I used 3 papers to make the piled background. I used a paper warping action on the drop shadows of the two top papers.

I clipped my large photo to a mask from Vicki Robinson's Travel kit.

I took the dictionary paper overlays and placed them on the top background and then blended them slightly by choosing Layer Style --> Blending options, and then moved the bottom slider to the left a bit. I did that on the text as well so it doesn't look like it's hanging on top of the page, but melting into the page like a real pen would do.

I then added the flowers and leaves and drop shadowed them. I added the dark marigold paint and used the Layer style blending options on that.
