May Art Journaling Challenge Week 3 - {Fortitude}

Love my O Family!
CHEERY O
Hi! I’m Vicky! Welcome to Week 3 of the Art Journaling Challenges with the theme of Fortitude. Fortitude to me is when you determine to keep on going when you don’t feel like it. Fortitude is showing yourself that “you can” when others say “you can’t!” Fortitude is the characteristic of the strong, not the weak. But fortitude also builds strength in the weak. So how do we go from being weak to being strong? Personally, I trust in God for my strength each day. What gives you the fortitude you need in tough circumstances in your life? Is it your mom, dad, God, friends, husband? I’d like to see your pages about what gives you Fortitude in your day-to-day life. Here are some quotes to inspire. Feel free to use one of them on your page, or use one you found that inspires you. I can’t wait to read about what give you Fortitude!

Quotes:
Character contributes to beauty. It fortifies a woman as her youth fades. A mode of conduct, a standard of courage, discipline, fortitude, and integrity can do a great deal to make a woman beautiful. Jacqueline Bisset

Fortitude is the marshal of thought, the armor of the will, and the fort of reason. Francis Bacon

One of the duties of fortitude is to keep the weak from receiving injury; another, to check the wrong motions of our own souls; a third, both to disregard humiliations, and to do what is right with an even mind. All these clearly ought to be fulfilled by all Christians, and especially by the clergy. Saint Ambrose

Fortitude is the guard and support of the other virtues. John Locke

I know of no higher fortitude than stubborness in the face of overwhelming odds. Louis Nizer

Gird your hearts with silent fortitude, suffering yet hoping all things. Felicia Hemans

A mode of conduct, a standard of courage, discipline, fortitude and integrity can do a great deal to make a woman beautiful. Jacqueline Bisset

Affliction is the wholesome soil of virtue, where patience, honor, sweet humility, and calm fortitude, take root and strongly flourish. David Mallet

I learned a lot in those first years in Miami, while struggling just for survival, by observing my father's fortitude. Desi Arnaz

Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Here is my sample page. Looking forward to seeing yours!

Challenge Guidelines & Template Info:

You can choose to do a single page, double page, tag, or TN each week, or use a divided template—one part for each week. If you don’t have the Divided Template and would like to use it, you can get it here at Dropbox. Thank you to Ona @wombat146 for providing the template choices for us!

If you use the template, we encourage you to post it incrementally:

Post one section in the first week.
  • Post an image of the two together on the second week.
  • Post three sections on the third week.
  • Share the finished page on the fourth week.
Note: The template is NEVER required—just a fun option if you want to try something different!
  • You have until 11:59 p.m. CST on May 31 to complete your pages for this challenge.
  • To qualify for the drawing, you need to use 80% Oscraps products currently in the store (non-Oscraps products or retired O designer products can be used whether the designer is selling elsewhere or not).
  • You need to credit all products used on your page.
  • You cannot use a page created for this challenge in another Oscraps challenge.
  • Upload your page to the Art Journal Gallery and then add your layout to the challenge thread. (Instructions below.)
  1. Upload your layout to the gallery first.
  2. In your forum post, click the Gallery Embed icon (little camera).
  3. This will open your gallery—click on the layout you want to embed.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click Continue.
  5. Your linked layout is now in your post! The image will appear once you click Post Reply.
Everyone who participates in any of this month’s challenges will be entered into a drawing for a $5 gift certificate to Oscraps. You can receive up to four entries into this month’s drawing.

We look forward to seeing your inspiring pages on Fortitude! Happy journaling!

Continuing with the Phoenix theme

Week 3
Time passed and I realized that the love I shared with my darling husband had enriched our lives together. Those memories will always color the rest of my life with joy, happiness and love. My phoenix has lifted out of the burning sorrow and will look for the good as time goes on. I now treasure all memories - both good and sad - as they come. Love is my heart's armor and it surrounds me with his spirit.

Your page is so poignant, Kay! I pray that every widow comes to this point in her life as she goes forward without her husband. Thank you for participating!
