Tip- sticky notes
As I’m getting older I seem to forget more . It’s right what they say: everything is getting worse except for forgetting which is getting better and better.
I always struggle with keeping track of what I use in layouts so I can give proper credits. The trouble is that I change my mind too often and Photoshop gets confused , the default option for file handling is only 10 so I run out of that fast.
You can increase the file handling preferences by going to Edit- Preferences- File handling and reset it to the number you would like say 15 or 20. However ..this will eat into your Memory ( the computers that is, not your own)
What I do nowadays is get the Sticky Notes from Windows 7 and write on them , you can click them on and off, add to it and throw it in the bin when no longer needed.
There is another way of keeping credits ,whilst you still have your layout open go to File- File Info and you get a form that opens.
Fill in the title and the details in the description and save. When you now save your layout as a jpeg it will remember the details. All you need to do is go to File- File Info
How do you keep track of your credits?
Thank you Ellen for all these information, until now to keep track of my credits I used Sticky Notes from Windows 7 or Block Notes where I posted my links but you have just made me discover the file of information of Photoshop, tremendous this form, thank you ♥
I usually just title each of my layers with a brief description of the kit as I drag it into my file. Then when I want to do the credits at the end I just have to look at the names of the layers.
I use the old pen and paper:)
I know there is “Credit Tracker” action software available to us with Photoshop but I’m not sure it works with PE. There are places to purchase. I’m sure if you did a google search you could find it. When I start using PS it’s one thing I would l like to try!
Good tips, Ellen! I’m like Molly, if I’m using multi-designer / kits, I rename each layer so I don’t forget to credit the right person!
Cool, Ellan! I use the file info method………I was so happy when I discovered that. So many wonderful hidden gems within photoshop and PSE and LOVE that you are sharing them here on the blog! Look forward to more!
I do what Molly does now and have found it a lifesaver. I have to consider a sudden power failure or photoshop crash on this old pc. Lost my notes a couple of times just last week and had a rethink.
Another idea I’ve thought of is to have your credits on a separate text layer that you can add to as you go. Easy to hide it. I can then copy/paste to a note when I’m ready to post and need the info in front of me. I still name the layers though. ‘Adventure frame’ is much more descriptive than ‘frame’ and if I ever want to use that same frame again I know to look in Anna’s Adventure kit.
