Daily Ooos: June 7-8: Birthday Party Weekend Edition!!

faerywings

The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
:dancingbfly: It's here! It has started!! And my cousin, the O Birthday Fairy, wants to know:
Have you heard????
and
Will there be cake? Do you like parties with cake?

Go check out what my faery cuz has planned this week!

How was your day yesterday? I had a totally messy head space in the morning but -- *huge sigh of relief* -- somehow, no idea how we pulled it off, everything worked out. The bubble gum and duct tape held firm and we all lived to face another day. Hahah!

My coworker came and got me and it turned out that I wasn't on her way. The AC in her lakehouse died and she had to spend the night at her regular home which is in the opposite direction of me. We get to work, wait for the school buses to show up and they are a half hour late. (lemme tell you, you haven't experienced true fear until you are standing in a parking lot and 4 school buses roll up on you! :floorlaugh:) This school had a hard time that they *had* to be on their way home so we had to shorten our morning rotations by 10 minutes. That doesn't sound like a lot on "paper" but it is when you have to move 25 4th graders from one area to another. Before we got started, we noticed a glitch in the groups. Switching the classes to new rotations can be tricky and the glitch meant that what we had scheduled was wrong. We ended up meeting at one central place and conferred. Later, my coworker said that we looked like the Spiderman meme, all pointing our fingers at each other with questioning looks on our faces. Bwuahaha!
Last "glitch" of the day-- because the rotations were so short, the teachers approached Lauren to see if there was a way to do one longer rotation after lunch so all groups had enough time doing the stream study. That meant two stream rotations- changing out who was helping who, did we have enough nets/supplies etc. At least we didn't have to switch groups./rotations LOL!

But it all worked out and the kids had a blast. Also awesome news-- Gary texted me right before the field trip ended that he has swapped cars at the shop. He was able to pick me up which was a blessing for Nicole. She was going to drive me home and then go right back to work for a meeting she had at 2, cutting it close. Now Cait's car is at the shop and hopefully that will be ready for her when she gets home/
I spent some time playing with all of the girls and Ripley is still the maniac of the group.

I am off in a few minutes to get ready for the K9 Hiking/First Aid class.

Have a fun weekend and enjoy that party!

I am in love with everyone's 19 yo selves. How fun to see what we looked like last year
Tonight is Demolition Derby that our son is driving in. I want to wish him the best of luck and be safe. I wish I could be there but we cannot make it. I do find it hard to watch sometimes--seeing your kid in a car that is being crashed into. Then after is the big after party at his house which is always fun. Bonfire of pallets and food & drink for lots of people. So sad to miss that. He will have to use last years fireworks!!! LOL
So dear O-friends please wish him a safe evening.
:thud:
There is no way I could watch that. Nope, no way. I know that it's too late for safe thoughts but how about not too many aches and pains when he rolls out of bed today?
How did he get involved in that? It's not your everyday run-of-the-mill hobby.

@Terri M The laundry-- that is how I feel about fitted sheets, I kinda smooth them out and roll them up. I can't get them flat so I don't even try LOL
*hands over some extra bubblegum and duct tape to your DD*
That sounds complicated and messy and aggravating - dangerous with the asbestos too.
@faerywings Good luck with the cars! Sometimes I think we’d all be better off with horses.
Hahahahaha! I always wanted a horse when I was a kid.
Good morning ladies. I am just popping in to say hi and need to get back to jewelry design, then packing everything up for tomorrow morning. It'll be a busy wkend, Jen and I will be exhausted by the end of Sunday but hopefully I'll have lots of sales to make it worth my while. Wish me luck.
Happy selling vibes to you!! Have fun and good luck!!!!!

Thank you! I'm being careful and cant over do it. By 9a.m. I have my compression pants back on. 12 hours on 12 hours off so I make sure bedtime is OFF!!! LOL
When I was younger, I had to wear a back brace for scoliosis. I remember to this day how I would strategize my hours out of it. I 100% understand why you want to make sure bedtime is your Off time.
Have fun with the party challenges!

@BrightEyes :waving1

BRB, dogs need to go out

@BoatLady You are having such incredible adventures!
The campground community seems pretty tight-knit, which must make it feel like home in all the places that you stay.
I can't imagine how much you love having the new camera for the sightseeing and wildlife.

LOL---WD40 needed here to lub all these achy joints
OMG, this has me LMBO!!!

Time to get ready/feed the rats/pack a lunch.
xoxoxo

I will miss most of the bash. We're going out of town June 8-13. I will try and make the games on my phone at the hotel & I plan to make the challenges later when I'm back home again. Bad planning on our part to plan the trip the same week as the O'Birthday!

Today I'm busy packing and preparing for the trip. Will have to do some cooking, my little baby needs food while we're gone. I mean, he's only 27. :giggle4:

@faerywings and anyone who wants to know. Demolition derby history for our son. The Goshen Stampede ( a fair of sorts) started to do demo derbys about 12 years ago they got in touch with Mike because he has an auto repair business.
He buys a car or someone donates one. To get a car ready it has to have all interior stripped out but the drivers seat., all out side trim off. gas tank out and a 6 gal tank installed. Battery be relocated and fully boxed in to be secure. Hole in hood so if there is a fire it can be put out quickly-he uses a diamond for the logo of his business. They have to make engine kill switch on dash with a circle of red paint to show where it is. All glass removed! Doors and trunk need to be welded shut or chained.Has to be number on both sides--he is 22 the street # of his business. Sarah is wife and a few volunteers (this year granddaughter) paint to the theme of the year this year military os red, white and blue camoflauge and huge flag of the military seals...I loved to help paint but haven't been able to for 7 years now. Note:They also make one to give away. His car has won best in show for 11 years...all that work only to get smashed up. He has won a few heats but he is in it for the fun...but at 51 this mom would love it if he stopped. They make a big deal of this event- they have shirts made (200) that say Wreck it Rons that they give to friends and business associates. He made it half way last night then something happened to the car so he was out and had to sit in the car with watching the rest of the event...did you hear Mom's sigh of relief...he is safe!!!!

Soggy good Morning.
Pouring rain. Woke me up it was raining so hard. Started last night as we were watching tv. One minute it was sunny the next I was yelling "My laundry" and scrambling as fast as I could to get it off the line before it got wet. Thankfully the line is under the roofline and so it was still dry. The wind was not blowing so yeah cloths were dry.

Me too!! They're so fun!!! Hard to believe it was just last year we were all 19.

We will miss you but you will have so much fun on your vacation.

@BoatLady Debby that's super cool about the derby. How awesome that your son wins best in show so often. Great advertising of the business and a good bit of guy fun. Back in the early 80's that was the best part of race night at the track, when they did the demolition derby. Dirt track, cars everywhere, smash bang whoops car cant move. Ahhh memories. Love your sons paint job this year.

Not much happening today. Working on birthday party challenges but mostly just hanging out at home doing nothing.
Need to get some coffee. Have a wonderful day!

@AK_Tracy I'm glad you are up and working on challenges. Do you still have to wear compression pants??? Here is a really stupid question but can you put them on by yourself?
LOL 19 years old .... oh to be this smart and that age. We would be dynamo's!!! No stoppin' us. Just let me get my WD40 first.

Mike ended up in 2 heats last night so he also got to drive- smash the car he gave away in the final heat. but it stopped so it was short heat. Mom likes it cause he's out and not hurt.

@tanteva sorry you will miss the party but hope you are going somewhere nice for your vacation.

@faerywings Campground life not as good a boating life by a long shot!!!

Have a fun weekend all O's

You can always ask me anything. I love sharing info so everyone knows. :heartpumppink:God doesn't make mistakes, but he does allow challenges. Through these challenges I have found my goal is to inform people of crazy common rare diseases. I have several common diseases that the medical field has no idea what to do with. So the more we share the more we all learn. I'm technically rare in my diseases but they are more common than previously believed.

Yes, stupid compression. Have to wear them 12 on 12 off for at least two more weeks. But honestly, I will probably wear them daily
These are the ones the doc has me in the first two weeks. They're like pants, not see through at all
1749312272875.jpeg
And yes, they really go that high :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: Grandpa pants, pulled all the way up to the ribs!!!
The ones I prefer are more like tights and fit under my regular clothes.
1749312335834.webp
Plus I love the open toe as my toes can breath. I hate smushed toes. The first ones from the doc dont go over the ankle, but I do wear them over the ankle so it makes them odd to wear. But post surgery if I dont wear them over my heel I get a swelling line that hurts. If I have to leave my house I wear the tights. If I am home, like today I will wear the pants.

I can get them on myself but not the first two weeks. All those cuts mean I cant bend as needed and I need the compression pulled away from cuts as they go up and over. Its a struggle. My CMT also effects my thumbs so I have no strength in them to grip the pants which makes it harder to get them up but the stubborn girl in me tries and fights to find away to get them on. They are firm compression (20-30mg) so they're is a learning curve to get them on. They start inside out and once they're over the feet then you roll them up and over then do the shimmy to get them where they need to be. I think since February when they did the first surgery I have only had 5-7 full days of no compression. And I made sure they were home days of leisure. I fear (know) that I will always wear compression to some degree as my lymphatic system needs the assistance to keep from swelling up like a balloon.

Sorry I am late getting in to post here... been helping DD#1 with lots of paper work. Her hubby was so good yesterday .... he got my scanner to work with my computer!!! So, we had lots of paperwork to scan and to copy...etc... etc... etc. Finally finish that up and have a few minutes to pop and check on my challenge. All caught up on that one. DD#1's hubby plus his sister/hubby are all flying out tomorrow morning. DD will be staying several more days.

Weather around my state and into TX OK and MO has been wild. Had several tornados in the eastern part of our state and into the panhandle of TX (where my sis lives) the last 2 days and another tornado watch again this evening.

DD and hubby will going out with his sisters/hubby for supper. No cooking for me. I spent part of the afternoon making guacamole, Got a special on avocados - 3 bags with 6 in each bag.... all ripe and needed to be used today/tomorrow!!! Now I have 10 small tubs in the freezer and one in the fridge!!! dance4 :girldance::rotfl:

Gotta run... more work with DD before they leave for supper.

I have checked in for the birthday, but I have been busy with special activities for the 25th anniversary of the WWII museum here in New Orleans, LA. We attened a special musical event Friday nitght and today we attended the anniversary of the museum. It has been fun and very educational. We are both WWII buffs and both of our fathers were in WWII. Trying to get some scrapping in.

Ooooh boy!! Is it really Sunday, June 8th? That is out.of.control. Hahaha!!
One of my coworkers always says, "What is *even* happening?" and I might just have to steal her catch phrase.

All is good; no worries there. The class was so good. It was intense, for sure. There was a lot of information in 6 hours, but much of it was similar to human first aid/CPR, so it wasn't overwhelming. My dogs barked at me when I walked in the door. I rolled my eyes at them, those silly girls, and said that they'd better be nice to me now that I know how to save their lives :dancingdog: Then I got some kisses from them so it's all good.
I played with the big girls and the rat-babies for as long as I could before I had to get in the shower and deal with dinner.
This is how the babies reacted when I was saying goodbye to them:

LMBO at them!
I am helping Lauren on the Forest Bathing Hike today, observing/learning how she does it and I'll be taking some pics/videos that the director can post on social media.
This afternoon-- I have to do some scrapping for the party!

HAGD!!

Oh goodie! @tanteva and her  will be away for the party!! Whew!
Wait, what was that? She's going to try to do some games on her phone?
:oops2:
Oh heeeeey, Eva!! How are you?
(Lemme get my mop... :mopping:)

Note to any lurkers/new members-- I adore Eva and respect her love of ketchup but can't ever tell her that to her face. Bwuhahahah!

Eva-- have a wonderful time on your trip, can't wait to hear about it when you get back. *fingers crossed the weather is perfect and stays that way*

@BoatLady You are made of stronger stuff than I am to even watch a minute of the Demolition Derby. Thank you for sharing how it is done and why. It sounds like it a bug community event. (as a mom, I'm breathing a sigh of relief with you!)

@AK_Tracy I hope you didn't move too fast trying to get to the laundry that you hurt yourself.
Don't you love being 19 +1 today?
Hope you had a fab day scrapping for the party here.

LOL 19 years old .... oh to be this smart and that age. We would be dynamo's!!! No stoppin' us. Just let me get my WD40 first.
I will never be able to look at a can of WD-40 and not think of you! :rotfl:

I 100% love this about you and 100% agree! I was talking about Gary's long road to the Lyme diagnosis to my coworker who picked me up from work and she had no idea that Lyme could cause psychiatric/neuro symptoms. Gary has been so open about sharing his story and that is super helpful b/c you never know who it will help.

My stomach and thighs are hurting and squeezed just *looking* at the impression pants.

@BrightEyes Glad to hear that your family is making progress and helping you too! Safe travels to SIL#1 and his family.

How interesting to be participating in the WWII museum events. Personal to you as well with your fathers' roles.
Hope you get some scrap time in too!

Saturday morning we had a work day on the trails. This time of year, with all the rain we’ve been having, those vines can take over as soon as your back is turned. It rained on us all morning but it was a gentle summer rain and much better than too hot.

My daughter and son-in-law still own the first house they bought in upstate NY when he was in grad school. They rent it out. Friday night there was 4” of rain and the tenant was awakened at 2 am by a loud noise. One of the basement walls had caved in. What a disaster. I was worried that the house was unstable with a foundation wall missing but they were able to put support under it and it’s apparently livable. Fortunately son-in-law’s parents live next door and manage the property. On the one hand I feel helpless because there is nothing I can do, on the other I am very glad I’m not there and dealing with it. Between the plumbing issues in their current house and now this, those kids have not had a good week, for sure. I keep telling myself they’re grownups, they can handle it, but once a mom always a mom, right?

Looks like a gray day ahead for us. I really should do some house cleaning this afternoon but maybe I’ll just work on my Great American Road Trip photo book. Off to church for now.

@BoatLady Thanks for that demolition derby info. I had no idea! Still I don’t think I’d enjoy watching it.

@AK_Tracy Wow Tracy thanks for the compression pants info, that is pretty amazing what you have to do--"shimmy"-well that vision with some music could be a new dance!:cucumber::dancinglock::banana3:dance3Thanks for including the photos. after my hip replacement I had to wear compression socks for awhile I hated to crush toe thing and couldn't wear my flip flops so I cut the toes off so problem solved..

@Terri M Wow 4" of rain in upstate. Wow that is so freaky about the wall collapsing. I sure hope it can be repaired without too much trouble. Our son is building his retirement home upstate so I wonder how it is. Good thing that wasn't snow!
Ill be thinking of you later as we do some wine tasting here in VA and again tomorrow wiht my cousin.

@scrapinmom That is interesting to work on WWII museum that would be right up SIL alley he loves that era history.

@faerywings I did not know Lyme could cause psychiatric/neuro issues. My brother has Lyme but has not affected him that way. Well I learned something new today..thanks.
I agree seeing those fancy pants of Tracy's I feel crushed and I can see it would be hard to overeat. Maybe we should invent some to crush the stomach area so we cannot eat...LOL:yesss:

"I adore Eva and respect her love of ketchup"

Liar!

Spooky hallway at the hotel. Expecting to meet 2 girls who want to play.

Good Morning!!!!

@tanteva is that really the hallway of the hotel????? Oh my gosh I would be looking for the twins too. Looks almost creepy instead of updated.

@faerywings Chris aren't you suppose to relax on the weekends??? I thought that you were suppose to slow down and rest up. :floorlaugh: Pot listens to kettle. I'm a little freaked by the rats but so glad you are enjoying them.

Thanks for including the photos. after my hip replacement I had to wear compression socks for awhile I hated to crush toe thing and couldn't wear my flip flops so I cut the toes off so problem solved..
HAHAHA Ready for TMI? Well, lets just say pulling pants down to pee while having drain tubes (straws) wasn't fun. My daughter and I laughed about cutting a slit in the pants so that you could use a she-wee without pulling pants down!!! :floorlaugh: It was tempting but the amount of unravel and going commando kept me from doing it. Thats why I love the open toe tights. They allow my toes to breath and move.
I agree seeing those fancy pants of Tracy's I feel crushed and I can see it would be hard to overeat. Maybe we should invent some to crush the stomach area so we cannot eat...LOL:yesss:
HAHAHA I wish it worked that well. The compression is a little less in the tummy area which is crazy odd to me but yeah would be nice if they helped you not over eat.

@Terri M Terri your pour kids! They just keep getting hit with house issues. How scar that must have been to have a wall fall down. Even if it was the rental place. Scary. Glad no one was hurt.

I am fully dressed down to make up and socks! Woo hoo!!! I get to leave the house for church today. Other than riding along Friday for grocery pickup I haven't left my house in almost two weeks. I'm ready to see something besides my place. But its raining again so everything should be nice and green. Off to see what's happening in the party room.
