Happy Thursday, O-zies!
How are you doing today? Did everyone have a great day yesterday?
The weather here was just wonderful! I spent a little time outside, tidying up one small, very small area of the front garden. I cut back almost all of the thyme that died over the winter. I'll see if I get anything green before I rip the rest of it out. I also cleared the leaves from where my milkweed usually grows and no sign of that either. That is upsetting. I might have some seeds from last year, I can't remember if I was able to collect a pod last year or if it was the year before. Even that small amount of yard work made me realize that my joints are all out of whack and I was limping after a while.
Almost all of my veggie seeds have sprouted so Gary and I transplanted the plugs into bigger pots. They can stay inside under the lights for another week or so, then they should be ready to go into containers.
The highlight of my day- I saw my first hummingbird!! :woohoo:
They hadn't been showing on the camera feeder, so I hung up my old, faded Walmart-special feeder where the camera feeder was. :p This is where I always had the basic feeder for the last several years so I know the birds know it. I had to charge the camera feeder battery anyway, so I'll put that in a different but nearby place today. *fingers crossed that will work*
I know the camera itself works because the finches will sit on the perch and I can see them. *G*

Today is going to be a busy one. I am getting certified for Scouting Merit Badges and the training can be done online. So that's the big thing this morning. I also want to get some of the planning for the next HS session--Pollinators! And I have to write the newsletter article about the Toad book.
There is more I have to do but it's all boring.

Have a fantastic day!

Sounds like you had a productively busy day yesterday! Sounds like your weather yesterday is what we had on Tuesday! And, YAY to seeing your first hummingbird! The one I saw still isn't coming around very frequently. So not sure why that is! Maybe he doesn't like the nectar I bought from the store.

Good Morning,
Nothing planned for today but lunch with Mark, more devotional work, AJ Week 2 challenge page, which I'm working on right now. Been up since 6:30, awake since 5:30. Mark going in early for work is for the birds, LOL!
Have a great day!

I do not know how it happened but my sweet granddaughter is 23 today. The time is flying by.. Seems like yesterday that I sat in hospital waiting for ??? we didn't know what baby was. One of the best surprises of life.
Happy birthday to your granddaughter!! Is she your first?
Yesterday was my nephew's 14th birthday (Trudy and Rae-- can you believe that????). I should have checked in with Scott, TBH. When we went to see him when he came home, Scott was holding Christopher and commented that when he turned 15, Scott would be 30. You know that feeling of how far away age is when you are 15? I know that Scott thought 30 would be *forever* away. The last time we saw Christopher, Scott remembered what he said, and I wonder how he is feeling with 30 being only a year (and 2 weeks) away.
Time really is flying by.
I can imagine you miss your friends and the club while you are away. Do you meet up with other fellow campers at different stops or make friends as you go? My guess is you do both. :)
Haha! I see-- so your DS isn't one to sit and relax in front of a small fire with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. He is more like a fire marshal stoking it all night long.
I know your dad can be a PITB sometimes, but he sounds like he is a hoot! So glad you had a good day with the kiddos yesterday! Never heard of tree soap! I like learning new things, too!
He *is* funny and I have to tell my mom that he is joking most times she is annoyed at him. :rolleyes1:
I'm glad that you guys aren't bored when I share my new-to-me tidbits.
Yes, the chair is GREAT with no arms! slides right under the desk and is so comfy!
perfect!!! Yay!
DD#3 stopped by for a nice long visit in the late afternoon. Then this morning, I got an email from DD#1... she will be flying in on Friday for a week's stay. :dancing6:
That's fantastic!! How are all of your kids doing with the family losses and stresses, holding up ok?

I started on my widows' devotion yesterday, but I'm not settled on it yet. Today after lunch I need to start working on the Psalm 19 Bible study for our ladies at church on Saturday. I'm running out of time! I have most of it done, but want to go over it again.
You got this!!
Was blinded by the sun as I came out of my bedroom today. Hope its an amazing day of sun with some porch sitting but we shall see. Last night the rainbow over our place was HUGE and BRIGHT! The photos are good but dont show just how amazing it was. I'm sure they'll make a LO sometime soon.
Don't get sunburned
Looking fwd to seeing the rainbow photos. Can you boost the saturation a bit so the pictures are closer to what you saw?

Well, its unknown. I will always have to use compression on busy days so my lymph system functions properly. I have to watch heat and swelling. I watch foods too as they can cause swelling. Swelling stops the lymph system from functioning and that leads to issues. The diseased fat cells can grow again as not all of them were removed. Its impossible to remove all of them. But its significantly reduced. Hormone fluctuations really trigger things. Thankfully I have hit most of the milestones that are horrid, puberty, pregnancy, etc where the hormones are out of wack. I was mid menopause so I wont have to worry too much but I do watch and keep track. I had hysterectomy several years ago so that helps keep hormone levels more balanced. My daughter who was more advanced (she was stage 3 I was stage 1.5) will have to be careful as she hasn't hit menopause yet and that could trigger growth for her.
That bites. :( I had a feeling that it wasn't a one-and-done, but you have every last good thought I have that your body cooperates with you. To your DD as well.

Good morning ladies. Just got back from the doctors and dropping off Darrell to the ER. Doc suspects blood clots (from surgery) which is why D started to get worse after being better for a week or so. They'll run test today and I expect to get him tonight after they start blood thinners. If everything goes ok, if overnight then Jen will go get him b/c I leave first thing in the moring for my 2 day birding trip with a friend.

I've got to go pack for my mini trip while I'm home and things are quiet. Chat later.
Poor D! He must be done with doctors. I hope that he is ok and that you have a wonderful time on your trip! I am excited to see and hear all about it!

I have had good luck just making my own-- 4 cups of water and 1 cup of store-brand white sugar. My friend tried some of the packaged nectar and didn't have any luck, but did when she switched to the DIY recipe.

According to my bird dork friend making the humming bird nectar with @faerywings recipe is best, the store bought has red dye which is not good for them. They are attracted to red so put a red christmas bow near the feeder. I used to make it and use the christmas bows and was very successful at attracting them. Also clean their feeder often mold will kill them. do not use beach but vinegar rinse thoroughly then rinse again. Save the hummingbirds!

Normally I make my own, but when I saw this "kool-ade" mix at my birding store, I decided to give it a try. May have been a mistake! It wasn't cheap!

Good Morning Lovely O Fam!
Quick pop in today.

Wind came up, temps never did, sun hid. Was NOT a sit outside day. The rainbow photos are amazing in color, but the fact I couldn't get the whole rainbow drove me nuts. My house was in the way LOL I could stand here and take half the rainbow but then walk to the other side and get some rainbow LOL But they dont go together. It was constantly changing as it rained. But it was pretty.

I dont know what I did yesterday but it wasn't exciting. I feel like I bruised the inside of my knee. It was bugging me all night. Had a mama moose and her one year old twins stomp past our bedroom window (more photos to scrap) last night. Just enough to make sure we weren't gonna sleep soon as the dogs barked. Got a couple pics of them running away. I have no idea why but they love to walk right against the house where our bedroom is located. Its not even flat ground at that spot but they love to let us know they are there.

Todays plan, AJ LO and maybe uploading the recent photos to scrap. Off to get more coffee. Have a wonderful day.

Morning everyone, I am finally able to sit for a bit and catch my breath for a change. I might even be able to spend some time scrapping today?? We will see LOL. I am still thinking about maybe leaving the O, but I just love everyone here and can't really imagine not being here. I am going to try very hard to make time for being here and continue with my duties here. My Gary is on his way outside to put the second coat of stain on the fence, but I am staying in and doing what I want this morning. This afternoon we are going to get our latest Covid vaccine, we thought that if we are going to be travelling and flying in airplanes we should be up to date with our vaccines. We are talking to the dr. on Monday about getting our shingles shots and if we go somewhere exotic we will have to look into what vaccines we will need then. With Mother's day coming up I will be working on a card for MIL and then will visit my Mother's grave site on Sunday and leave some roses for her and Dad. I will also take some cleaning supplies to clean up the site a bit. We have to attend a memorial service for SIL Linda's ex boyfriend Mark's Mother on Mother's day and it is at the same place where my parents are laid to rest, so it works out well. I did not have a great sleep last night although I should have after our hike yesterday that was 9km and lots of up and down! DH and I both took a turn in the hot bath jacuzzi tub and rested our tired muscles, but I still could not get comfortable an my legs were talking to me most of the night. DH slept like a log :giggle4: . Anyway I should do personals and then wait for Heather to call. I hope that everyone has a great day!

How nice that you have had a nice day to get out and get some dirt therapy! Sorry that you have lost your milkweed, but hopefully you can start some new from seeds! Yup the joints start screaming when you get out there to garden! Not fair when it is something that most of us enjoy doing so much!! I sure hope you have some success with all of your veggies are you doing any raised gardens for them? LOL I keep saying that it might be time to leave, but I just don't think that I can and my Gary is getting sick of me saying that maybe its time to go. He knows how much I love everyone here!!

I have hung some red glass balls near my hummingbird feeders and they seem to like those! Yes keeping the feeder clean is so very important, poor little guys get so sick if you don't! I make my own hummingbird nectar and they do love it so much more than the store bought crap!!

I can't imagine having a huge moose hanging around outside my bedroom window :eek2:. We saw two black bears on our hike yesterday, very unusual as we are a big group of very noisy talkative people! 29 of us yesterday and it was funny how the bears just kind of watched us as we passed by like they were saying WTH are you all making so much noise for?? :giggle4:.

Well Heather has called and now I can finish off this post and get into the shower and get dressed! FIL has come over to help with the fence staining, so nice that my Gary has a lot of patience with his Dad, who is NOT a good painter. Oh well he will just go over what needs to be redone. Nice that they are spending some good time together! Have a nice afternoon everyone! :waving3:

Its so totally normal for us that the only issue is the dogs bark when they hear them walk past. That's funny though that the black bears were looking at your like "shhhh its woods and woods are quiet" I can just see them staring you all down with the shhhh look. :giggle4:

As for O, dont leave, just lighten the load. I am sure you could step back on official duties and still hang around with us when you are able. We would miss you if you totally left. :heartpumppink: Do what feels right for you and the rest will work itself out. We love you and want you to enjoy this time with Gary.

Quick in and out... past time for me to get my shower and dressed... Wouldn't you know I was busy on the computer and still in PJs when the Pest Control guy rang the doorbell!! Thank goodness I had on my robe!!! It is clear today so he was able to do the quarterly spraying.

And DD#1 called to let me know that DD#3 is going to pick her up at the airport tomorrow.. and take her to run several errands on their way to my house. Then they will both come to stay at my house. DD#3 is going to help DD#1 do some work at her son's house.

Oh... I did finish getting all the VHS tapes/covers separated and into the trash and recycle bins yesterday afternoon. :girldance: dance4:claphands: Today is trash and recycle pickup so wanted them over and done with!!! The shoulder held up okay... with just some small aches. I did take a couple of breaks while working on them. Will work on getting the "new to me" DVDs put in the bookcase later... probably once the girls have left.

Here I am, back from 3 weeks with the grandkids. I always think I'll keep up on web sites and social media when we are visiting, because, after all, the kids are in school all day. But between taking over chauffer duty morning and afternoon, grocery shopping, and planning, cooking and cleaning up dinner, the day just gets away from me. And once the kids are home, o boy, they are just little energy sinks.

Here's my funny story:
We were there for Easter and I took on the job of boiling a dozen eggs for dying. I did them in the Instant Pot, which always works great, then put them back in the carton and wrote BOILED in big letters all over it. Then as they were dying eggs, Phoebe put one down hard and it cracked open -- totally raw! I was so embarrassed; did I get out the wrong carton? Did I mix them up? Well, we just continued, carefully. Since the kids don't actually hide the real eggs, we figured fine. So next morning at breakfast, David took an egg from each carton. When he opened the undyed egg, expecting it to be boiled, it was raw! So now I'm totally confused. We checked some more -- all eggs in both cartons were raw. This is such a mystery to us. If I had been alone when boiling the eggs, I could think I'm losing it, and just imagined I cooked them. But my daughter was with me in the kitchen while I did it. She saw me turn on the IP, saw the pressure and steam release when they were finished. HOW did a dozen eggs go through the Instant Pot and come out raw???? Well, I re-cooked a half dozen of the dyed ones so we could have deviled eggs, the same way, and they turned out as expected but I'm still flummoxed.

I've got a lot to catch up on!

Oh Terri that is so funny!!!! And now I need to know why they didn't cook. So weird. Did you put the eggs in the pot? That would be me, I would turn it on but forget the eggs.

Spent most of the day outside since it is so nice. First I moved the last of the planter pots into the irrigation area. Put tools in shed. I took a few decorations from the back garden. We have to prep for hurricanes since we will be gone and cannot do anything if one comes near we will be too far away. I made lunch then I made the snack I need to take to Bunko tonight. Helped Hubby load the back of the truck with travel stuff like extra water spare tires, generator/fuel, our mosquito tent and camp rug.
We still have 10 baby muscovies and the other momma is still sitting on her nest.
Dear granddaugher called to chat. She is going to concert tonight with friends and she is a music nut so concerts are her thing!!!

@AK_Tracy so sorry you could not get outside to enjoy but being able to take rainbow pics is wonderful. Moma Moose that close is amazing I'm looking forward to seeing those pages and the rainbow pages too.

@faerywings Yes Kirsten is my first grandchild and the only girl. We will be meeting old army friends in VA. Along the way we will be meeting new people for sure. Yes I will miss our Florida friends but we will be stopping to visit some of them.

@BrightEyes enjoy your daughters but I am sure you will.

@bcgal00 Have a fun birding trip. I look forward to those pictures.

Off to go to Bunko. there are sometimes 20 of us but smaller group as may snowbirds have left already. Everyone brings food and drink. It's a fun night with the ladies.
