We were at the gate at Soapstone Prairie before sunrise, but it was locked. We thought they probably closed it when they closed the forests due to red flag conditions. It usually closes at the end of November to become an elk refuge. On the hour trip home, we saw a golden eagle.
It's just that kind of a year!
