Pileated Woodpecker - Frolic

I haven't seen this species, the Pileated Woodpecker (I had to look it up), around here before. I've seen a few this week. They are after the seeds on this tree we planted years ago, but I cannot remember the name of it. The cardinals and blue jays love them too.

I started with the Frolic Artsy Layered Template, a great way to kickstart your mojo when it's been MIA. I added Solid Paper 3 below the template layers. I clipped my photo to Frolic FotoBlendz 1-1, duplicated the photo/mask and put Blend Mode Multiply on the mask. I clipped the other two photos to the three small frames masks. I then recolored some of the template layers (stains, etc.) to browns and greens and duplicated the paper texture layer with blend mode Multiply. I added MultiMedia 7-2 with a hue/saturation adjustment on the ribbon and flower from red to gold and adjusted the green hue. I added the title with font Modric and journaling text box.

A perfect little composition starring the adorable woodpecker - I love woodpeckers, they always make me smile :) And I love those frames!

One year--2014--we had a pileated regularly visit our bird feeder. You cannot believe the thrill! Yours might be after more than seeds in your tree--could be a tasty ant colony tucking in for the winter that's drawing your pileated's attention. Regardless, wonderful sighting photos and what a visual treat!

Wonderful photos! The ribbon and flower addition with the color changes work really well with the fall color scheme. Beautiful!
