It's August! I typically have mixed feelings about August, switching between enjoying the weather, mentally preparing for Autumn, being aggravated by the shorter days, and dismayed at the speed at which summer passes.
Seems like the harder I fight to hold on to summer, the faster it slips by. Remember how long summer vacations felt when we were kids? I wish I had that again.

But on the bright side, I got the day and date correct! :wehaveawinner:

My day was kinda of chopped up, but it worked out well. I cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms first thing, then I went out in the yard. You'll be super proud of me, I *finally* got the dead leaves cleaned out next to the driveway. This was made more difficult because, at the same time, I had to pull out the dead/spent lilies and clip back the irises. Better late than never!
Gary hung up my solar light hummingbird wind chimes for me and they looked so pretty when it was dark. My mom got them for my birthday and I kind of forgot about them until I was putting laundry away and saw them on my dresser. Gray and I even sat on the patio together for a little while. We hadn't done that in years.
I found a second monarch caterpillar and was cheering him on. The first one doubled in size already. It is insane how fast they grow. I know, I am over the moon because of two caterpillars that may or may not survive to become butterflies, but hey, it's a very "me" thing to be. LOL!

Caitlyn got out of work early yesterday because NJ had a State of Emergency and her job is at a State College. I was making vegan chicken salad spring rolls for dinner and it was nice having her there to help me roll them up.

I am hoping that the weather clears up a little. BFF and I have plans to sit by her pool today. If it's cloudy, I am good to go. If it is raining, maybe we will meet halfway for coffee.

Who has exciting plans today? I bet that Tracy is going to be all over the new AJ challenge!

xoxo

First of all our friends surgery went well 3 bypasses but no need for valve so that is good.
That is wonderful news!
What a wonderful time you have been having with your kids. It has to be bittersweet when it is time to head back home.

f you have an account at Wild Birds, they should've sent an email telling you your pole was shipped!
We are supposed to have cooler temps at some point, too. But only for a couple of days!
No shipping notice yet, it still says the order is "completed."
It is 59* here with a high of 71* -- hope that you are getting the same kind of cool down.
What games did you all play yesterday at DDs?

Will be off and running errands early tomorrow. The quarterly Library book/DVD sale is tomorrow - DD#1 and I are going to that. Then a stop at the Friends Of Literature used books/DVD store, then to the sale @ Kolh's and pay my bill, plus a couple of other stops. We hoped to get done and back home in early afternoon.
Did DD#1 have a power outage for a long time yesterday? Hope not.
Good luck at the library sale today.

I should have stopped to take some pics of the mountains and of the flowers at the local orchard/farmstore/tourist spot but once the bike is moving I have a hard time talking myself into stopping.
For me, it wouldn't be the stopping, it would be the restarting that I would struggle with! :giggle4:
I hope that you have a chance to get out and grab pictures with the respite on the HHH weather.
I am LMBO at the July 30/August 1 brain mix-up. That is something I would do. 100%.

@AK_Tracy Oh no! Can you replace the fan remote?
FYI: The August Monthly challenges are live! dance4

love to you all!

love to you all!
Weird that you haven't received a shipping notice yet?
Just a tad cooler here....upper 70's with a real feel of upper 80's, no not a whole lot of difference!
DD and I play Rummikub as long as her DD is playing because she refuses to play Qwirkle with us! After she says she has had enough, we switch to Qwirkle. I got home around 2. Her waffles were good for breakfast! She and I have started fixing our bacon in the oven. Spread it out on a baking sheet and cook it at 350 for 20 minutes. Doesn't even make much of a splattering mess, which surprised me! Then you dab the grease off and voila!

Good Morning,
Another quick in and out. I'm heading to Ilene's as soon as I shower and get dressed. She is getting her hair done right now but her cousin is at the house so we will wait on her and then go out to eat. Then we are taking Jo to Save-a-Buck's. Jo is a snacker, so she will be in heaven there! Lots of 4/$1 candies and snacks!
Mark and I finally made it out to dinner to celebrate our 7th anniversary last night. We ended up at Chili's since we had not been there in quite a while and he wanted to try their wings.
OK. That's it for me.
Hope you have a wonderful day!

Thanks, Tracy! Had a great time, as always!

@faerywings I had to read your note twice "sit by her pool today" whoot, whoot you are going to take a break!!! I hope the weather gods are happy so it is a nice day for you.

Yesterday it rained almost all day. I went to ex-DIL shop to get haircut and we had a super nice visit with lots of laughs...We always got along great. I defrosted my freezer This one is so much better than our boat I used to have to do that one every month this one is 3 months.. Sadly they do not make frost free for boats or campers.
We made a quick trip to the grocery store and managed to get everything into the camper before another downpour. I put chicken in the instapot using the crockpot mode. I made pulled chicken with Sweet Baby Rays and a few other things...it was super good.
I fed the animals in between the rain showers so Mike wouldn't have to do it when he got home. His friend needed his snowmobile trailer that was loaded with stuff for his trip to NY house so they transferred it to the other trailer...OMG it was pouring. Sarah and Reed go home last night at 10 she drove from 6:30 in the morning. This morning she is packing to get ready to go to NY.They have to leave about noon because they are stopping someplace in NY to get a new dirt bike for Reeds birthday...surprise.
Today Reed and I played 4 games of dominoes...he won the most. Granddaughter Kirsten came up here so we did a few things with Reed. It started with baking soda and vinegar to make a volcano bottle, not perfect but fun. Then we used some tea bags to make flying tea bags...fun. But the most fun was digging through a pile of old rotted trees that were here when Mike bought the property 13 years ago. @faerywings we were looking for salamanders but only found slugs, centipedes, worms and a few other bugs I think you would have loved it.
Kirsten took me to lunch which was fun...it's so weird to have your grandchild take you out for lunch. Everyone left so now it's just me and hubby for a few days so that is really weird.
I hope everyone is having a good day....August will be a great month.
