Good morning and TGIF for real!

What was I saying about bubble gum and duct tape and cars, et al?
Now we have two dead cars.
Gary was driving my car to the shop and I was following in Caitlyn's. The Check engine light was still on but we were only driving a mile to the shop. Wouldn't you know... her car stalls out on me while I am driving. One second it's fine, *poof* - dead. It restarted after a few seconds, but sheesh...
Then I realized I won't be able to get to work today for the field trip and it is a big one. 114 kids. 4th graders. 85* heat. Not the best mix, fully staffed. Thankfully, I asked my coworker who lives sort of close to me if she could pick me up. I bribed her with coffee and a bagel (reminds me-- gotta get the butter out of the fridge now so it will spread). :D

I spent an hour or so after that mess working on Week 2 fo the AJ challenge when I realized it is not posted. I jumped the gun on that one. I had forgotten that it was my brother's b-day today and I had to race to make a card and get it in the mail in time. I tried to work outside but was so scattered. And for some stupid reason, I decided that *this week* was the one to make all of the complicated new recipes. I made tofu shawarma with homemade pita bread and vegan tzatziki sauce. It was very good but a lot of work. The night before was vegan crunchwraps with cashew queso, also a lot of work.

So that's it. My mind is mush. Mashed potatoes with more than a few lumps.

The kids are on their way to Knoebels this morning and will be home on Tuesday. I am in charge af taking care of all 5 rats. Please let that be uneventful :praying2:
The one great thing about today is that (as of right now) I am leading the stream study rotation with Grace and she is a trip! I love working with her, she is really funny and low-key.

*fingers crossed that my car will be done today and Cait's gets in*
I have a class tomorrow and a work hike on Sunday, so I need a working car.

Have a fab Friday!

@BrightEyes love the avi! (note to self-- work on one today!)
Glad that SIL made it in OK. Good luck to the family with the work.

@AK_Tracy another fab avatar! Bet that felt wonderful sleeping without the compression pants. Make sure you aren'ty overdoing it.

@Terri M We finally put the AC in the windows (Gary almost dropped one out of the window but caught it in time whew!)
That's soooocool that you did stream monitoring. That is what we base our stream study on-- finding the macros and determining the health of the stream. Case-building caddisflies are my favorite! Super cool.
I didn't bother even thinking about removing the poison ivy yesterday- the way my luck in running, I would end up at the drs for cortisone shots again. *ouch*

Hugs to you all!!

We are traveling again today so I will try to get back here once we are at our destination. So much stuff to share with all of you.

Oh no @faerywings that is terrible about the car...good luck I hope it is an easy fix..kind of ironic our son( the mechanic) is going to be smashing up a perfectly good car tonight in the Demolition Derby. Glad you got a ride to work cause they need you.Have a fun day with the kids.

Tonight is Demolition Derby that our son is driving in. I want to wish him the best of luck and be safe. I wish I could be there but we cannot make it. I do find it hard to watch sometimes--seeing your kid in a car that is being crashed into. Then after is the big after party at his house which is always fun. Bonfire of pallets and food & drink for lots of people. So sad to miss that. He will have to use last years fireworks!!! LOL
So dear O-friends please wish him a safe evening.

Ill be back later to comment

I got the laundry done except folding towels. Why can’t I just toss them into a big hamper in the bathroom and pull one out when needed?

Habitat for Humanity is short on paid staff today so David won’t be going in for his usual Friday work day. Which means I won’t have my lazy day with no one watching this week. But he’s satisfied to go work in the yard, so it all evens out. Sometimes when I think about moving to a condo as we get older, I wonder if that will ever be an option, he likes puttering around in gardens so much.

My daughter and son-in-law out in Seattle had a plumber in to replace the shutoff valves to the washing machine, which weren’t working. The next day they hear drip-drip-drip in the wall and the carpet in the guest room is wet. Plumber came back and they turned off hot water which stops the leak but doesn’t allow for showers or dishwashing. Plumbers won’t take responsibility for the leak until the wall is opened up and source is found. Added complication, apparently the drywall is from the asbestos-containing era. The last thing they need is this complication, but I guess they’ll learn how to put in an insurance claim.

Need to work on some challenges. The down side with all his sitting is that I am getting them all done and will have nothing to do later. Its only the 4th and I have half the challenges done LOL What a couch bonder suppose to do?
It looks like you’re well-positioned to take part in the birthday party challenges!

Omg, I can’t imagine! I’d be chewing mailbox like it was popcorn.
Where do they get the cars? Do they go out and buy junk cars? I guess they’ll learn how have to run but they don’t have to go fast.

@faerywings Good luck with the cars! Sometimes I think we’d all be better off with horses.

Good morning ladies. I am just popping in to say hi and need to get back to jewelry design, then packing everything up for tomorrow morning. It'll be a busy wkend, Jen and I will be exhausted by the end of Sunday but hopefully I'll have lots of sales to make it worth my while. Wish me luck.

@faerywings Glad you got a ride in, that would have been awful to miss it. Your dinner sounds delish but yes, sure sounds like a lot of work.

@BoatLady Enjoy your summer travels. You have such a fun life!

I'm getting coffee and getting back to designing.

Good Morning!
:sunnyeyes::sunnyeyes::sunnyeyes:
Its bright and sunny and looks like another fabulous day!

Then I realized I won't be able to get to work today for the field trip and it is a big one. 114 kids. 4th graders. 85* heat. Not the best mix, fully staffed. Oh dear. I'm sorry the car issues are stacking up. That's stressful. Glad you were able to find a ride to work. 114 kids is just a few (sarcasm). I cant imagine being short staffed for that.
I spent an hour or so after that mess working on Week 2 fo the AJ challenge when I realized it is not posted.
No, its not posted yet! Dont tease me like that!!! :giggle4: I was stalking all day yesterday to realize it was way to early to post the AJ. It was only 5 days into June. No, it isn't posted!!!
@AK_Tracy another fab avatar! Bet that felt wonderful sleeping without the compression pants. Make sure you aren'ty overdoing it
Thank you! I'm being careful and cant over do it. By 9a.m. I have my compression pants back on. 12 hours on 12 hours off so I make sure bedtime is OFF!!! LOL

Oh this stinks! Sounds like the plumber did something. Ewwww that's gonna suck to remove asbestos from the walls. I hope they can get it taken care of without too much hassle.
It looks like you’re well-positioned to take part in the birthday party challenges!
Yes, I can play without fear of hurry up and get it all done :floorlaugh: Its just not the same explaining to hubby that I've run out of scrapping to do as he looks at me like I'm crazy. The huh look.

Good Luck Rae!!! I bet it will be spectacular!!!

Todays goals: sit in the sun with a book.
Weather looks amazing and shouldn't be an issue. Sat outside yesterday and it felt amazing to get all snuggly warm via sunshine. Off to grab more coffee.

Another quick in and out this morning... Have several errands I need to run today. Popped in to check on my challenge and see how things are going for the Avatar Challenge - Kick-off for the Birthday party. Will be back later on.

Friday already!!!

Finally got to read yesterdays conversations.

@faerywings your daughter has engine light on too...OMG your poor family. Glad you are enjoying the rats! Wow 114 kids to work with I love kids but that is tooo many..Watch out for the poison ivy it's some nasty stuff first thing in the spring when it is the strongest. I got it bad one year and had to get a shot. Now if I'm exposed I go directly to shower with lots of soap and water then wash my clothes too. Good luck.

You said "Everything in my life is being held together with bubblegum and duct tape!! My car, my bank account, my house, my body-- all of it"

LOL---WD40 needed here to lub all these achy joints

@bcgal00 Good luck at shows I always admire the crafts people do in quanity. I can see that stock might be a problem but taking orders is a great idea...custom work!

@BrightEyes you are one busy lady with all that company and working on scrapping. so glad you were not affected by the bad weather.

@AK_Tracy Yikes 12 hours in the compression pants...I do not blame you for being a rebel. Och ripping off the scab!!! I am glad you were able to get some sleep it is needed so you can heal. As always don't overdo it because you are the one who suffers...how many times do I have to tell you.

@Terri M OMG thank you for the recommendation for the boat ride in Norfolk...we had an amazing time. It was hot but I like that. It was amazing to see so many Navy war ships in one place. Our friends really enjoyed it also.
I did enjoy my jury duty time also. It was hard because I still had to work at night to get the alterations done and back to the cleaners each morning but seeing our judicial system at work was enlightening.

How is everyone dealing with the smoke?

Ok update time.
We had a fabulous time in Lanexa VA. hanging out with the campground marina owners who we made friends with 2 years ago.
Jay and I went into Williamsburg did a little shopping--yuck hate it- then a nice lunch. It is such a wonderful old place to visit.
When our friends got there and settled in the cabin I made dinner and we caught up since we haven't seen them in 2 years. Tuesday morning we went to see Sherwood Forest Plantation -President Tyler's place still owned by family till his last week when his grandson passed away. It was interesting, we had seen it but Em/Gary had not but still enjoyed it. We went to a winery for lunch and a glass of wine. Back to the campground to go on a boat ride with the owners to Billsburg Brewery with other campers so their was 8 of us. 5 1/2 hours but so nice on the river, we really enjoyed ourselves. Friend Gary and I had a blast with our camera;s
Wednesday we went on a boat ride in Norfolk to see the Navy war ships then to dinner. It was a long day so we said "our sleep wells" at 9:30
Thursday Our friends left to go back home to KY so I worked hard on finishing the basket I was making for the campground owners. They have a bass tournament so we went over to watch that and have dinner with the owners while we watched the boats launch and come back for the weigh-in. It is so much fun, by 10 we were done so back to our trailer.
Friday up early to finish the basket then get ready for our travel day. Cleaned up, took shower, made breakfast, took the basket to Jennifer- she loved it. 3.5 hour drive and set up then it rained. We are in Waynesboro now. My cousin lives 1/2 hour away so we will probably see her monday after we visit Monticello.

Anxiously waiting to hear how Mike does in the Demolition Derby tonight. . I talked to him this morning he's excited....will this be trophy #12 or not??? DGD is going to report--starts at 7
