Hi there!:wavinghello:

I'm curious ... how do you start a layout? Do you always start it the same way? What's your favorite, go-to, default way to start?

Hi!
I usually start by throwing a paper onto a page, then go through the kit and anything I like at all gets thrown on the page. Then I go from there. Sometimes the page is built entirely photo-less, then I find the photo to go with it last. That's weird, I know.

Personal scrapping, I do chronological photos. So I start with all my photos of an event, like a birthday. I then see how many I have and then search the folders for things that make that event, like balloons, cake, streamers, etc. Then I find any and all photo masks that make me smile. Sometimes I will do a template if I have 4-6 photos or 30 photos. I have several templates that fit those two amounts. Then I hunt for the background papers. I tend to use 3-10 kits per personal layout. For challenges, its a different system yet not too different. I first have to hunt down the photo that fits the challenge. Then I look for the background paper and then add elements. I also try to keep challenge LO to one kit but I am not always successful.

Yes, that is weird :floorlaugh: To create an entire layout then add a photo. I wouldn't be able to do that.

Most of my LOs are done to show off a designer's kit/bundle. I usually begin by looking for photos with the the right colors/theme. I put a few photos on a blank background then add several papers behind them. Then click all but 1 photo off and click through the papers. Do this for each photo. Usually a photo jumps out. Hide the papers and add elements to build cluster/s around or near photo/s... add title/word strips then turn papers on/off to find the best one.
