Tip: Installing styles in Photoshop Elements

Scrappie IreneTips & Techniques

In Photoshop you can simply drag styles into the workspace and then they are installed. But in Photoshop Elements, you have to do it in a different way. It’s not difficult, just follow the steps below.

As a sample I am using a glitter style by Laitha. She has many style sets in her shop. Some are available as a set only, others are availble in the add-0n bundles.

When you open your Photoshop Elements, make sure your styles are visible. If they are not visible, click on Effects and then Styles. In the top corner on the right you see a small arrow with a couple of lines.

When you click on it, a little dropdown menu will be visible. Choose Load Styles.

You now get a bigger menu. You have to go to the folder where you keep the styles file, click on it and choose Load.

When you have done that, the styles from this file are installed and ready to use!

They work the same as the standard PSE styles like the dropshadows, simply double click on the one you want to use and the active layer will get the style you chose!

You can also uninstall the styles if you don’t need them anymore and want to keep your program clean. Where you chose Load Styles, you can also choose Delete Styles. Before you do that, make sure you have the style you want to remove visible in the styles menu! Otherwise you delete the wrong set of styles.
