The FEAF was the aviation organization of the US Army in the Philippines. They were the predecessor of the Fifth Air Force.
Dad and his friend are on the sidewalk just down the street from the Tokyo Electric building.
I was unable to determine if the building below was of significance or was just appealing to Dad.
The Nippon Gekijo (Japan Theater) was known colloquially as the Nichigeki theater. The theater opened in 1933 and was closed in 1981. Its Art Deco shape from the street appears to be round but was actually U shaped. Planned to be the largest theater in Asia it had a seating capacity of four thousand.
The skyline to the right was probably taken from the Imperial Gardens across the street from McArthurs Headquarters.
