With lots of help from @faerywings I'm learning to crochet. I knit from many years and I found this transition difficult. My goal is to make 3 amigurumi before the end of the winter. For now I'm concentrate on amigurumi.

This is my very first project Grace. She is naked turtle. I know it's not anatomically correct, but found it very funny to can slip in and out the shell. The shell will be made last to size it precisely. grace1.jpg grace2.jpg
And the pattern box.kutiq.jpg

It's a project in progress as you see, no legs still. And yes my colors are quite different than the box example but more natural.

So cute! You all amaze me! -I can't knit or crochet at all. I can sew but one should never look too closely at the seams!

@felis The turtle is going to be adorable. I'm glad yours has a nose!
I haven't done any recent crochet but you might remember in autumn 2019 Chris inspired me to make these little pumpkins for decorations. I brought them out again this past fall and still really like them even though they're a bit lumpy. The lacy doily in the photo was crocheted long ago by DH's aunt.

I remember when you made those pumpkins @scrap-genie
Here are the ones that I made. I scented some of the polyfill with pumpkin spice fragrance oils too and gave them as gifts to the family

I cannot sew a button to save my life. Meanwhile, my MIL is a published quilter (tried to teach me how to sew but that didn't go so well) and my daughter had an Etsy shop (Plug: Rat Queen Creates ) and sews small animal hammocks and assorted plushies including her infamous Worms With Perms.
Honestly, Vicki, I am not a very good crocheter at all- lots of missed stitches and mistakes but I can usually cover them up with some finagling.

So girls, during the weekend, I made this cactus! kaktus.jpg

LOL! I'm just kidding, obviously that's are the legs on my turtle, but I saw few cactus pattern and they also looks alike, at least a little bit.
I had lots of struggles with the fourth leg! I'm not skillful enough and also not concentrated enough, so it comes bigger or smaller. no matter that I'm following the same pattern! For the last leg I spent so much time as for the previous 3 together. It was bad idea to make them in different days, but I can't find enough time in one.

Felis, that is exactly what happened with my mitten! The second one was so much longer than the first one I made and had to rip it out and start over. I must have miscounted the rows and possibly loosened up the tension- making it a shapeless mess.
I can't wait to see Grace when you are finished

I'm doing lots of crochet-ing mainly children's toys , cuddlies and my latest love mosaic crochet blankets. This means I not only have a scrapping addiction ( dormant at the moment) but also a wool and cotton yarn addiction.

@Ellen Awww, they are awesome! Love the monkey! :)
A little stupid question but how much yarn is necessary for one blanket? I know it depends on yarn thickness and ball length, but approximately how many balls?

Chris, the red mittens are so cool, very fairy tale! I think lose up the tension is key in knitting, I'm saw that when I knit in different days parts are different. But here I think I messed the rows.

These crocheted animals are SOOOOOO adorable and @felis, I love your cactus. I just got "Crochet For Dummies" - I've forgotten EVERYTHING. I'm hoping it's like riding a bicycle. I can't even remember how to make a chain stitch. Anyway, as promised, Felis, I finally took pictures of my 30+ year old afghan! We still use it and the popcorns aren't very big anymore - I did find one picture of the afghan I made my granddaughter 20 years ago. You can see that I made the popcorns much bigger on hers, though I haven't seen it lately and I'm not sure if they're still big or not. You have all gotten me to try crocheting again. @felis I won't make it in time for my daughter and granddaughter to take it in 2 weeks, but I'd love to make Kinleigh one.

First picture is my newborn granddaughter (now 20) laying on the afghan I made her, the rest are my ancient afghan that we still use.

OMG, girls, you amazed me! These afghans, both Ellen and Cheryl, looks so amazing!
And @Cherylndesigns , with this beauty the first pics is like from crocheting magazine! Hahaha, it's not bother me that popcorns are going a little bit flat, the colors are still vibrant, and it looks wonderful!
Do you think to make the same pattern for Kinleigh?

:p I spy a little helper at the last pic!

I don't know if this can fall into the "sewing" category, but perhaps it does anyway since I used thread and a needle to make this ! !
I made my one sketchbook!

I really enjoyed doing it, and I admit that I am very happy and proud of the result ! I really like it !

Thank you, the monkey is a wobble ball. The blue blanket took 1700 grams of wool, it's a single bed size. Mosaic crochet takes more than usual as you crochet in single lines rather than turn and go back. Normally a single blanket would take 15 x100 grams.

That looks great, did you use cotton as the thread?

Thank you so much! I need a point around to calculate approximately.
