We left the house at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 17th. Since I-40 was closed from the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene in September we had to find a new route to take. We decided to take I-85 south to the bypass around Atlanta, I-285, hoping to miss Atlanta traffic. Unfortunately, that didn’t help at all! So, on the way home on the 21st we traveled 411 to 20 to I-85 north near Lavonia, GA. It didn’t really save us any time, but it certainly saved on the stress level.
We arrived at Michael and Jessica’s at 5:42 CST (6:42 EST). That would be an 8 3/4 hours trip, including stops for gas and food and bathrooms. We stayed in for the evening.
On Friday, we went to breakfast at Cracker Barrel and then headed to Guntersville Dam to take pictures. There was a nice park next to the water. While taking pictures and walking through the park, I tripped on a tree root and fell. I thought I had broken my right wrist so we went to Marshall Medical Center for X-rays. No broken bones, but I was very sore in my ribs and arm on the left side plus my right wrist. I iced it throughout the week- end.
Friday evening we went to Fire by the Lake restaurant where we met Jessica’s mom, Joann and Caleb, her grandson.
On Saturday afternoon we took the dogs for their afternoon walk.
Right
Sunday we all stayed home and listened to Bobby’s message and then met Joann at Julia’s Mexican Restaurant for lunch.
In the afternoon Michael and I walked the dogs. Mark had to lay down with a headache.
We played lots of Rummikub in the afternoon and evenings.
On Monday we got up early to begin the trip back home. Jessica had to take Caleb to day care, so we didn’t get a farewell picture with her. We were on the road by 7:15 (8:15 our time). We arrived home at almost 5:30.
Another great trip and time spent with Michael and Jessica!

Vicky, this is a fabulous spread! Everything from the beautiful scenery to the wonderful family photos capture the memory of good times with loved ones. That was a nasty fall. Take it easy and allow yourself to fully heal.
