The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
hellloOOOO!!
Cold, cold, cold this morning! I am wearing my base layer long-sleeve shirt, a short-sleeve t-shirt, and my long-sleeve t-shirt for work today. I know I am being silly and stubborn, but I psychologically cannot wear my winter puffer jacket. OTOH, I am charging up my hand warmers just in case. And shoot, where did I put my gloves and hats?

It really shouldn't be that cold today, and the sun will be nice once it comes out. But you know, me, drama queen! :crown1:

I can say that I had a (semi) productive day yesterday! Woo-hoo!
My friend's house is clean. I haven't been there for four weeks because I skipped when I was down the shore. It's satisfying to see a big difference from when I get there to when I leave. While I was there, Scott called and invited us to dinner at his house, well, heck yeah! I was planning on making roasted acorn squash soup for dinner, and I needed the seeds for the Friday field trip. I ended up roasting the squash and garlic and dehydrating all of the seeds, so those parts are done. It was warm enough to do some light yard cleanup- I collected the last of the morning glory seeds and took down the vines. I put away some of the garden/patio things. I had thought I was going to take down the hummingbird feeder since I haven't seen any of those little guys in weeks. But when I reached up, two yellowjackets were drinking from it. I can leave it up for them a little longer.

The field trip today should be an easy one for me. It is a program I haven't done before. Everyone else working today has, so I'm more of a helper. That is cool because I still have no clue what I am doing tomorrow. It is the Field Trip for my JW Pod and I have two plans written. The one that I *want* to do is the Pumpkin Chunkin but want to make sure that they are ok with it. I have the entire focus of the day based on the scientific method, not Halloween, so it should be fine. But I also need to have someone to help me with the trebuchet. I can't move it or set it up. The counterweights we used last year were ~75 lbs. (I haven't done any programs this year and I am trying to remember everything from last year. Yeah, I know-- good luck with that, Faery!)
Plus, as long as no one has food allergies, I want to make pumpkin bread with them.
*fingers crossed that I find out early today because I have to buy the ingredients*

Wishing all of you the best day ever!

Good morning ladies! Yesterday was a good day. Had lunch with a friend. We had scheduled it to talk about retirement but the focus changed a bit when my SIL
I am so glad that your friend was able to support you as you grieve. What a horrible experience she had as well. :brokenheart:
I have had good luck harvesting seeds and growing zinnias. That will be a sweet reminder and connection to your friend.
But not before I do, please take note of the name plate under my photo. I am Officially a Cheery-O!!! I really like the sound of that!
*beaming*
YAY!!!!

71 days til Christmas
.....
and I just saw a commercial on TV for Christmas decorations.
Same and I HATE it!
Grandma Louise added a little bit of vinegar to her bread. I will add the recipe later today. Because the O is my family so the perfect place to share family recipes. And I think that a layout would be the perfect way to explain A&E cottage cheese.
Thank you! Never would have thought vinegar would make bread so good. Sam made us pumpkin bread from her Grandma's recipe and it was delish! Sometimes, I think the tried and true recipes are so much better than the new-fangled ones. Yes, I sound old and crochety! *shakes fists at the clouds*
We had to make an appt at DMV too and I think that helped a lot. Or it could be that the office we went to services fewer people than one of the bigger ones? We used that inspection station over the summer, and we didn't wait at all.
Yep, we are ready for whenever it happens. This fall has been on the warmer side from normal so it will probably be November when it snows but who knows. I expect it anytime after the 20th. The one year we got three feet over night was mid Oct. Its just a wait and see. Some towns have had it snow already but it is the snow melt sun repeat time of year. We're creeping toward when it sticks but being so warm still, its a wait and see game.
I know you are happy with the snow -- very much unlike me, haha!-- so its good that you are all prepped and read to go. Scott and Sam picked up some more firewood from my parents' house yesterday,y so they are pretty well set too.

Not much happening around here today. I dont know if scrap mojo left or if my book is just too good. I just dont feel the scrap desire right now. Plus its Wednesday. Guess I should start my day. Where did the coffee go? Its like one minute the cup is full and the next its empty???!!! Who drank my coffee??? :floorlaugh: Oh yeah, me, two cups. It just goes so fast.
Have a wonderful day!!!
:rotfl:

@BrightEyes That rash looks awful! I didn't know that Covid could give someone hives. What in the world doesn't it do??

Good morning ladies. Life is fun but busy (as always). Photography is now slowing down for the winter as fall migration is finished. This winter the goal is snowy owls and a few snow/ice landscape shots so the camera will go in for cleaning sometime after we get back from our trip, before the owls return here.
I have been loving the photos that I see on FB, you have such incredible wildlife. Although as I was scrolling, I saw the tiger and for a second I was like WTH??? Then I realized you were at a zoo :giggle4:
I'm trying to be more active in the cat rescue where I volunteer. We were informed that there is a mother with three kittens nearby at the industrial park. I went trapping today. Pretty quickly, two kittens got into one trap, and later on, the third one was caught in the second trap. We weren't sure if the kittens were still young enough to be socialized with humans, but it turns out they are. They will spend the night in my house and go to the foster home tomorrow. Pictures are attached :)
What a huge success!! Those babies are adorable and I hope they find a wonderful forever home. And fantastic that you were able to get the mom as well. That is such a wonderful thing to volunteer with.

PS: Everyone is welcome in the daily ooos! So glad that you came by. And even if your day isn't all that successful (many of mine are *not!* ) please join us for a cup of coffee/tea and some conversation about anything or nothing at all. ♥

@bitzee Hiiii!! How have you been?
Well, Mark tested positive for covid this afternoon.
Praying I don't get it!
Oh no!!! I hope he has a very mild case and that you don't get it too.

Time to feed my dogs and get ready for work.

xoxoxo

Good morning ladies. Slow day yesterday. Brian spent over an hour yesterday on an underwriting call for health insurance. They just kept asking the same questions over and over. (I was in the room so I heard it all.) That's it. But of course he had the accident in February where the car hit him. And they asked questions a million ways about that. Ugh... They get to pull medical records. It is all there. It is all on the application. And it was all answered the first time you asked the questions. No need to ask them two, three or four times. Seriously...ridiculous! I worked in health insurance for years so I am sympathetic to some of the things that they need to do. But I also know that they could save money if they hired competent people. Could have easily done two calls in the time that they used doing Brian's. Anyway...enough on that complaint.

This is retirement. Within the first hour of being awake this morning I said to Brian, "Do you know what today is? The Diplomat drops." :claphands: :lol23:No meetings to worry about, no status reports, no resolving problems...just waiting for a new season of The Diplomat on Netflix. This is an amazing mind shift.

Making eggroll bowls for supper tonight. That may become part of the normal rotation because we have a lot of pork sausage with that 1/2 a hog we just bought. And Shaun loves eggroll bowls so he will be happy. Need to send Brian to the store for a few ingredients.

Meeting some girlfriends for Happy Hour this evening. We have only known each other a year but have become pretty good friends in that time. Funny how that worked out. Ok, be back for personals in a minute.

Good morning, Everyone. How is it already Thursday! Super quiet morning here at the town hall. I'm off at noon to see the orthopedic surgeon; probably could have taken the morning off too. The residents wouldn't have missed me. lol
Chilly morning here in NH. Foliage is at peak here in our corner.
@Agata crazy cat lady waving over here from my corner. Kudos to you for getting all of them, including Mamma.
@LSlycord Check you out with your retirement activities!!! Sigh
@faerywings You had me at pumpkin bread!

Welcome to retirement life!

Good morning,
No covid symptoms yet, thank the Lord! However my ibs was on a roll, literally, all night! What a roller-coaster ride! Up and down until 5:30 when I was finally able to lay down in the bed and sleep! Im so glad Mark was able to rest until 9:30 today! He actually sounds a tad better than yesterday. I pray he is on the down side!
Hope you have a great day!

I want to retire!!! :bawling: (it's not happening for another +/- 15 years). Although with this shutdown, it does seem like I'm retired. No peace of mind though...

Good morning, Ladies! :)
Cross your fingers for me! I'm taking my elderly friend to the doctor today. It will be physically and mentally challenging for both of us. She suffers from deep depression and anxiety, and had a mini-stroke in August (no lasting issues, but still...)

Have a peaceful day and enjoy this glorious fall (or spring :) ) weather!

Morning, all. Had a good sleep last night, thank goodness. The meds and cream helped with the itching. Making up for lost sleep - I slept from 9PM until 8AM!!!

I had never heard of Covid Rash until I got it last month. Did some research on it and there is several different ways it can look. Google "Covid Rash" to see some of the different ways it can look. The 1st time I broke out it looked like huge (palm-size) rough red patches and some quarter-size blisters. I treated them with Lidocaine cream. This break-out is all blister type and the itching is much worse. It is in the same class as Shingles ... it can live on your body and pop out when the body is stressed. UGH!!! Good thing is that it is not contagious like Covid or Shingles. No new blisters today so hope that it is limited to the ones that have already erupted.

What do you do, Chris? That sounds fascinating :)

OMG, isn't Covid the gift that keeps on giving?! Paired up with Shingles?! Bubonic plague was not available, I guess... ;)
I'm joking, but it's not funny, really. Scary. I'm so sorry you are going through this, Kay. Take good care of yourself and feel better!

@faerywings I love all of these things you are doing. I had to look up "trebuchet". If you make pumpkin bread with them, you aren't going to use pumpkin are you? I mean, you are going to get your pumpkin from a can, right? ;) Ok, probably not. Lots of food packaging jobs are in the northeast...lots in New Jersey. As much as I want Syd in the midwest within driving distance, if she winds up in the northeast we will get to meet in person. I really feel like this is going to happen in the next year!

@Nonni F I will tell you that, so far, I'm getting into this retired life. I've thought about you coming back from vacation this week. It definitely helps to have a little time off to make it a little easier to ease back in.

@vickyday so glad that Mark seems a little better today and that you have no symptoms. Nothing like getting some good rest to help shake a bug...I find that even more true as I age.

@BrightEyes I am so sorry about the Covid. Hope that the meds kick it quickly. What is it with the pharmacies closing for lunch? I'm sure that it is because they must have a registered pharmacist on site at all times. Still, I wish that they could do something to keep those pharmacies available when people need them. Glad you were able to get a good night's sleep. My mom had a very bad case of shingles and she said it was the worst thing she ever experienced. I hope that yours is mild.

@AK_Tracy, Sydney and I did an Alaskan cruise in May of 2024 but we saw the "cruise" parts of Alaska. But what we saw was beautiful!

@Agata so glad that you have joined us in the Daily O's. It is addictive. I am so sorry about the furlough but I am happy that you are finding things that you can do. Thank you for taking your friend to the doctor today. Will be thinking good thoughts for both of you.

@bcgal00 wait a minute...a polar bear trip!! You will need to slip back in here and give details on that. It sounds amazing.

@bitzee glad to see you in here.

@BoatLady thinking about you. Hoping that the pain is controlled today.

Thank goodness I don't have the shingles right now. It is Covid Rash... I had the shingles back in 1999 at the same time we were evacuating from a hurricane in Corpus Christi!!! Talk about stressful! I agree... the Shingles is much worse than the Covid Rashes.
