Notes for Photoshop Elements 14

The way I often like to use Artsy Transfers is to drag the ones that catch my eye onto a blank canvas and then throw a photo into the middle to see what happens. It's like fingerpaintingfast, free-form, and theraputic. In this case I used Artsy Transfer #5 followed by #1, with the photo of my daughter landing right in the middle between them. I set the photo to vivid light blending mode and, using inverted masking, blended the photo into a shape that worked. I added Artsy Paper #2 as a background and, using the same finger-painting mindset, dragged in Multimedia Leaves # 2, #5, and #4.

Finishing up my layout was a matter of adding the word art, which I chopped apart so I could reposition the pieces to better fit my design, and then the quote and journaling. To this point the whole thing took me about 40 minutes.

But then, of course, there is always more. After looking at the composition for a while, I wound up adding the second photo because the page is for my daughter's scrapbook and I wanted to show her face and in the years to come, I believe the page will have more meaning to everybody that way. I quickly desaturated the photo, blended it into the background with an Artsy Brush, then added the flower and button to cover up the less-than-perfect extraction. At the end, I came in at a little over an hour and felt a lot better for having taken even a little time to take a creativity break.
You come up with the best combinations in your layouts. It is very refreshing to just throw things on the page to see what happens, it makes it so relaxing. Love what you did with the photos.

Love this layout. So many great ideas here. Love reading your process notes, and I also was drawn to the black and white with the color photo combination.

I always love the vibrancy of your pages Laura, they are full of life and love, your daughter will cherish this album for sure!

This is so cool, wonderful dimension with all the texture, love the angle of the photo!!
