Erik and Zanna had anticipated their date...a symphony concert at the Thanksgiving Point gardens. They went early to claim a spot on which to set up their beach chairs, and were just getting settled in when Zanna got notification from Verizon that Melaina had called 911. Melaina was reporting a fire in the house! Erik and Zanna frantically gathered up their concert paraphernalia and ran against the stream of in-coming concert-goers, to the car.
As they were heading home, on the phone the whole time, they were assured that the fire was out and everyone was safe. But driving up to your house, seeing your kids on the lawn and a fire truck, is never a sight you think youll see. Neighbors were helpful, especially Livia who calmed Avery and loaned box fans to help clear the little bit of smoke and oder out, and the firemen stayed until Erik and Zanna got home...well after the fire had been extinguished.
It all happened because Avery was in the kitchen cleaning the stove. She bumped a knob that turns on the burners, and didnt notice. Then she was back in the living-room watching a movie with the boys when the smoke alarm went off. Paper towels near the burner had caught on fire. She alerted Melaina, who had been downstairs. Melaina got them all out of the house and called 911. Both girls are heroines! Livia is getting a batch of cookies!
